Hello Everyone!
Pink Day in LA is returning to Guild Wars 1 and 2 once again and we can’t wait for you to see what we have planned for this year!
New to the Community and wondering what Pink Day is?
Pink Day is a yearly event in support of Cancer Research and support for those who have lost someone to cancer or currently battling cancer. We get together for 6 glorious hours of awesome fun and encourage players to give back in their own way on this day! We also get a newly re-finished Lion’s Arch to celebrate in – how perfect is that?!
When is Pink Day in LA?
October 17th from 12pm-6pm CDT (-5 GMT)
There will be 3 NA Megaservers and 2 EU Megaservers as well as 4 main livestreamers for the event. 2 for NA and 2 for EU! They will help with announcing TAXIs into the servers that day, as well as our many volunteers with the PINK guild tag.

Fellow Warriors of the Mists,
World population is visible on the labels on the World Selection and Transfer screen. It determines whether you can transfer to a world and, if you can, how much the transfer will cost. These measures historically have been set based on aggregate population levels around all game modes. But because World versus World is the only game mode to which worlds apply these days, we have developed a better model that exclusively uses WvW data to determine population levels and transfer costs.
We will be rolling out the new model soon and some shifts in the population levels should be expected. We’ll continue to monitor the situation, and we’ll make all adjustments we deem necessary to improve the WvW experience. As always, your feedback is very welcome.
See you in the Mists,
— Samuel
We don’t need to see it in-game, sometimes good video evidence is enough for me to track down who it was. In this case, the video was enough for me to find out who it was and take action. Thanks for the video, and to accompany your video, I give you this video of his account’s last moments:
Oh yah, he’s also banned
(edited by Chris Cleary.8017)
This forum is not a place for appealing a ban, but since you went into so much detail on why you think you got banned, I’ll go into the same level of detail on why you actually got banned.
Your account was terminated due to use of a 3rd Party Botting program. In regards to your reference to Cursed Shore, that is where you were reported (thanks players that reported you) and investigated. After watching your character, our GM team was able to determine that you were running a bot.
To extend further on that investigation, I looked into the logs and it looks like you were leaving your bot on for a couple of hours then playing the game later.
I also find it very interesting that a user by the name of kitten Cracked also has a post on a known botting forum where that user goes into depth about botting in Cursed Shore and is attempting to help others do the same.
Closing this thread. Please open a ticket with Customer Service if you wish to appeal.

Greetings,
Your request has been granted.
The “Security Issue” is that lots of people used the same password for everything.
Hackers got that one password that was used for everything from a vulnerable site via heartbleed.
Hackers then simply entered the user name and password and stole the account.
If your account was hacked, it was because YOU didn’t follow the basic rules of using the internet:
#1. LONG passwords + Complexity = Security
#2. NEVER, EVER, for ANY reason should you use the same password twice
#3. Always assume links in emails are BAD, especially if you didn’t request the email.
#4. Every website is infected. Repeat that to yourself. Again. Let it sink in. Every website is infected. What do you do after visiting an infected website? You run a scan. Do it. Do it because every website is infected.
The Lesh Prince!
Hello Everyone!
I bring you many greetings and much excitement from the Gamer’s Giving Back team! We will once again be hosting Pink Day in La in Lion’s Arch of both Guild Wars 1 and 2.
Never heard of Pink Day? Here is what we are about:
Since 2007 – The Guild Wars Community has been gathering in Lion’s Arch during a special day in October to raise up awareness for Cancer! In 2010 – Gamer’s Giving Back decided to make this event a fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Research and Awareness. To date – we have raised over $40,000 towards the cause supporting the Canadian Cancer Society. Last year we had over 150 volunteers from the Guild Wars 1 and 2 Communities that helped out and they were amazing!
Why the Canadian Cancer Society?
We chose this group because I , M A L I B U Barbie, hail from Canada and they have an International Campaign as well.
When is this event?
October 19th from 12pm-6pm Central (-6 GMT)
Can my guild or myself an individual help out?
Of course! We will be having another Volunteer meeting on September 21st on the GW-EN Ventrilo – email admin@gw-en.com if you want more information about how to be involved.
Where can we find all the links and more information about the event?
You can check out the Pink Day in La Official Website here.
Okay this sounds amazing so far – are their events and/or prizes involved?
Yes and Yes! We will be posting the official hosting servers after our September 21st meeting, along with the somewhat complete donation and ingame prize list! You will have several ways to win:
1. Tuning in via the Gaming World Entertainment Network Radio Stream .
2. Donating $10 CDN or more to the event donation page which can be found here .
If you do so – you will be able to choose a number from 1-1000 and have a chance to win from a large number of amazing prizes! The list will be updated with photos through September and October as we are still receiving donations – so check back often! See the rules about the Donation Prizes on the official Pink Day website!
- DONATE BEFORE THE END OF SEPTEMBER TO BE ENTERED IN FOR AN EARLY BIRD PRIZE DRAW (you still are eligible for the donation prize list as well) If we reach our early goal of $1337.00 we will make the draw, we promise that the winner of the early bird prize will NOT be disappointed!**
3. Participating in the many events that will be going on ingame on the servers that are participating – check back after September 21st to see if your server is hosting or where to guest! Prizes will include both ingame and real life prizes.
I am from a European Server – am I going to be able to participate?
Yes – we already have at least 3 European servers participating and we will ship any Real Life prizes to other countries – including Australia and New Zealand! So no one will get left out!
I am poor and really can’t donate to the event- can I still win things and help out?
ABSOLUTELY! The best way to show your support is to come out to Lion’s Arch on October 19th and wear pink! Spread the word and check out the media kit on our website. There are a number or posters and pictures you can sport on your Twitters, Facebooks, Websites etc etc.
ALSO – Follow us @PinkDayinLa and use #Pinkdayinla to spread the word! We want the entire Guild Wars Community to know about this event and be able to support the cause and win the prizes! We make several announcements here as well!
Can you give us a sneak peek on the prizes for the event?
Yes – some of the items you can look forward to:
- 2 Guild Wars 2 Pocket Watches that are engraved – 1 North American Winner and 1 European winner
- 1 Guild Wars 2 Collector’s Edition
- 1 Arenanet Autographed Steel Series Mouse Pad
- Guild Wars 2 Artbooks
- 1 Portal Gun from Portal \o/ (The cake might be a lie, this is not!)

- Elder Scrolls Online Swag!
- Ingame Codes – including Gems and Mini Mr. Sparkles!
- 1 Autographed Jonathan Coulton T-Shirt

and much much more! (Did we mention that we have been gathering ingame items like crazy? Ectos anyone?)
Let’s paint Lion’s Arch Pink – October 19th! See you there or be eaten by a Charr (Just kidding – but we might just give you over to Scarlet to turn you into soup) :o

Hey everyone,
With Tuesday’s release we are gearing up to launch the new Looking For Group tool for Guild Wars 2. As the system comes online, our primary focus is with the quality and the stability. To ensure a solid rollout, we’ll turn on the LFG tool in beta form to a subset of players. As the week goes on, we’ll periodically unlock the system to additional groups of players.
In Tuesday’s release notes, you’ll see the complete list of what the feature will do once we’ve fully unlocked the system. However, during the beta rollout not everyone will be able to use the LFG tool and the World vs. World subcategories will be disabled.
The Looking for Group feature has been highly requested and we’re excited to be this close to its final release, but quality is paramount. Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding while we work through this phased beta rollout and with any problems we encounter.
Thanks,
Mike Zadorojny
& the Looking For Group team
This has probably been bought up many times before in various forms but I wanted to get this suggestion off my chest as I feel that on the whole it is a lot less demanding for the developers than some of the larger requests to fix WvWvW. I think if such a change is implemented it would be stage one of making WvWvW a more organized environment and to a certain extent less zergy if utilized properly.
When a commander decides to pop their tag they get three options; Public, Guild and Party.
PUBLIC COMMANDER TAG
A public commander tag would be typically utilized by the map commander, militia commander or mixed group commander. This tag is viewable by anyone on the map. Anyone who opens up their map, whether they be militia or players from other guilds can see this tag. There should be no color changes / image changes for the public commander tag. It should stay as the current default blue dorito icon. Diversity in this tag would lead to a lot of confusion for the masses.
GUILD COMMANDER TAG
A guild commander tag would be gold/brown in color and have the guild TAG over them. This icon can only be viewed by OTHER COMMANDERS as well as your fellow guildies on the map. This allows for the militia commander to easily keep track of friendly guild groups and coordinate with them easier. It also gives the option for the guild groups (that currently use ctrl+T) to run by themselves but still avoid attracting the masses.
There should be no color or image changes for this icon either but it should definitely have the tag on display to differentiate between the various guilds. Here is a quick sample of such an ICON.
http://i.imgur.com/QgzXr0N.jpg
If the tag being displayed above the icon could lead to making the map extra cluttered, I would recommend instead to display the guild when you hover over the icon. For .e.g currently it shows up as Commander Theongreyjoy but for the guild tag it would simply show up as [ZN]Theongreyjoy when another commander hovers over the icon.
PARTY COMMANDER TAG
Again people might ask why does a 5 man group need a commander tag. The primary benefit of this is not for the five map party but for the main commander on the map trying to delegate tasks among various parties. This especially applies very much so to home borderland maps where lot of tasks have to be done by various individuals and parties to keep a smoothly functioning map. Zerging is often detrimental in this map. Having party tags will improve the macro-managing skills of the main commander. He/She can keep track of any experienced havoc squads and experienced camp flipping parties simply by opening their map. Instead of the commander always having to ask “Whose that at Lake tower? Is that us or server Y?” he can simply pop his tag and see that a havoc group is behind enemy lines trying to ninja that tower.
The only restriction should be that the party commander option is only allowed if the party is full at five members. Otherwise there is the potential of many people running their tags aimlessly with just one or two other people in their party. This would also encourage people to party more and work together.
The party commander tag should have a little bit more variety since parties often consist of members from various guilds etc it wouldn’t make that much sense to treat them like guild commander tags. I would suggest to have a completely separate icon as compared to the guild and blue Dorito.
CONCLUSION
Providng the commanders and the guilds tools to delegate easier in the form of diverse commander tags should over time lead to less dependency on the single blue dorito and therefore less zerging and blobbing. I expect initially people to actually be inefficient if/when this feature is implemented like any video game community to go crazy trying out the various tags and actually not helping the main commander at all.
However, when the ‘newness’ of such a feature is done quite a few servers will start applying them properly; for better macro-organization, better inter guild coordination, better party delegation which should lead to less zerging/blobbing meta.
i would suggest it would be best if the commander tag can be bought + and some random hard quest to be completed before it can be bought. problem is a lot of people has money and just buys it, then on WVW they just freaking trolls around.

You used an exploit in the game. The evidence in irrefutable. The only error that was made was in giving a lengthy suspension instead of terminating the account. That has been or will be taken care of today.

Well GJ Anet! Since I already had a unique password that was different from the others I have, now I’ll have to put one I use on another game/site. Great way to make me less secure!
Well, after reading through this travesty of a thread, I feel I could help some of you who find it too difficult to create a new “unique” password. My wife made me promise to compose this in a way that is least likely to get me infracted. I’ll do my best. Whatever you do, do not reuse passwords.
Easy ways to create a new “Unique Password.”
Method 1.
a. Look around the room you are sitting in.
b. Find a thing that looks like a stack of paper that is surrounded by two thicker
pieces of paper (sometimes these are hard). Pick this up. It is called a “book.”
If you don’t see a book anywhere near you, get out of your chair and look
around. You may actually have to look in another room.
c. Open the book anywhere observing that the letters look like the language
you’ve been taught to read. If they don’t, you have the book upside down
(or you’ve picked up an instruction manual in multiple languages; in this event,
find the section in your language and reopen to a page in that section.)
d. Find the first word on the page – write it down.
e. Find the page number – write it down.
f. Find the last word on the page – write it down.
NOTE: for even more randomness, use the word that matches your birthday.
i.e. if you were born on the 5th, use the 5th word and the 5th word from the
end.
g. Make your password firstwordpage#lastword. Capitalize some of the letters.
h. You now have a random password. Keep a private HANDWRITTEN journal
somewhere that tracks your password. To be even more secretive just write
the site/game name and the name of the book and the page number.
If you are unable to locate a book in your entire house, go to a library. (I’ll avoid snarky comments about learning to read, getting off of your computer and out of your basement, etc.)
Method 2 – If Method 1 is too confusing or too complicated for you.
a. Place your right hand (or left hand, if left-handed) with the palm firmly against
the back of your head.
b. Lean in real close to your keyboard so that you can clearly see the keys.
c. With a rapid movement pull your head down until your face makes full contact with your keyboard. Hint: The more times you repeat this step, the more secure your password will be.
d. Write down the sequence you see on your screen once your vision has cleared.
e. See step h above.
I hope this helps some of you password-challenged individuals.

Its always in wvw when ppl getting a bit too mindless and jump off a cliff when the person leading had a fall skill.
If all your friends jumped off a cliff…
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
I was just reading a short thread about someone getting bored with the lack of gear grind.
I smiled a bit inside.
Not everyone has the composure to farm the same banal content over and over until they have the bestest best baubles and lord it over people. This game is for people that want to be on primarily equal footing.
Take myself for example. I’m a tried and true “medium-core” gamer. I love a nice complex system and a few long-term goals to work toward but especially difficult content or unfriendly people cripplingly frustrate me. I can’t stand dungeons due to the incessant number of overpowered damage dealing "whatever"s, I’d be WILLING to try fractals if the elitists weren’t hoarding all the parties, that sort of thing.
And it turns out I don’t have to do things that way, I can get my gear for the most part from other content to get in a better spot and THEN try some of that harder content again IF I choose.
I’m happy for that personally. This game IS for me.
I tried using the search feature for this, but I either wasn’t specific enough or any topics/posts on this has been deleted.
Anywho….
Does anyone know why the gorgeous log in screen that was used during the Beta weekend events was dropped for the current version that we have been using since launch?
I thought that was one of the best log in screens I’ve seen in any MMO I’ve played in my 14 years of on-line playing.
Do you think there’s any chance we could get that back?
