Mine already does that, except for getting the loot part, the stupid thing returns with aggro’d mobs! yea!
And I never told him to attack in the first place!
My Ranger got picked up by a passing Liberator and took me somewhere else I did not expect. Although I feel the land of GW2 to be polished and well done, the broken class mechanics were soon forgotten as I traded by Longbow and Horn for a Prowler with armor piercing shells.
And for the meantime at least, games are fun again.
I am a glass cannon build, 30/30/5/0/5, full CoF power/prec armor and Ranger Rune lvl 80. AC Ghastly LB, Mystic Crescent SB.
And I have a hard time (mostly) terminating DOWNED players unless I open up on them with QZ, etc abilities. Is this a Ranger issue or not? WTH am I doing wrong? lol.
Ranger is the premier underwater class.
Not really. My mesmer decimates rangers underwater.
I’ve yet to lose an underwater fight on my ranger against anything short of an 1v8…
Please post a vid of you winning 1 v 7, please.
I have a few gems left over and would like to buy some balancing, bug fixes, working pets, proper WvW survivalability, you name it. Just add them to the Black Lion panel for a reasonable cost.
Would that help move things along?
I am willing to spend those gems, as opposed to, say, rerolling a Warrior, Thief, or Mesmer.
Thanks.
Although I don’t pay a sub fee, which ultimately does have the outcome of me sticking around vs. bailing as I did in SWTOR, I won’t give Anet the excuses for not polishing my chosen class.
Anyone who has leveled and loved a class only to find out they are terrible in their chosen end game environment (WvW for me) is a let down of huge proportions. Would I feel as bad say, if, other classes were complaining rather equally about their toons? No, because that’s a better form of “balance” than we have today in the game. Rangers are relegated (regardless of build) to little more than fodder that require far less to kill than the damage they can put out in the same span of time.
I am ok with “glass cannon” builds. It forces me to hone careful play, and to choose fights wisely and to depend more on my group than with more stout builds, but when the class balance is lacking and the bugs exacerbating those problems take away the fun I am supposed to be having, one can’t help but wonder where Anet is spending their time.
I am glass cannon build, full CoF power/prec armor + full set of Ranger Runes. Crit is around 58% without outside buffs.
I enjoy Longbow lots for Barrage, both using against advancing hordes in WvW and keep assaults on walls. I’ve killed lots of people who don’t get out in time and I think it’s underrated for this reason. For 1v1, not the case. I get anxiety if I try to fight this way with LB so I switch to Axe/Horn and SB for those. But I carry all + a GS in inventory with me.
But I still feel the Glass Cannon build Ranger is around 70% Glass and 30% Cannon. The class, especially the build, need help.
Bugs alone are frustrating, but when you calculate a lack of Balance for this Ranger build, it adds insult to injury.
I noticed while stunned, as the tooltip said it was supposed to, that it DOES NOT break stun. I thought the problem was perhaps on my box.
It’s a skirmish breaker for me, as my glass cannon build barely survives Thieves’ uncanny insta-close-gap > insta stun> insta high dps abilities without a working Lightning Reflexes.
Yes!
Anything that makes my “Ranger” actually feel like one has my vote.
Just think of it this way, if Aragorn was a gw2 “Ranger” instead of the one he really was, he wouldn’t have made it beyond the first installment.
You KNOW I am right.
Maybe we can buy bug fixes and balancing with our gems?
Would that get Anet off their behinds to help Rangers out?
Also – I do have the AC Greatsword (Also Power/Prec) and Ghastly Longbow in inventory, but have not used them much in WvW (my main place to be nowadays). Longbow I switch to for keep assaults and defense, however.
Although all the negative Ranger posts don’t do much to cheer me up about my class, I am a very casual player and don’t have a lot of time to level alts.
That said, I am looking for a little help on rounding out this setup, mainly weapons and bar abilities. Here’s what I run so far. Armor is full set of CoF Power/Prec w/ full Rune of Ranger set. Accessories, Rings, etc are mostly Power/Prec/Tough.\
I’d also like some help on rotations. But any feedback on anything is welcome.
thanks

Hey NaturalPortman…
could you specify what this ‘unkillable’ Ranger build is?
thanks
The first thing that came to mind when I saw the bone, and “Kevin” was the colorful bird in the movie “Up!”. The kid gave the bird that name, and there is another bird of the same species, of which the bones are mounted onboard the bad guy’s blimp.
lol.
2 improvements I’d say are important to help with pets after many hours of playing (only) the Ranger class:
1. I am reaaaally tired of having to spam F3 after watching my pet run off towards mobs I did not ask it to attack nor are attacking me. This is especially frustrating in dungeons when my team is intentionally trying to skip this boss or that one. Pathing issues about as well, especially in dungeons.
2. When I dodge, my pet has no brains and just dies. If the animal has the “sense” to follow me or obey commands, it should have the ability to dodge when I dodge or do something similar.
These two shortcomings (bugs?) take away from my enjoyment from this otherwise really fun class.
Thanks… will do that.
I have a buddy who picked up gw2 and wants to join me, but my server notes “full” and will not allow him to join. Is there anything that can be done so he can play on the same server I am?
thanks…
Make masculine versions to go with the girly looking Legendary's for us men please

It IS possible to create a unique model for Legendary weapons without having to destroy an entire classes (Ranger) hope for such a weapon. Both LB and SB legendaries look ridiculous to say the least. How do you come up with Twilight then move onto sticking a UNICORN head onto a bow?!
The bright side is because of these models, I have no interest in farming the mats for them. So that opens up a lot more fun stuff to do. lol.
The Longbow by itself is meh, but since I pair mine with Axe/Horn, I am routinely hitting each ability then swapping weapons to do it again. I’ve crit 9.9k with my LB in PvE and am paying attention more now in WvW since I am playing more of it. I know I won’t be hitting for that there but the LB, paired with another weapon and swapping out is a great addition to the Ranger. I am Power/Crit/WS specc’d.
I agree with monepipi. I play a Ranger so the bows are of natural interest.
When I first learned of the models, I didn’t believe them. I thought the Ranger community was playing some sort of stupid joke. I actually kept searching for the bow models on the internet because I refused to believe, at first, those were the actual models.
For the crazy effort required to produce one of these things, at a minimum, the model should be one that makes me think, “now that is a sweet looking bow”. Yes, I play a Ranger.
But after looking at Kudzu and the Dreamer, I get a spared from such an arduous task. There is no way I will expend the effort and time to get ANYTHING that shoots unicorn heads and looks like it was designed for 6 year old girls.
Honestly, I don’t understand how those designs could have made it into the game. I am floored by them. I see the talent exists, though, because the GS and other weapon models are beautiful.
But Ranger legendary weapons make me want to cancel my sub. If I had one. lol.
THE DREAMER:
Player fires unicorn heads instead of arrows. These projectiles leave rainbow trails.
Tassles on the weapon sway with the player’s movement.
Is this a joke?
Can’t agree about LB. I picked up the Ghastly LB from AC vendor and not only is it a beast in looks it is a beast for dps builds and with QZ. I haven’t done a ton of pvp but the people I’ve hit with it definitely feel it. The damage is nice enough that I’ve put away my SB for a while and just go a/horn and LB. I will be back on SB soon, though, for more testing.
I went the route a lot of folks told me not to. But I was told not to do this AFTER I got 5/6 CoF pieces, lol.
I am a power and precision junky, so I ran lots of CoF and obtained the Power and Precision pieces from that vendor. My Power sits at around 2250, don’t remember Precision but it’s up there also. I tend to hug those stats on weapons, too. I left the default Baelfire runes in the armor until I make up my mind on what runes are best for WvW. I am thinking maybe balance out my stats some by getting some Tough/Vit runes? I am not sure at the moment as the runes (x6) is not cheap.
Anyway, I ran WvW this weekend in that gear but failed to understand why people were telling me the “glass cannon” build doesn’t work. I hit pretty hard, and not being too careless with my movements, I had a great time, downing multiple folks before I got downed. I will tinker more with abilities, specs, etc. The lovely thing about gw2 is there are lots of ways to configure your one class between gear, runes, sigils, traits, skill point abilities, etc. It’s well done, imo.
oh, and Im 30/30/10/0/0.
Really? as integrated karma is in this game, I’d expect to have some choices. How do you get skins with them, btw?
thanks again
I have Karma stacked up, around 65k, and nothing to note so far as what to buy. Suggestions?
I trait towards the Power/Precision builds, and normally use LB/SB, and Axe/WH.
thanks.
This LB is purchased with AC tokens and I love the model, and the particle effects, when they work. Most of the time, they don’t display, but I don’t know if this is due to a bug or some action tied to the effects? They’re not “on” all the time. Sometimes, when stowed on my back, you see blue cloud-like elements emanating from the bow’s full length in an outward direction . When I use the bow, they disappear. After some idle time, the bow goes back to the rear, but no effects. It’s very inconsistent. When I first got it, I thought there would be some effects but saw none. Then, when zoning inside CoF, they appeared. Then went away for the remainder of the dungeon run.
Anyone else experience this?
thanks…
I’ve seen some pretty sweet looking bow designs from the dungeon token vendors in that fort in Lion’s Arch.
I especially like the AC versions. The LB is a beast.
Helpful, thanks.
I was in an AC group, don’t remember the path as I don’t visit AC often, but we came into a room with Graveling Burrows that popped up. The idea I caught was we needed AoE to cut down the number of spawns as melee took down the burrows as they popped.
We weren’t able to complete this fight because we had 2 rangers and the group leader said ranged weapons were no good in this fight.
Is there any truth to this? I imagine I can go into AC next time with sword/GS, right?
+1 /signed, yes, <bubble filled in>… etc
whatever we need to do to make our class work again, I am for.
I noticed JonPeters (GD) responded on the first page, 2 days ago.
Did I miss a response on his “checking this out on live” or are we still waiting? I’ve looked at all 8 pages.
It would be nice to have fun with my Ranger again. I don’t like what they did with the short bow.
I like this game. A lot.
Any motivation I had to craft a legendary bow of either type was gone once I laid eyes on the models.
Someone tell me its a joke. Pink Unicorns? Really?
wonderful, thank you
thank you for the help
Where do I pick those up? Thanks for giving me hope.
Story, of course. We are newbs.
I read my stones are able to copy models of armor up to level 79. LEVEL 79?!
I have an exotic level 80 I wish to switch for the model of a level 70 coat (chest) piece.
Please tell me there’s a way around this, otherwise putting in this limitation on the stones really, really sucks.
thanks
I saw some guides out there, but no information I could find that suggested the basics like what pets, signets, and other tidbits are good to use for this dungeon. In fact, I am a bit overwhelmed when trying to pick up all the info on all the fights. There’s a lot there.
My group is purely casual players, we have 2 Rangers, 1 Warrior, 1 Elementalist, 1 Thief. We’re not looking at clearing the whole thing, but would love to get a handle on the beginning stuff without too many wipes. I read it’s a tough one.
Any input is appreciated.
I logged back in and noticed the bump to crit, so it took a log out and/or client restart to see it.
My nephew’s account was hacked and used as a bot. The hacker also got into his email account because they changed his password. I don’t want to go through the same thing, and an RSA token addition would be a welcome security measure.
Please do more than email authentication.
The sheer variety of pets and the creativity that went into the non obvious ones (obvious being the wolf, dog, shark, etc) really made the Ranger stand out and a big reason I went this way.
This is a beautifully, well done aspect to the class and it has been enjoyed all throughout my play time thus far. You can have a companion that dishes out dps, poison, one that flies or crawls, swims or sprints, one that takes lots of damage (bear) or spreads AoE.
Nope, Arenanet deserves kudos for many reasons, and this is one of them.
This is either a bug or some cap to this stat. Anyone know that can educate me?
Thanks…
Btw, my crit is “stuck” at 33%. With or without the sigil in my short bow.
thanks,
Alex
Either:
1. They haven’t thought of that yet, but may put something in to help later on.
2. Their micro transactions model (though ok to me) is based partly on buying more space with your real cash, so why not make it harder for crafters to get the space they need until they open their wallets?
In 2 levels of Chef, I consumed all available bag space (5 10 slot rows, I believe) plus a purchased expansion of bank (3 more rows). With all the items you will create in crafting, this is inevitable to come across until you start managing your space and/or buying more rows.
