Showing Posts For Trimon.1028:
I wonder what will be in 2014 :o
-Personal Journal: Character-bound journals that has written entries about the NPCs you’ve interacted with, your relationship with them, the places you’ve been, the history you’ve learned about each location, and the events you’ve participated in.
-Newspaper and Bulletin Boards (news about the living story updates, making clear what is going on in the world right now, bulletin board lists all current activities like mini games, world events and has a link to LFG)
-Profession and Character-specific Quests: Upon logging in, your character is notified by an NPC that he has urgent matters to attend. This opens up a new line of character-specific quests based on your profession, race and the characteristics you chose when you made the character. These quest lines eventually leads to the 3 Mission Outposts (yes, like in Guild Wars 1) that either take us to Maguuma Wastelands, Far Shiverpeaks or Crystal Desert. It is then that the 3 imminent threats are revealed to us. And you know who they are in each of those locations.
-New Race: New threats have caught the attention of the Tengu and they are allowing a representative of each of the Orders into the Dominion of the Winds. This is a new quest line that you can participate once you’ve attained a new rank in your Order by completing some tasks. The Tengu wants to Order to share information about the Elder Dragons. In exchange, they will offer their help in venturing into the Maguuma Wastes, Far Shiverpeaks or Crystal Desert.
-New Weapon Types: New profession-specific quest lines open up opportunities to learn new weapon types. Seek a mentor in the Far Shiverpeaks that will teach you how to use a Lance. A tribe in the Crystal Desert will teach you their art of Scythe wielding in exchange for your lessons in Axe combat. Go on a hunt with a band of natives in Maguuma Wastelands and learn how to shoot a Crossbow.
-Guild Halls: With new threats rising, it becomes clearer than ever that people have to unite. Destiny’s Edge reforms. Guilds across Tyria build strongholds called Guild Halls to prepare for war. Guild Halls can obtain their own custom bulletin board, newspaper, menagerie, merchants, portals, and dueling arena.
-Dueling/Sparring: New threats create urgency in everyone. Tyrians are training for combat and learning new skills and new weapon types. Tyrians are also getting into the habit of sparring and dueling. A player can challenge another to a duel out in the Living World. The outcome of a match may form a rivalry as the number of times you win/lose against that player tallies up.
-Patience/Focus (ie. stealth missions, figuring out enemy patterns, not getting sidetracked, avoiding temptations, ignoring distractions)
-Juking and Tricking (ie. throwing curveballs, red herrings, laying traps, figuring out where to lay traps, social stealth, camouflage, blending in with the enemy, wearing disguises, throwing distractions)
-Fear (ie. risk versus reward, fear of sudden scares, fear of loss, atmosphere, scary enemies, etc.)
-Teamwork (ie. clear communication, leadership, blame game vs. the bigger picture, being a good example, playing your strengths, roles)
-Reflex (ie. dodging, the right timing, quick reaction)
-Observation/Navigation (ie. looking for clues, following clues, spotting booby traps, navigation, looking for secrets, easter eggs)
-Morals (ie. dialogue choices, right and wrong, good of many vs good of few, the lesser evil)
-Accuracy (ie. aiming, your vision, distinction, following the enemy, keeping eye on the target)
-Logic (ie. logic puzzles, riddles, physics puzzles, math)
-Speed (ie. racing, best time completion, speed runs)

So many are getting excited about the new skills right? Yeah
Many people liked the concept of actually earning your elites in Guild Wars instead of just buying them for points. I know I do. It feels like you’re Mega Man. Anyway, how about we introduce the concept of skill mastery in Guild Wars 2. I mean, we go on a quest to master a single skill we already have and learn the elite version of that skill.
Take “Retreat” for example. Simple Guardian skill right? Well how about we make it even more awesome by going on a quest to find a Master Runner. He challenges us to RUN to the top of a mountain and take down a formidable foe. After this he shows us that we have already mastered our “Retreat” skill. Now we can equip the Elite Skill version of it called “Blazing Retreat” which will leave a trail of blue fire as you run away.
Of course, you can only equip one Elite at a time. Also if you equip “Blazing Retreat”, then you cannot equip normal “Retreat”
So that whole map of the planet tyria has already been leaked and many say they’ve locked themselves in (ArenaNet) but what about the other realms and planets hmm? Maybe the reason we (in real life) haven’t figured out space travel yet is because we lack the perspective to do so. We think we’re light years apart when in fact the galaxies are stitched together by branches of the Great Tree and we just haven’t figured out how to travel the distances via REALMS not SPACE.
Let me know what you think. Just having some fun putting together ideas of new skills. So excited for them > . <
Light of Judgement (Guardian) – cast a big spotlight to target location; for the next 10 seconds enemies inside the light produce a shadow clone of themselves that autoattacks them whenever they activate a skill. Allies in the light gain protection and might.
Cursed Legacy (Thief)- Target enemy leaves behind a trail of shadows wherever they go for the next 20 seconds. All enemies standing on the trail are damaged. If the caster stands on the trail, he will swiftness.
Scapegoat (Thief)-
For the next 10 seconds, target enemy becomes an enemy of his allies. He is affected and damaged by all skills and attacks of his allies.
Bane of Existence (Mesmer)-
Target enemy is shrouded by a big cloud of mist that is stuck to them for the next 10 seconds and is only visible to the enemy team. Enemies inside the cloud cannot see each other. Enemies inside the cloud cannot receive boons from others and cannot give boons to others.
Golem Ward (Elementalist)
Create a slow-moving golem at target location that doesn’t attack but emanates a radius of unstable ground that interrupts enemies activating skills other than #1 around it. Enemies that touch the golem are knocked back. The caster can toggle the golem to stay or follow enemies. Golem lasts 20 seconds.
Wormhole (Engineer)
Construct a wormhole that slowly pulls in nearby enemies to its core for the next 5 seconds. Enemies that don’t escape get sucked into the core and are teleported above ground and fall down from the sky for medium fall damage.
Beast of Entropy (Mesmer)
Spawn a cosmic beast that lasts for 30 seconds and avoids enemies but stays nearby allies. Every 5-10 seconds, the beast roars, emanating a blast radius that doesn’t damage but shuffles the skills between all enemies caught in the blast, even mixing up skills cross-profession.
Soul Envy (Necromancer)
For the next 10 seconds, tentacles come out of your body and you hover above ground when moving. Activate the skill again to latch your tentacles onto the nearest enemy with more health than you and leech their health. The amount you leech is the difference between your health and theirs.
Make an Example (Elementalist)
Encase the target enemy’s feet with crystal, immobilizing them for the next 3 seconds. During this duration, nearby allies receive any boons that the target receives and nearby enemies are struck with lightning whenever target attacks or activates a skill.
Vengeful Spirit (Necromancer)
Summon a vengeful spirit that is invulnerable and follows one target enemy. Whenever target enemy causes damage near the spirit, all enemies nearby are damaged for half the amount he causes.
Paralysis (Ranger)
Shoot an arrow coated with a paralyzing toxin at enemy target. For the next 10 seconds, target enemy bleeds, losing more health when he is moving and leaves behind a trail of blood. However, if target enemy stands still for 1.5 seconds, he becomes completely paralyzed for 5 seconds.
Hangover (Warrior)
All enemies around you are affected by hangover. For the next 10 seconds, ally and enemy shouts cause a bit of damage to them and puts them in a daze.
Capacitor (Engineer)
Construct a capacitor that absorbs spells cast by allies and enemies within the wide radius around it. An indicator on it shows how much energy it has absorbed from spells. Once it has maximum energy, it discharges a huge blast that knocks down and damages all surrounding enemies. You and allies can also go up to the capacitor and press F to use up some energy to apply health regeneration.
Souls Fortress (Guardian)
Raise up a spirit tower that cast a beacon of light into the sky, calling all spirits of slain enemies and allies in region to come to it and defend it. Spirits will have the same skills and stats of their respective bodies. For the duration the tower is up (60 seconds), the defending spirits will attack enemies that go near the tower.

are you asking for bathing suit armor?
Ok so opening up each area will bring up certain directions for the Living Story to take:
Isles of Janthir – researching Mursaat technology?
Woodland Cascades – more on Centaur and their lore
Far Shiverpeaks – take the fight to Jormag
Bloodlegion Homelands – more on Charr lore
Maguuma & Magus – delving deeper into Sylvari and Pale Tree origin and purpose, possible Mordremoth
Scar of Kralkatorrik – way to Crystal Desert, take the fight to Kralkatorrik possibly or whatever is in the remains he left behind
Crystal Desert – oh man lots of history here; old ruins of ancient civilization, undead, Forgotten? Tomb of Primeval Kings, Ascension, Glint’s doorway, road to Elona…
Deldrimor Front – more on Dwarves, their lore and their keeps
Orr Remains – is Zhaitan really dead? more on Arah, ruins of the old city of the gods
Dominion of the Winds – more on Tengu, lore and possible new playable race?
Don’t forget the trolls
I think the game will introduce two sides soon: Pro-Scarlet and Anti-Scarlet. After Scarlet announces her controversial plans to take over the Elder Dragons.
why does that huge Tyria map look like a giant fish head? Is the Tyrian continent some humongous beast? Have we been living on the head of a humongous monster?
Map of New Zones:
http://i.imgur.com/n79H5Pe.jpg
So before they open up other continents, which of these zones on the existing map would you most like to see opened up in an expansion or living story update?
Indigo: Isles of Janthir, Janthir Bay
Red: Woodland Cascades
Orange: Far Shiverpeaks
Lime: Bloodlegion Homelands, Blazeridge Mountains
Purple: Magus Falls
Pink: Maguuma Wastes
Sand: Ring of Fire
Lavendar: Scar of Kralkatorrik
Dark Red: Crystal Desert
Blue: Deldrimor Front
Baby Blue: Scavenger’s Causeway, Elon River
Yellow: Sea of Sorrows, Dominion of Winds
Brown: Tarnished Coast
Gray: Orr Remains
So after 250 years and isolation, what would your reaction be if this is what Cantha looks like when you first step foot in it in Guild Wars 2?
Well the Guardian is sick of people’s **** you know?
New Guardian Skills:
Cursed Legacy – Target leaves a trail of poison wherever they go for a duration of time. This trail remains for a long period of time and harms both the target and his allies if stepped upon.
Misery – Target loses HP over a duration of time; intensifies the more boons and conditions they have.
Bane of Existence – Target becomes invisible to their allies and is unable to give and receive boons and heals.
Soul Envy – you hover towards your target with dark tentacles coming out of you and latching on your target to drain their health for a duration of time. If target does not break free of it in time, they become petrified for a short duration.
Call of the Reaper – Mark your target. The target dies instantly after a random duration of time if they do not have at least one boon up.
Sinful Living – Mark your target. For each boon that they receive during the duration of this mark, target loses X amount of HP when the mark ends.
Hey I just wanted to share some ideas of some boss abilities, spells and obstacles that I’d like to see in the game in future boss battles.
-A big spotlight follows one player around. It sucks up the player into the sky slowly at first but then rapidly. If the player doesn’t get out of it or swim out of it (in the air) in time, then they will be whisked into the sky and fall down from a great distance that will kill them if they don’t aim their landing into one of the pools of water.
-All the candles in the hall are blown out save for one randomly candle in the distant. The room is totally dark and players must rush to the remaining light. The boss will possess a random player still in the dark. Allies will have to down him/her to knock them out of it.
-The boss flaps his wings for a long duration of time causing a cone of gusts of wind that pushes back players inside the cone. Pushed too far and players will fall off the arena have to run back up. All the while, the boss charges a shield that, if not broken in time, will explode causing massive AOE damage.
-The boss spawns hordes of tiny hopping bugs that latch onto players. Your team must work together to push them away, kill them as much as possible or run away from them. The more bugs latching onto you means the more the boss leeches your HP.
which ones are you talking about? When do they play in the game?

What is your favorite track of Guild Wars 2 T^T
It’s a beautiful game with a beautiful Soule. Tell me what you feel like when you listen to it.
Like Knight of Embers, that sounds like countrymen being inspired to act and burning the midnight oil to prepare for a great battle. Walls of Ebonhawke, oh my that sounds like an inspiring speech from a great leader during troubled times. Sea of Sorrows T^T so much history. Heritage of Humanity T^T such a beautiful rendition of Warrior’s Heart first time I heard it in the female human intro it made me cry like this T^T Seraph oh wow this is what Judgment Day will be like. A Land Restored is such a subtle beauty that I hated it at first and then I learned to love it and I kick myself for once hating it. Great Wall Has Fallen is such an atmospheric piece about the trouble times we live in. Fear Not This Night wow I will never feat it again!
And then Tengu Wall T_______________________________________________T it is a mix of peace, serenity, history and trouble times that we’re fighting through, but we ARE fighting.
Whose domain would you most like to see next and what do you think it’ll look?
Kralkatorrik (Crystal, Sand, Hurricane)
Jormag (Ice, Power, Cult)
Primordus (Underground, Lava, Fire, Stone)
Deep Sea Dragon (Underwater, Tentacles, Bubbles)
Mordremoth (Jungle, Poison)

Balthazar (War, Fire, Challenge, Valor, Hounds)
Dwayna (Air, Healing, Life)
Lyssa (Illusions, Beauty, Water)

Those who lose hope are the first to fall :S
But its just like the apocalypse ! :O People have to move in order to survive. Find the ones who have strategy and stay with them!
MINOR SPOILERS FOR WORLD WAR Z******
This is awesome! Teqautl Rising may be my favorite update yet!
I just watched World War Z and it reminded me of Blackgate and how they were the first to figure out the strategy to win. After it became apparent that they did, people were by the hundreds and thousands moving over to the server to try and “survive”. It’s just like Israel in the movie where they built a huge wall to block the zombies. And just like Israel, Blackgate wanted to help those who needed help. Blackgate is helping overflows win just like Israel let in people from outside the wall.
Please Anet if you have the guts make a zombie-like apocalypse in Tyria one day. Make pretty much all waypoints contested save for a few “sanctuaries” that some communities build up themselves. Communities like Blackgate that first figure out the strategy to survive will be the ones left standing and building these sanctuaries.
yeah it’s pretty obscure, but get someone in the main server to “ferry” you over (get invited to their party and right click on their portrait). Ask a guildee.
Also ask if the commanders are on Team Speak or Mumble because it makes a world of a difference. At least ask around for the strategy. This is old school level of community cooperation.
(edited by Trimon.1028)
nothing good
we just beat him on stormbluff isle first time too
Here are some ideas for future community-wide boss battles:
-Spires that act as catalysts to amplify the magic of those standing around it. Spells cast near this spire turn into powerful nuke versions of those spells that rain down on dragons and big mobs of enemies
-5 squads. One squad to to keep the invading enemy at bay. They will shield and DPS. The other 4 squads split up and scour the map for centaur villages to slaughter. Collect Tamini blood and pour them into the cauldron in the middle of the map. Once there’s enough blood, a giant dragon will be summoned to fight by your side. This is a community summoning effort.
-Two big groups: one group deal with the ground efforts and the other group attack from the sky via Airships! A fleet of airships hover above the Elder Dragon below but they are being attacked by Aetherblade airships above them. Players who are good at jumping puzzle should volunteer to be in the sky group because the tasks up there require them to jump from airship to airship and jump to the top of ships to defend against Aetherblades from above.
-Or we can collect supplies and build giant Pacific Rim mechs to battle the Elder Dragons
This new Tequatl fight is so awesome and forces everyone to work together. I think this is a step in the right direction to break up zerg combat and make fights in this game more strategic. It also shows the potential for expanded squad features. The most useful squad feature I think will be squad colors and squad names
Commanders get to designate a color and name for their squad. That way they can divvy up the roles of each group especially when it’s much needed like in the Tequatl fight. One commander will designate their squad as the “DPS” squad with like a red color. So DPS group follows the red dots on the map. Another will name their squad “Turret Defenders”. Etc.
-Intentionally get cursed into madness by a boss monster. Try to find the most secluded place and seal yourself a way in it so you don’t go attacking innocents. Meditate on this madness and log off your character for a day. When you log back on you will learn a new skill.
-Take pictures of the symbols on the temple wall in the game. In real life, learn more about the symbols’ meaning and origin. Find what real-life culture used these symbols and find a location in the game that looks like it has a similar culture to it. Search this location’s temples for the same symbols and unlock the mysteries that might reveal some hidden vaults.
-Learn a secret recipe by talking to NPC housewives. Jump down a canyon and locate a nest to collect a rare egg to cook.
-A shadow spirit invades the castle. It can only move in darkness so keep the castle lit. Motivate cowering guards with your shouts. If the castle becomes completely dark, rush up to the tower where the queen is hiding to protect her.
-Stalk someone in the night and listen and learn the notes of a short tune they play on a flute to open a secret garden.
-A rookie must make to the top of a deadly mountain to pass his examination. You’re the examiner. He follows your lead and your tests. It’s up to you if you want the rookie to pass the test. Obviously if he dies, he fails. And if you do, then he’ll die. You get to create the challenges during his examination. Jump across the chasm. Balance test. Jumping test. Kill a beast.
-It’s a global race to find the hidden sky island. Find a way to it. Learn to read a star map and build strong vehicle to navigate the storm clouds.
-Each night, enter the mind of this man as he sleeps and destroy his happy dreams until he goes mad.
-Figure out the best method and catalyst to cast a spell far-reaching enough to zombify the whole city at once.
-Observe an NPC’s daily routines and their likes and dislikes. Help them out so they fall in love with you eventually.
Hey so I just started watching some episodes of Hunter x Hunter because somebody mentioned it on this forum and this one episode had the hunters go through a examination that involved cooking. In order to pass, they had to make the best sushi to present to the judges. In the show, the hunters had to figure out that the best recipes required rare ingredients and they had to go on a scavenger hunt to track down “Spider Eagle Eggs” and some rare moss. They hunted down bears, jumped down canyons and trees to locate nests (Jumping Puzzle).
This’d be really fun in Guild Wars 2 since there’s quite an extensive cooking discipline already in the game.
I thought this could be implemented really well into the upgraded cooking later on. It could introduce a global quest to challenge everyone to be well-known cooks. There could be a panel of judges and then you’d eventually take your best dishes to serve to the queen. This could be a competition and the top cooks will earn special rewards.

That looks like a really cool tower and the concept is very interesting too. I just love one and one fights and there could be a lot of prestige involved like the Heavens Arena.
Oh yeah, so when the King of the Tower is offline, an NPC champion will just take his place. It could be the NPC version of the player with his skillset and traits and more HP.
Also, Tyria is real life _
(edited by Trimon.1028)
Okay how about you get a special cape you get to wear around when you hold the King of the Tower position. :P Each tower has its own uniquely-designed cape.
There’s got to be some other rewards besides loot. Like sense of victory, fame, power, position, etc.
Hey I was thinking. Players love challenges right? Players like to win and feel like they improve their skills. That’s why Dark Souls is so popular. Well I was inspired by the boss fights at the Pavilion and thought that Guild Wars 2 should have these Towers in a few locations of Tyria.
Players would be challenged at the entrance to enter the Tower and have duels with champion enemies at each level of the tower on their way up. Each level of the tower introduces a harder and harder boss. If they reach the top and defeat the final champion, they become the new champion and King of the Tower. After that, whenever a player makes it to the top of the tower, the current King of the Tower will be notified whenever he is online that he is being challenged. He can then choose to be teleported there to fight the challenger himself or let the NPC champion fight for him. However he will still lose his position as King of the Tower if the NPC loses.
The top 5 players who conquered the higher levels of the tower will be in the hall of fame at the bottom of the tower with their image on the wall.
Well Earth is a world which was the home of the humans and the Tyrian gods before they came to Tyria. They were aliens to the inhabitants of Tyria and they divided and conquered much of Tyria just like they did on Earth. Old habits die hard I guess.
Well during the apocalypse, some humans on Earth became ascended and were given power and responsibility to shepherd some of the humans out of the chaos they created for themselves. They were tasked to give the humans a second chance on a new world so that their legacy may live on in the universe. In time, the humans on Tyria will rediscover their lineage and will be allowed to come back to Earth.
Well I just think it’s like Thor, that there are many realms and one of the realms is the realm of Earth. I think that present day in Guild Wars is actually the future of human existence :O
So I heard that humans and the Tyrian human gods came from another realm or planet or something and I also heard that they came from actual real-life Earth! How exciting is that development? Was the Earth’s apocalypse what they had to escape from?
Yes, but you’re the one that piece together the information into collections of short stories about the world and its people. You could have one entry about the Foefire spell but then when collect the pieces of information around the ruins of Ascalon about Adelbern, you have a complete short story about the King Adelbern, his son and his kingdom.
Sort of like how the Pokedex automatically makes a record of every new Pokemon you encounter in the world, our Encyclopedia in Guild Wars 2 will log in entries of different enemies we encounter, spells and skills, regions, points of interest, books we read, NPCs we’ve met and our standing relationship with them, and etc.
I think this will help out people who want to be more invested in the lore in-game and also make it even more meaningful to search and interact with all the corners of Tyria!
Here’s a cool thing that I think would get more people into the lore. Besides having tabs on enemies, skills, regions, NPCs and such, there will also be a section for Stories. As you gather pieces of information from around Tyria, your Encyclopedia will automatically piece together bits and bits of bigger stories. For example, you’ve come across various poems, letters and items that help you piece together a love story between two characters in Tyria’s past. You can go back to your Encyclopedia to read this love story and learn more about some characters and the history of the world.
