I like to torture people who laugh and sometimes laugh at them.
I think it’s better to down them, but don’t finish them and then stop them when they are about to ress themself untill they give up. In 1vs1 i only gave up (that mean killing him) once against someone who wouldn’t give up after 7minutes lol. All that without using any emote.

My best /laugh moment was agaisnt a desolation guild few months ago.
I was roaming with my gf (me on my ele and her on engineer) and we had a necro who kept spamming /laugh everytime we died in 2vs10/20/30/40+

We downed him near the water gate on valley on eternal battleground and then she bumped him next to bravost (took a lot of time lol) on the spiders.
We were cheering at the spider (/cheer @) but that necro kept winning against them and wouldn’t give up, even if we kept downing him after he killed those spiders.
After 5min he called 4 of his guildmate and we farmed them for more than 10min. Everytime those 4 were dead, we were spamming /laugh @ on the necro (we still didn’t finish him even in 2vs5, all of his guildmates, but not him) and pulled spider after spider on him.
At the end his guildmate gave up and stood far enough from us and were using /cry emote xD We killed the necro and left.

Me and my gf are 31 and 25 years old, but we like online gaming to play against trolls, because it’s really fun to imagine people getting nervous over a game

Roaming in www is fun, but 99% of the time, you will only no match all of your opponents and win most of 1vs2 or 3+ if they are really bad, because you will mostly be fighting people who are really bad individually. It get boring after 1-2 hours and even more if you play like 6-10 hours everydays (i can play from work).
I used to mostly solo roam since the start of the game untill one year ago. Now i roam with my gf since almost 1 year (september 2013, i was on sfr between January 2013 and september, arborstone before that), but i still roam alone sometimes.
I was about to quit gw2 as it was really boring to roam alone before starting to play with her. 2 vs 3-5+ random www players is funnier.

If you really want to 1vs1, in EU you can go to obsidian sanctum arena. People there are usually a lot better than those you can catch alone or in a little group of 2-3 in www.
You can also play with an upscaled alt (don’t hit anything exept players and avoid group from your server, to lvl as slowly as possible. You can also move away without finishing the players that you beat), that way most of people in www will try to fight you in 1vs1 but still die lol

GW2 dev failed to be an e sport game when the game was still new, because it was so badly balanced, all that because dev like to play thief.
Whatever they do now, it’s already too late to make it a popular e sport game, so they wont work hard to make it fair and wil protect their stupid stealth meta.

If i don’t try to win, i can hold 15-30min 1vs1 agaisnt any thief with any build (most of them don’t stand a chance), but i would have no chance to kill him if he doesn’t want to really try because of the stealth+dmg+ insane mobility.

What gw2 really need, not only ele, is to nerf stealth to make it like every decent online game. You take a hit, you lose your stealth, or to add at least a skill to detect stealth to every class or to rangers and those in group with them, to make people want to play with them. That would also force the thief to learn to dodge and play.
For warrior, drop at least half of the regen possibility of the op noob build. Most of warrior can be killed, but if there is one who also know how to dodge, it’s impossible for an ele to outdmg the regen.

As long as every class wont be usefulll in tpvp, gw2 tpvp will be a big fail. Dev should stop to protect the class they are playing and make it a viable game.

I wont use the word “good”, because someone who play a broken op build warrior or play thief can’t be good, but you can’t kill a warrior in spvp who use an op build AND who know how to dodge (most don’t, they are average at that) while using D/F, because you can’t outdmg the regen, but you wont die either.
In www it’s different, 1vs1 against a warrior take 30sec to 2min max if they don’t run.

If you are on gunnar or desoolation i could also show you now it feel to die against a lvl 60.

I started to use D/F in late November 2012 and since the end of December 2012 i only use it, but i’m playing on EU
To make it work with D/F in www, i play asura, for the racial interupt, but i can still win without it, even if it’s harder.

I’m using my alt to try to attract people who usually run from a 1vs1 and kill them lol. But it doesn’t work well at obsidian sanctum for duel, most of people don’t want to try to fight.

I have got a naga and a g600, but i mostly use the g600 (i play from work and home, but i take my g600 everywhere) because of the extra finger mouse bouton. I use it for push to talk.
For swap attunement i use alt+1-2-3-4 all others things are at defaut setting.

It’s not about the fighting spirit, organisation, skill, unemployed or canadian, but the server is heavily stacked with every easy win french joiner.
So it’s really easy for them to have a good coverage and they don’t really need any strategy. They only need to have a low % of their guys to do the job, because even a low % is really a lot for non stacked servers.

I tried to roam alone on Kodash borderland for almost 2 hours and even if i go to where they aren’t supposed to be groups roaming there, it’s impossible to finish a 1vs1 agaisnt a Baruch bay if you don’t win in less than 45sec.
There is always his back up group who will come help him and then /laugh /dance or jump on your corpse, even if he was going to die in a 1vs1 a few moment ago xD

Yesterday night at least some of them tried to fight fair (instead of jumping with 2-5 more guys on a lone roamer who is fighting a 1vs1). A guy from RNV and i forgot the other one.

I’m an ex SFR and i used to be a forum warrior. What can i do for you ?

With dagger/focus, assuming that the targets are good :

Ranger
Necro
Thief
Guardian (no chance to lose, but take a lot of time to kill)
Warrior
Elementalist
Engineer
Mesmer

To me elementalist and engineer are still almost impossible to lose against and they are at the same lvl of difficulty, all the other below are close of 100% chance of victory or endless duel (over 10min against good lame perma stealth thief).

I met a good engineer (Kimoe.2607 7th in spvp ranking, each duel 5-10min in www, i won a bit more than i lost, but it was equally matched) and when i didn t know him, engineer where at the same lvl of difficulty as warrior. Since then i think good engineer are far harder to fight against, if you compare to any class. But there isn’t many engineer roaming and even less good engineers.

Mesmer are a pain to kill because of my poor mobility, but if i can manage to land a few interupt skill (racial asura + 2 focus skills), they are easy. So most of time they aren’t a problem, but good mesmer are too hard to control.

I can’t kill them with my usual D/F build, but with a 0/30/0/10/30 it’s really easy, as they mostly rely on regen and i easily outdmg it and with all defensive focus skill, you don’t take much risk against them. I also tried to perma troll dodge some stun wars (not only one) with my alt ele for almost 5min xD

Thief ? I’m always up for any duel and now my main account is also on AR.

Stalemate (without asura racial skill) or win, but it’s impossible to lose agaisnt a d/d at equal skill .

A ranged knockdown that lasts so much is a pretty good skill.If half of people here tried an actual competitive game lika a moba in their life they would understand things better.
Personally im trying to get the max out of the kit.Flame wall is at least a very long fire field,comet is great on stoping rezzers or stompers and fire shield really really works great when you are getting damage from many smaller sources of damage like pets ,clones,minions etc

Im not saying focus is bad. I’m just saying, compare it to dagger. why would you ever say water for focus is better than water for dagger. same with air. updraft is a million times better than gale anyday. RTL and winds have their places. Ring of fire is also a million times better than flamewall and fire grab a million times better than fire shield. dont assume stuff, please.

It’s not better, it’s a different gameplay.

With a dagger your mostly rely on your dps with a bit of very close range control, while with focus you rely on interupt to win.

In a 1vs1 situation, you have 0% chance to win as a d/d against a d/f at equal skill, because the d/f can cover his heal and interupt your 2 times, 3 (without any cast at 1200 range) if he’s an asura.

You can also roam alone in EB without following any commander and reply “No you !” at anything people ask or say in chat !

I’m looking for doing something useful as an offpeak solo roamer, fighting for supply camps, bloodlust points, dolyak, senty, etc… not duel. I did some time to time but it’s not arranged.

I’m just disappointed to see all these bullkittens on this forum about VS blob, VS runaway, VS kittens and seeing worst ingame from ennemies.

Really, what the point to stick 5-to-10 people to roam and camp into the ruins while there are only single roamers in front of you? You whine about blobs against you but you do nothing to make things change.

It just looks like PvE event, aggroing pack of mobs, running to cross the river and to lose aggro. But no matching in 1v1 or 1v2.

Well, just boring to be a solo roamer against SFR, as much as against Piken and RS tho.

The risk when you duel someone with your thief as a solo roamer (because most of “brave” roamer are thief, so i assume you are one of them) is that you can lose. That’s the reason why some people refuse to duel
I don’t see the point to play alone on the pvp part of the game to fight NPC.

For almost 2 hours of solo roaming yesterday with my low lvl elementalist at every fight i have lost against Baruch bay, i got some /dance /laugh /sleep or other emote from people who were killing me in a 1 against many.
When they barely saved their life while running away from a 1vs1 (even a zerk thief xD), no emote, same when i finally manage to get them and kill them in a 1vs1, they didn’t come back for revenge lol

I like when your groups of 4-5+ come for me and follow me for 4-5min before i decide to portal away :P

I’m new on Augury Rock with my second account (lvl 31 ele) and i think it’s my first time playing against Abaddon’s Mouth, so i don’t really know how their guild play.
The guild “Duel” (“1vs1 fair fight” or something like that) really have a sneaky name, it’s a trap ! I used a lot of “/point @” and “/threaten @” to one of their ele to show him i was looking for a fair fight (like the guild name made me think i was going to have) and once i started attacking, he ran away without fighting back to Klovan (i attacked him at golanta) and he came back with 2 others guys lol

Whoever die from an arrow cart doesn’t worth the slot that they are wasting in www.

I see a lot of our pugs dying from a single arrow cart (even lvl 80), when they are like 10-15+ stacked on a gate with a single guy in defense on an arrow cart …
That’s the kind of rally bots who are better dead at the start of a fight, because if they last longer or come late in the fight, they will rally more peole later.
Even when they miraculously manage to get a little better and become average, we still get more new guys that have to learn the hard way and make it a lot harder for people who have a working brain with 2 hands.

Hihey, what work against most of elementalist wont work against a D/F who stay calm.
You can as you said in theory backstab 3 times in 10sec, but you wont be able to, because you wont want to die and it will be more like 1 Every 10sec.

I see that you are on an EU server, so i can show you in spvp. Even we wont have the same stats, you will be able to see the gameplay, because you didn’t actually try D/F before thinking it wont work, like most of people.
I will be at home at 8.30pm GMT+1 and have a lot of free time to play untill the 10 september.

The safe and also my favorite way to kill burst class, is to make the fight last, because they can’t afford it.

Against good D/P thief it’s usually an endless duel, like against stun warrior or until one of us make a few mistake. If one of us die, it’s usually after 10-15min., but most of time it wont be me, because i have enough cooldown to survive more than one mistake.

Don’t forget that D/F have 2 (3 if you are asura and don’t take mist form) ranged (900 and 1200 for asura skill) interupt, 1 reflect ranged skill (that also cure 3 condition), one 4sec invulnerability (50sec cooldown) with wich you can fight or heal, shocking aura (never use it to attack, keep it for defense), magnetic grasp. No other weapon allow an elementalist to last that long against any class, so i don’t get how it would be possible to die even faster than with dd or s/d. D/F take less dmg and heal more over time, because it’s harder to keep attacking them or to try to stop them from healing.
With a dagger you will only have RTL to try gain some time, because you wont outrun a thief with it, updraft + earthquake that you have to use in very close combat range, shocking aura, magnetic grasp lighting flash, mist form and arcane shield, if you take it, but no 100% safe way too heal without being interupted, exept if you use arcane shield + lighting flash, but that’s too much cooldown used for that.

With the D/F skills (interupt and defense) + arcane shield + lighting flash + water evasive arcana heal and mist form, it’s way more than enough to last “15 sec” untill the next cooldown of ether renewal (15sec) and you can cover your heal with arcane shield, 5 earth or with lighting flash, if you are not stupid enough to use all your cooldown too fast.

I almost only roam alone since May (90% of the time, before May it was more like 70%) and i m used to figtht multiple opponent or fight several opponent without stoping, so i try to never waste my cooldown.
The best (but still lame build) stun warrior i tried to fight in 1vs1 even said that i had a lamer build, because we fought for over 30min without any of us dying (but i was trying to survive instead of killing him 70% of the time, since i can only fight in close combat and win with my interupt, two thing you can’t do much against stun warrior xD)
I almost never use mist form in 1vs1, but i keep it in case of mistake and i always have at least a defensive cooldown available that i will only use if an other one is almost available (less than 5sec).

On the screenshot, this is the stats with wich i’m roaming and as you can see, i’m mostly playing my elem, but 90% of it was in www (mostly roaming alone) and the rest in spvp and pve the first days (3 max) of the release of the game.
If i’m going to duel someone somewhere safe, i use glyph of elementals instead of the greatsword. You can easily cast the greatsword while being invincible to run away with a focus.

Most of people assume that focus is really bad, even if most of you never fought against a decent focus user. Why ? Because almost nobody use a focus, so almost nobody mastered it. With all the time i have spend roaming alone, i have only met 3-4 different focus users, only 2 knew how to use it at a decent level. One of them was with a scepter, but he had no chance to kill anything else as begginers, because scepter skills are too slow.
It’s the best setup for 1vs1, but if you play in group i agree it wont be the best.

SFR, i dont mind 1vs1 against you, but with a condition build exept with a necro, it wont be a fight. I m at work and will be online in 7h from now.

That terrible weapon as you say allow me to win every 1vs1 exept against good (still lame, but it end with a draw) stun warrior and always win against thief.
It’s a control fighting style, not a “i have to make it quick or i wont have enough cooldown against that class to survive” style.

In 1vs1 exept for fire skills, all focus skills are better. You can break the rythm of your opponent with all your control and the 5 earth DD skills is useless exept against begginer, even for an offensive build.

Go dagger focus, you can’t die against thief and most of them are freekill.
You have 2 ranged interupt skill (3 if you play asura) and you can heal at least once while being invincible, even if you are bad with your elementalist.

With dagger focus what matter the most are the timer of your interupt, not your burst.
Spam auto attack untill the thief is at 60-70% hp then let him think he can heal or go stealth, then interupt him and burst. Repeat until he die.
Best way to make it work is to let him think he almost got you and should push a little bit more. Use arcane shield while you have 40-60% hp and interupt him at the same time as the shield explode. Also work with 5 focus earth.

Well, at least they tried to fight in open field for once and without being close of somewhere they could hide.

We need more people to troll and stay close of Wemil without following him all of that while he’s leading, to help him improve his self control

Exemple : “If you are fighting 25 people while you are also 25 but with outmanned buff, you are still 25.”
It’s easier to understand that way.

Why don’t you make a video of equal number fight (with minimap on), or GvG ?

Seem like fun, i’ll try it tonight (glass and normal build) and i don’t think i’ll lose much by using it, since i use arcane shield, lighthing flash and mist form while roaming, but i only use mist form to finish my opponent when i’m fighting more than 1 guy. I’ll try to play without mist form then.

Fun fight in vizunha borderland against seafarer rest. All we have is 15 GoD 10 Invi and a few War and we wiped a blob with 50+ seafarers. Both BOOM and CON guild had to team up with blobs of 30+ to wipe us lmao.

Impressive counting. Almost as good as your skill on the battlefield. Just accept GvG challenges or u cant be taken serious …

I think us wiping your blob with an outmanned buff at hills and later at south supply camp is enough proof we are better than you. Anyway we will find out tonight when we have our real wvw event. Yesterday was just casual day.

I wasn’t there and i don’t even blob or follow commanders or play in group, so i don’t know it was true, but the best proof is … a proof.

I did an over 30 minutes duel agaisnt a good warrior with that build 2 days ago. None of us died, but i don’t think it’s possible to kill that kind of warrior with something else as S/D with an elementalist.
He was crying because i wasn’t doing enough dmg (I don’t have any decent burst with D/F, i fight and win by interupting heal with a good timing, so i couldn’t outdamage his heal/regen most of time, never took more than 70% of his hp) and i had no chance to kill him + i was supposed to have a boring build, so like his, because when he couldn’t stunlock me, he had nothing else to fight with … like me without my interupt or while i’m not being able to fight at close range :p

If you can’t win, or even worst, start to lose a 4vs1 and run away (when you are the “4”), use mesmer ulti Moa to win ! Well, that was kinda ugly to see, but still funny ^^

There is no smoke without fire, so it’s still fire related and enginner also have a smoke field

I know that there is almost nobody using focus in www (i saw something like 3-4 fighting with that in almost 1 year) and i think it’s not the best weapon for PvE.

I want a smoke field instead of a fire wall with the focus.

For reset or/and saturday night (not sure), you were on EB with 40+ people at least (with pugs) farming un-organised pugs.
I kept walking beside you, the closest as possible and most of time when you weren’t fighting, none of you (even pugs) were trying to kill me. So your commander tag was on with that much people with you, or your pugs were too nice to try to kill me.

Anything and any way, as long as we can get one …

I play D/F and this is how i like to fight at close range :

Do all the following thing until the “4.” step while spamming “1” air at your target.
1. Use Arcane Shield when you are at 60% hp or below. Lower is better, to let your opponent think that he has almost got you.
2. Use Shocking Aura before the last block of Arcane Shield.
3. When the Arcane shield explode, move back to let your opponent to start to heal. He should have something like 10 to 40% hp.
4. Interupt him with Comet (5 water) or Gale (5 air)
5. Use burning speed and Arcane Wave if you use it.
6. Take your bag.

If you are playing D/D, for the 4th step you will have to use lighting flash and Updraft (5 air).

I m using the 4th Arcana trait, so i have a little backup in case i missed the timing for shocking aura.
I have not much burst with D/F, so i win my fights by interupting the heal of my opponent.

With a focus you don’t win with burst damage, but by interupting the heal of your opponent with “5” water or “5” air.

You can dodge even if there is no daily for that.

I would give a +10% damage to thief if they would lose their stealth when they take any damage, like in most of online games where dev doesn’t only play this class and care about the balance.
I don’t have any problem in a 1vs1 agaisnt thief, but i can see that it can kill most of average players quickly even if you barely know how to play. When a decent player play thief (not many), it’s even more powerfull and easy.

Ele are good for dodging (so great for 1vs1), as we keep switching element with a Sigil of superior energy. The others classes could also use it, but i don’t think they switch weapon as often as we do with elements. We also have easy vigor access.

To me everything is ok, exept for the fire skills, they are not completly useless, but almost, mostly the firewall.

Anet should set back the explosion water combo as it was before. That mean that it work while you launch it in the area, because you have almost no chance to find an opening to make it land in the area field of combo while fighting alone.
