Veteran Karka have 2 bars of HP. You most likely got it down to 50% on its first form. You get exp for killing its first bar of HP. But if you did not contribute for the second bar of HP, you get no loot.

I know it’s a terrible system…

This should be explained somewhere. Thank you for the information! Meanwhile, I can hit Claw of Jormag just 10 times, walk away until he finishes, and still get the dragon chest.

I use the right mouse button to turn the camera. I tend to pause/slow down my movement when I change attunement. I simply want an option to bind scrolling through profession skills rather than binding individual buttons.

From what I hear, MF doesn’t increase your chance for loot period, it simply increases your chance at getting BETTER loot if you actually get loot.

MF won’t make you get a drop every enemy, but the drops that you do get will have a better chance to be of higher quality. You might get a green instead of a blue, or a higher level fine crafting ingredient, ect.

Basically, you won’t get more loot with MF, but you’ll get better loot.

When I do get loot it’s always one chunk of crab meat or one karka shell. How is that better?

There’s a similar mechanic already. When you use a buff like MF, then log off while it’s still in effect, the timer pauses.

There is a problem when the settler MF buff, a heroes banner buff, a MF booster buff, and a MF food buff yields ZERO drops and when there is a drop it is a SINGLE KARKA SHELL.

I want a dev to comment on this. Either something is very, very broken or the RNG is a sham.

Um… I don’t think that farming karka qualifies as part of the living story.
Anyway, are you using the MF buff that the settler negotiator gives you?

Yes. Plus a heroes banner, plus a MF booster, plus food. This isn’t a farming issue. This is a drop rate issue. I would be content with a constant drop rate of even common items. Instead, I get nothing. There is no point to spending time here other then a get in, get out scenario of events.

I went to southsun and spent maybe 10 minutes soloing a veteran karka. I got downed when he was at 50% health. Then the zerg came along and finished him, and revived me. I strolled over to his body expecting a reward for my work. There was NOTHING. No search option. Zilch.

I’ve found that 95% of the time, killing karka at southsun yields ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. You won’t even get a common item for your work here, and on the RARE chance you do get some form of loot for your labor, it’s a single karka shell or chunk of crab meat. Tell me, why should I continue playing living story content if there is no reward for doing so? You work to make living story fun and then diminish the rewards for said limited time content. There is zero reason for me to spend time in Southsun except for standing around and then spending five minutes tapping the karka queen for the guaranteed loot for my work.

I expect no better from dragon bash either. This is pathetic.

Hi, I want to bind my mouse scroll wheel to profession skill swapping. This is because my left hand is busy pressing buttons for skills; my right hand rests on the mouse and sees less action. Making this a binding option would also benefit those without a mouse wheel, since they could pick any other key that’s comfortable for them.

tl;dr I would rather scroll through my profession skills rather than press four differen buttons for each one.

Improving Tequatl the Sunless

Now that The Shatterer is on Tequatl’s level in terms of difficulty, it’s time to beef up Teq to a higher glory. Here’s where we can start:

-Tequatl’s Fingers should spawn more and closer to the dragon. I personally have seen maybe two at most near Tequatl himself; the rest are in the distance behind me. Players opt not to use the provided turrets, but instead rush straight up to Tequatl’s front-right claw (like The Shatterer) and do damage the old fashioned way. This leads into the Bone Walls.

-Bone Walls are meant to protect Tequatl from the turrets. However, as just stated, players seldom if not ever use these turrets. Tequatl’s Fear skill needs to last longer and occur more often. While players are running away uncontrollably, Tequatl should summon Bone Walls near his front claws and Tequatl’s Fingers in front of those walls to get a distance between himself and the players.

-Bloated Creepers are a wise choice for Risen mob, but they should spawn with a slightly greater density and attempt to move into the middle of the player crowd, in order to affect the greatest number of players. In addition, Risen Brutes should spawn at the same time to cause knockdowns to players on the frontlines, and these mobs should be veteran and champion class.

-The Risen around Tequatl’s landing spot vanish before he arrives. Why? There are enough Risen there to block players from moving to Tequatl’s spot before he has time to set himself up for protection. These Risen should rush to the beach nearest the waypoint as soon as Tequatl spawns in an attempt to block player advances.

-Players currently never have to worry about defending the Megalaser. More mobs, including veterans, should spawn around the laser and attack it with priority over attacking players.

-During the Tequatl event, the closest waypoint should become contested if it isn’t already. Players can decontest this waypoint for one minute by clearing all Risen in the immediate area. (Make a cap zone around the waypoint to show the area to protect)

-Tequatl is an undead champion of Zhaitan. This would logically give him necromancer abilities. Allow Tequatl to summon bone minions and risen thralls from downed players; this skill would take effect immediately and would not cancel any other skills Tequatl may use at the same time.

Addition: If possible, event scaling should take into account the total cumulative player level, as well as the number of players in the area. This is a level 40-50 zone, but the high amount of level 80 characters showing up to fight the dragon makes the boss far less challenging.

These world bosses are far too easy now. With time players have learned how to make better builds, for one, and also learned how these bosses fight. They’re scripted bosses—the attacks aren’t as wide-ranged and random as regular mobs. Here are some suggestions, both major and minor, that can be added as a “bandage” for the time being until there is more time to put toward making the bosses more complex:

Minor
-Buff the stats for the pulsing crystals. The players at this event know they need to go down so the dragon doesn’t heal himself, and they go down VERY quickly.

-Spawn more veterans and champions around the dragon. Give them excellent AoE damage skills. Players right now will clump up near the dragon’s right front claw. They are a prime target for any mobs with AoE/PbAoE damage skills.

-Make the pre-events more difficult. Escort the sentinels spawns no veterans or champions. Usually only two or three players do this event. If the event scales, force a default level higher than it is right now to make more players be required to complete it.

Major
-Add a new pre-event that happens at Lowland Burns. The waypoint will become contested as Branded forces attempt to occupy and defend The Shatterer’s landing zone. This event scales with the number of people waiting for the dragon and has a wide range (otherwise players will simply wait just beyond the event range).

-Give the dragon some new abilities. Make him beat his wings to cause knockdown and make his roar cause fear.

-Take a cue from Claw of Jormag’s corrupted ice. Ominous winds blow during this fight. Corrupted crystal particles hitching along with these winds could damage players and cause blindness from time to time. (Ever have dust blown in your eyes?)

I will be studying the world boss mechanics and habits of players and post more topics on each one. Or I may reply to this single topic to keep things cleaner. I want to see this change. Anet, this is Living Story potential and material. From a Lore perspective we know that The Shatterer is a rank given to Kralkatorrik’s dragon champions. It’s been a year since the first Shatterer appeared. It makes sense that Kralkatorrik would adapt to his repeated defeats and work to strengthen his next Shatterers.

I have finished map completion but i have nothing to show for it, no gifts, no shiny thing by my name, not a darn thing.

It’s a glitch. On world completion you should get a title, a star by your name that others can see, and 2 Gifts of Exploration. Usually, this is because you did not accept a reward from completing a zone. Try visiting each zone again and check to see if there is a shaking blue chest by your minimap.

Considering last night SoS let TC hit on FA’s SM whilst we were taking T3 towers in FA’s land deserves the 2v1 we faced this morning. Sides they wanted to reset our towers – it gives us a chance to teach our newer WvWers to upgrade our towers!

Anywho – shoutout to the awesome zerg fights last night – we didn’t 1v2 any fights where as we all tried to wipe each other. And Boy did we get wiped haha.

It however sucks that we still do /dance or /laugh on corpses :/
We will try to identify the offenders on our server whilst you can do that on your server ;3

Being offended by /dance, /laugh, or /shrug is silly. It will happen. We at TC often see it as a challenge; we will regroup and try a different strategy, and when it works I’ve seen some of us hit back with /bow

There is no need to manhunt for these people. It won’t help and will create inside fighting, which none of our servers need if we want to maintain the competitive fun.

Very impressive by TC and FA right now. SOS has 5 people in EB so what do TC and FA do? They each attack SOS and take towers that are undefended rather then fight each other. So much for how these mighty titans like a good fair fight. They avoid each other like the plague beating up on a severly undermanned server. Welcome to the new WVW ghosttown.

Trust me, you do not want to QQ about 2v1.

Crying in a matchup thread only brings more pain. Because tears are delicious.

CERN was not commanding then. Nightlight always goes after the bigger zergs. And considering FA is our nemesis, you can take heart that this was not a planned alliance.

I need to properly thank the FA human femranger in Mistwrought Vaults for waving and showing me where to jump instead of murdering me <3! I returned the favor twice, one by waving and cheering for a FA male warrior who made it to the vault room shortly after I did, and a second by waving to a passing SoS scout who found himself looking at the backs (and some fronts) of our zerg catapulting FA’s closest tower on FABL. (I told ‘em not to go after you! Lost sight so I’m not sure if any did give chase or not.)

How does more mindless grinding appeal to anyone? Like the thousand hours you need for a legendary plus the awful RNG isn’t bad enough. Said it once, I’ll say it again; the last thing this game needs is more mindless grinding.

Yet it appeals to people since there were a lot of people farming the Lyssa spot and were angry when it was taken down. There are many ways to bring up the drop rates of T6 mats to a more suitable standard. This is just one of them. You can either contribute and think of other ways to make this easier or you can stop posting.

Lol. There’s a word that would be quite fitting for you, but I’ll go with ignorant instead. A real MMO should eliminate farming and create actual enjoyable content that accomplishes the same purpose. If you want thousands of mindless hours of grinding, there are plenty of games that offer that. The last thing this game needs is more mindless grinding, and more people supporting it.

Okay. Please turn in your legendary weapons and crafted exotics and then gather your materials very, VERY slowly like the rest of us have to do. Talking down to farming when you already own all your stuff and don’t need it is ignorance.

Before the Lyssa nerf on T6 mats, we could find crystalline dust and other various necessities all around Orr, no matter if an event was going on or no. Someone then discovered an exploit (or method, whatever you want to call it) where infinite mobs would spawn, allowing a faster T6 gathering method. (Without farming, we need to spend 2-4 hours just running around Orr to kill things) We need these materials to have higher drop rates; too much depends on crystalline dust.

Here is the solution. Return the drop rates in Orr to normal. Increase the drop rates with increased magic find. (Incentive to buy more magic find things in the gem store) Change the Lyssa event to stop spawning infinite mobs. Instead, spawn a few waves of mobs followed by a champion or two. (Maintained difficulty)

Farming is a must-have method in any MMO. It is a general playing style. To this end, turn to dungeon instances. Arah, for example, has a part in the story mode where infinite mobs will spawn while a certain gate hasn’t been opened. This is where farming should be allowed. Here’s why:

*Instanced dungeon. It will not interfere with other players or any other dynamic events.

*Limited people. Parties of five are the maximum number allowed. This eliminates the bots: there is no massive ball of players to shield from death and damage. Players will need to be constantly alert. Bots cannot achieve this.

*Risk is equal to reward.

Additionally, I would like to propose that Temple event chests have a guaranteed drop of 5-10 T6 materials. That will encourage players to complete the events rather than press their luck massacring hundreds of Risen while ignoring said events.

You’re already RPing around a world that isnt, I dont think it would be farfetched to say to go a bit further with it. Not putting you down or anything, RPing is fun, but RPing in an MMO has its well, challanges.

A seriously roleplayer would want to roleplay and not be interrupted every 2 minutes by attacking NPCs.

This is Guild Wars, not Sims. RP around the events that happen if you can’t get away from them.

A server listed as ‘full’ just means it has too many people logged in at that time. A server can support infinite accounts tied to it, but a limited amount of those accounts online at once.

You just need to keep checking in at off-times, when the server status changes from full to very high. Usually it’s in the late mornings, EST.

150 laurels = 598 gold? seems legit. I’m sorry but this is a necessary evil right now and this would be impossible to implement without destroying the precursor market.

What market? There are maybe 4-7 precursors of each type up for sale at the moment. That’s not a market, that’s lucky sods playing king.

Lyssa was easy prey for Zhaitan (Lyssa event)

The High Priestess in Arah also mentions that Lyssa was killed by Zhaitan, but the Risen are very well known (or should be) for their psychological warfare, consisting of lies, trickery, and empty promises.

We do know that the Elder Dragons can reach into the Mists, btw. Jormag does with his minions, and it’s possible that Kralkatorrik is as well what with two portals to the Mists in the Dragonbrand (Tomb of Drascir and Tomb of the Primeval Kings). Zhaitan may too, given the Door of Komalie’s unknown state.

As for the gods’ location – what is known is that they are not on the world Tyria, nor in the Mists directly. This indicates that – if they even still exist – that they are on another world.

In the end, though possible, it is unlikely that the Lyssa priestesses (High and temple) are telling the truth. It would be a neat twist to see that the priestesses are telling the truth, imo, however on the flip side this means that Zhaitan was killed after absorbing a god’s power which is pretty much impossible because 1) too weak for being an Elder Dragon backed by a god’s power and 2) a god’s power cannot be destroyed and thus, when Zhaitan was killed, if he had a god’s power consumed then that power would have manifested and threaten to destroy everything like what happened when Abaddon was killed at the end of Nightfall – without a container, a god’s power goes rampant and effectively becomes a very powerful nuke.

Unless Zhaitan isn’t dead! O.O

During the Temple of Lyssa event, you can hear dialogue referencing that Lyssa fell to Zhaitan (claimed by the Risen Priestess) and then afterwords an Order member states she was lying. But she seemed unsure of herself when she said “She’s not dead, she’s just…not here.”

No Risen mobs spawn in the Mists, so Zhaitan can’t reach it as far as we know. There could be many possible theories. The Priestess really was lying, or the gods never actually left Arah but simply left their physical forms (left Tyria, the physical world). Or the dragons are powerful enough to reach into the Mists and extend their influence there. Or the gods are still in the physical world and simply on another continent. (The world map is quite large, according to the datamined beta map in the link below)

Two things:

1. Try the repair argument on your shortcut. Your local map could be corrupted.

2. Same as #1, but it could also be that you’re technically in combat. Is your HUD fuzzy just above your skillset? If it is, you can’t view vistas until you’re out of combat.

Farming is an issue when it involves a world event like Temple of Lyssa being incomplete. It’s worse when the farmers harass players who want to complete the event for the karma merchant/see what happens because they have never done it before.

A fix isn’t to remove farming altogether, but make sure farming spots don’t rely on such an important event being incomplete. If people want to bot, then by all means let them bot. Just don’t place them in any sort of interaction with other players that warrants a negative response.

Here’s an example solution: In Arah story, the first power node spawns endless waves of Risen until you open the gate to the champion Lich. Increase the drop rate of rarer goods like T6 materials here. The dungeon is instanced, it is limited to five players so there is some moderate difficulty, and most importantly it doesn’t clash with dynamic events in the living world.

I think Anet should make Monthly achivs longer and harder.

It’s 1st of the month,and I already done 5 of them.
100 Events, WvW kills , etc.
And even my salvages at 270.

A monthly should really take like at least a half month, in my opinion.
Even at casual playing [so casual players can be happy too].

But the current monthly lasts only for a few days, then if you completed it….then you become a bit frustrated until the end of the month.
Because you want to do long-termed things or least monthly things,but you done everything in a few days :\

Dunno about you but I don’t usually set aside a day specifically for monthly. If I did, I would be in the same boat as you and complete half of it in one day.

And that’s a bad thing? There’s another topic here somewhere about how people have been buying precursors and then selling them for considerably higher prices. This laurel precursor merchant idea sets the tone for people to actually explore and play the game rather than play a single variation over and over, which will more evenly distribute players across zones, reducing overflow tension on some servers, and also allow players to interact with each other more for completing daily and monthly objectives.

Explore and play the game? I am pretty sure that you can the daily done on most days in WvW, especially now that you get 3 WvW options per day instead of 2.

Heck, I have gotten my daily and monthly in Orr and WvW without touching other zones at all.

Consider dynamic events. In a few zones, more challenging dynamic events including veterans or champions are ignored because they’re not ‘worth’ doing. Add in precursors for laurels along with a dynamic event category for daily achievements and suddenly you have a lot more people running around participating in the 1500+ dynamic events that the team worked hard to create.

Yeah, that would work great, except that Penitent and Shelter also spawn Champions and are much more consistent than hunting for Champions elsewhere. I know that whenever I see “Daily Champion Slayer”, I always go to Orr.

1. Not everyone plays WvW, or PvP at all. The average player will cruise through a zone for 100% completion and miss perhaps 45% of all the dynamic events the area has to offer.

2. Right, not talking about veteran slayer or champion slayer. I’m talking about event-specific achievements. By name. “Stop the Dredge Mining Operation” could be a daily achievement. The player would have to complete that specific event in Lornar’s Pass (a zone not often populated). There could also be a meta-event achievement. The game already rewards players for each event completed in a meta chain. Why can’t the system detect if all events in the chain are completed within that cycle and then grant that daily achievement?

This laurel precursor merchant idea sets the tone for people to actually explore and play the game rather than play a single variation over and over, which will more evenly distribute players across zones, reducing overflow tension on some servers, and also allow players to interact with each other more for completing daily and monthly objectives.

Consider dynamic events. In a few zones, more challenging dynamic events including veterans or champions are ignored because they’re not ‘worth’ doing. Add in precursors for laurels along with a dynamic event category for daily achievements and suddenly you have a lot more people running around participating in the 1500+ dynamic events that the team worked hard to create.

Figured. Intel has a stupid “shared memory” protocol that allocates memory as it’s needed. The chipset can go up to 1.7 GB of VRAM when needed. The game’s still playable but everything looks like clay.

Any clue why I can’t run the game with High texture settings? I have a hunch it’s because of the low dedicated vram due to the integrated chipset and thus is a software-hardware issue beyond my control. But if it’s not that, then what else is it?
