Running away from duels

Turtle.4130

If anyone runs from me in a honor duel (Start with /bow, end with /bow, immediately disengage if the fight is interrupted on either side) I simply /shrug and just leave. For example, I was dueling a warrior in Rekz as a warrior myself, he was at <20% HP and I was at 90%+. In the latter half of the fight all he did was run around with his GS and do nothing but run since he was getting crushed. Garbage roamers and garbage duelists aren’t worth my time, just leave them be and let them contemplate rerolling their profession if they’re exhibiting characteristics such as this.

So, I rolled a warrior...

And then you run with a zerker thief along with a full zerker party and realize warrior is actually mid tier DPS. thief DPS is second only to eles

And then you look at your HP and you are almost dead. Naked warrior still has more survivability than a geared thief in PvE.

And then you realize you should be better at avoiding damage through dodging.

Why I would dodge if I can just use my warrior?

This is a primary example of a terrible player who should be kicked from your party upon sight when undergoing a speedrun. They are nothing but timesinks/boat-anchors for other to carry.

I am curious where you get the statistics to make your assumptions a t s e. Most roamers are engineers? What server is that on? I know on Maguuma, SoR, JQ, TC, and BG, I almost exclusively see thieves, with the rare engineer. I list those servers specifically, simply because one of them is the one I am on, and the others are the ones I have battled against lately.

Any player who wants to win any roaming fight right now should roll Engineer, why?
Condi meta? Check
Good 1v1? Check

Ooh! I love this game!

If Warriors are OP, then why do the losing competitive teams always have them?

Hint: They cheese garbage players at this game.

On topic:
- wvw blobs are 80% war/guard
- top pvp teams only use 1 thief
- most roamers rerolled to engineer ( better 1vXcapability)
- lfg post says heavy only

1. Thieves are strong roamers, nobody talks about their blob power. As long as engies are not involved and both players are maximized in their profession efficiency, thief dominates.

2. Like a roamer, they are strong in small numbers, too much thieves is never good unless you want to cheese bad players. Hint hint, top tier PvP teams won’t do anything but laugh at your garbage Hambow build.

3. Engineer is the hidden most faceroll class in this game, memorize your toolbelt, voila, go 1v4 for fun (Source: I 1v2’d Maguuma Veteran and Bronze Raider on my 5th time roaming, it’s hilarious how easily engineer can outplay with it’s godkitten overloaded skillset). Bad players who get cheesed by stunlock OP 420noscope warriors still believe warrior is the most OP.

4. Heavies don’t die easily in dungeons, nobody cares about thieves regarding dungeons, they’re fine.

Did that 8% reduction to Healing Signet ruin your viability?

Nah, they’re viable and all, I just don’t like crit nerfs, I’ve lost over 40% damage on crits which is absolutely stupid. I don’t care about HS nerfs either, only a complete garbage player would whine about it being bad.

It’s clear this game is moving in the direction of condition damage, and as someone who has been playing Condition damage warrior way before the day of Mace+Shield/GS, it’s frankly boring as hell to play now. There’s no fun in CD warrior, so I’ll move onto something more fun.

Summary of this patch:

- Town clothes turned into outfits (Ruined)
Wanted to mix and match? Forget it!

- Town clothing dyes broken down to nothing (Ruined)
4 dyes? Come on Anet.

- Power builds ruined
A vast amount of power build have died due to relying on crit damage.

- All hail the condition damage glorious master race.
Now all we see is warriors with dual swords+ longbow, no thieves, necromancers, condi bunker mesmers, a handful of guardians, and condition damage bunker rangers (Power rangers are even further down the lines of being walking lootbags due to having far worse crit damage)

- But don’t worry, free dyes and reusable skins.

Come on Anet, I believed you would make a huge update and I even told my friends this would be an amazing mega update. All they did was laugh when they saw that the game was brought down pretty much on its knees.

Solutions
Simply recode the old town clothing as secondary armor pieces right off the bat, that would simply allow you to recolour them and wear them normally, turning them into outfits was an atrocious idea.

Will update this part soon…

Guardian or Warrior?

Posted by: Turtle.4130

Turtle.4130

I’m gonna say it right now. My warrior is my main and I’ve dropped every single profession many months ago because of how much I love my warrior but what some people are saying here is outright stupid.

Warrior has high PvE DPS, but by no means is it the highest. It’s simply the most accessible as all you have to do is press 2.

You have played warrior a lot so im not going to say you’re wrong ok but this is what i do. HB on 3 mobs to get 25 stacks of might. If they are pinned to a wall WW else skip that part. Swap to axe 2,4 gives 8 stack of vulnerability then 5 just for the CC.
Then finish the autoattack chain, and repeat. Warrior is not so simple all you can do it press 2. Axe autoattack is really fast and when buffed i can hit 3-4k with this.
They also stack vulnerability on crits which helps a ton especially on bosses.
Those of you who say guardian do more dps, did you take in account buffs and traits? because on my i see nowhere near as high dps as my warrior.
What buffs i get in a spamfest zerg is irrelevant.

I’m well aware of the fact that 2 and axe are also extremely high source(s) of damage however in terms of GS -which is what I’m talking about- 100B will often be more consistent in damage than WW in PvE simply because it does not require mobs to be anywhere but in range of you (And most monsters won’t dodge) whereas WW is conditional in terms of the mob being placed against a wall.

In terms of WvW almost nobody is stupid enough to go crawling along a wall to take a full WW to the face. Heck, when most people see warrior they’re concerned about being 100B’d, not many people thing “Oh man I hope that warrior doesn’t WW me” simply because the raw damage it does is conditional on where your opponent is. Axe has always been known as a warriors telegraphable- yet high DPS- weapon.

What I’m trying to basically say is, GS is a warriors most popular weapon and it is renown simply because of 2. Hell, there’s been multiple warrior metas which even revolved around setting up 100B’s, the Bulls Charge → Frenzy → 100B meta, the Skullcrack → 100B meta, etc. When a warrior equips a GS, there’s three things:

A) He wants to troll around with GS+ SWH and/ or Wants to have crazy mobility (But no damage without any way to set up his GS damage)

B) He suddenly turned his whole build into revolving around 100B.

There’s no denying it, there’s even been metas around it, that’s how much of a defined skill it is in terms of a warriors DPS.

Is Thief viable in PvE?

in Thief

Posted by: Turtle.4130

Turtle.4130

Thieves are just the embodiment of damage without any defense other than evasive maneuvers , which is why warriors are picked over them and most other classes. Warrior damage can also be high and consistent if you know what to do on a rotation instead of 211111211111211111211112 like a brainless moron. Not to mention warriors can easily obtain and maintain 25 might stacks without needing a banner easily by themselves. In a group, warriors can hit 25 might in the blink of an eye together, take damage, and not have to worry about much resources other than their HP/ cooldowns.

This isn’t even accounting for the fact that thieves do not have that many AoEs in comparison to a warrior GS 1 2 3 and 4 which are all AoE.

Essentially thieves have the damage of warriors on steroids, have none of their defensive attributes, don’t have the same AoE as warriors, and are therefore more single-target oriented where they can deal tremendous damage. The thing is that most dungeons don’t require bursting down a single foe for a vast portion of the dungeon as there are many groups of mobs, which therefore requires AoE. Sure they can do certain bosses really well because of their huge single-target damage and evasive skills but then you realize that bosses are usually 10-20% (50-60% in the case of Arah P4) of the dungeon and the thieves aren’t really that useful for the other 90-80% of the dungeon because they can get popped in the large mobs or simply can’t output enough damage across multiple mobs while providing little utility other than Shadow Refuge (Most parts that Thieves have to Shadow Refuge their group to run through, warrior can just GS Rush → Whirlwind Attack through without worry.)

Southsun Cove is a monument to remind us that farming doesn’t exist in Gw2. We’re unique and we don’t like farming so we decide that we nerf every farming method until you realize that the only way to get what you need is to learn to play the TP. You want 250 T6 mats? Go and kill some high level mobs, after many hours (5ish+) you might be lucky to end up with 7-9 of them.

Thieves and Guardian can for example be traited to do waaaay more damage in a few autoattacks than a warrior can in his full rotation except it takes good practice and knowledge of game mechanics/building. My friends guardian can hit for up to 5k/autoattack, meaning in 4-5 autoattacks he can outdps a warriors whole 100B combo.

And warriors are only faceroll in PvE, which is why you see so many bad ones in WvW because they’re used to just standing there and pressing 2. That is of course unless you meet a Mace/Shield + GS warrior, which is a crutch build for bad players vs other bad players. In fact, I can guarantee that most of the people saying “Warrior is god!” only know how to play Mace/Shield + GS, and they’re utterly terrible if they’re ever put into a situation that nullifies the advantage of that build (They go against a player that’s good).

I’ll give you a link to the build i use, i normally don’t do this but here goes:

Like blinks, stealth, a pet, poison, and protection? Get over yourself. Warriors have had the same mobility from day one and you’re choosing now to whine about it because you’re unhappy that they can’t just be facerolled when they do stick around to fight any longer. Boo hoo. We’re viable now in more ways than just fleeing combat.

Ok well since you wanna put it that way.

Wars have the best single target CC ingame on a shorter cooldown than any cantrip anyone can bring to the table which holds someone down for their insanely high burst (also one of the most hardest hitting burst ingame)

oh but do you have to sacrifice anything to still have all of this happen? No of course not. You can be a very tanky warrior and still do INSANELY high damage with this copy and paste process.

You have arguably the most powerful slot 6 heal ingame (complimented by your heavy armor, blocking capability, high mobility and high single target CC -unless you use a hammer in which case high aoe CC-)

Oh but surely since you have all of this….. your mobility must be low or at least average. oh wait of course not you got the best mobility ingame out of any profession at any given state in all of gw2. An olympic track runner who hits like a train and heals for 393+ hp every second.

Hmm let’s see what areas missing. Good condi removal? Oh wait you got that. Hmm…. Well maybe your health pool is low? Oh not that either… you got the highest healthpool ingame right next to guardian.

BTW you’re talking to a scepter/focus ele, actually i can just say… you’re talking to an ele. Tell me more about how balanced warriors are.

I’m talking to a spoiled child who likes being overpowered.

Yes the Mace is the highest single target cc but it does no damage in and of itself. It is mainly used as a setup tool for anything because you won’t really kill anyone fast by just whacking them with a mace. Here’s another fun fact, the mace is our only mainhand weapon that comes with a hard-cc. Things like hammer come with CC too at the cost of defensive/offensive options like offhand weapons and shields. So in other words, a warrior just use half of his whole kit just to SET UP his damage combo.

I have also done this with a tanky build vs people using tanky setups and it takes a LOT of time to kill them. If someone is specced defensively, then your 100B won’t be hitting like any bomb. Maybe you should not play with a zerker set, or learn to pick your fights if you want to play zerker setup. Some fights are not meant to be won, this is determined by setups, traits, and is amplified furthermore by player skill. If you reply to this giving me some crap like “Oh I play bunker ele though and they still nuke” then I call 100% bullkitten or you’re wearing white armor.

The mobility of this build is destroyed simply with cripple/chill, they’re not blinks or i-frames, they’re abilities with a channel time and can be disrupted in between or pre-emptively. This is a no-brainer and any competent player will be ready to cast his cripple/chill the second there seems to be a possibility that the warrior will turn to run. Hell, I’m a bad ranger and even I have my cripple ready when I get these Spec-Ops Elite Warriors with Mace/Shield + GS to 40% health (Which is when they start considering running away).

Of course warriors will have good condi removal, if they didn’t they’d be kiteable jokes. You’re only saying this because you want Warriors to be the high HP target practise that they used to be before. Why do we have a high HP pool, more than guardian? Because we don’t have extremely high access to defensive buffs like Aegis/Protection/Retaliation which guardians can pull out of their pockets whenever they want. We NEED something to compensate for our lack of defensive steroids. On top of it warriors get exploded with conditions unless they build around condition removal, so much that we actually have to slot one of our utilities (Zerker Stance) so we don’t get kited like jokes or blown up by Necros/Engis with their condition nukes.

Unless, of course, they’re removing themselves for long enough to regenerate HP while you slowly suffer condition damage while awaiting their return. I’ve used this tactic to wear down 2-3 players at a time.

There are so many classes that can put conditions on you way faster and more deadlier than a warrior, and here’s the plot twist…
YOU’LL be the one running away instead.

Also if the Warr is regenerating his HP, you have just as much of an opportunity as he does to heal as well.

from 90% of the roaming and smallscale warriors running skull crack / 100b.. must feel great, especially killing people with 3 buttons! it probably means stepping up their game for people who ran only bullsrush-100b before! but most dont get the build right so they are only half as dangerous, no cavalier gear and sometimes even wrong traits / utilities…. on the other hand meeting the proper build and gear feels like running into a brick wall.. with spikes! that build is completely out of control in WvW… just like the perma stealthing thieves or perplexity engis… crazy stuff, Anet only cares about balance in spvp sadly.

They really only kill bad players. This Mace/Shield + GS cheese whining group is literally like those Bronze players in Starcraft 2 who whine about Zerg being OP because they got 6-pooled. I mean…

You don’t even have to be amazing to beat anyone with this build – You can be AVERAGE – you just have to use your brain (Not even THAT much, this is THE most telegraph-able build in the game atm), and if it still causes you difficulties, you should stay in PvE.

In fact, I think I’ll tell you the secret to beating these sheep warriors.

Well for a start Ele’s aren’t restricted to melee, whereas warriors are (A ranged warrior loses out on a LOT of mobility, even if GS is secondary).
If you remove/nerf their gap closers, they just become walking sacks of HP for all ranged classes to kill.

Heck, I actually fought against a Hammer + Mace/Shield Warr the other day on my ranger and due to him not having any gap closers, downed him before he could really do anything to me.

“We do not permit names that:

Have offensive racial, ethnic, national, or cultural connotations
Include hate speech or bigoted slurs
Reference sexual acts or real life violence
Are pornographic
Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions
Reference illegal drugs or activities
Reference religious or historical figures
Reference real-life people
Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products
Use misspellings or alternative spellings of names that violate any of the above rules"

Today my toon with the name Intense Wargasm was forced to change because it was inappropriate. I made the name Intense Wargasm because I used to be an avid FPS player, and for those that are situationally unaware throwing reports around left and right for no reason, a wargasm is “the climax of gaming excitement, either FPS or RTS, characterised by intensely pleasurable sensations centred in the brain.” and I thought something like that would fit in very well with my warrior.

Can I please get an explanation on why my toons name is being forced to change? Because I see no justification other than an oversensitive 9 year old reporting me because his parents are standing behind him, and let’s get this straight, 9 year old shouldn’t be playing this game due to the age-rating.

I would like to request that ArenaNet revert this change and allow me to take my character name back without any hassle, as I don’t see where it conflicts with your policies.

Thank you.
