Awesome Gaile. Yeah it seems to (as already mentioned) impact Incinerator (flames off after a second), Bolt (no currents on the blade) and several other legendaries as well. Seems obvious the legendary bug is linked with the backpiece bug. There’s also a bug with fractals as people don’t seem to be getting end rewards chests (the bonus one with the pristine relic etc.).

I would’ve absolutely loved to have seen this from the beginning. Legendaries are imo way too common now, and fairly easy to get with grinding/real money. Who needs badges, karma, world completion?
Making them sellable was a mistake to begin with.

If you take a look at a lot of the changes they’re making, and they’ve said so themselves, its the player that created the weapon, not so much the character. Its the player that should reap the rewards. Having a legendary weapon is a sign that says “Hey look, I did this.” (which really boggles my mind when people can straight up BLTC their legendaries) and you should be able to get that feeling regardless of which character you’re playing. Its kind of like a title in that respect.. All the severely time gated mechanisms in this game are becoming Account Bound

I agree. I would’ve liked to see legendaries being account bound from the moment you forge them. Not sellable at all. This will force players to actually ‘do the stuff’.

can i ask why put all you legendaries on here when people look and accounts get hacked for that exact reason? wouldnt it be better to put this on a ticket and send it to support would make a safer option ?

I believe with an insanely long password and double authentification it would be fairly hard to hack my account. I appreciate your concern, but I think I’m alright. I also wanted other peoples opinions on this instead of an automated response.

I love this line: ‘so I made another Sunrise’. As if twas nothing. I think just having the TwilightStorm tag on your character is exclusive enough at this point.

Oh my, apologies. In now way did I mean to insinuate making it was ‘like nothing’. But it felt pretty obsolete to elaborate on the entire process of making Sunrise, since it’s not the subject of this thread. xD Sorry if I made it seem like it was nothing. It was not.

That’s not what I said. If you understand the situation of needing only 1 legendary of a kind for it to be available in the wardrobe, you may get that having 2 of 1 kind (2 incins, 2 sunrises), will for me feel like a huge waste. That was the point.

TwilightStorm you still have six legendaries while I have no legendaries. Amongst my weapons, none of them will even look like legendaries, whereas not only will all of your weapons look like legendaries but many of them will indeed be legendaries. Even the fanciest Wardrobe system can’t close that gap. You totallywtfpawn me at legendaries.

I see what you did there. You clearly don’t see what I did here, or what the thread was about. As you may have noticed we were mainly talking about dual weilding, and rewarding players that have ‘only one of a kind’ to wear more of them, despite owning only one – Which in order makes me have spent 3000g on nothing.

And it’s quite the misconception that I’m ‘worried’, but exaggeration is a common tactic to make a point I guess. : >

I could not possibly agree w/ the original poster more. I’m feeling really duped and ripped off.

Thank you Daddar. My main ‘issue’ here is not so much the dyes. More the duplicate legendaries that I have worked hard for (I have 2 incins, 2 sunrises), which others can now dual weild for free. But even worse than that is the fact I don’t need 2 of each, and feel kind of … bad for basically having spent 3000g on those two for nothing but ‘switchable stats’. I would very much like to see some form of compensation in the form of letting me choose another legendary skin.
Although of course I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting this.

Again, I really like the update, I just have a bad taste in my mouth over this.

Heh, thanks for the colourful feedback everyone. I see lots of different opinions on the matter. Also, Grace, please do not be under the impression that I am ‘complaining’ (although it seems hard to make people not interpret this as such, since I am starting a topic stating some issues of discontent), I merely wanted some feedback on my opinion. I like most of the changes in the patch, but dislike some. True – In a sense I am gaining. What mainly ‘bothers’ me is something Kajin.5301 has brought up. You generally represent my line of thought here. What I would very much like to see, is the possibility to have my 2nd incinerator replaced with another legendary – although this might be a very ambitious wish. For of course – I did not get a legendary for the stats. I could happily make some ascended weapons by rolling out of bed.

I also agree exclusiveness isn’t really possible if you rationally look at it – but I do like the idea of getting credit for something I’ve worked for, and then I notice others with only a single legendary dagger will also get a second one ‘for free’.

On a different note; Yes, Thaddeus, Legendaries have become more common. I would’ve very much liked to see legendaries NOT being sellable on the TP, but just be account bound after forging it. This way people are ‘forced’ to clear the map, get the karma/shards, and the badges (although easy to get nowadays). This would’ve made it at least a tad more exclusive. But alas, we can all guess the reasons anet decided to make them sellable.

Either way thank you guys for your input on the matter.

I dare to say a majority of the community will have invested money that is now redundant due to this update, you are not the only one with double Legendary’s, double skins, double dyes, as a matter of fact most people will. But we’ve been able to enjoy this up until when the update hits and then we and every new player to come will benefit from the new system. I too felt a bit disappointed at first reading about the new system, but I think in the longrun it will be more rewarding for everyone, change is always difficult.

Heh, yes. Perhaps eventually it will be rewarding eventually. I must also admit I’m quite allergic to change. >.> Although it was nice to bring this up and see opinions of others on the subject.

EDIT: On another different note, since I saw someone bring up Eternity; I have an Eternity. However, I also wanted Sunrise for another character, so I made another Sunrise. Basically I ‘own’ Sunrise twice, and if having Eternity on my account would already give me access to Sunrise, I will, again, have made a legendary for nothing. That would make 2 legendaries made for ‘nothing’. I can’t say I’m really pleased with that, since that would mean I’ve spent 3000 raw gold just for ascended stats, since I already had the skins. ^-^

No, the effects are party of the weapon being Legendary. Before they made Legendary weapons on par with Ascended stats and the ability to change them, people used to make a legendary and transmute the skin to a stat set they preferred. In doing so, however, they lost all the visual effects associated with the weapon being “legendary” since it was no longer the original weapon.

Is that really so? Since I remember when I made my first incinerator (a year back) I had it transmuted to a Berserker’s pearl Carver And I’m pertty certain I still had my legendary footsteps ánd effects. Time will tell.

Yes, they do, and correct. Since I like to be as exclusive as possible. It is merely personal.

TwilightStorm, there is one other thing you should be taking into account. While yes, it’s true, after this patch you will have the ability to put your legendary skins on any like weapons… however, those won’t be legendary. The skin is the only thing that applies. You won’t get the ability to change stats on those weapons. You won’t get the particle effects, the footsteps, the weapon skill effects, and so on. Just the skin. Only you’re originally crafted weapons will be truly “legendary” and rightfully so.

If this is true, I am pleased. Thank you.

For your dyes, yes, if you went out of your way to buy all of those Abyss and celestials you wasted your money. But, personally, I would have said you wasted your money doing that even if they didn’t make this change. I mean, come up with a different color scheme already lol, does each character have to do the black and white thing?
On one character sure I could see that, but to go out of your way to get white and black for multiple characters, especially paying those ridiculous TP prices. Meh, sounds like a waste of money in the first place, but to each their own.

Heh, well. I hád used them on several characters. Not anymore, but doesn’t change the fact I bought them.

If you have two incinerators, then you have two daggers with permanent max-level changeable stats. You’ll never need any other daggers on whichever character you have those on.

Yes, this whole thing has pros and cons. It will be awesome that I can use my si- oh wait, five legendary skins (one is useless after all) on all my characters, and it’ll also be awesome to use all the dyes.

And yes Grace, you are absolutely right. In reply your post doesn’t give much to reply to either, since I am aware

My main reason for the dislike (though don’t get me wrong, I do like many things about this patch) is that I do genuinely think legendaries will become quite common (as you said, make a level 2 necro with some incins or w/e, we can have dozens!), a lot less unique, and will therefore make me feel less exclusive. Something I like in mmos. Sure, you may see this as ‘oh god, get over it.’ – it is simply a personal reason that I’m sure some do share.

This topic may have been already been brought up by someone – if so, my apologies.
If what I hear and read is true, then this patch -despite having a lot of good sides to it- might screw me over big time in multiple ways.
So, for the record, when I (for example) make an incinerator, I can access this skin on every character, and equip as many of the skins as I want. (I can have 100 incins in my inventory, correct?)
For me one of the reasons I play this game (and probably for many others) was to feel exclusive. Which I felt, having six legendaries across my characters. I also carry double incinerator. Would this mean I made my 2nd one for absolutely no purpose at all? And the 5x Abyss, 4x celestial, 5x midnight fire, and 2x white I have on all my chars? The T3 I have on multiple characters? Have I bought all of this for nothing?
Excuse me if my post may be seen as whining, and you are probably like ‘first world problems chill out play the game’ – But as I stated, it is merely a personal reason for me to play.
1. This patch will make 3000g I spent go to waste.
2. This patch will make legendaries a lot more common (people can just walk around with different copies when having only 1 or 2, if I’m correct), and ruin that exclusive touch that I and some others had.

Correct me if I’m wrong here though. But please, if you intend to reply just to tell me my reasons for saying this are stupid, don’t bother to reply. ^-^

Dredge Fractal discussion

But Ayrilana, so far I’ve seen you post in every dredge thread here. Are you perhaps an undercover dev? It’s pretty obvious to me, since the vast majority of the players posting here (and some I know to be very experienced fractal runners) acknowledge the ‘problems’ concerning this fractal, that here is something wrong with this fractal. Yet you are one of the few that are defending it – nothing wrong with that. There are possibly lots of ways to do it slightly faster, but that doesn’t take away the fact that if you compare this fractal to the other it’s WAY too long and simply NOT fun.
The average time to finish the first (usually swamp) fractal is 10-15 min, 2nd is mostly 20-25, and third (except dredge, and cliff which will take about 30) is also pretty doable in 20-25. The bosses are 10-15. (these times are based on an experienced group running level 49.)
Now you look me in the eye and tell me, that running a dredge on level 49 which takes AT LEAST 60 minutes is completely within proportion if you look at the rewards.

Ayrilana, since you just stated you haven’t done fractals in a while, I can very much imagine your reply to what I said about the dredge fractal. Note that this fractal has recently undergone several ‘bug fixes’ (to make it even longer, added more dredge, you can no longer die on the button, ‘shortcuts’ fixed etc.), and it may not be as easy as you remember it to be.

You say ‘simply’ have 1 member kite all the dredge around while one activates the console. (I am well aware you can clear one side of the cage) Well, yes, you make it sound very simple, but this one member will very likely not succeed in kiting the remaining 6-10 dredge (and a vet) around. What you said about the bomb run – yes, there are easy ways to do it. This all doesn’t nullify the fact it is wáy longer and harder compared to the other fractals you can get on the 3rd map.

I agree with most of the above.
I run fractals 49 on daily basis, and getting the dredge on this particular level can (even with an experienced group) increase the length of your entire run from around 75-90 mins to a good 150 minutes.
- The cage is too hard without having a fully coordinated group with exactly the right stats and approach. (And even with I’d like to see the devs run this without fail)
- Especially the bomb run is poorly done. (Endless mobs)
- The ‘clown car’ is (however good loot) unnecessarily time consuming.
- The boss however, is fine.
I’d suggest getting rid of the endless mobs, or taking away some parts entirely. It is shocking to me anet is simply fixing exploits, without actually wondering WHY players have the need to exploit. Difficulty/length wise this fractal is in no league with the others you can possibly get in the 3rd level. (Aetherblade, Volcanic, Thaumanova Reactor, or evenCliffside) This makes the time spent/reward (which is already poor! Running 49 should absolutely be worth more than a 1g 40s reward) completely out of proportion. Oh, and in my 400 runs so far I’ve had ONE fractal weapon. ONE.

Another fact I find shocking is that this whole dungeon thread isn’t really getting ANY love from the devs. I know the devs are reading this, and am very much wondering why this ‘problem’ is not being acknowledged.

I just want permanent access, or, you can just tell me what exactly is fraudulent about my recent purchases? I only used my PayPal, which has the exact same address and e-mail as my GW2 account. Then why would you block me back out?

I have taken every measure to not ‘appear’ fraudulent to your Risk-management system, but at the moment it is blocking out honest customers that want to give you money, like I do.

To make a long story short, I hereby request that you lift me restriction permanently, unless there seems to be any suspicious activity. If you don’t, I want to know (it is my right as a customer since I’m being accused of something) what exactly I did wrong to get flagged.

In regards to your inquiry, there is no permanently exemption or “fix” to prevent your purchases from being reviewed. The system will review each new authorization when it occurs for high risk characteristics. As long as there are high risk characteristics associated with your purchase attempts, those attempts will require manual review. This is the case as NCsoft is held just as responsible, if not more responsible than our players, for the security of credit card information and protection against fraudulent transactions. As fraud trends and characteristics change, so do our methods to prevent them.

While I can’t say that you won’t experience this issue again in the future, I can tell you that we will work hard to assist you with completing your purchase attempts.

Additionally, we cannot go into more detail as that would reveal confidential practices we use to detect and prevent high risk and fraudulent transactions. Making such information public would only make it more easy for those who intend to commit credit card fraud to do so. I’m sorry that we’re not able to provide this information that you inquired about.

At this time, I have taken the same steps for you as Steve took on September 14, 2012. You should be able to complete your intended purchase anytime in the next 24 hours.

Well, I really just want to fix this problem, and buy gems (only through paypal, I will never use a credit card) without having to ask you for the 24 hour permit all the time. It’s a lot of effort for me, and for you as well.

Fact is just; I don’t use a credit card, I use paypal. That’s why I don’t understand why that would be a high risk to your system. Every detail of the account matches with my GW2 account.

Thank you for permitting me again for the next 24 hours, but you may also understand this is not a holding solution that is satisfying to me. Will you be offering any other ways of payment in the future? Because when my 24 hour release expires, my payment will just be blocked again. (Using paypal)

This morning I woke up to find that I was suddenly credited with 4000 gems. I have no clue whatsoever where those gems came from. In the past I have tried to buy gems 289374 times with credit card, but it kept saying approval failed.

It seems highly unlikely one of those came through, right? Is there any way to check where those gems came from? How they got ordered? I don’t have money missing from my paypal either.

I have once used a credit card that was not mine (a friend) to buy the game. After this, my account got flagged. Don’t you think it’s a little too quick to flag customers like this? I don’t want to go through this entire back and forth conversation everytime I buy gems, it’s also a lot more effort on your team.

I have once used a credit card that was not mine (a friend) to buy the game. After this, my account got flagged. Don’t you think it’s a little too quick to flag customers like this? I don’t want to go through this entire back and forth conversation everytime I buy gems, it’s also a lot more effort on your team.

Also, if I was really a fraud, why would you give me 24 hours to continue my ‘fraudilant’ actions? (Obviously I’m not a fraud, btw)

Please, I beg you to fix this system. Just now I have been able to make a succesfull paypal purchase, I would like to be permanently able to do this. It is my account, and I will only use paypal. Please. -.-

What is this stuff about NCsoft master accounts anyway? If there would be a way to login to those, I could maybe fix things. I tried fiddling around with making my own NCsoft master account, but it’s not like I can link my existing game key to that account. i have no idea how this works, I just want to buy gems. Still getting the same, tiring, errors.

My ticket is also almost 2 weeks old, and so far they’ve only asked me question, on which I had already provided the answer. -.-

Like, I gave them my credit card an paypal details, and got this reply “We are unable to see any transaction attemps for credit card ending at xxxx, do you have another card or paypal account we could check?”

I just gave them the details! I wonder if they read the tickets at all.

Yes. After the thread about hacked accounts this one has the most views and replies. Imagine how much money they’d make if all of us could actually buy gems! :p

But really, I think we can all agree this is very unstatisfying cutomer service. The should fix this ASAP, because everytime I see the screen “There was an error finalizing your purchase” I get a little more annoyed.

It would at least be nice if someone would POST AN UPDATE ON THIS MATTER.

Sorry, posted in general first before seeing this. I have no incident number as I wasn’t issued one.

Tried a dozen times with two different amex cards to buy gems. I know both cards work as I have used both within the last day. Repeatedly tells me Card approval failed.
I am trying to buy gems through commerce screen (shortcut ‘o’) in-game. Is there somewhere else I can try or is this a known bug?

Superior Rune of the Necromancer

Don’t know if there’s a thread on this already, if so – I apologise.

I have a problem with the Superior rune of the necromancer. Somehow it seems bugged. When I equip one, all slots in the rune (6 of them) are already blue, and it says I have 7/6 of these abilities activated. When I equip another one of these runes, it will say I have 8/6! However, I’m not getting any of the benefits that the rune should give. For example, if I equip a second rune it should give me +15 vitality. It doesn’t, which I can see by unequiping the items with the runes.

I’ll add a screen with one of the runes equipped.

This is not a problem that should be addressed individually, it is a general flaw in their system. It should not be attempted to fix with 24-hour ban lifts, there is this ONE BIG problem that’s causing all this that needs to be fixed. Jeez, I’ve just tried with every computer, every card, every paypal account in my near surroundings. I even tried all the different amounts (10, 20, 35, 50).

NOTHING WORKS. It’s really getting on my nerves because this is such a big factor of the game for me. I’m willing to spend a lot of money on things that I LIKE. But that liking is coming to an end if I can’t even give you my money.

I guess I’ll try everything I read here. Added my GW2 E-mail to my paypal, trying different computers (Some with different IP’s) through my house.

But WHY. WHY do I have to make so much effort to pay THEM. They should make the effort to get me paying, not the other way around.
