I used my lvl 80 boost and now I need to get hero points – what are the quickest zones to get them? I’ve been doing them in Maguuma forest, but that takes too long because there are multiple levels, you have to wander around tunnels and trees to find them.

Which zones are more straight forward, and you don’t have to look for them in multiple levels on the map?

But this problem only happened with Guild Wars 2, not other games.

I’ve tried Dota 2, Eve Online, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, and Counter-Strike. And they all ran with no issues.

I have 2 computers – a Desktop and a Laptop. Both are very fast and have plenty of resources to run Guild Wars 2.

However, after updating to the newest version of Windows 10, both computers started having the same issue. The Issue was resolved after I rolled back to a previous version of Windows 10.

So here is the problem I got after updating to the latest version of Windows 10:
- Loading for Guild Wars 2 became very slow. It increased Guild Wars loading time by about 10x
- After I log in and click on “Play”, the game would get stuck at a black loading screen for a long, long time.
- Whenever there is loading involved, the game would get stuck at a black loading screen for a long time. This happens whenever I enter a new instance (entering pvp match, exiting pvp match, entering a new map).
- I can no longer Minimize / Maximize the game with ease. Minimizing the game would cause my computer to freeze, and I would have to force restart the computer.

I did resolve this issue by rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10.

2 Items that would be nice to see at least one time in the Black Lions Shop:

1st – A stone to make an Account Bound/Soulbound Weapon back to it’s initial state (to be able and sell Legendaries / Ascended after you used it and just don’t want anymore)

2nd – A special bag, with lets say 10-20 slots max, that would be shared across all chars. So no matter which char you playing, you can check those 10-20 slots. (it saves some time from having to add and xfer stuff to bank over and over.. )

It really depends on what tier you are in. i find that the higher the tier there are more heavies and they are more organized than what was shown in the vid. it was a really good vid, really well play but high tiers are 90% guild groups hammer train so you may need more mobility/stealth than what spca proposed

and you might consider more dps in the OP proposed team set up
my rule is 1 pure support per party

and AikijinX, i used 10/30/30 w/ mug vs the engi, the reason i used steal after backstab is because it adds dmg and it heals me. Also please explain how i can stealth -> steal (doing dmg) and when i do dmg i stay in stealth and then -> backstab? not possible.

TL DR; because Mug trait.

How about doing black powder, hs, steal, bs? oh wait wut?

overall wasnt great play from you, there were some criticism above that you consider when you play your thief next time

I get those too in EoTM and it is only possible to whisper them without joining their group or doing anything complicated there. I used to presume that they blocked me so i cant respond but maybe you have to right click them back to whisper back to them

Im having issues with the new potions with my character. I cant even see the horn and i doubt i would see the halo with my current hair style.

I do not want to change my hair to accommodate a potion. if you can simply make the horns a lot bigger or make them hover higher that would be great ty

Blink and shadow steps on the edge of bridges is incredibly frustrating and simply doesnt work. Anet do you have plans on looking at this issues or am i simply going to have to avoid all combat in those areas in the future.

A few Eotm Balance Suggestions

Overall EoTM is pretty fun.

However there are a few items/features that i believe to be a bit too powerful and need to be re-balanced.

The Turrets: Hitting for about 5k each and with knock down, it is a pain in the kitten to run around in those area. Yes we can destroy them easily but they can just as easily repair them for little supply. They also do not require anyone to man them making them very powerful.

Airstrike: love using them but for those on the receiving end it might be a nightmare. Hitting from upwards of 2.5k aoe, a well coordinated group that synchronize the bomb would wipe group twice their size effortlessly.

Kodan Hammer: the #3 skill freezes for 3s on a 7s cd. do i need to say more?

like i stated earlier overall, its been an enjoyable experience. a bit zergy but new features are usually like that.

Nope, but unlike warriors, thieves have permanent stealth, permanent evasions, and perma vigor dodges. Which counts as effective hit points. But of course that flew over your head being an advanced skill level and all.

I believe there is a easier way to solve this problem. keep pistol 5 as a smoke field but change the order of priority of hit than stealth. So the chain would look like this: Black Powder – HS – Stealth – Hit.

It would be similar to how cluster bomb would reveal you if you blast a smoke field and hit a foe standing in it. This would allow thieves to stealth, get away regen or w/e but it would allow the opponent to counter the stealth by standing in the field.

I think this would allow for more interesting play from both side

Maguuma never sits in keeps/towers instead of open-field fighting.

^ this. You forgot to mention they NEVER run away when outnumbered either. They’re like 300 against Persia, or SEAL team 6, or the career tributes—-EVERY last one of their players.

To be fair, nobody earns Maguuma’s respect, whether you’re talking about the overall server forces, guilds, or roamers. I think that can vanish as a topic, entirely.

on the one hand, im happy the mods arent deleting these posts and infracting/banning gidorah for it, because a post like his got me a 2 week ban, deletion, and a 1 hour posting limit.

on the other hand, im sad that this is what youre taking time to respond to instead of about what ideas you (dis)like, have(nt) thought of, or if youve played games with useful raid UIs and have some inspiration from them, etc.

if it makes you feel better in the last cdi i had 4 posts infracted and deleted just for asking where the wvw dev’s where. and i completely agree he should be responding to the suggestions of players not constantly telling people not to expect them to actually work on anything in this thread it leaves a bad impression.

Dealing with new idea on the priority list

We keep discussing time frame and how to pick new topics, but what if a new top arises? How are we going to implement that into the list? The list is already “premade” from the community listing what they want to discuss. but there will always be new updates and new features that will be added and maybe the community feel this should be a subject they would like to go in depth with the devs. Are we simply going to list it at the back of the line? let it jump to the front of the line? how are we going to decide how far should we allow it to hop?

My solution is to simply bring the topic up during the 3 day recap etc and let the dev decide where it should be listed. If there is overwhelming concern and it is an urgent topic of discussion, make it rank2 topic but anything else rank it 3rd, 4th, etc as you see fit.

If it is a big and new topic, people will make irrational post and will be less constructive. if you give it time for them to really think it through and sit on it, i think we can get more done within the small time frame of 1 week.

Also for some, maybe the next topic is of particular interest to someone and have a lot to give, but it gets pushed back at the last minute. It wouldnt be fair to them if it happened.

5 topics is an arbitrary number that i felt to be a reasonable amount. 3 is too little information of what the upcoming topics will be and 10 is too much and there is a possibility of if and when will we be able to reach topic #10

I’m going to pop in a sec here to throw back to a week prior to the season … Mags pushed to get into gold. That was a hard push too btw, much like TC trying now.

That was not only admirable, that was an impressive week. If anything, coming to gold league has benefited mags with there new friends/new guilds that have decided to join forces during the season. Even if it’s not much… it still has benefited them. As it has with SoS.

So whether the season is a tank/crapshot who cares… in the end I think your servers respectively gained from it.

In fact, I’d go as far as to say SoS and Mag’s are lining themselves up for the new map. That is all.

How does the Mag peeps feel about all the FA talking about how they tanked scores to get into Silver? I’m probably reading to far into it but it sounds like if FA didn’t tank the scores Mag would still be in silver.

The fact that FA tanked their scores is moot, outside of showing what type of gamers they are. Mag fought hard to get to gold league and that really shows what type of players they are. Server strength is based on population and Mag overcame that shortcoming by playing hard.

I have also noticed that pyro as well as a few other guilds are doing what they can to show that they can play the t1 meta with heavy frontline(real heavy) and some solid backliners supplemented by kitten glass. Thanks for coming out and fighting hard.

Aon is a troll guild but I like that they kite away the pugs not on ts. I have heard a bunch of drivers say “oh, its AoN, they wont fight, they just run and pick off the pugs” I like this little service you do us :P

well to be fair, you have about 30 guys running the hammer train vs 8-10. so the point of sayng we wont fight is kinda … come at us with 10 and see if we fight or not

so basically you want T1 BG to zerg who runs team/guild builds per player and minumum of 30 to fight a 10 guys whos built for 1v1s, youll find some who will endulge in that kind of game but not all.

Im in no way asking them to break up to fight us but if what you are stating is that all we do is run away from fights and troll, look at it from another view.
also beside apex everyone else is running 20+ in BG so we have to resort to such methods if we are looking for challenging fights.

side note we dont run 1v1 builds we do have a group comp. its not all hammer either.

i understand where you are coming from but like the skill lag topic issue, there isnt much to discuss on that subject. and i dont think the wvw team is even responsible for this. its the optimization team etc. so having it up for a discussion would be imo a waste of time.
if they listed the topics for the next 5 cdi and we can give our 2cents on if they are worth discussing could save us from those situations

As long as this isnt one big “placebo” to calm the masses (which at this point I would be ‘ruining’ it by saying it is a placebo) then Im ok with these threads.

I would like to see a little more of “Well, we are discussing these things: x. but these are completely out of question so please dont even consider it”. I liked how in the balance threa for Dec 10 we SAW the changes, we saw stuff being changed because we asked for it and we had good basis for this. But so far with these threads, all I see is a giant black hole, and no ‘light’ coming out of the white[red] hole.

you bring up a good point I feel that when they release the balancing patch, trying to work out something for all 8 professions in a small time frame might be too much similar to how having 3 CDI going at once might take it toll.

I main a thief and at first i really hated most changes. I still dislike them and i feel some of the nerfs were uncalled for but i believe i can work around them. the community also brought alot of charts and calculation to the table yet one of the main response we received is “You are getting a buff” while all the numbers said otherwise.

(off topic: a good thief is capable of managing their initiative and rarely runs out. so increasing its regen is pointless)

How are you going to pick topics? As you probably know, i posted something concerning the next WvW topic: skill lag. which in my opinion isnt a very good topic because it stems from overpopulated servers (and we already “discussed” that) or server issues on anet side that we have no control or very little knowledge of. Is it possible to add a second thread during the 3 day CDI process evolution to “vote” on potential topic?

I just think its odd that you are the only busy person at anet. While you where doing a terrible job here there was a active and productive discussion going on in pve and pvp and in each and every class forum. Unless you are saying that everyone else in the company has tons of free time and you alone don’t you probably owe us a better explanation.

Hey i think he gets it from you mentioned it on multiple threads multiple time and it is becoming redundant. i do hope he improves the amount of interaction he has with the community and be more open about some of the upcoming features for wvw. If his hands are tied because of company policies, maybe revisit them and see if they are all currently viable.
If he lack resource and he is overloaded with work, ask for more resource to lighten the load so he can focus on different aspect of his work.

As much as i would like to put all the blame on one person, maybe there are other factors we just dont know about.

(not saying he is not at fault just back off him a bit)

It is true that the purpose of this thread is to discuss the process moving forward, not to discuss topics or solutions to issues with WvW currently. In looking through this thread and thinking back to the previous thread, it’s pretty clear that the main sticking point with this initiative is interaction or perceived lack thereof from the development team. I think part of that comes down to some of the things you have all mentioned, specifically:

Being more clear about what can and can’t be discussed.
Providing a more focused topic that can be discussed more fully.
More clearly listing out the constraints of the discussion.

Those are things we can do a lot about in the next iteration of the CDI. I’m also curious what your thoughts are on some of the things raised in the PvE thread. Like, do you think it would be more fruitful to discuss a topic that we decide on, or to discuss one that you are all interested in? To be clear, this initiative is about discussion and not necessarily about action. When we find ideas that fit within our scope and the core philosophies of the game we do take them further, but that isn’t the goal of the whole thing, nor should it be the expectation that we will take action on any and all ideas.

As for posting frequency, it is always the case that our first responsibility is to the game and the continued production of the features and content. It can pose a barrier to frequent posting and it is especially true at a time like now, which combines holidays with pretty extensive work to make sure our current work on the Edge of the Mists is proceeding as planned. I can’t promise to be in here every day, but I can promise to remain engaged in the thread as much as can reasonably be expected on top of my other duties running the WvW team.

I hope that you will all continue to engage in this initiative in the spirit it is intended and continue to foster a good discussion about the fundamentals of WvW design.

First of all, can you define to us what is Anet core philosophies regarding WvW

What is the depth range and resource allocated to the WvW team. It is no secret that compared to all other aspect of the game, the WvW team is one of the smallest one out there. I, personally, would love to know how big the team is so i when i make suggestions regarding WvW, i know if it is feasible or not.

Secondly, as I stated, WvW team is small, if you are overloaded and you probably are, maybe it is time to ask for more resource?

Finally, is it possible to view the Edge of the Mists forum section? there have been very little communication or discussions regarding this and i asked a few tested what they think about it, but i would love to know what sort of actions the devs are taking in response to the positive and negative feedback.
For a non NDA initiative having a secret section is not a good start. Im not asking so that the non tested go in and post a bunch but for them/us to have a better understanding where it is going and what is happening. And if we have ideas we would like to share, pass it through one of the tested

PS: One topic i would like to see is are there any plans for balancing WvW separately from tPvP. Balancing issues in one mode is totally different from balancing the other mode currently creating a very boring meta

FYI if we go with the next topics from the initial call for topics threads (Global) then they are as follows:

PVE: Ascended Gear
PvP: Rewards and Progression
WvW: Skill Lag

These are all pretty focused topics which means we will be able to enter into the discussions more readily in terms of time. The bigger the topic the more divergent the discussions and this makes it harder for us to give them our full attention.

I believe there is little players can talk about regarding skill lag. havent the dev told us that skill lag is a server issue and unless there are players that have knowledge in server optimization, we cant help you.
another subject that is related to skill lag but one that the community can give you their thoughts is giant blob fighting another giant blob causing skill lag and how to reward smart play instead of rewarding the server with the most people.

PS: Chris if you take part in the WvW thread, i have hope for it to actually achieve something.
