Yeah. Completely unable to target ‘The Blight’. It just states out of range.
My biggest problem with weapon evades is, not all classes have them.
Its like saying ; All classes can spam 2 dodges as standard. Except for Thief and Mesmer, they get 4.
Such a large mechanic needs to be standard.
Another month. More disappointment.
Anet are in to their incremental balance tweaks.
In game lifesteal is useless in bust meta.
Lets see some incremental buffs to lifesteal until it gains a minimum viability atleast.
This would ofc have to be separated from pve scalings.
This would atleast be a start of something.
Isn’t the end game of PVP when you see people on the other team quit the tournament as soon as they see your name?
Notoriety is end game pvp.
Lets also be honest and say that if GW2 ever went Esport (erm…. hypothetical statement), then any tournament rules would ban Azura.
They are crap to watch from a spectator point of view, since its hard to depict what they are actually doing. This is the point of esport after all.
I think if we even start to see more and more organised GW2 tournaments, then the tournament rules will enforce this. Lets face it , it takes 2 minutes to reroll a reasonable sized character.
This thread requires more attention !
When I played a power necro (without staff), I used to hate fighting thieves. Wells have such long cooldowns, if they were on cooldown I would generally loose.
With a staff though 2spam thieves aren’t an issue at all. If I press 5-4-3-2 with my staff equipped and terror traited, they are dead.
I think the power of thieves are so much more dependant on who they are fighting than any other class.
I think the ‘real’ problem with warriors is that every other class can kite them easily. Warriors are playable until they get condition bursted, with cc and snares.
I’m sure if warriors we’re more able to survive with natural tankiness or easily available snare immunity, then they could be traited and geared aggressively and their damage would be great.
Most games is 30mins iirc
Maybe J kitten o OP he only needs to run Signet War.
Would explain the lack of Warr buffs
Lets be fair to the OP. If you play hotjoin, thieves are a massive issue. 3 thieves jump on you and your dead. Its rubbish.
As soon as you join Tpvp, this issue disappears.
I know there are class balance issues but in general…
This entire thread seems to be more about ability to orb run than anything else, which is because with a 1map rotation, people gain the ability to spec out of pvp and into running.
Everyone who did Spvp moved into Tpvp.
Its accessible and queues pop very quickly these days. I can Tpvp at 2am and have 30sec-2min queues popping.
You sir, deserve a cookie!
Post haste nerf, I find that low skill thieves (my skill bracket ), are just food anyway. They don’t need more of a nerf.
If they wanted to increase the skill required to play a thief, then ground targeted HS sounds good, or even just facing requirement.

For people who missed it.
Yeah the ‘next’ button doesn’t work for EU ratings.
This took over a week?
You have no Mesmer either.
I think the thing about Tier lists are ; top group is what a premade requires to be competitive. mid tier is what classes are viable. bottom tier is the kitten tier.
Its not so much about the balance of the classes as their ability to play domination games.
The biggest difference I notice from October is.
Tpvp is now accessible to more. Hotjoin is for duelling only.
I was doing tpvp last night with a 30second queue at 2am, as a solo.
Play Pvp for the fun of it. Try to improve. Try to learn about strategy, tactics and counters.
Then as a bonus to this, you get a free laurel.
And a game based on watching enemy player animations and almost everyone running smallest sized asura to counter it.
I cant pvp without roll anymore.
:(
Player’s skill to interrupt is almost irrelevant when just about everyone in pvp use smallest asura model.
If you start channeling an ability before someone gains stealth, then the ability continues to hit after they gain stealth.
Why should this be different for stomps?
I just think that if people need to do that to make them feel good about their lives. Let them enjoy it.
If you don’t like, turn off chat in pvp, in hotjoin, no one is going to say anything positive or constructive.
My biggest gripe with DS is, its a ‘class defining ability’, that’s massively spec dependent. I originally ran power builds and I used to think, ’ I don’t get all this moaning about DS its awesome to soak damage and deal ranged damage. The I tried running a hybrid build, or Condition build , my access to LF generation is terrible in a 1v1 fight. Its almost impossible to use it for soaking any damage, as I need what little LF I can generate to cast doom.
This is why it doesn’t function properly as a replacement for access to stability and vigor. Its like when people say ‘necro don’t need decent uptime to protection, they have DS’ . DS can only be used as a replacement for Protection, if you spec deeply into it.
If boon hate doesn’t strip boons. Then a +% damage increase for the amount of boons the target has, wouldn’t even counter out Protection. In that sense, a boon strip ability would be vastly superior.
Amazing !
Also the mock tv advert rocked!
The issue is ; You need a #2 ability to break a stomp (yes our single target is kinda sucky, but still). This is why you cant move fetid to #2. You also cant make #3 instantly available on down, this is evident when you look at some of the #3 abilities some other classes get.
For these reasons I really don’t think its viable to have the #3 ability off cooldown on the activation of the downstate.
+1 to op.
Guys read the player names!
Rata Sum seems to be the most populated area now.
Think that says it all
The melee disadvantage is also further reduced by the game modes.
Your forced to try and stand in a small circle, when trying to defend. I’m not saying this gets rid of the range>melee advantage, but it does help reduce it.
There is another thread in this forum suggesting the idea of 8 team tournaments running for a few hours on a weekend.
I think this is a great idea.
I think it should have win chests, which have items, which can only be obtained from 8team tournament wins. These should have pretty stuffs inside.
Gives atleast a little bit of prestige to tournament winners and competitive teams.
Good luck with the recruitment!
The thing that made me hate quickness the most, wasn’t its effect on combat. It was the quickness res/stomp.
If we are forced to have the res/stomp mechanic in game, it seems pointless to have to fight up against quickness with it.
In terms of combat, if I got hit by q+100b and didn’t break the stun in time, it means I was either watching tv, the warrior is better than me, or the warrior tried twice as hard to kill me, as I did to live. In any of those cases, the warrior deserved the kill.
Quickness on thief and ranger was very strong in terms of combat though. Its a shame warriors suffered so heavily from a nerf that more than likely wasn’t aimed at them.
I don’t play warrior, but, I am hoping this is the first step to buffing their mobility , survibability and damage. I think the issue was, how could you buff warriors mobility and survivability, that didn’t make the 100b to strong? Now they have nothing, it should be far easier to buff a multitude of things, to create at least a few viable tpvp builds. They don’t have to be made top tier, but a buff to middle tier with a few viable builds, would be an awesome next patch. It would also show a that Anet is firmly moving in a direction, reguardless of how slow they are moving with it.

This is why I love gaming meta.
2 weeks ago. The forums are full of thieves posting crap about its all l2p and thieves aren’t op.
Now its, every other class posting to tell thieves that they are actually going to have to learn to play now.
The fun of mmo’s
I don’t care what it is , add me a 5th skill !!!
Necros just need a 2h melee weapon and it will fix it.
With cleave and a gap closer!
Now we’re dreaming !
If your a Mesmer, the first player who spots you, is going to mark you. This is even in hotjoin, since its helpful for the player who marked you. The fact that its helpful for the other people on the team or that it just gets you focused on, is merely a by product of that.
People in hotjoin see the mark and nuke you. This is all. It stands out because ordinarily, no coordination occurs.
I think if you are going to argue that Necro is underpowered, you dont focus on our Condition Spec’s. We arent an overpowered class when built for conditions, but we are perfectly viable and we have unique skills.
If your going to argue that Necro is underpowered, make a decent arguement. Use our pure power builds.
Dagger with no gap close.
Dagger with no burst.
Compared to our condition/hybrid specs, which we have lots and lots of viable specs and lots and lots of gear setups.
So yeah, we arent under powered, we arent overpowered in general. Necro are middle tier.
Someone has to be right?
Kit stacking would be far more viable if the gadgets actually gave us something great.
Unless you spec static discharge, the gadgets are very underwealming and on very long cooldowns.
I run well of corruption and corrupt boon on my necromancer.
The issue’s i find with it are, corrupt boon has a long cooldown and misses alot. Additionally certain boon bunker classes easily clense conditions and reapply their boons almost instantly.
I do find that a necro with corrupt boon works alot nicer against ele than guardians though.
What davenchi is trying to say is most hot join players aren’t as good as him. So his opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to balance. For example, a lot of hot join players complain about thieves because a lot of hot join players don’t understand how to deal with thieves. They then continue to complain in map chat and make forum posts about how thieves need to be nerfed.
However, since davenchi is way better than everyone else, whatever he loses to in tournaments is clearly overpowered. For example, he runs into a trap ranger and dies in 30 seconds because davenchi doesn’t understand how to deal with trap rangers. He then continues to complain in map chat and make forum posts about how rangers need to be nerfed.
lol, anyone see any similarities???
Aren’t you one of those players that quit because you got counter comped by Hiba’s condi-nade engi, and then proceeded to try and copy that same build (while calling it OP) and fail?
PZ has consistently run cheesy comps and has only ever been successful running cheesy comps, and I am not the only person who knows this. I’m not the one who gets wiped by Vyndetta in under 30 seconds, that’s you Folly.
PZ was running double elementalist, double ranger, and while it is disputed how strong trap rangers are, it goes without saying that during the time they were running the comp, elementalists were EXTREMELY overpowered (especially pre-Mist on Down nerf). Everyone wanted PZ off the map because they were cheesing up the meta and making the game unenjoyable for 80% of players. In regards to the other comments, as Defektive said, my first post was not well put, but the point I am trying to get at is this:
If you do not have enough experience/knowledge about the intricacies of each class and how they are played both individually and in a team setting, then your opinion may not be as valued as someone who does have this experience/knowledge.
Mesmers and thieves can excel in hotjoins, because the calibre of play there is lower than it is in tPvP. Mesmers and thieves are 2 of the most under-valued classes in tPvP, because players know better how to deal with them. They are 2 classes that, at first, seem to be extremely OP, but, when understood, become exceedingly easy to counter.
I hope this clears things up.Davenchi, best at making things up NA.
He clearly sounds but hurt.
Folly what have you guys been doing to him?
Does that mean I have no right to an opinion?
Depends if you’re bad / your opinions are bad.
The arrogance of this person is getting beyond funny.
The game style he plays is the only one that matters.
Only those who share an opinion the same as his, have valid opinions.
I do wonder how these people survive in the real world?
Search for Nemesis’ Hybrid build.
Great community contributor.
I think the reason that Necro has so many builds that people are willing to run is. We dont have 1 built that completely outshines all the others, to a massive massive degree.
Most (if not all) other classes have 1 spec that is just miles better than all the others. This is why there are lots of diverse specs used by the Necromancer Community. It isnt due to awsome balance, its due to not excelling at anything.
My example would be ; If you compare an ele to a necro, there are lots of specs out there for elementalists, where they could achieve similar results to a necro of similar spec. The reason they dont is , they have 1 awsome spec.
