So much has changed since the game released. We need damage buffs and faster spells.
A few common misconceptions.
Ele has the best CC in the game. No… they do not. We have a lot of slowing and cripple
Ele has the best mobility in the game. No… they do not.
Ele is a “Jack of all trades”. No… they are not.
Eles have a lot of skills. No… they do not. Many classes have other skills at the top of their skill bar, while Eles have attunement switching instead. Then other classes have many skills that double up skills all in one button.

JQ has currently seen some shifting. These past few weeks have been the most notable. Skilled players make things happen. Weak players depend on their numbers and then claim great things. On JQ you can easily find players of ONLY 10 standing up to 2 servers at the same time, each with a zerg of 30 or more. FUN times. If you’ve got the skills then come join us. New players are welcomed too. Ninety percent of JQ players are most usually helpful. We often find ourselves playing against ANET employees. Which is way more fun then tagging along.
We have dedicated players that keep the game moving forward. As well as a great PVE and PVP community. Don’t be trolled by the forum warriors, we need the numbers at certain time slots because the enemy greatly outnumbers us. They also seem to be focused on us. So expect a challenge.
I hope to see new guilds and new players join us soon. No matter how you want to play the game, we manage to get along well, and organize together.
There’s no reason to nix our bunker build. Has anyone seen what happens when a Guardian, or any other class goes for protection builds? They are near impossible to take down…. even when an Ele traits pure damage. AND, that Ele has two other players whacking away at the “bunker” target.
This change makes Wv3 less entertaining or strategic. Though I did hate swirling winds duty.
I agree with this, although I do see it from both sides. On one side, it allowed actual players to have a way to influence battle and mount a defense with their skills. When the opponent already has more #‘s in WvW and are trebbing you from the top of SM, Swirling Winds was all you could do to survive. As you have no way to reach their trebs due to superior height (aside from building one in the middle of the field and pray their superior #’s dont notice while you get 2-3 hits in), this was your only option (of course ignoring taking SM, b/c that is nigh impossible w/o extraordinary #’s). Without at least a way to counter a treb with class skills, you have no way to even slow down the enemy.
On the other side, it was kind of annoying when someone was blocking your treb with just 1 skill. However, if you had enough supply to build 1 treb offensively, you probably had enough of an advantage to just build 2,3, or 4 and cal it a ballgame.
If they really wanted to stop perfect SW defense with 3-4 eles, they should have allowed trebs to have a penetrating shot (unblockable) that takes 2x to fire, or does half the damage. Then class skills still delay, but cannot completely neutralize the effects. As it is now, I haven’t switched to my focus since the nerf.
Edit: fixed run-on sentence for clarity.
Usually if I took on swirling winds to block treb shots, it forced the enemy to come in close contact and engage a battle. Or, they repositioned the treb. I don’t know why they changed it.

I did a little wv3 got amazingly annoyed about how slowly I covered the map.
Got even more frustrated that roaming got me killed repeatedly as I was slower than everyone chasing me now and then logged off.
I agree completely.
Since ANET has pushed these changes through, here is what is happening.
Thief closes in with their version of Ride The Lightening. It goes like this.
Heart seeker – Heart seeker – Heart seeker – Heart seeker. = 1,800 range.
That doesn’t even include their other gap closers that thieves have.
I play a thief and an Elementalist. All day yesterday, I seen nothing but thieves heart seeking Eles in Wv3…to others and myself. So I decided to hop onto myThief, and I joined in. Eles need their old RTL back. It’s way too easy to catch an Ele now.
Should all other classes have their RTL equivalents nerfd the same way? What was wrong with RTL to begin with?

If you want to WvW, simply guest a different server and then go to wvw the same way you do it from an overflow. Apparently JQ is full atm, no one can really log in so guesting becomes the only option to play.
I just did that, and it works. Better then nothing. I feel bad for the PVE players though.
Well. If JQ is overcrowded, then guesting to our server needs to end; or have some sort of limit on it. By the way… I wonder if this could be used much like throwing around useless siege all over Wv3 to force a max limit? I bet it could. They might not be in Wv3, but guesting does prevent server players from entering. Just saying. Maybe I’m rambling? I haven’t guested another server yet. I’ve been on JQ since day 1.
Same here. JQ server.
This spell needs to hit instantly. Its’ current mechanics are not reliable by a long shot.
Eles need a DPS increase. Fixing this spell mechanic would be a step in the right direction.
Ele skills need to do more damage then they currently do.
I
Optimize the physics. While you’re at it, optimize the environment controls. I would like to keep what I have while having less grass swaying in the northwestern parts of Wv3. Then call it a day.
No nerfs. Buff direct damage for certain Staff and Scepter skills.

Look at the GW2 system requirements. Your (Phenom) 64×3 processor is better then an (Athlon) 64×2. But your performance might be bad since it’s only ~2.1GHz. Google around to see where your CPU stands compared to current ones.
If you’re on a budget, I suppose you could try to upgrade the power supply and graphics card, instead of buying a complete new PC.
Things to take into consideration.
1) Operating System. -ok
2) Processor. -ok
3) Available memory. -ok. But it looks like you can add more if you want. You don’t need to though.
4) Power Supply 250 W -not ok. You will need to replace this in order to install a new graphics card. Google the reasons why.
5) PCI Express® 2.0 x16 graphics card support -keep this in mind while buying a graphics card. Some will tell you that 3.0 cards are ok in 2.0 slots… but I disagree. Especially since your CPU and RAM is not up to date. So stick with PCI E 2.0 x16.
PS: If you did buy a new graphics card and a power supply… those could be considered short term investments.
A nice power supply could be swapped into a future PC. And most retail PCs usually always need a better power supply unit. The same with the graphics card.

Jade Quarry.
Same problem begun only today.
Disconnects every 5 or 10 minutes.
Server lag. Skill delay.
PS:
1) The rendering since the patch has gotten worse. Before the patch, things were mostly ok.
My opinion:
Elementalist are not the kings of versatility. They can not weapon swap during combat. A weapon set LOCKS them into a non-versatile play style. Anything an ele can do, all other classes can do, while weapon swapping during combat. What this means, is that all classes except the ele can be strong range and melee at the same time. The only thing an ele offers bit more over the other classes is AOE damage skills, and the ability to buff other classes. The other classes can do it too, just not as much.
For example: Thieves can mass heal their team while stealthing them. Eles can mass heal their team while removing conditions.
Staff needs a buff. Scepter needs a buff. D/D is mostly ok; but it is mainly LOCKED into melee playing.
The traits of other classes are self explanatory, and the outcome is expected. In comparison and opposed to other classes, Eles seem to heavily rely on gear sets, complex self buffing, and locked in play styles. I think ANET has allowed an ill-informed player base from previous MMOs to come in and dictate changes. They have mistaken the desire to make their product accessible, with something else. L2P can be fun. But this situation reminds me of another class, in another game. The realization… it’s not a L2P issue, it’s something else. It is clear ANET needs to make ELES more accessible to the ELE players. This is supposed to be a game with NO ROLE / Trinity. Every class has range and melee. Every class has CC and heals. Every class is supposed to be able to take care of themselves. Everything else is support from each other, when needed in large battles.

Im starting to believe many here do think mesmer can just drop a portal and people appear!…
Laying portals are easy. Lay down the start portal, run to your location, then lay down the end portal… and everyone that clicks on the start portal, goes through. It will even glow to let everyone know it’s linked and ready. There’s nothing hard about doing this. It’s even easier when you use stealth. I have a Mesmer.
Porting a large amount of players into a new location instantly during a large scale battle is causing lag, slowing computer performance ,and adds to the culling issues.
As long as the Mesmer portals stay as are, ANET will never be able to fix these problems for everyone. This is an online game where many people are playing from all over the world, all with different computer hardware etc..
It also breaks combat enjoyment. Wv3 has turned into PORTAL BOMBING saves the day. It always happens in T1. Usually the victory is caused by forcing lag / depending. You guys know it’s true. It’s just like trying to force all three servers into the center castle. LAG and performance drops considerably, no matter what kind of hardware / network you have. I praise ANET for attempting it at the levels they have tried. But I would ditch it in a heartbeat.
Just my opinion… and feedback.
I wrote a long detailed list for fixes… and this was one of the situations on my list. But at the last minute, I decided not to post it.
It’s true that the projectiles are way to slow, and do not do enough damage. They can be easily missed by the enemy player moving around and strafing with q and e. Not to mention the damage reductions, self healing and blocks that other classes can do. Anet needs to buff STAFF fire # 1 and Earth #1, or speed up their projectiles… perhaps both. Meteor is not an AOE. Meteor is a random hit placed into an area. So that too needs a buff, or some sort of status condition if they’re too scared to buff its damage.
At any rate. ANET knows which character I play the most. I do play 5 different classes. It’s a shame that I can do more burst damage (@ range) on my low level Thief in Wv3, then I can with my level 80 Elementalist with decent gear. I’m not bad at my Ele. It just takes a lot longer to build up damage against other players.
Scepter / Dagger and Staff needs buffs ASAP.
I can’t imagine what my thief will be like at level 80 with full gear. But that’s what I would rather play at this point.

Buff Eles ANET. They need some love.
PS: I thought this debate was explained and over with. It’s the same topic, by the same person. There are much bigger issues then this.
I play an ELE / MESMER / RANGER / THEIF / NECRO. I may get around to testing the other classes.
This is a L2P issue. I disagree with the OP. But I would gladly trade this skill for something much more useful in PVP.
Some sort of player / guild housing would be great. ANET already has a micro transaction center, for which this would fit perfectly. Create a portal near LA banks.
- Playstation Home. People like to collect and hang out while doing random things.
PS: Finish a dungeon, receive a home trophy item, etc. You know it would work.

Here’s what I’ve seen happen many times with a Zerg VS Zerg. A large battle is taking place. One Mesmer stealths into the center of the opposing Zerg, opens a portal, and then 30 players jump out from behind, or the middle of the unsuspecting crowd.
The tactic is interesting. Though I’m unsure it’s a fair thing to do in an online game where not everyone has the same connection speeds and performance. If AOE wasn’t nerfd to hit only 5 players at once, then maybe I wouldn’t mind. Players could look for the portal and drop an AOE. But since AOE is 5 capped, so should a Mesmers portal be 5 players / uses at a time capped… then it disappears. Fx5=disappear. Leave everything else the same.
Un`nerf AOE, then maybe it will be ok. But then we are still faced with an online game, that attempts to multi- render large groups of players to a new position very quickly. Capping the portal, may help save ANET some server performance issues. It could also ease troubles with “lag” and performance for all players.
If a Mesmer can port five players on a 60 second cool down, this still allows for great tactics. It also grants a little time for a fair counter strike. It would simply mean the Mesemer and players must be a little more strategic, instead of instant ZERG. I also suggest that portals can not be overlapped onto each other, from multiple Mesmers.
See? No major sweeps or nerfs. Just minor adjustments.
Capture points based on the population / players @ the control point, would most definitely NOT work. It would bleed over into other issues. Especially when a server is outmanned. I do not support it. It would break W/PVP.
My opinion? Just make it so a stealth player can not capture or prevent a capture while in stealth; and adjust stealth abilities to server capabilities. No NERFS. Just fix and or adjust.
If you reduced the control point areas, that too would be abused by stacking. Currently, the large areas offers strategy and fun. It gives players and large groups enough breathing space to move about.
GW2 is a great game… it only needs minor adjustments etc..
I’m having performance issues here as well. A few days ago I experienced my first episode of skills locking up and delaying. I was forced to log out. I’ve had other problems as well.
I want to enjoy this game… but between performance issues, and cheating from your own team wrecking havoc for the opposing side, it’s become more then it’s worth.
I definitely need to take a break from the game. I hope things get resolved. It’s a great game otherwise.
The control point areas around supply camps are HUGE. Letting one player contest it by stopping the count, while in stealth, is a broken game play mechanic.
1) Charge $25.00 for each transfer.
2) After a server transfer, you can not enter World PVP for 2 weeks.
3) You cannot transfer servers again until after a month.
4) If they don’t like it, then tough luck. Read instructions better. It’s been over two months, and people have had plenty of time to choose a server freely.
I’m losing intrest in W/PVP. I’m not the only one.
Ending free server transfers would fix this almost instantly
1) Charge $25.00 for each transfer.
2) After a server transfer, you can not enter World PVP for 2 weeks.
3) You cannot transfer servers again until after a month.
4) If they don’t like it, then tough luck. Read instructions better. It’s been over two months, and people have had plenty of time to choose a server freely.
With no easy way to transfer servers… bad players will be forced to deal with their consequences on a social and game play level. It will still exist, but not as much. And at least ANET will get some money out of it.
ANET can easily make it so you can not place siege items on treasure chests; or clickable player objectives. So it needs to be done. I once seen a team of players place multiple siege on top of a treasure chest, thinking they were protecting it. The problem was, no one could even click or interact with the treasure chest because it would interact with the multiple empty siege instead. I finally had to tell them to hold down the (ALT) key to highlight all the items, then carefully cycle through the items till the chest was selected. It was a touch of frustration that shouldn’t exist.
People need to realize, there is no such thing as pure night capping. You’re playing on a server that anyone from all around the world could be playing on. Your perception of ‘night time”, IS their daytime. To others… you are the night cappers. Understand?
Since this is an online computer game… and not all internet connections or computers perform the same; I can not claim that rendering issues still do or do not exist.
BUT
Have you ever noticed how some guilds have a thief throw down an area effect stealth, then the guild stacks into the area effect? I have. If you pay attention, you can still see the little black markings indicating the stealth. Stealth can be broken with area attacks. Since I became aware of this, I now look for it, and break it every time I see it happening.
For those looking into this, make sure to read up on how to change a heat sink before you do it. It’s easy enough to do. But just as easy to mess up. For example. You want to make sure no natural oils from your hands are left on the heat sink or the CPU housing. You ALWAYS want to clean off the old thermal paste and reapply new thermal paste EVERYTIME you take off the heat sink. This matters on a micro level. Not doing this can make your CPU run hotter. It’s best to leave the heat sink alone until you’re ready to change it out with a new heat sink. If you took your old heat sink off, then simply put it back on, you need to fix the thermal paste if you haven’t done so.
Use dry cotton or Q-Tips. Very little Isotearyl Alcohol by lightly brushing the alcohol on the Q-Tip first. You don’t want to splash alcohol all over the place. The heat sink bottom and the CPU housing needs to be clean and sterile.
Check if the new heat sink has pre-applied thermal paste. You may need to apply it yourself. It’s easy to see the thermal paste. If you must apply it yourself, make sure to use the right amounts and follow instructions.
Know your socket type. Read everything you can, and don’t downplay the small details.
I’ve seen some videos on You Tube that makes me cringe at the thought that others are listening to the same advice.
vista x86 … because that really matters!
In actuality it does matter. I knew it was Vista before you said it. I only wanted the confirmation. CMD > ADMIN > IPCONFIG. Do not post what it shows on any forums! After doing the “ipconfig” command, do you notice a listing of networks and gateways? Do you notice an IPv6 address?
Read all you can about Internet Protocol V6 when combined with VISTA and previous network settings. Vista adds an extra layer to the problem, when it auto detected IPv6 under certain circumstances. NOTE: Vista is perfectly fine. W7 is Vista lite. Vista overwhelms some people. That’s why 7 was made. “User friendly”.
NOTE: Regardless of which operating system someone may use, everyone should read all they can about IPv6.
1) Write down your modem model number. Is it IPv6 capable?
2) Write down your router model number. Is it IPv6 capable?
3) You may need to uninstall and reinstall router software and settings.
4) You may need to reset your modem. There’s usually a small pin hole on the modem, with a reset button within it. The modem has to be completely plugged in for it to update. It might be wise to leave it disconnected from the PC until after it’s updated.
5) You might need to reset your windows network connections. Then create a new network connection.
Internet protocol v6 is entirely an ISP controlled switch. It is being turned on in different areas at different stages. It will be turned on for everyone. For example. Until September of 2012, I only had IPv4.
I’m not saying that ANET can’t make things better on their end for what ever reasons. Because they can. Yet problem solving this situation increased my performance and stability. It’s not perfect… but it is better.
As for the ISPs, many of them turn on IPv6, and your modem and router might not be able to handle it. It is also possible that you’re using an end of life device. Which basically means you need a new modem or router.
I hope this helps someone.
Which operating system are you using?
Jade Quarry. Lag. Rubber-banding. Random.
Yep. I would be extremely careful in advising others on over clocks, bios updates, and mother board updates. If you attempt any of these things, your best bet is to look up your hardware vendors web sites. Then read everything you can.

@ Muslumgurseks
I’ve read about driver sweeper and driver fusion apps, with mixed results. Have you used them recently? I was hoping I could Add / Remove the NVIDIA driver set, then use NVIDIAs’ install app > Custom > all options > "Clean Install’. Perhaps
I’m also very curious about the games installation process. I’m now researching if perhaps something went wrong in that area.
@ Gosu
Why so grouchy? It’s too early. I used my ellipses the correct way; though the forums wouldn’t allow me to edit the other mistakes that I instantly noticed. I’m just thankful I could even sign into the forums… instead of the usual errors.
I can’t say I blame ArenNet for all the internet woes lately. It appears as if many ISPs are updating their systems in certain areas; for IPv6.
By the way… good morning!
PS: Those are ellipses, not semicolons.

I am not happy….I’ll try to be as direct as I can be; and keep things short.
*I do not have any other problems with my PC; that I am aware of. I can play online MMOs like Rift, perfectly fine. All of my problems are only apparent with Guild Wars 2.
When I try to play Guild Wars 2, my characters move erratically sluggish; with a normal walk speed that switches to a sluggish jerking. It’s very bad, to the point of unplayable. Which is sad, because for my first week of game play, I had extremely minor issues, and was enjoying myself.
I’ve tested this problem in multiple areas. It exists everywhere… when once, it hadn’t before.
My info:
GW2 disk set.
Vista64
NVIDIA GTX260 special edition /by Asus. Updated drivers from 296.10 to 306.23
Core I7
9gig ddr3
As I’ve said before, the game played VERY well for the first week… so I’m trying to problem solve what has changed. One possibility that I am leaning towards, are the NVIDIA updated drivers. After reading the PDF for the 306.23 drivers, and my experience… I’m thinking even though I have the right download, and card… I should not have updated the drivers, because I have VISTA.
( Just a fair warning to readers… make sure to read those driver PDFs before telling someone to do it. What works for you, might not work for them, even though you both have the same exact graphics card.)
I have never done a rollback on NVIDIA drivers… my frustration is already high, and I can’t seem to find detailed / updated info on how to do it. To make matters worse, NVIDIAS forums have been down for over three months..
I would appreciate tips and info on how to rollback my NVIDIA drivers. Only from those that know about all the changes, and have successfully and recently done so. Apparently, through the NVIDIA PDFs, the older ways of doing it, no longer applies. They say to delete the display driver, and then reinstall. But what about the PhysX and 3D drivers? Do I delete those too? Or will deleting the display driver also remove the other ones? Or, is that even outdated?
I’m just trying to save myself any new headaches before diving in… thanks in advance to anyone who might reply.
NOTE: Is there some other possible fix I may not be aware of?
I’ve tried uninstalling GW2 through Add/ Remove programs… then reinstall. Since I have a 64 bit system, should I have installed the games into a different directory? I let the game decide where to install.
ALSO, I noticed my documents folder has a GW2 LOCAL DAT file in it.
I thought I read someplace, about moving thisfile in with the game @ the games location? I can’t remember, so I’ve left everything where its at.
