They told us we’d be able to complete Dailies by doing only a few of them, not having to do all 5.
They lied, and you have to do all 5.
They didn’t lie. They said very clearly that the option to do 4 of 6 would come in a later patch, once they’ve nailed down the daily tasks to get us out into the world.
Why the HELL would they delay that until a later patch?
yeah…not a fan of UI that you can’t turn off…I’ve been annoyed with the Personal Story UI persistence since day one.
Then be prepared to be annoyed by it for eternity, because now it’ll be there even if you finish the story.
Who is in charge of this stuff?
They told us we’d be able to complete Dailies by doing only a few of them, not having to do all 5.
They lied, and you have to do all 5.
I was going to do the new interesting dailies but they’re not really new, and they’re not interesting, and one you can’t do solo (or with strangers- you have to be in a party) and apparently can’t do at all as nobody in the game understands how to do it.
You cannot solo the kill combo daily which is kitten me off pretty hardcore. You can’t even do it with strangers, you HAVE to add people to a party to do it.
They made these achievements sound like a reason to come back to the game, but…yeah. No. This is really stupid.
Do I have this right? You’ve decided to clutter the screen with yet another UI element that we can’t modify in any way?
And as an added bonus, there’s a story quest tracker that appears EVEN IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE STORY. I personally completed the story specifically to get rid of the story quest in the corner, and now it’s back, in an even worse and more useless format. Despite completing the story.
This is a basic design failure, totally unacceptable. Nobody looked at this and thought “Perhaps this should be something people can turn off”? Not one person brought up that idea?
How long have you guys had to prepare for this patch? You know how many people own the game. You know how big the patch is. You know tons of people are going to be downloading at once.
And we’re getting 1kb/s download speeds.
This is unbelievable. I don’t understand how these things happen.
Players getting special unique items at complete random?
Yeah, that’s anet.
I think it’s a small group of people who play any given game for the sheer “playing” of it. A rhythm game? Sure. A platformer? Sure.
But a game like this? I don’t think anyone wakes up, has breakfast, and then goes “You know what sounds like fun? Using 1-5 weapon skills and 1-5 utility skills on various enemies.”
They do it to earn things, to feel a sense of progression, to get stuff, to make things. I doubt very much that many people play simply for the combat. This is an MMORPG, it is an RPG, and it is a game about progression.
The progression after level 80 is just mind-numbingly poor. It takes ages to get anything done, and you can play for 4 hours straight and not get anything good. There’s no incentive whatsoever to do hard content, and so instead people spend hours and hours doing the same things over and over again (Farming).
That’s not fun. But running around completing the map and doing hearts to unlock heart vendors and earn cash would be tons of fun if only you actually got rewarded for doing it, instead of the game rewarding 24/7 farming and only 24/7 farming.
Right now, for wintersday, running around finding presents is awesome! Getting tons of them is amazing, getting a guaranteed one for each group of enemies you kill from a big present box is great fun.
Opening them and getting one ugly sweater each and nothing else is not.
I feel like I’m playing friggin’ maple story.

At scale 1, they’re all soloable, or should be.
Are you serious? Any event with a champion, for one. Go kill the champion cave troll in Queensdale by yourself, tell me how easy it is. It takes at least 5 people, and even if they’re all level 80 there’s still no guarantee they’ll get him without dying.
At level 80, at least.
I have played twice during Wintersday.
The game is more difficult than pulling a slot machine lever, and with even less payout.
The best christmas present would be ArenaNet announcing that they’re going back to what they said this game would be, or at the very least, making it so that hard enemies drop nice rewards instead of exotics dropping more commonly (yet still rarely as technologically possible) from skritt. Right now, it is more profitable to fight enemies over and over for an hour than to gather a group of friends and take down a champion.
I miss being level 1-20, where drops didn’t matter so much. Would it really destroy the game if earning things wasn’t so difficult or demanding on luck? Would it really kill every drive everyone has to play if we all found an exotic every 10 hours of casual (read: non-farming) gameplay or so, instead of every 100? Would it really destroy the game economy if a legendary took 100 hours of playing (without distinct farming sessions) to craft, instead of 400 hours of pure farming?
The only way to really “earn” anything is by farming. It’s the fastest and most efficient way to do anything because drop rates for EVERYTHING are so low! That’s the exact opposite of what the game was supposed to be, isn’t it?
I want to play, but not like this. I don’t want to have to dedicate hours and hours to mindless farming to even have a CHANCE of getting the coolest stuff.
So what you’re asking is for us to go back in time to a month before this issue started, and start keeping tabs on thing no person should ever be expected to keep track of when playing a game, so that we can come here and show you data that your team already has access to because you track it yourselves?
Drop rates are screwed up. Drop systems are broken as hell to begin with. A skritt can give me an exotic while a champion will drop two whites. This is broken. Fix it. Do not act like it’s not broken and say “Prove it, losers!” as if that’s solving a problem.
The small, medium, large, giant, and personalized gift boxes all have an equal chance of dropping the endless tonic and the unbreakable bell. In fact, all of the boxes (excluding MTX) drop very similar things at very similar rates. The only reason there are different ones is largely related to crafting, so that lower level players can find and craft level-appropriate stuff from recipes and components.
I love how you address this but don’t at all have a word to say on how each holiday event so far has relied on people getting cool stuff via opening 50 billion random boxes with the lowest drop rates imaginable.
HINT: I never said a single tax-removal would cause things to inflate wildly.
Why am I arguing for an additional fee?
Cause while you don’t want to pay one fee, I don’t want gold-prices to be inflating, that could eventually cause a single unidentified dye to cost 25silver.
You really think that gold prices for every single item in the game will inflate wildly if we let people go to lions arch free?
HINT: Half the population of the game gets there free right now, and no such horrible death-inflation sent down from the six has happened yet. Know why? Because throwing 2s at lions arch once every day isn’t enough to modify the economy in any way whatsoever.
You’d think with thousands of people asking you to do this, you’d have done it already.
You’d think with every single player who knows how to traveling there free via two loading screens, you’d have done it already.
Why are you not doing this?
How hard could it possibly be to make a waypoint free?
No, they don’t give an exact time because they learned from the last few events.
They didn’t learn how to release on time like they should have, but they learned to be as vague as possible so people can’t get “legitimately” angry at them for being late, because you can’t be late when you don’t tell anybody when you’re showing up!
You should NEVER, ever, EVER open a chest, black lion, physical in-game, consortium, or otherwise, and get light/medium armor if you’re a guardian. You should NEVER open a chest and get a rifle if you’re a warrior. You should NEVER pay real money for a chest, only to open it and get armor you cannot use. You should NEVER open an event chest and get a precursor you can’t use.
Chests need to be set up so that they only give you items you can use.
If a jumping puzzle requires 20 people to jump in the same spot at the same time, scrap it.
Start over and design it so that this is not a necessity.
One of the biggest complaitns you got with the halloween event was that the clocktower was too hard, because nobody could see themselves to know where they were or where they were going to be…and then in The Lost Shores, you include a jumping puzzle that requires a bunch of people to start in the same place, at the same time, at the same pace? :\
We can’t see ourselves, again. We can’t see where we’re going to land…again. Stop please.
(edited by Moderator)
The event only started 2 hours ago.
You have not been doing it for 4 hours.
The one thing that I have noticed from todays event is that the priority of the culling is not correct. Especially with mobs like the Veteran Kraka that steam roll us for massive amounts of damage. The culling really needs to prioritize mobs at a much higher distance and needs to load them immediately.
I don’t need to see the 50,000 people around me unless they’re dead and need help. I do need to see the enemy killing us, though!
And we love Guild Wars 2.
But these events seem like you plan them on paper and don’t actually think about the consequences of actually executing them.
And when you hype stuff up for weeks and it’s all over the gaming internet and we’re inviting friends to play for the weekend and experience the epicness, and we get met with really obvious FPS issues and lag and culling and broken events and vague event chains…it’s really, really disappointing.
Surely you get that, though.
But hopefully you don’t misunderstand that the rage directed at this ridiculousness is only directed at this ridiculousness and isn’t a sign that you’re doing everything wrong.
Just some things. :P
Invisible effects = huge crowds of people dying from huge piles of acid that nobody can see.
:\
There are enemies WELL outside the range of culling launching 20+ puddles of acid, and NOBODY can see it coming until it actually happens. Even the red circles indicating where stuff is going to happen dont immediately show up!

Supposedly Anet has only two people working on fixing bugs.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/General-Patch-Discussion-merged/page/3
Two people.
Not really an “Oh, well, we should be more patient” situation, more of a “Why the HELL do they only have TWO PEOPLE?” situation.
The original title of this thread was “The new map seems…underwhelming”.
My thoughts are not that “I find it small”. My thoughts are that it is wholly underwhelming and devoid of purpose.
I expected a map with…substance.
This is more like a pretty place to look at with three enemy types and nothing else. Not even any vistas or skill points or hearts! It’s literally just….a map.
When you guys said “Medium size map”, I wish I had opened the map and looked at all the different map sizes, because I definitely didn’t expect it to be as small as Lion’s Arch.
It’s gorgeous, and I love the rock pools, and the whole “actually founding the map as you travel along it” thing with the trees knocking down and buildings popping up was really cool.
But…it’s so tiny. :\ Tiny tiny teeny tiny mini-map.
But the lag? Yeah. It makes it impossible to appreciate or even see. Instead we see the karka get 100% health back and everyone has no idea what happened.
:\
It says Phase 1 is “open after Phase 2 starts”. But then it says while open, you still hve to have done half of it before tomorrow.
Phase 1 isn’t “open” if part of it ends.
_We’re going to leave the Phase 1 dynamic events (investigation of the Karka attacks) open even after Phase 2 starts (Saturday November 17 at 12pm Pacific Time)
To complete Phase 1, you have to complete the dynamic event chain leading to Noll before Saturday November 17 at 12pm Pacific Time_
Woo, conflicting information!
“I have an idea. We’ll make this character say something when talked to.”
“Yes, go on.”
“…No matter who talks to him.”
“GENIUS”
“And EVERYONE can hear it! It doesn’t only play when YOU talk to him!”
“AMAZING IMPLEMENT IT NOW”
one person gets blown off a ladder and ends up un-rezable. So you need everyone else to die and incur repair costs.
IF that guy fell off a ladder, so can everyone else. Armor is not damaged by falling.
You’re doing everything right, and you know it, because if you weren’t you wouldn’t be looking for canache at all.
The problem is that every single thing is broken.
NPCs in a sequence thta just plain do not work, and for some reason, only refuse to work on random servers or random overflows of random servers.
This marks the second event where progress is halted by damaged NPCs, and the second event where a one-time dealy caused huge problems for everybody who tried to participate.
I seriously hope by Wintersday you figure these things out. Or you will literally ruin christmas.
:(
The dungeon is really amazing.
The bosses are unique and interesting, the dungeon “traveling” parts are great. It feels like I’m playing a console adventure RPG type game, and THAT is what a dungeon should feel like.
My party can’t find each other. We’re on different overflows (obviously). Why is the dungeons et up like this? You KNEW there’d be a hundred overflows active at this time. Come on.

This is not an exaggeration.
This is a live reading of what Blingg is saying.
Did Anet really think that putting 50 billion players all within 40 feet of each other would work out well?
Ancient Karka part of the event is entirely broken, as well. It shows up, there’s a cutscene (…for most people. I didn’t get one.), and then it disappears without anybody fighting it.
So much for epic one time event. You advertised this event to hell and back all over major gaming sites and this is what it was? Lag and more lag, then broken Event One finale?
And don’t put the entire population of a server in one small area of a map.
Why aren’t they on the forums, telling us about this? Why should it be on the hands of the people watching the stream to deliver that information secondhand?
In a response to “You’re losing trust with players due to the silent treatment about PVP”, you give the silent treatment to someone asking you about the patch, which you yourself just brought up.
You have to realize how unfortunate and silly that is, right?

“Todays Patch”.
Picture included in case they decide to delete this post too. :P
Then is a Anet guy in the mists atm with the Anet sign by his name, say’s it was delayed but don’t worry it’s coming.
Can we get a screenshot of this? Or perhaps for him to long onto the forums and actually give people this information up front instead of giving it to a small group of random people on a single server?
I don’t understand ArenaNet sometimes. The communication is amazing in some ways, but in other ways it’s just absolutely awful. And it’s always with releases of things! The trading post, halloween events, Lost Shores, patches, changes to things people have been asking about, they’re awful at communicating about this stuff!
CC Ivonne
Community CoordinatorHello everybody,
thanks for replying to the OP, Knightlord.
This thread can now be locked.
I still have the page open in my browser… Sounds like the Mod was confirming that it was correct and then locked the post. Rather than just deleting stuff and pretending that it never happened, just correct your self if it is a mistake people appreciate it allot more.
Take a picture, please. We’d appreciate it.
Maybe the mod didn’t read the question/answer too carefully.
Maybe the mod closed it in a “thanks for answering, but we really don’t encourage discussion of patch time” way.
Maybe the mod shouldn’t go around answering questions in vague ways that can’t possibly mean anything other than “Yes, that is correct”.
This tread asked when the update was coming. Someone said “Noon PST, this has already been answered”. A mod said “Thanks for the answer” and closed the thread.
There’s no way to read that other than “The patch is set for noon PST, as confirmed by somebody who should know what they’re talking about”. If he meant it in a different way he should’ve said so. He did not. There’s really no excuse for it.
This single thread has been linked and cited all over the place, because it was confirmation. Now they backtracked on it and deleted the only supposed confirmation there was, and it’s confusing people even further.
The mods should be reading more carefully or wording themselves more carefully if they don’t actually know this information.
Even Moreso, ArenaNet should stop leaving people in the dark on this stuff. They have to know when they’re doing these things, why won’t they just TELL US?
(edited by WeLoveKanjimari.6725)
The moderator never confirmed anything. “Thank you for answering the questions” is not the same as “yes, that is the correct answer”
You know very well that is absolutely ridiculous.
The moderator said “Thanks for answering for me” and then closed the thread. He wouldn’t have done that if he wasn’t saying the answer was correct. Otherwise every question ever asked would be closed after one post!
The post with the moderator response confirming noon PST has been deleted! The thread had previously been locked by a moderator with a moderator response at the end, confirming the first response.
And now, that mod post is nowhere to be found, and the thread is unlocked.
That’s not what “transparent” means, Anet. Come on. :\
Wait a minute. Was this post unlocked?
This post was previously locked, for 6 hours or so, with a moderator response confirming the first response. And now it’s unlocked with the confirmation removed?
Nice one, guys.
