Bank tabs are enough as they are. Some players really need to think on space management, and stop futile hoarding.
There are enough bank tabs for you based on your preferences and playing habits. But there are some who desire more storage. Why is it so hard for some people to understand that?
If a player hoards items they find value in keeping and it makes them happy to play that way, then it isn’t futile. It’s futile to you. You are not that person. It shouldn’t matter to you one way or another what another person saves and what they get rid of.
I think there are more than enough bank tabs. Those who wish for more should learn to throw garbage items instead of amass them.
Your choice of what to save and not save is not everyone’s choice. What you might consider “garbage” items, someone else might find value in keeping.
More bank tabs are fine. There is no compelling reason for someone to be against it, makes absolutely no sense.
That’s a great sentiment and all, but doesn’t refute his point. The fact is, people who ran out of space just have trouble managing their inventory space. Adding more bank tabs will put that problem off for a few more weeks/months/years maybe, but eventually these same people will fill up those new tabs again, and request even more. And it comes down to not being able to manage inventory well.
Adding more bank tabs will not solve that problem, it just won’t. Eventually you’ll want even more, because you’ll fill up the new ones
Im sure hoarding is a valid point but other than that, what objections do you have to people giving money to ANet for more inventory space? What gameplay problems are caused by people having more bank tabs?
I’m not against more bank tabs, but adding more bank tabs won’t solve the problem, because the problem is poor inventory management. So its just putting the problem off. And I am against people just using bandaids instead of fixing actual problems in general. Which is exactly what this is. People don’t want to learn how to manage their inventories, so they just cry for more space. Except that won’t fix the problem, because they will eventually fill up that extra space with their poor inventory management.
I don’t really want to get into a huge argument, because it already happened a while ago when someone asked for more bag slots/bigger bags. It fundamentally does nothing to address the problem of poor inventory management, all it will do is make posts like this disappear for a while longer, but it solves nothing.
You don’t know what players are holding onto. Just because you don’t value keeping certain things, doesn’t mean other players don’t value keeping them.
Your assumption that needing more bank tabs is solely due to hoarding issues is absurd. It is all a matter of where a person draws the line on what they like to keep. One could argue that we don’t need any bank storage at all simply because they, personally, do not have a need for it. They could then accuse other players of hoarding if they made requests for bank storage.
Why more than a couple bag slots? Everyone can just vendor/TP way more often without the need for more bags. If you need more, you’re hoarding.
Why have crafting material storage upgrades? 250 should be enough for anyone. If you need more, you’re hoarding.
It’s all relative. There is no definitive right or wrong. Your diagnosis that everyone who wants more bank tabs, when you don’t want them, is a hoarder is ridiculous. Of course there are some people who have hoarding issues and there are plenty who don’t. I am sure if we knew all of your habits in the game there is plenty that could be picked apart by those who don’t play the game the same as you.
I don’t think most of you even looked at it. They can’t even see their own character. Where’s the appeal in that?
If you can’t even hold a proper conversation with me about this, don’t bother replying. “Don’t look” isn’t a response.
“Their own character” is appearing to them the way they want it to, not the way you want it to.
The “Don’t look” responses are a valid reply in this conversation. I am all for an option to toggle it as mentioned by Lahmia below. However, asking for Anet to limit players to one or two effects simply because you don’t like the way they look is absurd.

Map design and variety alongside map storytelling (as opposed to the actually instanced stories) has been a real strength of the design teams.
I second this statement, the bold part in particular.
The problem with PoF, from what people got to explore during the recent demo weekend, is the lack of waypoints — there are too few, and that will cause a variety of problems, regardless of the speedy mounts.
The only “problem” having few waypoints will cause is for people who don’t like it to complain on the forums.
2) In market filter, allow filtering out dyes that we already own.
I would like to see this, too. I would also take it one step further to filter out all wardrobe unlocks when searching the TP.
For a comparison, when a Necro goes into shroud, they have to hit the shroud keybind again to get out of it. Weapon swap does not change the Necro back. This is the same basic approach. I think it’s fine as it is.
I don’t think you can compare this two mechanics. On an engineer, the weapon swap button had always been the button you use to go back to your weapons after using a kit. Since necros CAN weapon swap, ofc it would have been a bad idea to implement that on this class. But on an engineer, it make sense.
I understand what you’re saying but the forge is not a kit, so I don’t think you can compare the two mechanics.
Also did no one saw the irony of having masteries that let you cross those maps easier – like using shortcuts? It looked like the designers understood the annoyance of having to deal with those maps and added tools to skip them…
I think you are looking at this backwards. I sincerely doubt they designed the maps and then added masteries because of the way the maps turned out. They most likely had the ideas for the masteries first and designed them side-by-side with the maps so the maps utilized those masteries.
Icy Dragon Sword. now that we’ll have weaver and elemental sword, it would be nice to have opposite to fiery dragon sword. It would be super cool to add that to the following wintersday event too
OK, so we all know GW2 isn’t built with the trinity in mind and that all characters have to be able to deal damage, support and heal, etc.
But my question is, and especially considering the upcoming expansion and elite specs, what exactly is the point of having 9 professions with 2 elite specs each if they all do the same thing?
…
Games with the trinity in their design usually have more than 3 classes, so what’s the point in that? The answer is the same as the answer to your overall question: the nuances, flavor and style of each class/build.
For a comparison, when a Necro goes into shroud, they have to hit the shroud keybind again to get out of it. Weapon swap does not change the Necro back. This is the same basic approach. I think it’s fine as it is.
Some actual new armor sets for a change, instead of all these outfits.
An economical decision. If think about the time it takes making a real armor set versus designing an outfit, outfit wins. And on top of that, if that armor set can be obtained in game, those work hours are concidered lost if you compare it to selling in for gems.
I agree with the economical time use portion of this.
However, the gems portion has no real bearing. Anet has always allowed gems to be purchasable with gold. I can simply play the game and change my gold in for gem store items. Naturally, if it’s earnable in game, they will make no money from it and many players will still buy gems with real world money to get skins they want. However, the choice is in the player’s hands. So Anet can still make money from player’s who choose to buy gems with money but leave a perfectly viable avenue for players who want to get it by using in game gold., i.e. indirectly earning it via gameplay.
1. An upgrade that converts gathering tool slots to account-wide. I would gladly pay for this.
2. More bank tabs.
3. More home instance nodes/upgrades/toys/decorations (armor/weapon displays, the ability for unlocked minis to show up around your home instance like the cats do, etc.)
3. Some way for gem store items in our inventory to be gifted permanently to another player. Flag the items so they can only be gifted a single time to prevent people from passing around an item amongst their private group repeatedly. The reason I mention this is that I have a bunch of bank access, black lion trader, etc. that I have acquired over the years. I have the endless version of each and do not need the one-time use items. They just sit and take up space. I wish I could simply transfer them to my girlfriend.
Styles slots.
Add a style slot next to each equipped visible piece of equipment.
Have transmutation charges apply to the style slot, while letting equipment be swapped out freely without changing a character’s appearance.
Here’s an idea:
How about a Dueling Portal Stone?
1. You join a party with another player.
2. Activate the Portal Stone.
3. It prompts the other player that you have activated the stone and if they accept, they will be teleported to a dueling area. (similar to entering an instance with another player currently)
4. If the other player accepts, the party is put into an instance where they can freely attack each other. The instance could be a duplicate of the home instance or one of the current PVP arenas so Anet doesn’t need to develop a new map or anything.
5. While in that instance, there is the same “exit instance” option currently available to exit story/home/etc. instances and would bring the player right back where they were in the world like the Home Portal Stone.
This keeps it out of the open world and for those that want to duel it would encompass one loading screen in and one back out, like every other instanced area in the game.
Marauder gear and scepter/dagger. Why play anything else than most fun spec?
Because “most fun” is different for each person.
The solution for me is simple. I built ascended Celestial gear for all weights and it is neither here nor there but I stopped worrying about meta builds and dropping huge loads of cash on upgrading it when the balance changes. With celestial, you still have some ok condi dmg, ok power, ok boons and solid survivability…and no more gold wasting.
And no endgame, too.
Ony if you are doing endgame stuff with the self-proclaimed Elites. Celestial works fine when playing with Your guild. Both, Fractals and Raids.
While this is true, it makes things harder. I guess deliberately choosing to struggle just ain’t my thing.
Struggle? Not at all. Celestials are doing ~15-20% less dmg than meta classes, based purely on stats, but Raids and fractals are group undertaking and skill balance and combinations are more important than personal DPS. The only thing You will notice is that bosses take around 5% more time to beat, not ~15-20% as You are not soloing.
In a balanced game You would not have to make those decisions and unfortunately, GW2 is not a balanced game, nor Anet will ever balance it out since that is the way for them to make money, always keepiing players in chase of the next balance.
No game ever achieves true balance.
That boss would only take 5% longer to beat if you are the only one gimping your DPS. In your example, the rest of your team would have to be running meta builds for DPS to compensate for your lower DPS. If your whole party was geared in celestial, then that 5% longer amount of time is going to go way up.
And that is fine if that’s what you guys prefer to play.
Also, no matter how balanced a game is, there will always be gear/trait/stat setups that are better at certain roles than others. Even if a DPS build does 1% more damage than another, it is still technically better even if the difference is negligible.
Add a new area to the PVP lobby where players can duel in their PVE setup rather than their PVP setup. It keeps PVP in a PVP area but still allows dueling.
Yeah, I was scratching my head on that comment about ele being best at “damage, support, and survivability.”
I mean, ele can be pretty survivable and provides good support in PvP, but “best”? No. Even if they are capable of being the most survivable, the meta build sacrifices survival to provide that support. And they can’t deal damage effectively at all without sacrificing all of their survival and support. You can’t have it all at once, yet that seems to be what they’re suggesting.
In PvE I have no idea what they’re talking about. Ele is and has been a top damage dealer for some time now, as far as I know? Survival and support aren’t even on the menu and certainly not paired with damage!
I’m not commenting on whether the changes were appropriate. I think that depends upon how ele matches up to other classes and, of course, what happens with the release of the new elite specs. There are too many questions left to be answered to say, so I’m reserving judgment.
But their reasoning (i.e. “ele was best at everything”) seems way off.
I keep seeing people confused at that comment by Anet. I seem to have read it a bit differently than many. I read the comment as elementalist can be the best at any one of these 3 roles if built right, not top in all 3 at once. Essentially, if built right then the ele can be the best DPS or can be the best support or can be the best survival.
Some may still disagree with whether the statement is accurate when reading it that way but it makes a lot more sense. I sincerely doubt their implication was that ele can be the best at all 3 roles at the same time.
No.
Those foods were heavily overtuned.
The change was needed and it’s good that it finally happened.
Agree completely.
Some of my favorite characters were affected by the change but I think it is a good change and I completely understand why it was done.
Why would changes like this not be mentioned before you start accepting money for the product? This seems purely to make you spend more gold, which is already scarce but can be bought with gems. Shame on ANet.
There are plenty of players who would want to buy it right away after it’s announced. Myself included.
The announcement stated there would be a preview weekend for everyone to try it. So the question should be, if your decision to purchase could be swayed by changes in the game then why would you not wait to play the preview before purchasing?
Edit: Also, gold is certainly not scarce in the game. Not in the least.
I’m not sure if you didn’t actually read my brief post or chose to ignore it. I also bought it shortly after it was available but this annoys me. Things like this that make fundamental changes to core parts of the game should have been announced before they accepted money for it. This thread shows that. I hate unidentified loot. I threw it away in GW1.
My post was a direct response to your post.
Again, the announcement of the expansion stated there would be a preview weekend. You chose to purchase before actually playing the preview. That’s your fault, nobody else’s.
Also, since it hasn’t actually released yet, you could simply open a ticket and request a refund explaining that you purchased before trying the preview and that you were not happy with the preview. Arena.net are usually very helpful with that sort of thing.

They clearly only read the unimportant parts of what I wrote.
They catered to the masses instead of looking into good design for balanced and fun gameplay for everyone.
Most of the specs are more of the same.
A lot of the elites just look downright frustrating to play against, as if the PvP wasn’t already getting bad enough…
Your accusation is they catered to the masses instead of designing it for everyone?
First, there is no amount of tweaking and balancing that will make it fun for everyone.
Second, obviously many big additions to the game will attempt to please the “masses” since, by definition, that is the largest part of their player base.
So your complaint is that the are making changes to please a majority of players rather than the niche of players you belong to.
I am looking forward to all of the new elites. I don’t have any expectations of how much I will like or dislike them. I love Guild Wars 2 and I am simply excited to have new things to try and explore. It’ll take some time for the balancing to settle after the expansion releases.
Some other players may be disappointed because they believe the devs don’t listen to the community for their chosen profession. The complaints on forums are the vocal minority. Always have been, always will be.
Also, some players who believe there is no “good” spec for their favorite class, simply haven’t explored the class enough. Many complaints I have seen are more that the build they choose to play is not as strong as they wish it was. They don’t want to change their build to adapt to the game changes. They want the game to change and adapt to their specific build(s).
There are fun and viable builds out there for every class and I am excited to have even more builds to try out.
HOT didn’t fail, the Players DID!
A player is under no obligation to play or support game they don’t find fun. Leaving is always a viable and proper response to any game that not your liking.
When a company makes a game, the people that don’t find it fun either leave or stay around and whine that the game needs to change.
So lets get this clear, if players left the game.. then HoT failed to be fun to them.
Without doubt you’re not obligated. However, as a customer your experience overall is subjective as you and I do not experience it the same way. Do they both matter? Of course.
Though, claiming to represent the voices of all casual players is false and misleading.
Your problem is with HOT not being casual enough for you. My problem is which of the 9 Professions and Builds to use with so many available options.
Well, I never said ALL. There are always those the exceptions, but.. from what this topic has wrought, my views align with a substantial portion of the casual community. If you want to be some lone voice, by all means, go ahead, I won’t stop you, and I’ll gladly not speak up for you.
Feel better?
My thoughts regarding this entire topic aside, your statement here is a big problem with people on the forums. You assume you represent the standard casual player and other casual players are the exception to your rule. You cite the replies in this thread as evidence of that.
The forum is the vocal minority of players. Some negative, some positive. But someone who is upset at something in the game is more likely to voice that on the forums than someone who is content in the game. So the replies you see that agree with your opinions do not automatically represent the majority of casual players. They represent a small percentage of forum posters, who, in turn, represent a small percentage of the game’s total population.
Feedback on the forum is fine and can be productive. But no opinion expressed on a forum can ever be proven to represent a majority of players or the majority of a specific player type. It only proves a percentage of forum posters agree with something.
I can almost never get the charact name I want. Can we plaease get a character name cleanup on unused unclaimed accounts ? or like have #2345 so I can have the name I want ???… Im wasting name change scrolls for nothing.
The name change contract instantly tells you if the name is taken before you attempt to finalize it. There is no wasting involved.
I disagree with this. Unbound Magic is a Living Story season 3 currency. Two years from now, there will be another currency that people want.
They need to do something with the EoL stuff, but it shouldn’t be tied down to one segment of the game.
That was just an example. Obviously the idea could be expanded over time. For example, a vendor that trades EoL for UM and also for other future currencies similar to UM.
Or, maybe after level 300 MF-from-luck, they let EoL start a new enhancement tier for Karma/.Gold bonuses much like achievement chests reward at certain levels.
Magic find=you “might” get slightly better drops so a rare instead of masterwork.
Unbound magic is endless T6 mats=a totally broken idea.Yes, it sucks to be capped in something, but that is how games work. There is no reason to change it.
It isn’t a broken idea. Unbound magic can be had quite easily, especially with UM gathering tools that work on every gathering node in the game. There is no daily limit to UM gathering so being able to exchange EoL for it doesn’t break anything. I didn’t suggest what ratio the exchange should be so the exchange rate could be tweaked so people don’t have a million UM right away. It could be 1:1 for exotic EoL, for example.
To be clear, my unbound magic suggestion was just the first thing that came to mind. There are countless ways a use could be made for it.
The idea of increasing the cap while making it take longer to increase the percentage is a good one.
I don’t like the idea of guild decorations, though, simply because those of us not in a position to utilize that would still be left with nothing to do with EoL. If something is implemented as a sink for excess EoL it should be something every player can utilize.
Well, you’re right. I logged on to check and I literally could not tell by looking or mousing over the icon which repeatable ones I’ve already done.
Edit: mousing over map completion % on the UI made the ones not done flare. So I guess try that.
The icon for an HP you haven’t done has a small “+” on it. The icon for one you’ve completed but is repeatable has a small infinity symbol on it. You can tell just by looking at the icon.
I saw the tiny plus sign on some but had no idea what it meant. It could have meant that that’s the ones I still need to do. That’s a bad design imo. Why not an obvious color change instead of a tiny plus sign that can be hard to see.
The flash upon UI mouse over tells which one is still needed, but not everyone knows that trick or may have forgotten it if the last map completion was some time back.
The icon has a physical variation to it. If you open your map and zoom in you can easily see the difference. There is nothing wrong with the icon.
You didn’t know what the plus sign meant and how it differed from the infinity sign. Fair enough. That means you probably were not aware some HPs were repeatable when you saw the 2 icons. If you were aware then I would say the infinity sign is an easy indicator that it’s the repeatable one.
So, if you were unaware some HPs were now repeatable, how exactly would a different color icon have made that any more apparent than the infinity symbol? It’s just an altered version of an icon that was already there. Whether an altered symbol or different color, it indicates something changed for that HP.
The icons are fine.

Once an account reaches max Magic Find from Luck, I was thinking it might be nice if consuming Essence of Luck after that point would produce Unbound Magic.
I reached max MF from Luck a while back. I have been saving the Essence of Luck in my bank in case the cap was raised or some other use I was interested in was added to the game.
I think converting it to Unbound Magic would be a good solution. Thoughts?
UPDATE: Some kind soul just sent me 5 keys in game. Since it was gifted anonymously from the store, I couldn’t see their name or send a reply message to thank them. So to whoever just sent those over, thank you so much! Your timing was perfect. It’s been a horrendous week for me, personally, and that was a nice surprise! I got the Hounds of Balthazar mail carrier as well as finished off my scraps for a Black Lion ticket!
Consider this request filled!
Hello all,
For better or worse I have always enjoyed opening Black Lion Chests. I enjoy the thrill of the gamble and I am really hoping to get one of the endless contracts to drop from one some day since the prices on the TP for those items are insane. I generally buy keys periodically as a way to support the game with my money. Unfortunately, due to a change in my financial situation, I will be unable to get any for quite a while. So if anyone wants to send a key (or 5, or 25
) my way that would be amazing!
(edited by Wolfheart.7483)
It was not this way before. The options that turned on “no progression” for a custom arena used to only affect rank points, dailies and achievement tracks but not reward tracks.
I haven’t played in a couple months, just came back and played my password protected custom arena with a friend. We used to get progress on our reward tracks at the end of a match but this is no longer occurring. So does anyone know if the “no progression” now includes the reward track progression or if this is due to something else I might be overlooking or perhaps an update I missed over the last couple months?
I was hoping that during that gem store sale a couple of weeks back we would get the bunny ears, thick rimmed glasses, and aviator glasses back. There are a lot of items that never leave the gem store, panda hats, reading glasses, but then there are these rare few that look amazing that just disappeared a year or two ago. I was wondering will they ever come back. I feel kinda disappointed that there are items that can never be acquired again. Im all for exclusivity that occurs due to difficulty, i.e. legendaries or one time events with difficult challenges, liadri, but if its just something that could be purchased on the gem store why not bring it back?
On a side note will aetherized weapons ever become available again? They are the only skins that are no longer available except from the TP where their prices are absurd and with very little supply. I think theres only 1 pistol up on the tp qq.
Aetherized are not the only skins no longer available. Fused and Dreamthistle, for example, are not available either. I am assuming (hoping) that most/all of the skin sets no longer available will show back up for a limited time like they have done with other sets (Wintersday, Halloween, etc.)
its human nature to want to be different
Apparently I’m broken, because that phrase really doesn’t apply to me. I don’t really give a rat’s kitten if I’m ‘different.’ I don’t have any particular desire to ‘stand out in the crowd’ (it tends to make one a target). Conversely I don’t have any driving to desire to conform either.
shrug
You honestly aren’t bothered by the idea of living your whole life as a complete nobody? Because that’s one of the major driving forces behind my goals in life. Normalcy is the unfortunate consequence of a world with limited resources, and so “normals” are nothing but pawns in the money-making machines of the rich, living their whole lives by the standards set forth by the very people who stand to make money taking advantage of it.
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with being considerably “normal” (although everybody is different in their own way), but the lack of a desire to avoid that is odd to me.
On topic: those wings are gross and literally half the people playing right now have them. I move that everybody reading this adopt a policy of saying “NICE WINGS” in ‘say’ chat to everyone they see wearing them.
I think it’s more important to focus on who you want to be, who you enjoy being. Whether the end result of that makes you a “nobody” or the most famous person in the world, should be irrelevant.
….
Magic Find affects Bandit Chests. But very few (if any) other containers. You’d be surprised at the players that are ignorant of what MF actually does (or effects) in the game.
No, it wouldn’t, and doesn’t, surprise me.
My only point is that: yes, Silverwastes is more geared to rewards being in containers, moreso than anywhere else in the game. But when they added this area, they ensured that the most abundant loot containers in the area (bandit chests) are affected by Magic Find. So if they continued the trend of putting loot in containers, one could assume they would continue a trend of having those containers be affected by magic find.
…“maybe’s and might be” in the future isn’t necessarily set in stone, and people want it now and will gladly pay cash for it. Seems like a win win for everyone.
Also why 24 hours anyways? just curious it usually lasts a weekend or more… we still have lots of costumes that hardly anyone wears.
There is no “maybe” or “might be”, it was confirmed and even states it in the blog post that these are future items that they decided to make available early for one day only. They will all be added back to the gem store at the time they were planned for normal release.
…Given all that and now that Anet seem to be pushing rewards into boxes instead of drops ( IE silverwastes ) MF is nearly no use at all here, and Anet stay mute on this topic because as the stands people are still sinking gold into MF.
Magic Find affects Bandit Chests.
…and NO no matter how skilled you are you can’t kill a champion alone. Champions are by definition something you do with a party or a group of people. …
The majority of the champions in the game can be defeated solo….
I dare you, i double dare you to defeat them alone. They are created to encourage team play…otherwise what’s the point.
Sure maybe with a ranger or mesmer from a safe distance and in like 30 minutes…sure…but that’s no fun
Ummm I, as well as many others, have soloed many champions in the game. I have done it with every class in the game. Will a new player be able to do it right at the start, solo? Probably not. After getting more experienced in the game and practicing your class(es) it is completely possible to solo the majority of champions.
Why do it? Because it’s fun to me and I enjoy the challenge.
…and NO no matter how skilled you are you can’t kill a champion alone. Champions are by definition something you do with a party or a group of people. …

Now that the new stability change is going to be a use once sort of deal and then you’re going to get pounded to what ever comes your way.
Does this mean that dagger storm is useless now? What’s the point of a channeled elite that can be easily interrupted now? I mean there were ways to interrupt it before. But now it’s a two hit crowd control and it’s over.
Is basilisk venom becoming the only option now?
You’re jumping the gun here. A change like the stability update will be followed/accompanied by updates to skills that grant stability. Until we know how stability will change for Dagger Storm, we shouldn’t assume.
Where does this ‘second highest damage in game’ nonsense come from?
If I am not mistaken, with some of the recent patches, Thief has highest single-target DPS now which would explain some people referencing Ele as second highest damage.
A vast majority of the playerbase complains about the PVE in this game. Most people do not like the fact that everyone has to run zerkers and it’s all about doing as much DPS as possible. A lot of people complain about this to ANET. The only way they could possibly fix this is make tanking/healing viable so that not everything is a dps-fest.
With the introduction of a 6 second taunt on revenant, and class specializations, specifically druid ranger, I’m hoping anet is moving towards the holy trinity. This would open up so many more options for types of gameplay and builds. I know anet started out not wanting a trinity but in reality, you need it in MMOs or everything will just be DPS-fest.
In this video there is a bar under the NPCs health that changes when it is being taunted by the player. Is this a new sort of aggro system? I truly hope so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7zkWJxYqUATo all that are going to say you don’t want tanks/healers, then you also can’t complain about everyone running zerkers and dps spamming through dungeons, because that’s what we got for not having a trinity.
First, you don’t know or speak for the vast majority of the playerbase.
Second, going full trinity isn’t even close to the only way they could “fix” the zerk/dps meta.
Third, Taunt in GW2 does not function like Taunting abilities do in trinity MMOs.
Someone is in denial. Every day I see people saying how garbage the pve is on reddit, these forums, and in-game map chat. at pax they say they hope the expansion will bring “pve content that isn’t terrible”.
The “they” you are speaking of from PAX was that one guy that said that in the audience.
Reddit is more garbage than any PVE in any game, ever. Forums, here or reddit, have a tendency to attract more people who are unhappy than they do those that are happy. Forum posts are not representative of the majority of the playerbase. Those who post on the forums are a very small percentage of the whole playerbase.
I have seen and talked to countless people in and out of game who enjoy the game very much. Does that mean the “vast majority” enjoy it? No. Nobody can say what the vast majority of players think. Period.
Third, Taunt in GW2 does not function like Taunting abilities do in trinity MMOs.
how can you actively play two accounts on two computers, you’d have to switch keyboard and mouse every time you wanted to go from character A to character B, when you swap to character B then character A would be standing still :S
Well, off the top of my head, you could control one with a mouse in your right hand and control the second with something like a gaming keypad or left-handed mouse in your left hand.
Multiboxing is allowed as long as you are actively playing both accounts and not botting/automating/whatever on one
Having followed this thread, I think having some kind of LFG filter system to enable players to only play with who they want to play with would be beneficial. This means that if you filter for “AP > 5000” no one with less than 5000 AP can join your group. Likewise, if you filter for “No Necromancer” then no Necromancer can join your party.
On the flip-side, I will note that this creates physical barriers to partying with others, which may or may not be healthy for the game. What if no one ever creates a dungeon run that allows players with less than 1000AP into parties? They never get to experience that content and then leave the game having never known what it was? Maybe things like AP should be left out of the filter system to avoid that situation?
Let’s try to talk about what filters we’d think would be valuable if we had such a system. Some ideas from others and my own ideas follow:
- Level Filters (Level 80 Only, Level 50+)
- Class Filters (No Necromancer, Max 3 Elementalists, Guardian Only, Heavy Only)
- AP Filter (1000+ AP, <10000 AP)
Feel free to discuss the pros and cons of each.
I agree the AP thing could, in theory, create barriers but should still be a filter. While I am not one who posts an AP requirement, I think the goal of the filters is so people can have the best chance of putting together the party they want. So, although I agree the AP requirement groups, for the most part, are absurd, LFG filters should allow all types of groups to filter out what they don’t want. Just as someone should be able to filter out a class, so too should they be able to filter on AP, stats, etc. Plus a lot of filters could potentially create a similar barrier. What if groups always filtered out Necromancer? or Ranger?
I am curious what people may think about an equipment filter? For instance, any player joining the party must have X number of Berserker gear pieces of level 80 exo/asc.? If that were a possible filter, it would need to lock gear in place, like Custom Arenas have the option to. Granted I doubt anyone is going to require all Nomad’s or something absurd like that but naturally this filter would be to minimize the “non-zerk” from joining groups that want zerk only.
There could also be filters requiring a specific Achievement be completed (i.e. Dungeon Master, or a specific dungeon achievement track). Granted that achievement is not indicative of talent/skill but it’s at least more of an indicator that they have dungeon experience than overall AP is.
On a side note, I think enough people are interested in LFG filters that maybe a thread dedicated to it would be appropriate? Perhaps stickied so it doesn’t get lost?
