I run a similar build for WvW. He might be using Rabid armor with Rabid Trinkets and weapons, if you are primary solo roaming, its the best build. I’m usually with the zerg. If running in the zerg, Dire Gear with Rabid weapons and Trinkets is best.

Spike Trap stays on your bar, the 2nd trap can be anything but Flame trap has fastest cooldown. The 3rd utility skill can be anything to fit the situation, I normally have Signet of the hunt for movement speed and swap it out quick before initiating in combat for Signet of Hunt or Sharpening stone. You will be mid to front line in the zerg battle so be sure to use healing spring with warhorn 5 for the AoE Heal.

Empathic Bond can be swap for Bark Skin also if in zerg fights but cant be beat in 1vX fights.

Hey guys! The only way to get our old look from spvp is to transmute the skin onto our current set of PvE gear. So when I replace my current set of PvE gear with new gear I either have to transmute again, or re-equip the old gear to regain my old look?

Yep I am leveling my ranger (not using tomes), thanks for all the great feed back. I think this thread showed how the ranger is quite so hated as some think ^ ^

I actually don’t want to, whenever I make a class in Spvp I spend weeks diving in and exploring everything about them. When it comes to PvE I am a complete wimp, so I am hoping the brand new experiences of leveling a ranger will keep me going until I hit 80 ^ ^

I reiterate, try every class and just play whatever you enjoy the most. I could go so far as to say you will become more skilled at a class if you enjoy yourself with it, and therefore the class you enjoy enough is the “best class” for you

I have tried every class except Ranger, that’s why I posted here. I always leaned towards enjoying the more complicated elementalist/engi classes for leveling, and couldn’t stand warrior/guard for leveling. But then again warrior was my favorite Spvp class, so go figure…

@Maeggle I am pretty comfortable with every class since I earned the glory through pvping with every champ, so that shouldn’t be an issue. Thank for your great and informative feedback! I was leaning away from thief simply because that was one of my top played Spvp classes, but then again WvWvW is a totally new playing field. Ranger is the only class I haven’t touched so that was a bit attractive, I just see too many negative posts about pet AI and LFG issues.

Looks like I will be rolling a guardian or remaking my 80 ele that I deleted to transfer servers haha. Although Necro seems like a blast, it doesn’t seem to have enough mobility to keep up with ele.

Hey guys! Thanks for all your help so far, love the opinions I got on my last thread. I found out I have enough glory left over to instant an 80 through tomes. Two questions really, as an elementalist what is your favorite roaming partner in WvWvW and is there any reason I shouldn’t instant someone to 80 through tomes?

I found out I have enough glory saved from before I left to get any class instant 80 through tomes, so I might just instant 80 whatever class my friends want and then have fun leveling a ranger ^ ^

Hey guys, I am deleting my 80 ele and transferring servers so I can be with my friends in WvWvW. The only class I haven’t played extensively in sPvP is Ranger. I was picking the Ranger because it would be the only class that is brand new to me, but reading some forum posts has disheartened me a bit. Specifically the buggy ai of pets and the LFG hate on rangers. Is this a real thing (in which case I will just roll a guardian), or are rangers actually a blast to play and I should get started right away?

Hey everyone! I think the title says it all, but if you desire more text to read here it is: I almost exclusively play games for their pvp content. The only 80 I have is an elementalist (since I am such a wimp when it comes to getting through PvE content), but I thoroughly enjoyed myself as a warrior, necromancer, guardian and rogue in Spvp.

After the Elementalist nerfs the class always seemed meh to me and is the ultimate reason why I moved on (about a year ago). I am hoping to get myself hooked again and this time around I want to get into WvWvW.

Is Elementalist going to do it for me?
I am used to dominating pvp in Rift and I am a diamond player from League so I have decent twitch reaction, will any of it transfer over?

The rotation is on too short of a cd to rinse and repeat. It leaves no counterplay.

The combination of root + teleport + blurred frenzy + shatter + phantasms needs to be nerfed.

I would love another weapon, and fully support it being added even if it is rifle… but thats as far as I go. Rifle seems way to far off from a caster class. As much as I would love double pistols… same thing. Now dual swords… THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME!!!

I want a greatsword simply because it is the most aesthetically pleasing weapon in the game. The skins made from greatsword are simply fantastic. I have re-rolled a warrior because of them!

They definitely need another weapon. People would go crazy if they got a new weapon It would be amazing.

Greatsword would be amazing, but I could settle for one handed sword if I have too. Greatsword is the most aesthetically pleasing weapon and would be so amazing on elementalists. Please please add it! I think a full new weapon would actually be easier to set up then testing a one handed weapon with all the different combos.

@Adonisis- It is recommend that Arcane Wave be taken with that spec for maximum damage effect, but if you do not feel comfortable going from 3 cantrips to 1 then just play a bit with Arcane Blast and as you get more comfortable you can try adding in and see how it goes.
Also it appears that some of the runes I am using in my hybrid build are not available in sPvP. basically the blade has like 3 segments on it, when you draw them, the blade unfolds to its full length. When you sheath it, it folds back up again

I am currently out leveling my girl and have decided to level an alt while I wait up for her. I have a guardian and mesmer almost level 40, a thief almost level 20 and level 3 necro. I am wondering what class you think would be an enjoyable alternate playstyle for a D/D elementalist who thoroughly enjoys sPvP (only rank 26 atm though).

Could it possibly be the wording of “gained” versus “granting”?

The 6 slotted rune active works to remove a condition though and uses the wording gain.
Rune of Dwayna: (6): When you use a healing skill, you and all nearby allies gain regeneration for 5 seconds. (Cooldown: 10s)

I have been testing on the necromancer in the mists and can’t seem to get conclusive results. I let him kill me and watch for it to proc hoping it will remove a condition. Either it removes a condition too fast for me to notice or its not removing a condition.

@Rogue Girl Norn’s can use all animal spirits once unlocked Elementalist’s are a blast! I greatly recommend ignoring forum posts and making one. Hit me up in game I will definitely help break you into some Elementalist sPvP. What is your current class?
