Hello, I just made a brand new shiney Ranger, something I never thought I’d end up making honestly. I play my Engineer almost full time, but I’m leveling up with a buddy to keep my interest in the game since the spark is sort of slowly dying out. Her name is
P E T A and is a sylvari hehe. As an Engineer I was pretty used to the prejudice of not being wanted in a party. Do you guys experience the same thing?

Also, any tips and tricks would be helpful since I know nothing of the class

It gives swiftness speed out of combat while youre still in combat. To me, thats more than enough.

Yes to alliances, they had them in GW1 with an alliance chat as well displaying guild tags. I’m not so much concerned about ping, more about timezones but I might as well join you guys anyways. The way I envision an engineer guild (as a PVE player): share and invent builds + try to clear high level content with engineer team

I have an EU’s schedule actually, so like… that stuff wouldn’t even be a problem for some people if they connected the two. ahhh yeah, i miss those kitten alliances. The whole reason behind my making the guild in the first places instead of joining a big guild was 1. I hate big guilds and the foul people that pollute them. 2. Playing alone is very..well… lonely with my schedule. 3. I have a friend who told me an all engi party couldn’t clear any content. Challenge accepted.

But I truly think if you want an all engi guild on Eu, make one. It doesnt seem like the other acme guild has a big influence at all. Go out there and MAKE an influence for us engineers!

Yeah, I wish they would come out with alliances or something. That worked very well with other mmo’s. no reason it couldn’t work out here. Then again, there is no reason whatsoever why NA can’t play with EU players. the servers aren’t even in different countries! It makes no sense.

“Hold the line!”? Do you realized you’ve found the lost voiceover for hold the line? When a guardian uses the shout, they just say something related to boons but they don’t actually say “Hold the line!” We need someone to move that over to the right skill.

A little bit out there yes, but it’s early morning, and i’m a bit goofy right now.

If you want something different with a higher skill cap than other professions, I would choose Engineer. They -can- withstand damage, and dish it out. But it’s honestly true of any class. However where with a necro mobility in wvw was the issue as said above, it certainly isnt for an engineer. There are several successful engi’s roaming around wvw.

You might be getting a bunch of swiftness, or just a few stacks of might or something.

You won’t get anywhere spamming it in LA, it has to be on a monster I found it to work. I spent hours and hours trying to get her to say something fighting low level mobs and using the skills. But she just wouldn’t say anything. I think theres more to it. But seriously Confusing speech has a very…very…long confusing speech that she says if you can catch it. I was like wait whaaaaaat? I’m going to try using these skills in dungeons more to see if she gets more reaction. Keeping it updated.

If it’s family and friends irl i understand that. I guess I’m reaching out to a much larger group for my server to raise the spirits of fellow engineers so we can stop being so angry all the time. Make videos, have some fun, kick some butt, be a huge influence you know.

To the OP, you can try out a support bomb healing build with some cleric’s gear or soldiers gear I think it is for more tankyness. Use elixers for condition removal, and throw a healing turret in there and you’d be pretty helpful to your party I think. But don’t take any of this advice in seriousness. I tend to make some stupid builds lol.

If you’re going to try to make an EU engi guild, that’s great, do it as soon as you can.

I tried to gather the best possible footage for this video -was planning to take a few weeks gathering it- but my hard drive kindly reminded me to take it easy as storage space tends to be finite. So this is still not the absolutely best I can get but I hope it’s enjoyable, there’s no pure 1v1s or 1v2s, all fights feature at least 3 opponents, sometimes together, others in quick succession, other times from different servers, all 80s except a couple. You know, the usual :p
It came out a bit longer than I expected which is sad because I had a couple more good fights I wanted to include, maybe better than some of those there, but also longer or repetitive (I’ve been rightfully accused of living at foghaven).
I most likely won’t make a new one until the next patch and w/e it brings us, I might open an exception for one of those duel nights that have been happening lately on my current wvw matchup.

Actually that looks like a good idea I was sort of thinking of getting toughness or vit or something, but when I think about it, if you don’t get hit you don’t need to worry. Now I just gotta practice not getting hit :P

Unfortunately I don’t think Engineers can just craft one set of armor that’s suitable for all builds, or something that you can wear “anywhere and everywhere.”

Pistol = Rabid
Rifle = Berserker
Tool Kit = Carrion
Grenade Kit = Rampager
Flamethrower = Berserker
Bomb Kit = Carrion or Cleric

I’m sure some could contest with a few of these insignia choices, but the fact remains that you’re just not going to get the most out of the Pistol wearing Berserker gear nor will you get the most out of the Flamethrower wearing Cleric.

I really recommend just settling on 1-2 kits as your “main” setup and gearing around it appropriately. When you want to specialize in another setup, create a full second set of gear.

This seems daunting until you realize you can farm a dungeon for a week and get all the tokens you need. Or just use karma to buy sets like Rabid in Orr, including jewelry. You can, of course, cut some corners, like wearing Rabid gear with the Tool Kit.

Its not about the dungeon runs or anything like that. It’s when I get my T3, I don’t want to switch OUT of my T3 armor to look like some dunce in another set of armor. and I’m not spending hundreds of gold on several T3 sets.

I know we aren’t useless. The times I have gotten groups, the runs have gone smoothly and quickly. I just can’t seem to find many who will allow me to prove it except in pvp… I always get asked if I have a Guardian or ele… no? Boot.

Seriously, i think you get bad luck in finding people, because i’ve never been asked such things.

I have, and have been kicked at various phases of dungeon-forming, including just before a run would start. I remember being in a group, doing the ENTIRE CoF fight to open the dungeon again, and then kicked for some kitten who just stood at the blocked portal the whole time.

I SWEAR TO GOD I even had a conversation where a group-leader didn’t even know and INSISTED Engineers didn’t exist as a class. I found the group on the LFG site and when I said “Engineer” he thought I meant “ele”, when I said “No, Engineer!”, he went on to declare I’m not playing the same game, as Engineer isn’t a class…

So yeah, as Phelan said, it’s not the class itself, it’s the stigma & stereotype that follow the kittening class, and because of that, no matter how well you play, you’re doomed to mediocrity even before level 1.

I can only imagine this guy was trolling you. No idiot, no matter how ignorant, can truely believe a class that clearly exists in the game does not exist. It had to be a troll who was just pushing buttons. I’ve had people troll me in groups, never being that serious just to get me all riled up.

Hello/, So, as a few people may know, I switch builds almost daily, switch traits out depending on what I’m fighting (It’s just how I play and am not annoyed with this), And I really want to get my T3 cultural but my problem is what stats do I want to stick with when I’m constantly switching builds and play styles?

I love well rounded, or even all stat things. I just use so many different skills that everything -does- help. But theres no way i could mix and match gear to make it all stat and well rounded without being totally useless in the end. I just want something I can wear anywhere and everywhere. So I can transmute it to my permanent armor

Try not to tell me how to play or anything >.> I do just fine.
