Why does anet hate us so much? I just don’t understand why we get nerfed to the ground? It’s probably because they only look at spvp but still. They shoudl at least have some insight to how we work in pve?

The difference between a good engineer and a bad one is miles apart. I usually hold my tongue in PvE if I see pistols, as long as they’re staying in grenades – but if we’re having trouble at the grawl fractal, and they’re using a flamethrower still, you can guarantee I’m gonna tell them how to play.

I’m always changing skills / weapons for the situation, so that’s not me, but that’s not what i was referring to. They’re just so moody! I dunno how to explain it. But back to what you were saying, I don’t tell anyone how to play :x cause if i go down, id feel like a fool.

Every Engineer I come across, most of the time via grouping for dungeon or something.. They’re always so grumpy! They’re never in a good mood, and usually have more harsh personalities than I’d prefer. Sure, I’m not little ms sunshine. Not at all actually… but have some fun you get two engis in your party you should be like kewl! We have a better chance at failing now! or something :P for jokes

Well you could always try a new guild. I just created a guild, MECH. we just have 4 people right now. We are mature , laid back and are on one of the top three servers in gw2. I am a commander and we love taking keeps in WvW and doing dungeons. But we make room for pve. If your interested send me a message on here. All ranks in the guild are based on performance so you could be our next leader! Also have a ventrilo server.

Don’t you love how people disregard your question and try to recruit despite of you just saying other guilds weren’t the right fit.

Back on topic, like said above, the best recruiting is when you meet people actually actively doing things in the game. you’ll find A. They’re actually active and B. You can actually talk to them and see their gaming performance, not that it matters too much to you i imagine. Small guilds are great, it’s all about activity, not numbers.

I tested this goofing off in Lions Arch, you can indeed throw your turrets on walls and ceilings if they’re low enough, however, the circle of affect it gives you is also on the ceiling hell, if you can deploy turrets on walls close enough to hit things, and enemies won’t notice them and you can really start using them for some CC Should I delete this thread before it gets fixed >.>

So, I remember doing a CoE dungeon a while ago and using deployable turret trait to see something, and I could put my turret upside down, on the ceiling. I didn’t check if I could be healed by it when it was up there. Has anyone tested and tried out to see if a healing turret could be placed up there and still give regen? heh.

I don’t know if this has been asked already, but are they planning on coming out with new ascended back pieces with all stats or anything? I’m planning on upgrading my backpiece but afraid they’ll add more and I’ll be wasting 500 ectos lol. Should I wait or go ahead with it?

Predator dosn’t fit engineers anyway, try the charrzoka instead I have it on my engineers and the silly size is amazing.

Yeah I think predator looks great on engineers, but dont talk to me about my charzooka, i transmuted it to switch it to another character and accidently salvage it cause it didn’t ask “are you sure?”

I don’t join farming runs, but even when I’m just trying to do my daily cof thing, they still expect it to be a farming run and kitten at the fact that I’m not doing a cof farming run lol. And then proceed to tell me to learn how to play because I’m an engi, and leave party, in which I’ll just block em and be done with it.

But say, even doing Fractals and stuff, people want all warriors, and mainly nothing else. Bleh, again, venting too much =/ sorry

You guys must have terrible servers. Move on over to Tarnished Coast. I’ve been playing GW2 since launch, and I’ve never had anyone to have any issues with my class. I have no issues getting groups to do any of the content.

Actually, using gw2lfg.com, I get people from every server. It’s just sad because when I join a party, everyone usually frowns about it lol. I’ve had plenty of parties with people from TC though, Almost moved servers to tarnished coast, til I decided to stay on crystal desert.

Only reason I’m making my own is because of Crystal Desert WvW play, I can’t wvw with another server’s guild. I’d be more than happy to join to say hi to some friendly engineers though

Reminds me of that dredge Fractal where I cooked up some homemade stealth in order to engage the Bombs level more easily, the Mesmer next to me was like

“An Engi bringing something useful? impossible lol”

“Yeah well look, if you’re not kittening happy with me you’re free to kittening leave, if you knew better you’d have just used your kitten elite and I wouldn’t have gone through this skill mess in order to get you through”

Of course, nobody will care if we can bring some safe ranged DPS with a Net on 7s cooldown for situations like the Fractal Dredge Boss or that we are very solid overall. People will literally make threads in here saying that the Engi is a waste of a class slot for everything. I’m not giving appreciations to all the FoTM’s I kill, no matter how overpowered we are.

I do the same thing, I do an engineer’s version of shadow refuge and most players are like whaaaaaaat? engineers can do that? Your’e right though, even after I bring useful skills and decent gameplay, people still don’t have faith in me. They either still stick to their narrow minded opinions of us, or they increase their teasing just to fire me up lol. Either way, it’s aggravating and I’m always saving people’s butts in dungeons because I know how to survive, which isn’t an engineer ability, that’s just better skill than most casual players I suppose. Good to know someone is going through the same thing though

It’s sort of game play preference, if you like pure power, and alot of in and out combat, or if you like to have some utility along with your gameplay. Honestly, any engineer should have both a rifle and pistol/shield in dungeon game play, PVE, or even pvp if it calls for it. Change based on the situation. I, myself, enjoy pistol/shield for the blocks/reflect it gives me. the damage is significantly less unless you spec for some condition damage and what not. But the blind on pistol # 3 is a very nice add to dungeon play me thinks.

This is why I’m creating my guild the Engineer Preservation Society. A majority of Engi’s, but other classes also in it who welcome us with open arms I’m tired of being placed under this shadow in people’s minds that I’m no good.

Instead of legendary kits I wish the current legendaries would change the appearance of your kits. Like with the Predator it already turns your grenade barrage into plasma grenades. Maybe with the Flameseeker it would make them Holy Hand grenades and with the Quip some kind of firework.

I don’t play pvp as often as you guys. in PVE I’m usually always screwed if I get downed. Which is why I make sure to never get downed in the first place. which I succeed at decently. The abilities are fine for pvp, maybe, even though you still get killed even if you CC them. But for PVE and dungeon running which is what I do 99.9% of the time while im playing. No, they’re terrible and I think a better downed skilled would be great.

The sad part is RNG is part of this class. Its how the idea is, RNG with elixirs so we have no idea what we get from these nasty concoctions. I just hate the wire in PVE and want it changed, it serves no purpose when the only time I’ll ever get downed is on a boss fight. If you get downed to trash..you’re bad or with a bad group :x

Okay, I feel like this has been ignored for far too long. So we have down skills that are just sub-par to most. What I don’t understand is we have a skill that blows people away from us, but then we have this wire that pulls people towards us. It’s like “Come here enemy!……Now go away enemy!” It doesn’t make sense, at least in my opinion. Why on earth when I am downed and trying to get back up would I want an ability that pulls a monster or whatever closer to me? Yes…come to my nearly dead body, that’s what I want…NOT.

So I give you this idea. instead of some pointless wire. Give us a “Drink Elixir” ability that has a chance to give us different effects from other classes, only less powerful. Such as…. Drinks Elixir, becomes invul. ; Drinks Elixir, becomes stealthed. ; Drinks Elixir, creates healing circle. And so on….

Some of those were a bit OP, but you get my idea right? Just give us an elixir that can do something random instead of giving me this wire I NEVER use unless im trying to stop someone from sticking a pole through my body…and let’s face it, they end up doing it anyway.

My lvl 15 masterwork guardian does more heals than my lvl 80 exotic engineer…i cry a little inside…and survives longer.

A guardian specializes in support, an engineer does not, but an engineer can do a little bit of everything. A jack of all trades is just that. A jack, not a king. I’ve killed / made guardians run from my engineer before. so hah.

Though…. I can’t tell if it was because of my deadliness…. or my really annoying pistol…hmmmmm

I have also destroyed many of guardians, bunkers, dps, whatever. I don’t stay still, I time when I do what (Although still working on mastering that…) Although I haven’t quite had an issue with them running away… I guess tunnel vision is increased when you wear so much heavy steel. xD

Everyone runs from me!!! Agh, so i just magnet them and smash them in the face with some confusion. Usually cures that right up. But still, iunno why they do it. Chickens.

lol, I prefer to throw my wrench at them to “test the distance”, as it has a nice cripple effect. Followed by a glue shot, since they will probably want to wipe that cripple off, THEN magnet after I have dumped a box of nails. Not many people have been able to get away from me with that, although it may be a bit overkill, but if they want to run away, they probably won’t be doing much damage to me Thieves are my biggest issue… I can’t find a counter for their SB shadowstep, at which point I just /threaten :p

Actually, I don’t think a thief one on one has ever killed me :x I can always get away and counter them. Especially when they stealth and i just aoe everything, they appear dead when stealth wears off oh the joys. Then they come back with two more thieves and then of course I’ll die, but not without a fight.

Personally I don’t find the Predator all that befitting and Engineer, but that’s just me. And I would never even consider the ‘clown gun’ either.

I really like the Asura Cultural T3 for my Engineer though as well as the Glyphic Pistol model

(Didn’t buy the headpiece or the gloves though as I liked mine better)

I had hoped for a discussion about cultural skins for kits or turrets and such when I came to this thread though.

Yeahhhhhhhh….. I love my clown gun. It fits my character’s personality. And mine for that matter. I already have the gun, so mleh! Theres been enough discussion about the cultural skins and turrets for a while now. All that needs to be said has been said.

But as for the T3 Cultural talk, I love the outfit, it makes good for that asuran techy engineer appearance we all love. Plus the Asuran cultural shield makes it fit together very nicely.

If they ever get around to implementing this supposed “precursor scavenger hunt” thing, your precursor woes may be alleviated, so I wouldn’t just completely abandon the legendary. Last thing you want to do is find that they implement an easier way to obtain precursors and you’re no longer easily positioned to get your legendary.

If you still have other things needed for a legendary, I’d work on getting those first. I’m going to worry about the precursor last, because worrying about it now would just make me quit going for it like it did for you.

Otherwise, you can always test your misfortune with the mystic toilet… maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones.

I don’t expect a precursor scavenger hunt for many many months to come, but maybe when I’m working on my third legendary they’ll come out with it ^^. I already do have a good amount of whats already needed for my legendary and I’ll keep saving up, if anything this might save me money on mats and stuff. My stupid logic was, get the most expensive item first then work from there, but people are telling me thats not the way to go But I actually am starting to try the mystic forge because of the raised price, seeing if maybe luck finds me.

Honestly, the so called “nerf bat” came around this last patch, and I’m watching the gameplay, looks pretty much the same. I’m still the only one who doesn’t die and running around saving everyone elses butt ^^;

If that’s the new price for precursor’s I may as well quit -_- 500+g is fine. 900g is something NOBODY should pay for, end of story.

So I was thinking, Should I give up and splurge on Asuran cultural T3 and a shiny fractal backpiece, or continue the grind and succeed in predator. What skins should my engi get first? (btw I have quip)
