The issue is that there is another phase of the fight after this. However, sometimes the event freezes up after you get the hologram to 25% and doesn’t start the next part. It is pretty frustrating when it’s hard enough to even get a chance to fight the hologram.
Try going to the central plaza (Lion Court) at exactly 40 minutes after the hour (7:40 pm, for example). From what I have noticed this escort and the moa racers escort seems to happen only once per cycle at this specific time.
Marriner comes out of one of the destroyed houses on the northwest side of the central area and I think the moas come from south of the Priory entrance waypoint.
Lets not jump ahead of things now shall we.
Until we have confirmation this is actually a thing it would be best to assume that it is either a joke, or something added to the alpha test-servers just to test the waters, or even an offer specific to the Chinese Release of GW2.
If it was a Chinese specific feature I doubt it would be localized or written in English, and the reddit user who posted that has been pretty dead on with every item that has been data mined over the last year. Basically every item he has posted on reddit ended up in the actual game.
I do hope you’re right that it is to test things out in the alpha servers and gets scrapped though.
This issue is exactly the same with the Radiant Bracers, was just about to make a post.
Selected the reward on a heavy class and now the preview always only shows the bracers in a heavy preview window so I can never see it with my light or medium armor.
You want the Fall of ABbaddon go play GW1 Nightfall.
I know all there is to know about the fall of Abbaddon. He was being a kitten, I hit him with my sword over the course of many minutes… He fell.
Down with RNG!
Down with the black lion trading company!
Down with Evon!
Just to be clear, it has been stated directly by the developers now that the Fall of Abaddon refers to the time where he was cast out by the gods and sent to the realm of torment. Now that this has been stated I hope that Gnashblade wins, the fractal has amazing potential.
He isn’t as bad as people are making him seem. I beat him before the nerf and didn’t even realize that I could have used consumables to raise my health. It only took about an hour to beat him. Considering he is easier than that now, it is definitely doable. Just work on your strategy. They all follow a slight pattern of what skills they will use, so you just need to learn how to counter each one. From what I’ve seen on the forums, people seem to just want to use bluff over and over (hence the norn being the one people are complaining about), but mixing in real drinks is a really important part of the game.
Not to mention its only the first few days, they don’t intend for achievements to be done in the first few hours of a patch. Lots of people seem to think as soon as a path comes out they need all the achievements.
So why is it fair that someone will automatically get that? … I for one, will not be happy about that. Because you could apply the same logic to T3 cultural weapons or anything else in the game that has required effort to get (ie. everything).
The only point you make that I agree with is that there is no reason people should have been able to buy legendaries instead of making it themselves.
But you are saying that to you spending 63,000 on a T3 cultural weapon or 400 tokens on a dungeon weapon is the same as acquiring 1 million karma, 500 badges of honor, world completion, 200 skill points, 250+ of every t6 crafting material, 500 globs of ectoplasm, 500 dungeon tokens, and a bunch more. Legendaries are getting upgraded to best in slot for the massive amount of work required to get them, which nothing else requires.
To the OP, no Meteorlogicus still seems to be lacking an update. I’m hoping that and the Minstrel get their updates soon.
So while I don’t disagree with the idea that clover rng is bad design and unnecessary, I feel this math needs to be said. Based on statistics gathered by a very large number of attempts doing this recipe, the return rate was approximated to be very close to 33%. What does that mean in terms of not getting a clover? It says there is a 66% chance you will not get one.
Since you did 90 tries and only got one clover, you are suggesting that you got, at the very minimum, 44 failures in a row. Probably more. The probability of this happening is at most .66 to the 44th power. Better known as .000001%. So please, people, rng can suck but please don’t assert that this particular situation is common. Math has proven the likelyhood of this to be so far under 1% that if all 3 million players tried this exact thing, its unlikely that even 3 people would have this happen.
Edit: To the OP, if this really happened to you I could see why you think they manipulate the odds (for what it is worth, my clovers actually happened more often the second time needing them).
But I see lots of people saying this is normal or basing their assumptions on what is not out of the normal range. Like needing 40 greens for a rare as opposed to the normal 20. Based on the 20% odds to get a rare using greens, getting no rares in 10 attempts has a 10% chance. So getting one rare is clearly not unusual. The original situation, however, is almost impossibly uncommon.

Given the prices of the mini and the Jetpack, I’d say that the drop rate is definitely lower than the 1/50 chance the SAB chests had of dropping the skins.
There are a lot of other factors for price as well though. F&F items pretty much require a 5 person group to obtain, as opposed to the soloable adventure box and it takes triple the time. That means the Molten Facility chest is being opened way less times than the SAB chest was, so there would be a much smaller supply of items even if the drop rate was equal. Also, personally, I find the jetpack far more desirable than any of the Adventure Box skins, which also affects price.
Which leads in to my only complaint, why are the jetpacks rng only? Why could they not go the SAB route and also offer an account bound version for say ten runs through the dungeon? Even ten is pushing it for what most people will do in 12 days, so it would keep it pretty exclusive. The fused gauntlets are awesome, but they aren’t much to show for 4 months worth of living story updates.
I’ve done 4 runs of the Molten Facility so far, and even at the rate of 2 runs per day I’ll probably have no jetpack to show for it, but someone who did it once and got lucky will. I’m not complaining, as I knew full well I’d probably get nothing special from the chest going in, but I wish they complemented RNG with something rewarding those who actually spent lots of time in the new dungeon.
I think this is more about enforcing people to play pvp effectively rather than making it harder. For example, on my mesmer in a standard tournament match I get around 6 captures, 5 or 6 kills, and easily 1 top stat since there’s top stats for almost anything. That’s most of the old daily in about 10 minutes, and facerolling 2 hotjoins would take care of the rest. Three captures as a requirement really underplays the importance of capturing in a match, and a lot of people still don’t get that you can’t win a match if you aren’t controlling points.
The old daily required 3 captures and 3 matches played. That’s like saying, “Ok, just try and accidentally trip into a point once per match.”
The new daily requires (optionally) 10 captures and 4 matches. This is saying you need to average 2.5 captures a match, making a person have to be more active within a match.
.
Tpvp should of been matches played not matches won.
This is something I disagree with because, as i see it, the whole point of making the tournament an optional selection was to keep people who aren’t serious about tournaments out of the queue.
Pvp players who just wanted to finish the old daily would queue for tournaments and then not take them as seriously as someone who plays to be relatively competitive. Now that a win is required the game is forcing you to take tournaments more seriously.
This is weird, this article said:
There are also, of course, lots of unique rewards to the Molten Weapons Facility dungeon.
So far, it doesn’t entirely sound like lots of rewards. I thought I read a comment somewhere that there would be replayability to it too. As someone with 12 characters, one single-use ticket is awfully disappointing, but assuming the gloves are as nice as they sound its at least something new and unique.
Guess we’ll see soon enough.
To be clear, the only reason there should NOT be a warning about buying multiple of the same item and it can’t prevent you from buying duplicates is the fact that it is account bound. The game has no idea which character you are buying the ring for, so how would it know whether its a duplicate or not? And warning boxes are bad enough already. I have to click yes I’m sure 100 times to get 100 icy runestones.
An option needs to be added to disable confirmation boxes, then they can go crazy with warnings without aggravating people who have no need for them
Just opened on Sorrow’s Furnace (NA) recently if anyone needed it.
Honestly, I just do not understand you not understanding. I also do not understand how you can be making 1k+ influence per day with a small 3 member guild.
My guild’s average online per day is between 7-12 members. We average ~500 influence per day whether we are merely doing instances or doing events/dailies. Our playtime is limited to 2-3 hours per day and since fractal participation STILL does not reward influence we have days where we make about 150 influence because our time online is relegated to fractals.
At our average influence levels it would take 73 days to go from AoW0 to AoW5 not to mention the other 30k worth of influence it would take to work towards unlocking the Bounties themselves.
I have zero problem with putting real amounts of influence to access the higher tiers of the content. However Tier 1 bounties should have been within the first 2-3 levels of a section and not Rank 5. They should have cost 5-10k to unlock tier1, and 20k for 2 and 30k for 3. Instead of just 30k for everything.
My girlfriend and I started a 2 person guild a little over a month ago with just us in it to unlock the guild bank for extra storage. We have up to level three research in every category done, an armorsmith, a weaponsmith, guild bank (lowest level), and 8500 spare influence to save up for future needs. Depending how much time we have per day (which is usually under 2 or 3 hours, both being full time undergrads), it is relatively easy to reach at least 800 or 900 influence a day.
Though you did seem to acknowledge your own problem, seeing as you are aware most of your members are doing fractals for essentially 0 influence reward.
Since I see now where else to put this… Anyone able to make them? I am willing switch servers if needed (I am on Stormbluff Isle). I hate to jump around just look at the Trading Post. I am looking for the amulet “The Replicator”, Back “Arbor Embrace”, and Accessory “Operative Creed”.
Thanks, if you also know where to post this that would be great, new to the forums.
I may have misinterpreted what you said so sorry if I did, but just to clarify:
The Trading Post is worldwide, not server based. No matter which server you are on, the items and prices in the trading post will be exactly the same. No need to ever switch servers to look for something there.
He’s not complaining about new content, more that its a specific timing issue? Why is it only 3 days? Why is there a 1-time only chain during the last day? A large portion of the player base will not be able to participate because of other obligations and setting up event schedules like this effectively says “Play the game or miss out.”
For the record, I’m pulling a double shift tomorrow, likely out and about on saturday, and have obligations every sunday. I will miss this sunday’s 1-time only event chain, and any future 1-time only event chains that they decide to have on sunday. I’m going to miss out on this event completely. I’m one example of what the OP is trying to get at.
There has to be a moment they ‘switch on’ the new zone. This can only happen one time. Thus the event is one-time only. I thought this was rather obvious…
have you played the last couple WoW expansions where the zones change as you progress through the quest lines? They could provide something like that for people who miss the event.
I am not a fan of one time events or things like this either. to me it just reminds me of “omfg you have to be online at 7:30 for raid time or you get left out!” things like that are why i dont want to play gear treadmill games, but sigh.
Yes, but how do you change the zone based on quest progression when there is no track-able quest progression in place? I doubt it would be easy to track which dynamic events have been completed by specific players and I don’t think there is coding currently in place to handle this, which only leaves instanced options.
I like the way this is done. Rather than just a new content release with some all-text backstory, they are just adding the backstory into the game. It makes more sense than a new island coming out of nowhere, and it is in no way mandatory for people who can’t make it. Assuming that the special items given are soulbound to the player, this event is largely irrelevant besides being cool to take part in.
It sucks some people have to miss it but that will always be an issue for a game trying to accommodate players worldwide and also wanting to stay persistent rather than instanced.
They did the arbitrary debuff/required dungeon gear thing in LotRo and it was horrible. They eventually removed it due to player outrage.
It’s not a new mechanic. It’s just lazy and annoying.
This is actually derivative of the Guild Wars 1 Spectral Agony hex spell, not something new or copied from elsewhere. The issue is that it seems to have been implemented poorly this time around. In the original GW the monsters who had this skill were key to the story, and progressing far enough into the story got your current armor infused for free so you could finally take down those guys. Had Anet implemented the same type of ‘get far enough get rewarded with infusion slots’ method with the new dungeon, it would have been fine.
Well imagine you dont have a transmute and your never going to buy them off the gem store and you have no idea when youll get one from a chest would you rather be stuck with the stats it gives or would you rather have the cultural armor as a skin that way you could just apply it to armor you already own that benefits you.
Looking at it this way, you better already have a set of exotic armor ready to apply the skin to. Because if you don’t, you will be applying the skin to a sub-par set of armor. If you do that, you’ll be stuck in the same situation as before. Once you get your max armor you now need fine transmutation stones again to add your cultural skin to. This way, you at least have a placeholder set of armor while you get your transmutation materials ready.
I really hope not, I plan to play this event to the fullest, but one time only achievements that no new comers and people who can’t attend will never be able to get again is just silly and discourages players to go for 100% complication overall, I’m hoping Anet will smart about this and implement the “feat of strength” system that wow use to avoid this issue.
In one of the halloween event discussions, a dev commented that the intent is currently that any one time/special event achievements go specifically in the special event section of the achievement bar. Then, every time a new special event comes up, the special event section gets wiped and overwritten with the new event achievements. So you will keep the achievement points and titles you earned from special events, but the progress bars will be gone and replaced by the new ones. Thus, you will not be plagued by achievement bars you can never fill.
On a side note, are you aware that there are some infinite achievement bars that just reset when you complete them? That may get in the way if your desire is a 100% full achievement list.
The killstreak boosters not working is a bug that they’re working on, it’ll be patched soon.
Agreed!
The only time I was ever disappointed by an event of theirs was when they announced they were retiring events for GW1 and using generic quests as a replacement in preparation for GW2.
