Leveling Armorsmithing and hit a snag

in Players Helping Players

Hey so I’m power leveling a craft for the first time and I followed this guide on TenTonHammer and it’s a little out of date.. http://www.tentonhammer.com/guides/basics/guild-wars-2-armorsmith-leveling-guide-0-400

The directions are finely tuned but with Explorer’s not in the game anymore, I’m not sure what to do from 350-400.

Anyone know of other good and up to date crafting guides or tips of what I should do next?? Thanks!

SweetFX Problems..

Yayap.3180

OK, so I had SweetFX going fine until the August patch or whatever it was that made it so that the d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll and injector.ini files needed to be moved to the /bin folder but I still can’t get it to work properly.. I think I have the folder an files in the correct places but it doesn’t toggle on when I’m pressing the Screen Lock button.. I’ve made sure it isn’t the settings file because I use the same files/version it with Elder Scrolls Online and it works perfectly there. I have a GW2 specific preset setting but I also copied the settings I have for ESO and that doesn’t work either. The game launches fine and doesn’t have any errors, it’s just that I guess somethings wrong with where I have my SFX files because that won’t toggle on. And at the very least want to use SMAA. Using SFX version 1.5.1
So I have whole SweetFX folder in the Guild Wars 2 folder where the executable is and I have the d3d9.fx, dxgi.fx shader.fx, sweetFX readme.txt, and the sweetFX Settings.txt files all in there.
And then in the bin folder I have: d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll, and the injector.ini files.
Anyone know what’s wrong?

Help with Ravenous Crew, Guardian

Yeah I am having a really hard time with the crew being a Guardian as well. Most I can kill before they kill me is two, and I go in the recommended order..
I’m mainly defensive build, should I try a straight dps build?
I’ve tried with hammer, gs, and staff and it’s still pretty hard with the condis they put on me..

I would like to join a Tequatl guild -or any PvE boss fighting guild pretty soon as well but I haven’t found any. I’ve been lucky with timing for Tequatl at Black Gate once, around 6PM CST I think, but other than that, I am having trouble finding any definate answers for this type of thing.

Server Time and PvE boss times

in Players Helping Players

Yayap.3180

Hello there, I need some things answered.

First of which is What is Server Time?
I have heard that it is PacificStandardTime, and that would make sense because ANet is based in(or close to) Seattle, Washington. But I have also heard that server time is CentralStandardTime, here in Texas.
It would be nice to know which one it is because I am trying to get into some open world boss fights and when people say to show up on Black Gate(or whatever server) at this time, I am having trouble figuring out what time to show up..

Also, What times and servers are best to show up for Tequatl?
I know people gather around for it in the afternoon and evening, but I’d rather have accurate timing than being lucky..

What are some other bosses and zergs I should know about?

[Note: if this is the wrong sub-forum to post this, I apologize; still pretty new to these forums and what subjects go where]

Hello there, I’ve been playing GW2 on and off for about a year now and I’m really enjoying it. I finally got my main to 80 a couple months ago and I’ve been getting a little into the meat and potatoes of what lvl 80’s can do and be a part of. I am still trying to get better gear and such.
I have heard of this Tequatl fellow and I want to try out a couple raids/zergs to take this boss down. I have also heard that there are guilds around that are specifically there to quickly muster a lot of people to take him down. If that is indeed true, I do want to try to join one of those good boss killing guilds and take part.
Now I haven’t asked much in game and I haven’t seen any posts pertaining to Tequatl specific guilds on the forums here. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are posts about the guilds but I haven’t seen them yet.

If those Tequatl guilds or groups are still around, would someone mind pointing me in the right direction of one of them?

Also, I have heard that Tequatl spawns every two hours; is that every two hours on every server at the same time, or does he only spawn every two hours in one or two different servers?

I have seen people complaining about how Tequatl may not be worth it for the loot and such, but I at least want to take him down once or twice as I have never taken any large boss down in any MMO.

And if there any other large group world bosses that are good to go after, please don’t hesitate to mention them and the possibilities of taking them down!
Thanks!

Some questions about some GW2 data files..

“Since the only files needed to run the game from what you listed are gw2.exe and gw2.dat, you can delete the .tmp (temporary), and .dmp (dump) files. The files may regenerate when the game launches, I forget, but the only files critical to Guild Wars 2 are gw2.exe and gw2.dat. You can delete the corrupted stuff.

Follow this:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Make sure to make a shortcut of the gw2.exe"

OK, good to know.
And yeah, the reason why I couldn’t add -repair at the end of the cmd line before is because I didn’t know that there needed to be a space. The link you provided said that there needed to be a space and it is working now, thank you.

Some questions about some GW2 data files..

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Yayap.3180

Yayap.3180

Hello, this is not a game breaker I don’t think, and the client still seems to be working fine, I just have a few questions about some files in the GW2 folders.

So, in my main Guild Wars 2 game folder I see Crash.dmp, Gw2.dat, Gw2.exe, and Gw2.tmp.

Is the Crash.dmp something I should delete or be concerned about?

Also, in my Documents GW2 folder, there is a file called Corrupt-b41cb9fd.dat and a CorruptArchive file.

Should I be concerned about any of these, or are they required data files for the game to correct itself or something?
I’m just wondering if I should try to verify the client, delete those files, or just leave them alone..

Aslo, I tried the GW2 Repair instructions for Windows that are in the Support but it’s not letting me do step 5. I cannot add -repair to the end of the Target line; it says it son’t find the source or it doesn’t match up, so I can’t repair..

Any explanation or suggestions are helpful, thanks!

GW2 unlikely to get expansions [Interview]

I have a feeling we are going to be seeing more smaller additions of content instead of big expansions with these latest games.
GW2 is doing it pretty well, and I hope ESO and Destiny do thees more constant smaller additions instead of large expansions. GW2, ESO, and Destiny have all said that they want to be more of a constant living world anyways, so I’m cool with it.
Hope everything goes well for each!

Need help with 2 Brisban Wilds Skillpts

Yayap.3180

Yup, I hopped on Tarnished Coast and the gates were actually open!
I finally got those two, thanks very much for the suggestions!
Now to complete each main city..
Also, is there a way to figure out what server has the least amount of latency depending on location and such?
I do have pretty slow internet and it took a bit for it to phase in the people around Lions Arch when in Tarnished coast. I realize the less populated the server, the less latency(probably), but I’m just wondering if I should change worlds or stay in Anvil Rock.

Do play with a "Single player game" attitude?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yayap.3180

Well the first MMO I played was Runescape, and I played that for several years because I didn’t know any better and my parents don’t like WoW. I never found a good group in RS, it’s mainly solo anyways. When I played WoW for a bit it was mainly just with and for my brother, hanging out a bit, but the lvl difference was there and so we didn’t do much anyways. GW2 is my first GW game, and I like it much more than RS and WoW. But I still haven’t found a good guild, nor have other friends who play GW2, so I’m stuck soloing most of the time. It’s not bad, I do like it, but why play an MMO if I’m just going to solo? That’s what Elder Scrolls is for. So I really like the idea of grouping together and making friends and exploring and questing with people, but it’s hard to find fun casual players.. especially in Anvil Rock it seems. I want to join people, but I don’t want to just group with randoms all the time..-Which I don’t really anyways..
So we’ll see, hopefully I can find some fun casual people to guild with soon. My main is 47, so I’m still a newbie with the lore and game updates and such.. But I’m open to learn with some friends.

Hey, can someone please tell me what is going on with the two Skill Point Challenges in the Skrittsburgh Center of Brisban Wilds? They are seemingly unobtainable for me.
I recently went back to the Brisban Wilds to complete the area map there. I am only lvl 47, and I don’t play GW2 very often, so I’m still kinda new the the events and such.
So anyways, I found and completed every part in the Brisban Wilds, except the two challenges in Skrittsburgh Center. I have been trying, and it seems that the only way to get to them is through the gates, which are almost always locked for me, and the two Waypoints around there are constantly under attack. So how am I supposed to get to those to complete them now? Do I just have to get lucky with timing of being there at the right time? Do I need a party of people to defeat the event so the gates in the underground will be open for a bit?
I’m pretty perplexed on why I can’t get to them every time I try now.. is this story based?
Anyways, I hope you can either help answer what’s going on with this or help me in-game, thanks!
I’m on the Anvil Rock server, character name is Thryforn.

Native Mac OSX Client Request

Indeed, I think we who prefer to use the Mac are too undermined and brushed over with this sort of thing.. Especially with an MMO, if you want and need a large player base to stay afloat, then why not allocate some teams to making sure that you can have a native client for the game for every capable OS?
Giuld Wars 2 is my favorite MMO right now, but I think ESO will take my attention more, partly because they will have a dedicated Mac client.
My brother-in-law Just got a late 2012 Mac Mini (i5, Intel HD4000, 8Gigs RAM) and he is really wanting to play GW2 on it because it will run it better than his old 2008 MBP and he can’t put $1,000+ towards a good gaming Windows computer. Another thing is that Apple really needs to put proper video and image processing components in their Mac lines, Because yeah the slim factor is nice, but cutting out dedicated graphics and other components does not add to developer’s reasons of why they should also develop for Mac…

Native Mac clients for PC games are much appreciated and needed.
Heck, Steve Jobs introduced Halo that was going to be for Mac(and after it came out for the Xbox, there was a Mac version made, and I have it)

changed in-game setting to 30Htz refresh rate

Yayap.3180

Hello, when fiddling around with the in-game settings, getting the game to a decent and constant 60FPS, I accidentally changed my refresh rate to 30Hz… And now every time I boot up GW2 past the log in and Play screens my TV/monitor(Samsung SyncMasterP2770HD) doesn’t detect the input, so I have a black screen now..

I am using a GTX 560 and the DVI to this monitor and everything else works fine, but I screwed up the in-game refresh rate and can’t change it back because my monitor can’t be changed to 30Hz(as far as I can tell).
I did some display changes and such in Windows, hoping that would work but it hasn’t.
Is there a way for me to change the settings for GW2 without it being in-game, or do I just need to uninstall and then download and install GW2 again??
I’m usually pretty good at technology and computer settings and such, but I changed the refresh rate from 60Hz to 30Hz and didn’t realize it till it was too late..
Any suggestions?
