I just joined Malum Factum and couldn’t be happier. Great bunch of guys and gals. Everyone has a great sense of humor and they are extremely helpful and sociable. I recommend them highly if you’re looking for an organized guild that is both casual and hardcore friendly.

While your class/build/gear combo may one shot mobs when downscaled, not every class/build/gear will. I think it’s very hard to balance downscaling across all classes, using all builds, and using all gear from white to exotic. I’d far rather have this system that maybe leans toward too gernerous on the downscale, than either too difficult when downscaled or no downscaling.

There you have it. WW is still too hard for a lot of players and frustratingly easy for those who loved the Clocktower.
Which is probably where it ought to be. I can’t do either the Clocktower (along with the other 97%) nor the Wintersday (along with I’ll guess the other 50%). I am ok with that. I do usually get all the other jumping puzzles done as they are not timed. I don’t mind they are hard for many of us as they have extra rewards. I do sort of wish there was an untimed version without rewards, just so I could see the whole thing.

Since the Holiday events give you holiday themed powers and only player skill, not gear or class matters, please allow guilds to form their own teams for Holiday Events. It’s really frustrating to get achievements on PUGs.

I am in the same boat as you but just a lot further along. I have one hero of each class. Four of them at level 80. I still haven’t found one that I love. Oddly, I feel that GW2 has a great game structure, great overall game design, but the classes all have something lacking to me.
Maybe it’s just not finding the right build. Or I need to accept that I will need different classes for different roles (WvW, sPvP, Dungeons, etc). I wish you more luck than I have had. I would suggest trying all 8 classes. Maybe it’s time to give my Necro some more playtime…

Have not played a Necro. Thieves are great at team stealth. and great at rezzing players with Shadow Refuge. They can pretty much spam a blast finisher with Cluster Bomb. With Choking Gas + Cluster Bomb they provide AOE Weakness fields. They have a spamable AOE Blind field with Black Powder that works well on anyone that can be blinded.

I don’t think +100 range on trick shot and choking gas would be worth -200 range on cluster bomb. Unless you’re proposing IA would change as well, which I doubt.
Yes, a flat 1000 range to every shortbow skill (1-5). Or a 10 point trait to take them all to 1200.

I think Hide in Shadows should be a Deception skill and benefit from Master of Deception. In general Guild Wars should have less General Heal/Utility?Elite skills. More skills should fall into one of the skill categories with the 20% recharge reduction trait.
If Thief is to remain a low hit point, medium armor, initiative based burst class, then it has to keep its damage burst. Nearly every other class can spam 10 skills in quick succession. Our initiative limits this so our initial burst has to be high otherwise we are left with just auto attacks.
More underwater skill options. Not just for Thieves. For everyone.

I can see issues with Orr DE farming, though I have not tried that as our AOE is not great, but I have had no issues in PvE or WvW. Fun, effective and most importantly and interesting class. I recently switched to GS+Staff build and while not as “optimized”, I find it more fun and more versitile. GS + Sword/Focus is also really effective esp. when AOE is needed and vs softer targets.

Welcome to rock, paper… You speced entirely into doing condition damage, Guardian into condition removal. Stalemate. You can’t kill him, he can’t kill/find/catch you. Balance!

I have found Mesmers, even at low level, to be very effective in PvE. It’s not Warrior faceroll easy, but easy enough. It’s also much more interesting and fun to play than a Warrior. The only downside I have seen, is rather limited AOE. Though there are AOE abilities, they are just not as easy to use. Great survivability, utility and fun though!
Stack power and shatter use sword/focus and gs and there is plenty of AOE dmg to throw around
I do, but the iWarden can die nearly instantly. I find the iBerzerker can be more reliable for AOE. Sword #2 is great as long as you hit and run. I do with Mind Stab had a larger AOE radius.

Quam, What stats do you go for with that 20-20-0-0-30 build. I really want to try a GS+Staff build but they seem hard to get the stats to work out as you’d want power+precision+condition for offense. Right now I use a power+precision GS/sword+focus build.

As a percentage of players, very few players actually post to forums. Those that do are often making a complaint. Most players who are enjoying the game are playing the game. It’s just human nature. Though I fail at this, my MMO game rule is: Never read the forums.

I think all teleport abilities should just cast at max range if you put the cursor beyond max range. It would make all of them better.

The problem is the camera not the Norn. If the camera would zoom in and spin around, I don’t think the character model size would be an issue.

I think both Engineers and Eles should have out of combat weapon swap minimally. 6 professions get in combat weapon swap plus a profession ability. 2 don’t. Those two don’t really get anything to compensate that. Since you’d have to be out of combat, it’s not a damage upgrade, just a quality of life upgrade.
It’s annoying to be in D/D or S/D in PvE, see a group event nearby and always have to go to my bag to find my staff. Yes I know it saves me like 3 seconds or so so it’s not a big deal. So it’s NOT a big change. Just make it ANet!

I’d like it as a 10 point Air trait. It gives the 50% fall damage reduction plus updraft with 5 seconds of swiftness. Or a 10 point Earth trait that adds a bleed/cripple to the damage reduction. Or a 10 point water trait that adds a AOE heal+condition removal to the damage reduction. Or… you get the idea. Lots of ways to do this. Stupid oversight to not have this trait. Especially on a low hit point profession.
In general Ele’s traits seem to be lacking and not very synergistic. The 20 point skill recharge reduction traits should also have a secondary effect like the other professions get.

I think a AOE combo field staff build would work well as long as the Mesmer can keep the mobs focused on her clones and phantasms. I find staff hard to play in PvE if I get directly targeted a lot. But it’s great as long as the mobs are busy fighting other things. I prefer staff for team support but tend to use scepter/dagger if I am going to get much aggro.

I like the trait with the Dagger auto attack poison + the 3 seconds weakness on poison effect. Easy to perma weakness with the Dagger.

Yes. I always have fun in WvW regardless of the situation on the map. There is always something to do, battles to be fought. Server rankings don’t matter to me. I play to have fun and have fun playing.

I think waypoints in a zone should be free once you have 100% completed that zone. It would give players another incentive to completely finish all of the exploration, skill, and yellow heart objectives.

The only mount I’d ever agree on is a Charr mount for the Asura… Sadly I think the Charr community would not enjoy being ridden on…
I’d support Asurans riding fellow Charr players. No unbalancing speed increase that way. And Asurans should not have to walk. They need to spend more time thinking up more awesome stuff. For that matter let Asuarans ride all the other races. They are small enough, and it’s a good use for the other races. Makes them feel needed.

I won’t play any MMO without some form or downleveling/exemplaring. I want to play with my lower level pals and play for real. Not run around tanking entire dungeons because I brought my max level hero. If all the extra traits, utility and elite skill unlocks and gear bonuses you have are not enough to make you feel aweome/special/advanced, then I’d suggest the fault is not the game but the outlook of the player.
I play to have fun with friends not play to have better gear/stats/whatever. Those just come along for the ride.
