Imo Quaggan are the Jar-Jar Binks of the GW universe.
Cmon. Quaggans don’t destroy the whole game just by being there.
In fact, they are much more interesting than most other races in Tyria. I’ll put them in the same level as humans: Annoying, funny, a little unnecessary, but overall good to have.
They do. The moment I heard those dopey voices and saw those beach balls in LS was the moment I noped out. I haven’t even bothered with the map since. It breaks the game for me (and others that I know).
Sometimes, I start quaggan escort events and hang back to let them die to the Krait. It’s my only consolation.
The key to liking quaggan is to dip them in butter.
#toserveman
I like where you’re going. Maybe a nice Chardonnay too? Some candles would be nice. Mah lady frand would love all of that. Thanks for the tip.
I know there’s a lot of love for the blubber balls, but I can’t stand them. I know I’m not the only one. Gimme some validation please.
I’m not gonna lie. I’m a little sad at this point. I’ve been on GW2 since 2013, and I’ve seen many guild break or simply dissolve. This last one has hit me kind of hard, but I’ll keep on playing.
I’m hardcore/casual. I’ve been playing for a while and know my main prof (scapper/engi) pretty kitten well. I’ve done all the others through 80 and a few through the elite specs (the grind drags me down). I can hold my own as a ele/tempest. Honestly, give me a week, and I can pick up any of the others…. I’ll always go back to engi though.
I’m primarily on during late EU/early NA. I’ve moved to almost exclusively weekends, but I could see getting energized for the right group. I’m mainly PVP with a little WVE and PVE/Raids only if needed. I’m currently on CD but am open to moving to any EU/NA server for the right guild. Please hit me up in game if interested.

@Barricka, thanks for trying to keep the conversation civil. Some previous posts were clearly in violation of the forum Code of Conduct and do not belong in civil conversation.
To address yours (and to some limited sense DJ’s post), the current way mergers links are being handled cannot be said to align to the Devona’s Rest community play style. I was on DR for the first two years of the game and always enjoyed playing with all of you, and I think that what you guys are experience now is a culture shock… a blob (throughout most of the week) on DR would barely draw orange swords and a group >5 wasn’t really considered roamers.
The higher tiers are much faster pace, and the groups are much larger. There’s very little you can do against a server blob. You can delay the inevitable by siege disablers, shield generators, and inventive anti-siege siege placement. However, the numbers drawn can often be too much.
All of that being said, there’s some definite hype going on this week. I’m personally hoping that things cool down during the week and maybe normalize next week or the week after. At that point, the more traditional DR tactics may be realized in the DBLs. Until then, I would suggest that you save your siege, try some more aggressive tactics, and only play defensively when the opportunity is just right.
In a few weeks, we’ll all have a better idea when everything normalizes, and I sincerely believe and hope that DR does not have to abandon their play style once that happens. I think that the DR ethos can live in the DBLs, but it’s going to be much harder to maintain than it was in Bronze. If that’s not the case, this is a Beta, and I’m sure that we’ll all have an opportunity to weigh in (however much that matters is another question).
To the server identity concern, I couldn’t agree more. It’s pretty ridiculous what they did to the mergered linked servers in terms of how they’re identified and how their contribution counts toward their home server.
TL;DR: Wait for the hype to die, and you may find that DR’s play style has a place in this tier.
People may finally be warming to them. Also, Friday reset helps.
but it’s pretty clear most people didn’t and still don’t. Let’s be honest; the control of Borderlands determines PPT. However, no one wants to step foot in the DBLs. There’s verticality, choke points, and a whole host of other things, but all my mates want to do is go to EBG (“where the fights are”). I think verticality, choke points, et al are still valid, but that everyone (that I know) feels like the DBLs are just way too big, falling to death is no fun, and long runs don’t help either.
Maybe it’s a matter of population (10-15 could flip an entire Alpine BL without resistance in less than an hour). Maybe it’s a matter of commitment (no one is willing to spend the time in an essentially PVE zone)> I don’t know.
However, I do know that I log for this massive PVP experience. As a semi-hardcore, it’s what keeps me around. That being said, I’ve gone from daily logging to weekly logging. If I do anything more, it’s for my guildies to mine my home instance to get PVE stuff that leads to a WVW buff.
My recalcitrance to daily log as a three year plus player combined with my guild’s search for outside entertainment is telling about how far this game mode has fallen.
1.) Guild WVW upgrades should be tied to WVW and not PVE (how many times can this be said?)
2.) Fights should weigh heavier in scoring than passive PPT. I.e. PPK is good. Point per Capture could be better if Karma training was not an incentive/outcome.
3.) Rewards. I don’t want to step out of WVW to make gold. WVW should be just as profitable and give just the same high level tier rewards as fracs, dungeons, raids, pvp rewards tracks (WVW reward tracks… there’s an idea!), et al.
4.) PERFORMACE. Please optimize WVW. I’m tired of lag fest. My guild is tired of lag fest. WVW is tired of lag fest.
5.) Gilding, no gliding. I can go either way. I favor gliding for new combat dimensions and to make the DBLs interesting. However, I understand that EBG and the Alpines wouldn’t fit the gliding mold as well. Nonetheless, PVP combat needs to be spiced up in WVW.
If the problem persists, try to change the clientport. GW2 uses the game port (6112 or something like that) as a default. Changing to 80 (regular internet) or 443 (secure server internet) may help…. it helped me when my ISP started throttling the game port Just add -clientport:80 to the end of your shortcut. It should look something like this: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -clientport:80
One of our fun forum games is to post toons in locations in the regular world or guild hall and have people repost an image of their toon in the location. Would it be possible to implement an small chest (limit on what funds/items can be deposited… i.e. 1g or less) at these locations. This would also provide a nice incentive to guild hall jumping puzzle builders.
To prevent fraud, make them a purchasable item and only allow 1 within an area.
Theres gonna be issues where people can glide into towers,i think thats the main reason for them not implementing it yet.
One option: player purchased air defense artillery siege. This would also be fun to setup below cliffs and watch people fall to their deaths.
Another option: npcs that can shoot you out of the air in strategic locations…. I think some npcs can already do this in the xpac, no?
yes. /15 Asuras
If the complaints were reasonable, this might work. Instead, people are using hyperbolic statements that are easy to ignore due to being demonstrably untrue.
For example, people say that yaks don’t matter anymore. The truth is that yaks make upgrades go 3x faster. Thus, the real complaint, that yaks are no longer essential, goes unheard. Instead, the speaker just looks like an idiot and gets brushed off.
For a real-world example, look up the student protests in France circa 1970. There was a ton of hullabaloo and they accomplished just about nothing because they were brushed off as not to be taken seriously.
We need less shouting and more calm, nuanced analysis. Less protesting and more willingness to try adjusting and report what things are difficult to swallow.
This. And yet again, I think the issue is that ppl logged to the new BLs, played for 10 mins, and then just went crazy that it wasn’t exactly the same.
While you all are all standing around I’ll hopefully be taking your stuff.
The new maps aren’t bad; learn them.
Did you guys move off DR?
We’re PVX and still have a few on DR, but the “core” wvw team is on BP for now. See you in the Mists!
While you all are all standing around I’ll hopefully be taking your stuff.

Bump, and same here. You supposedly get a few from the story, but finding these things in world is painful. It’d be nice to get a slightly increased drop rate on this account bound, non-vendorable item.
Phoenix Rises from the Ashes is a semi-casual guild with officers focused on each game mode (PVE, PVP, & WVW). We have daily/weekly events doing fractals, dungeons, WVW havoc teams, PVP guild teams, (soon) raids, and much more!
We ask that members be 18+ (our chat channel and TS can run amok) but can make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
Teamspeak is not required but highly encouraged for guild missions, pvp, and raids.
We consider partial subsidies for loyal members wishing to transfer to Borlis Pass on a case-by-case basis.
Message me (Koffix) in game for more information or if you have questions!
This game will never go esports.
When we think pvp we think Player vs player
When arena net thinks pvp they think passive vs passiveKeyboard turner’s are there target audience, There just going to keep increasing CC, AOE, Passive defenses, Offensive passives, and anything else that doesn’t involve an ouch of brainpower. this game will never be anything more then a filler at this point.
Once you realize that, this game becomes hilarious. Enjoy the ride down i know i am.
I started warrior; so I know what Passive Wars 2 is (shoutbow anyone?). However, many changes have been made. GW2 was not set up with eSports in mind, but I find your lack of faith appalling.
Just play stronghold. More fun than fighting over circles IMO.
+1. I only go Conquest now for dailies. Being able to “fight off point” makes Stronghold well worth the PVE stuff (that’s already in Conquest).

honestly your only valid argument here would be the traps sucking one
the rest are all incorrect even the heavy armor one due to guardian having the same hp as thief if guard runs berserkand no vit traits
Even the trap one is kind of kitten. The DH traps are from an elite spec. I still like my teef, and my guildies never mind me running it in any game mode. Maybe that’s the key… knowing your place in your team whether it’s “optimal” or not.
Gliders in EotM and the new DBL would be awesome (not EBG the map isn’t made for it). It would add a very interesting aspect to roaming (I have to look up now too) as well as to zerging.
Unranked arena is not blocked by rank. The conquest game mode is. You cannot queue with someone in your party who does not meet the rank requirements.
So no guild merits for guildies with less than rank 10… got it. Not gonna Q.Q; this will all be resolved next week when no one chooses the PVP guild missions.
Edit: when my guild doesn’t choose PVP guild missions.

LOL, you guys logged in and thought WVW would be full…. the internet has such funny ppl.
Srsly, everyone is getting mastery points in PVE to max out elite specs. Maybe you should get with your guildies and do some of that too?
How about this… complain about population issues a week from now when all of the new PVE stuff isn’t so shiny?
I think that this has gone 5 pages with no dev response says something – no change. Frankly, I’m glad. This thief build is a one trick pony (much like a distracting strikes warrior or der… perplexity engi). It’s a little l2p and a little wait it out. These sort of builds are intrinsically boring, and people will tire of them quickly.
Can I have your stuff? Srsly, GL on your future endeavors. When you come back, we’ll see you in the Mists!
So do Mistwrought Vaults now?
I was just thinking about a build using evasion runes, meat and truffle stew, and the daredevil line with all of the extra tricks and weapon skills… smh, it could work by George!
I just wanted to say warhorn…. main hand warhorn.
You don’t. That’s a good way to run them out of WVW. What you want to do is have “fun runs” where your entire guild uses a single profession. This will show them the basic mechanics of said profession and may even make them interested in picking it up in the next serious event. We recently did one called “Perma-Moist” where just about everyone was running a staff ele… people enjoyed it, and even a few said they might consider using a staff ele in the future.
I guess you guys are having fun in this clusterkitten.
Those new buffed golems are not too numerous and OP right? : )I bet the fights are really fun and not one-sided where you are.
Off topic. This topic thread was not about the golem rush event. Please stay on topic.
Sadly it’s kittenes like yourself that made wvw the vacuum it is today.
Ad hominem. Attacking me does not prove your point and is furthermore a violation of the forum Code of Conduct. If you feel that I have personally maligned you, my in game info is to the left, please contact me and we can have a few PVP bouts to hash things out… you’ll likely win as I’m pretty terrible and immediately put most of my skills on cd.
Go live in your fantasy world with speed boosted jetpack golems and let us hope you’re never on the receiving end of your ignorant logic.
Hopefully the fantasy will come true. The second suggestion of a “golem tab” on the hero menu is quite intriguing and would provide for some fun end game content for which we could all strive… it would also be WVW specific and may draw some people in.
[Golems] break the whole balance of wvw by being too easy to make and too powerful (even without the mastery)
Balance? This guy has jokes. WVW by its very nature cannot be balanced.
BTW, it’s not that hard to kill golems. Just don’t try to run up and AA melee it…
You seem to not understand the difference between the words “Fair” and “Balanced”
Let me help ya:
>Fair: free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice: a fair decision; a fair judge.
>Balanced:[MASS NOUN] A situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions: the obligations of political balance in broadcastingWvW and any pvp gamemode will NEVER be fair because it is the whole point of it(tipping scales in your favor). However it needs to be balanced if it is to remain fun for everyone.
And so my comment on golems.
First, you’re on Underworld. WVW will never be fun.
Second, you’re arguing semantics… fine, we can do that. The definition of “balanced” also provides for something “to be stable.” By this equally applicable definition of “balanced,” WVW is balanced in that Underworld’s rank volatility is next to nil, but back to golems…
According to your definition of “balance,” golems as a siege weapon are balanced. Can an opposing server build more golems than you? Given local available resources, yes, but there is a siege cap. So, we are balanced in the maximum number of golems we can build. However, I suppose the count of golems is not your balance problem.
From reading your post, it seems that you have a problem with how quickly golems can take a defended tower. To this I would advise that you reevaluate your problem. If you’re severely overmatched in numbers, then the golems don’t even matter. If you’re equally our closely matched, then golems should be no more of a nuisance than any other siege machine.

Night capping and population problems can be taken care of somewhat by a PPK / PPF (point per flip) system. Add in a bonus for taking an upgraded item.
Holding something over time already gives the huge advantage of upgrades; it should not also reward points just for holding it on an empty map.
I kind of like this idea. The only problem I could foresee would be that it would lead to a K-Train mentality. Why defend? Let them cap, and we cap back. No loss, just points exchanged. I think it would have to be combined with PPT… Let something generate PPT for “x” turns then it rolls to a point neutral state for the owning team.
I’d love to be able to add a personal shield or banner to the guild hall. You know like shields hanging in a Viking longhouse or the banners hanging in a king’s throne room. It’d be an interesting addition and personal twist.
Guildies could go through and select the banners to view the character’s guild rank, guild life (how long they were in the guild), merits earned, etc. It would guarantee that people who left, quit, or were lost to RL (death, work, etc) were remembered for their deeds.

Maybe OP is playing a condi spec/class that isn’t bonkers right now. Not everyone can be a burn guard.
I could go burn, but when it gets nerfed I’ll end up like the Irish – potato, I mean condi starved. Condi did get some nice buffs, but it still has a long way to go to stack up to traditional dps. I’d just like to see all condi specs (not just the burn ones) become viable. I think that upping the base condi damage to 1k would do that….
And break the game eve further, no thanks.
How would it break the game? Elucidate.

Not sure if troll or fool…
I guess I’m a fool. Share your secrets and educate me. Seriously, go ahead. Show me the math that says that non-burn condi dps is equivalent to its counterpart.
(edited by abclemons.7093)
I’d actually like condi damge to get a buff. I get 0 base condi damage and 1k base (regular) damage; ideally, the two would be equal. Otherwise, condi always plays second fiddle.
Power is 1k base. Make Condi Damage the same please. I go “all in” with condi damage and can get nowhere close to the levels of damage from power. In order for condi builds to become truly viable, they need to be put on the same playing field.
Nice montage, SpellOfIniquity.1780. I saw a ton of clothies go down, and a good many of those were in various stages of depleted health. Very few were truly one-shot. I really wish people would keep up combat log when they record.
I’m glad the bug was fixed. I don’t really run my engi in wvw, but when I do I’ll be running a perplexity condi cancer interrupt build… so that’ll be fun for everyone, and it’s also what Anet wants. Everyone wins.
if u want balanced pvp go spvp
bwhahahahaha. nice. i really like that joke.
Get ready for moar. With the grenade barrage “fix,” you’re gonna see more engi condi cancer. Personally, I’m gonna break out an old kitten lexity build and just go to town.
smh. condi cancer it is then.
have you dueled a burning guard as a rampage?..
try it
or even a semi ok ele.
I’ve seen Phanta dying to Rampage.
I guess hes a bit better than ‘semi ok ele’, but I may be wrong.phanta literally died to all the thing in the game over 1000 times, does that mean everything should be nerfed to oblivion? the argument is real…
If something can be I win button vs one the best Eles in the game, then for sure it requires some changes. Also no idea why people consider adjusting same as nerfing to oblivion…
You’re right. The ele should always win; you’ve swayed us all.
Doge: Much balanced many wow
Was they afk or something?
What this guy said.
I think the reason this won’t happen is because it doesn’t really effect the score. SymA was being used as a zerg exploit to cap. In order for GB to be placed in the same league, you’d have to get engi zergs running around and show that they could cap a fortified tower in no time by use of grenade barrage.
Incorrect, with borderlands bloodlust, each stomp is worth 1 point. Sure, in the long run, 1 point isn’t that important. We’ll see tonight when Maguuma does our Engineer blob how fast that OP grenade barrage can take down gates then maybe Anet will fix it too.
My server does fun-run profession zergs once a month. We did engi a few months back and still rofl stomped anything we ran across – supply crate + nades = insta-ded. Surprisingly, we still used siege against reinforced doors; we couldn’t burst those down quick enough.
Please post the footage when you’ve got it on Youtube, or if you stream, please link. I’d like to watch in.
With certain game mouses you can easily macro a button to do barrage and then another set of grenades. While it isn’t quite a one shot, the timing between hits is so slim a person could not react in time. This gives extra damage and you can even macro multiple sets of grenades with the barrage. In the span of a second you can macro a barrage +6 grenades and since it is, essentially, an insta-hit the person doesn’t have time to react. ***Edit*** I should have mentioned it is very unlikely you would be hit by every single one of those. I guess it is possible, but highly unlikely.
Personally, I could care less at this point. There have always been skills/traits that were way overpowered while others were never used, or only used by people not yet 80. I don’t expect them to fix much and I expect half of the fixes to screw other things up.
Macros (other than for instruments) are banded by ANet. If you suspect someone of using macro’d nades, please report.
I agree with caring less. People are used to getting insta-ganked by teefs. It’s the novelty of an engineer doing it right now. People will eventually get used to this too.
