Been kicked/DC’d a lot in the last 3 or so hours, now cant even log back in. Loading screens have been freezing/perma-loading a lot too. Gandara/EU

Nice thanks for the replies, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope :-)

If ever (I’m really really hoping it will) the return of the Zodiac (or other removed ones) armour sets ever happen? An unpopular set quite possibly but I missed getting a set when they were there. Unlikely I know but hoping for a red post answer.
– Jake Chambers.
The mail, as far as I know, is ANets way of explaining that the titles from HoM that were INCORRECTLY awarded to a lot of people in a kind of lore-friendly way. Demanding compensation for this is daft and nonsensical.

I’m certain, in the back of my mind somewhere that there is another stone/surface either in GW1 or 2 that looks like this, I just can’t for the life of me think where it is (or, quite possibly, where I’m mis-remembering having seen something like it before). But the markings/carving on the stone really ring a bell in the back of mind mind that I’ve seen it before. Initially, I thought the markings were the same as the floor where we fought the Lich in Hells precipice, but upon checking for myself I was mistaken. But I will continue racking my brain, or I’ll lose sleep lol.

Is there a chance Anise could be a Sylvari mesmer perhaps? (VERY long shot I know, but) Anise is also another name for Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum of the Apiaceae family). Obvious vegitation link there, so it does make me wonder (in a tin-foil hat kind of way). There is also Star Anise (Illicium verum) produced from an evergreen tree which has medicinal uses, which could possibly be a hint that Anise herself is in some way a healer/apothecary using natural methods. I’ll remove my tin-foil hat now.

I’m with you OP in the sense of other mining tools should have the same or different bonus item chances when mining, but, personally, it’s only because I want to buy another tool for my alt main. However I don’t like the look of the Watchwork tool, and won’t buy it JUST for the bonus item, but can’t shake the fact that buying any other one is kind of self defeating (even though it’s a small bonus, a bonus is a bonus, right?). I’m not complaining or saying the Watchwork one is a problem at all, but it IS enough to influence my buying of an additional tool.

As far as I remember, the stats for Mawdrey can only be selected the first time you equip it, that decision is final and can’t be changed.

Issue still on-going with a variety of maps, same server IP though, got a character stuck in a loop between LA and Southsun :/
– Jake Chambers.
It resolved itself for me after about 10 mins, but now getting it trying to enter the labyrinth on a different character.

I have this issue with a character in Dry Top, started about 10 mins ago. White screen then network error message, but other characters not in DT load :-/
– Jake Chambers.
I have a character in Dry Top, but am unable to load in on it at all, I get a white screen, the an error message saying networking issues. But, thats not the cause as my other chars load that arent in DT. Is this a known issue recently?

I’ve not read this whole thread so forgive me if this is answered elsewhere. I want to ask a few questions.
1. Is the loot system currently set up so people who play less are more likely to get an awesome RNG drop? There have been numerous posts like, “my friend logged on after 5 months and got X, Y, Z drop while I’ve been playing every day and got nothing!” I want to know if the way it works currently is that those who play lots get decreasing loot in proportion to playtime. Why would ANET do this? To keep people chasing the carrot.
John answered that question in a different thread, there arent any account modifiers.
what he is speaking of wouldnt be an account modifier, and it probably does exist, mildy. There is Diminishing returns on drops and it decays pretty slowly. You will in fact see more drops in your first few hours after not having played for awhile.
They will never tell us exactly what is happening, but your friend who plays rarely will basically have no DR for almost all of their playtime.
Still catching up, but I wanted to stop to be clear. No to this. This doesn’t happen, it’s a cognitive bias. There’s virtually no DR active on any given day.
Hi John, I just want to add to this if I may. I have 2 accounts, my main acc I play pretty much exclusively and v rarely on my alt.
On my main account, i can spend 5 hrs plus+ pretty much every evening playing every different aspect of the game throughout an evening yet I rarely see an exotic drop more than once in a 3 week period. I can spend a full 3 hours in EotM match playing and see maybe 1 or 2 rares on a good run drop wise.
Last night, for a change, I took one of my L80 alt account characters into EotM , within 2 hours of play I had 13/14 rares drop.
Something here is certainly not adding up. My main account has a LOT more base MF and I use MF food/boosters and birthday boosters too with the same poor drop rate, yet on my alt account i had just a b-day booster active and saw this HUGE difference in drop quality.
It seriously makes me think either A) Some accounts are just luckier than others from a non-user influenced factor, or B ) The longer time an account is not used it has some kind of hidden buff/boost to drop rates.
I have tried this a few times with my two accounts, and nearly always see the same difference. Something certainly isn’t quite right here.

I was doing the same Gambit, but I got to the point where it felt like I was getting no real tangible reward for doing the dry top events so i went through the chests for my blue/green items. Got a few rares and a couple of scarfs and such also from the locked chests themselves, but its very lackluster reward wise for the effort put in. I feel your pain :-)
– Jake Chambers.
As reminder:
This is a Fossil of choice.
You choose which one you want, so you can work both on pvp track one and on buried lockboxes in Dry Top.So thanks to this, you nullify the possibility of repetitive fossil coming up.
Ah ok nice, thanks for the info, having done literally 0 PVP I wasn’t aware of this, I will look into it when I get home from work and online tonight, cheers :-)
– Jake Chambers.
Ah ok Tao thanks, I may look into it and give it a go. Half my prob is I have zero competitiveness in me, I dont get any joy from winning matches like this so the pull to PVP for me has been pretty much non-existant. But I will give it a look tonight and see how i fare (prepares to get butchered lol). If any of you guys need easy kills in PVP tonight, you know where I’ll be :-D
– Jake Chambers.
I had wondered about the PVP method, but, I wasnt sure how to go about opening the relevant reward track. I’ve been playing since betas/headstarts, and have literally spent about 10 mins doing PVP, so this probably wouldnt be a very effective method for me as I have zero experience in PVP and will just spend all my time dead on the floor frustrated. But, if it continues as it is, I may have to try it anyway, reluctantly.

I agree with you Valandil Dragonhart, I found some before the collection update, not loads but enough to keep the impetus up for going for the full set, but since the collections were added in the ‘feature patch’ they’ve become rarer than hens teeth. Getting so annoyed about something which is, as far as we know totally random. Its beginning to wear thin on me :-/ /tears :P
– Jake Chambers.
Hi all. I just wondered if anyone else is having the same issue I’m having. I’ve not read of a nerf to the drop rate of these but after using 90+ lockpicks and not seeing one for so kitten long now, I beginning to wonder wth is going on. This is seriously frustrating. I’m not being entitled or anything, and am expecting only replies of " RNG is RNG blah blah". But was really just curious if anyone else was having the same issue.
Thanks in advance for reading.

Goal of Proposal -
Guild halls for guild only meetings/gatherings, but have the option to invite non-guild members to join (similar to the GW1 method of temporary invites). Places for player housing (I would like this to be in a public place so everyone can view every players home, but I’m sure technically this would be near impossible).
Functionality -
1) Don’t make it so the GH’s replace the need for towns, so limit the available amenities that can be added.
2) If player housing were to be introduced, give players the choice of the style. Be they limited to one set build for each race or from a selection of. Or ideally, though again probably not feasible, a similar method of Wildstar housing as personally I REALLY like the (dare i say it) Sims style house building.
3) GH’s could be in a set portion of the Mists where you can see (default) GH’s in the backgrounds floating in their own spaces (if that makes sense lol).
That’s my 2 cents worth. I’d really love the addition of player housing as it would give something non-essential to work on, that would offer no real benefits to players to make having one unfair to those who don’t for whatever reason.
(Condolences also on your loss Chris, it’s a very sad time when a household pet passes away, I can relate to the issue personally).
– Jake Chambers.
Personally speaking, I think raids would be an awesome addition to the game, larger/longer dungeon ‘type’ affairs with new mechanics and enemies would be most welcome.
Something I feel would make them fit well into the game as it is, is to have them be connected to older lore from GW1 for example. They could be done in the same essence as fractals – a kind of time warp scenario where we revisit things done in Tyrian history (Tombs/UW/FoW/Urgoz/The Deep).
Also, having discussed a few random things with friends, the floating castle in Kessex, which we know holds a special place in a lot of GW1 vererans hearts could be a raid area, multiple paths/instances to clear the castle or somesuch.
Theres so much potential lore wise for things like this as well as new content related to GW2 lore itself. Rewards for them could be something as simple as (account bound skins from GW1 as a testiment to the history and a head nod to older long standing players).
I don’t want to soil this post by mentioning a certain other popular game that has many raids in it, but they did get a lot right with that system, the only thing i feel that would have to try and be avoided some how would be the utterly awful elitism that it can lead to.
I know this isn’t a concrete promise raid content will ever come to GW2, but it’s at least a promising prospect that wants of players are at least being scouted for possible ways to further the games content levels.
– Jake Chambers.
I feel like I’ve spent more times in the forums with problems lately than playing the kitten game. I also have this error of no large chest spawning, or the daily small chest above the mini map popping up on kill. All had been fine until yesterday when a mate told me he had this error for a few days, lo and behold, first try after being told, I get it also.
– Jake Chambers.
Yet again, the lag is utterly running rampant. Cursed Shore (Gandara EU home server), just mapping, not doing event, have been getting huge lag spikes all day, 3 DC’s within 2 minutes after 10/15 second freezes/non-reaction. Nothing else is having this issue in the house, I have tried all other internet using items (xbox, laptop, kindle) and all are running as they should so this is certainly a server side issue. It has reached a point that the game is actually more hassle than fun to play and I really want to just call it quits and give up. I have had no error reports that i can post here (not that I know where the error logs go, I can never find them). I spoke in map chat, and it’s not a local issue, UK for me, others from Denmark, Sweden and South Africa all said they were having the same issue. PLEASE, give us some kind of update on if its an issue that is being worked on, or am I to just assume this is going to be ignored as not every single player is suffering? This has been ongoing since mainly the last feature pack for me, I did actually wonder if it had something to do with extra server strain for all the extra mini’s being rendered now or something along those lines, but I know very little about this kind of thing so is purely speculation on my part.
– Jake Chambers.
I know there have been a million and one posts about this, so this will be one million and 2. Since the last 2/3 updates I have been suffering constant random DC’s/kicks to the character select screen for no apparent reason. I get no error log I can post here for additional info but it is totally beyond a joke, as I know others have been having this issue much longer than I myself have. I got kicked from Teq last night at the start of the DPS phase, then, not surprisingly, couldn’t rejoin and could only get into empty overflows. Which, after queueing for over an hour is a massive waste of time. Then, this evening, literally THREE minutes after logging in, kicked to character select yet again. I’m on the verge of giving up now, the most complex thing I can do in game for fear of being kicked and losing my spot somewhere is node running, and that’s not gaming, that’s killing time I, as well as many others, could spend FAR more wisely. Please fix the issue and not just sweep the many reports of this issue under the carpet.
– Jake Chambers.
I’m not a very vocal lurker here but I often visit to read. But having said that this upcoming batch of ‘improvements’ (sarcasm) seems the polar opposite of making things more player friendly. I, like MANY others here have been playing since the Beta’s and at no point was I confronted with a problem so difficult I thought they needed to rework all traits/levelling systems. This really doesn’t make any sense to me and I know I am far from alone on this. Bluntly, to me it looks like these changes have all been decided by someone who hasn’t ever actually played the game.
– Jake Chambers.
The constant crippling lag is now becoming an utter joke . Im not even in an intense area of activity, running around maps harvesting and such, with constant 4/5+ second total freezes of any input i can do, has been going on for well over a week now. When will something be done about it? ive checked EVERY factor under my control at my end and nothing here is faulty or disruptive in ANY way :/
– Jake Chambers.
Nope, afraid not, to craft Twilight you MUST have Dusk or you can’t do it, sorry!
– Jake Chambers.
@ Thalador. Oddly, I had a very similar theory to this and it got me thinking about a lot of other things that initially seemed insignificant. I wonder, will part of the LS mean going back to Orr, and turning the stone structures into a giant cannon aimed at Mordremoth for us to spam 1 on and whoop his scaly kitten
– Jake Chambers.
I have to agree that this is such a fun piece of new content. LW-S2 EP’s 1&2 have both been great fun, kudos to you guys at ANet. You took the criticism (a lot of it very heavy handed IMO) from LW-S1, acted upon it and seem to have hit the nail on the head with the way things are looking to progress story wise.
It’s not very often I look forward to a Tuesday on a Saturday, but I most certainly was last weekend, and now I can say, rightly so! Great job :-) .
– Jake Chambers.
I totally get what you mean regarding it having an effect on the visable population of towns, so it would be good for them (devs) to not put ALL town amenities in the home instance. Maybe a bank/chest (gem store items or some-such), just for ease of use and to make such a home feel like a home, if that makes sense.
– Jake Chambers.
I’m glad to see this has sparked a bit of debate, if nothing else it’s pleasing to see I’m not the only one who would still like this to be added. Still no official word, though I wasn’t really holding out a lot of hope for an official reply, but you never know.
– Jake Chambers.
‘Waste of time’ is a personal definition surely. I know other games have it funnily enough, but I was asking about this game, as it has been long rumoured.
– Jake Chambers.
Hi all, I have been keeping an eye on all dev posts and such, but have yet to see anything concrete in either a positive or negative stance on player housing. I know its been discussed fairly frequently but nothing official has been said that I have found.
IS there an official stance on this at all? Personally, I would love the addition of this, and I know there are others who also would enjoy it, though no idea on numbers, which may be why nothing has been stated. The personal home instance could make use of this as an addition, and seeing how Wildstar implemented this so well, I hold out a little hope still.
So, in short, IS this something that’s being considered in any way for the future? Thanks in advance.
– Jake Chambers.
Same issue, cannot buy via credit card or Paypal. EU if it helps. (paypal option doesnt redirect to paypal site when it should).
– Jake Chambers.
Ah ok thanks, i wasn’t sure where to post this really and I know the search function on here is notorious lol. Thanks.
– Jake Chambers.
Hi, I’ve tried multiple times this evening to purchase gems. I’ve tried both Paypal (which I have used before with no issues at all) and my credit card, and neither option allows me to purchase, the paypal option for payment doesn’t even redirect to my browser anymore (Chrome, if it makes a difference, but has always been so in the past also). (Funds are in the account/s, so this is not the issue). Is there a known bug/issue at the moment? Thanks in advance.

Funny you say this we where discussing this last night on TS, surely after that drill dug down so far, got to its target then seemed to explode somewhat, the water level in the Bay around LA would drop some.
Depends how deep the hole is and whether the leyline ‘magic’ flow or whatever it actually is, is a physical substance. If it is, it may well be enough to keep water out of whatever channel it flows through, it may spill out and pollute everything near by or it could simply become inert when it comes into contact with air/water, as I highly doubt the flow will just stop again. Whichever way it goes, it could be heading to a scenario we have yet to even wildly guess at.

Just a thought, but given the HUGE explosion at the end of the story cutscene at the end of the battle, I’m going to assume that L.A. has been flattened further, given the look of the concussive blast from the breach. Now, I’m wondering if L.A. IS to be rebuilt, could this be a way to add player housing to the game? I really hope so as this QoL addition, for me, would be quite a big (though unimportant in the grand scheme of things) thing for me. I enjoyed the content overall was good fun and I look forward to doing it again once the drudgery of work is done for the day. Props to you ANet! Many thanks for a year of fun, and heres to MANY more.
– Jake Chambers.
I might just be chasing shadows here but Taimi seems a like it could be a little bit of wordplay/tomfoolery Timey? Longshot of course, but its fun to speculate
.
– Jake Chambers.
Ok, well here’s my shot at a bit of wild speculation. The seed Scarlet gave to the Krait to grow, could this possibly be a Pale Tree (or variant of) seed, as there were said to be more IIRC. Could Scarlet have been trying to grow it, combining it with her poisons that cause hallucinations (could hallucinations be how she manipulated the other alliances to work together?) to make a fully fledged tree of her own, to which she could be/control the dream, training from birth an army of ‘Sylvari’. The benefits of which would be A) With her being of the same race they will feel an instant affection/alliance with her therefore follow her unquestioningly. B ) Sylvari, being inherently uncorruptable, would make a great base for an army.
All a long shot I know, but wild speculation is fun if nothing else :-D

Ditto, cant log in. I logged out as my guild chat initially was having about 5 minute (literal) lag when I’d typed, logged out to see if that corrected it and can’t log back in.
(Gandara).
– Jake Chambers.
I agree on this, it is VERY annoying and, in WvW has caused issues more than once when taking a keep, trying to target nearby defenders, but the kitten thing keeps targetting the out of range Lord and not the people actually whooping my kitten .
– Jake Chambers.
I might be wrong, i have had this issue also, but, this has only happened when I have been lazy (or too laggy), ignored all the risen and just lurked by the champ spider spawn location to get the boxes from her, once i had put thought into this, made sure I participated in all the waves, issue seems to have gone. Hope this helps.
– Jake Chambers.
Hey all, firstly, I hope this is the correct forum area to post this, I’m not a big forum user but this seemed to make the most sense to me.
Anyway, I know the idea of player housing has been bandied about a few times here and there, but I was just wondering if it is something that is actually being considered, or better yet actually actively worked on. To me, a place where i can go to in my home instance, where i can access my bank, use the home instance nodes we have aquired from the LS meta’s and such would be a great addition. I’d be more than willing to spend gold (maybe even a few £ of real currency in the gem store) for items and such to fill said housing with furniture and whatever else could be made for the purpose.
Thanks for reading (if anyone does), I look forward to any replies :-) .
– Jake Chambers.
From a personal standpoint (and one I know my friends who I group with on a daily basis) feel that, over 2000 hours in since launch, the Living Story isn’t filling enough of a gap for content once most goals have been achieved. More content doesn’t mean faster LS additions, it means more areas to explore, maybe new dungeons, places we all have yet to see/experience. I know there’s so much work needed to achieve something like this, but LS alone just isn’t cutting it anymore. Ideally (personally i would LOVE to go back to Cantha) but I expect the next area/s to open will be on the existing map which will also be awesome and hopefully leading towards the next Elder dragon story/encounter which, given the voiced opinions of a LOT of people is much needed/wanted.
My other issue, which again is shard by a fairly large group of friends (we all played GW1 to death) is the amount of lore from GW1 that remains untapped. So much rich lore from GW1 could be implemented and brought forward to GW2 but is seemingly ignored in favour of the LS content and such.
More than once comments like “GW2 really isn’t related to GW1 by anything more than the name now” has been hurled around in guild/map chat, and, as much as I do dearly love GW2 it does feel like its missing a little of the mystique of GW1 (this isn’t a ‘rose tinted view’ post btw).
Thanks, and keep up the great work on the game, but please don’t forget the longer serving players from GW1 who know the high standard you all kept during those years, you set the bar so high for yourselves quality wise, here’s hoping you guys continue to keep it so high.

I also had the problem of receiving no reward for the daily. Completed the daily on 26/2/2013 shortly after reset all fine, completed after patch and no reward. Completed on 27/2/2013 after reset, reward given as normal again.
