While I don’t think they should make transmutation charges completely free, it would be nice to have a more viable way to obtain from actual game play. Perhaps make them a crafted item? I am aware that they are already awards for various things, but personally, I don’t like PvP, and spamming city completion on a new character is not exciting in the least bit. I can’t be the only one.
Glamour is a huge part of this game as we all know. I am not against cash shops in the least bit, but in the case of skins, I get the ever-so-slight feeling that Anet is double-dipping. They charge a good chunk of gems for the skins, and then they charge you again to be able to apply them (I am also aware you get the first application for free, but how often do you simply use a skin once?).
I’ve never bought charges, and will probably continue to not buy them. .
never try to change password when you get an email that says you need to.even if it looks legit.i got it too and delete it.
Well, never change your password through the links provided in the email. If you’re worried, go directly to the website in question and change your PWs from there.
I still don’t get why they didn’t let us turn certain items into skins (the leather vest, booty shorts, etc).
I want to try and clarify that I’m really not trying to insult the entire music community with my posts, they were more or less directed at a certain individual.
I really do appreciate the time and skill that goes in to being able to play an instrument by hand. I’ve watched a ton of videos of people playing their songs and duets, and it’s quite impressive. I would love to actually see one of those big concerts that I’ve read about before.
Unfortunately, I’ve been a bit disheartened by the online voice of the musical community. I recently came back to the game after a very extended break, and was thrilled to see that there were instruments in game. So I picked one up right away, and started googling music that I could play with it, and I found a lot of threads filled with people much like Eugenics.
To give a wee bit of background, in the last game that I played (Archeage), it was quite different as you would create sheet music (MML coding), which would be played automatically once you created it. I had expected GW to be a similar style, but quickly found out it was not. I loved the music system there, and actually taught myself how to create my own songs in MML vs. just having a selection of songs that I pulled from the website (although I did have some of those too as I loved the songs).
Jumping back to GW2, so right away I started finding thread after thread of people who were trying to actively get macro users banned, and how dare they try to play music with us, plenty of comments how it is taking away from the people with actual skill, and also some upset by those who get tips. I definitely did not get warm fuzzies from this side of the community.
I’m happy to say, thankfully this attitude doesn’t carry over into game (at least not that I’ve seen yet), so there is some hope. I will say though, personally I rarely ever play music in town. I go to some quiet little spot and just play the music as I do still enjoy the songs, even if they are just macros. My character looks adorable while playing too
One of my favorite nights that I’ve had since coming back was when I had first made my new Necro. I was in Rata Sum watching another character play music on their lute. It was obviously a macro, but that doesn’t matter. Someone else joined in with their selection of music, and then I shared some of my songs also. A dance party was started soon as well. That’s what I enjoy about music. It brings people together and gets people to let their hair down so to speak.
Anyway, thank you to those who are understanding when it comes to the macro users. We all play music because we enjoy some part of it, and it’s nice to know there are others out there, who obviously have way more skill, that are OK with us playing at their sport
Edit: Holy Batman! That got long. :X LOL.

and we’re back to the needless irl comparisons. they’re still not applicable or relevant
it bothers me because i spent time and effort getting good at the instruments. i see it as any other part of the game – and just like any other part of the game, when people cheat to cut corners, it cheapens the whole thing.
and just like any other area of the game, youre not just magically imbued with the necessary skill, it’s something you build over time. that doesnt justify laziness
You brought the RL comparisons into this conversation first. Did you really forget the two suggestions you gave me in your last two posts?
So we’re back to the part where you just need your ego stroked. Yes, obviously it takes skill to play things by hand. You want to be recognized and praised for your grand skill. Let me get right on that…
Anyway, as fun as this is doing circles with you, I’ll be moving on now.
(edited by arooboo.5143)
Some of us just really enjoy music, and perhaps we don’t have the skill to play it by hand.
in that case you have virtually limitless platforms to listen to your favorite music. what’s the point?
I really can’t understand why you’re having a hard time with this. If I find it enjoyable to have music playing in game, coming from my instruments, why does it bother you in what manner it’s being “played”.
Can you all play a harp in real life? Can you play a bloody horn? Should we all have the exact same skills as our character before we should be allowed to do anything in game?
Let us know when and where you’re playing, and we macro users can come stroke your ego a bit.
Some of us just really enjoy music, and perhaps we don’t have the skill to play it by hand. So you’re saying we should be denied being able to play music on our own?
Music brings people together in towns. Music adds to the atmosphere. It’s not the end of the world that someone isn’t playing it by hand.
Anet has confirmed that they have no issue with macros being used for music as it does not impact game play. I can dig up the comment if you really care to see it, but I’d rather spend my time doing something else.

To add my experience, I bought 12, and got 2 shadow dyes (blue and magenta).
I’ve been calling these random shouts Schizophrenia Mode.
lol, that’s fitting! I had read that random voices were coming out of our characters after the patch, so I was prepared for that, but no one warned me that they would be almost non-stop!
Depending on where you are in the story line, there are a couple of quests where you can pick specific plans put forward by the different orders, but at that point you are not officially linked to any of them. A short bit later, you have to choose your official order to continue with.
If that’s not where you are, then I’m baffled :X Orders can’t be changed once you select one.
Don’t flame OP though. He’s a new player and is learning like those before him.
He’s been around for at least 3 months. What’s the cutoff for flame resistance?
(gosh the kitten filter is senstive. Type a perfectly normal word, and it got kittened!)
This is my latest ranger/necro look.
I love the ranger
I do think outfits should be more modular in the ability to hide certain aspects of them, but that may be something they’re working on right now.
This x100. There are outfits that I would spend money on if I could just hide the shoulders. I can hide the helm on outfits – why stop there? I want to hide those horrible shoulders on most of the outfits, and also gloves depending on the outfit. The crystal nomad with those redonkulous levitating crystals?! Hideous to me. I should be able to hide them. Add the function, make more money – not sure what downside there is.
I also want more armor sets, so I’m not a die-hard outfit fan, but they are great IMHO for leveling so I don’t have a clown suit of mixed gear on my random alts.
Oh yes! Would love to be able to hide the shoulders! I keep debating whether or not to pick up the Imperial Outfit, but the shoulders (fan…thing?) keep scaring me away.
outfits – no mix n match
armors – mix n matchoutfits are now beeing released often and they stopped releasing armor sets in gem store
is there anything else you dont understand so I can write it again for you?
Man, you’re annoying. There is a way to discuss a topic without being a condescending kitten to everyone. But if that’s what your style, who am I to knock it.
Anyway, plenty of people love outfits. I love outfits. I also love skins, but my outfits get far more usage as they are free to switch between. I have plenty of outfits still locked that I’m hoping get released soon so I can pick them up.
Yeah the “chance” items in the Gem Store should be avoided, its a very shady business practice.
“Shady” business practice…..were you being punny?
But really, it’s not a scam, or shady, it’s simply trying your luck. If they didn’t state in the description that it was a chance to get a shadow or other dye, then we’d have a problem.
I personally don’t mind their gem shop much. Most of the items are a direct buy, which is awesome. Coming from a game where a good number of fluff items are locked into RNG boxes/purchases, this has been like a breath of fresh air.. So for me, I’m OK with the current level of RNG items they toss on the shop. People just have to know what they’re getting into.
(edited by arooboo.5143)
Uh, guys?
I meant forced as in forced to buy gems if I want to complete my carapace armor set, meaning I was mildly irritated at the time that I have no other alternatives to getting the pieces, not even RNG.
I’m not talking about that other free stuff or business or whatever. I just have an incomplete set and I’m bummed that I have to finish it with gem store stuff.
You sure are quick to jump on a bandwagon.
You only need to unlock the specific chapter that gives you the pants, no need to do anything else unless you are trying for the luminescent set. I recently came back after a long break, and was a bit surprised the chapters were for sale, but hey, it’s a dynamic story, and I wanted my kitten skirt. In the long run, 200 gems isn’t much. It’s $2.50 real money. I thought that was a decent price for looking purdy.
I hope each and every one of you have to one day live while crippled … this is unacceptable.
There it is folks! The mask slips!
Unless both of them are trolls working together. In which case, bravo!
Get over yourself. You might stand idly by while someone with a disability is grossly mistreated and abused in a public forum, but I won’t. This isn’t a kittening joke.
This thread escalated quickly. Good read for a slow afternoon at work..
For me, it’s build templates! Oh wait…
Maybe one day, my friend
whooo hoooo, this outfit is available on the GEM store. Is it just a coincidence, or did they do this because of my thread? =P
Pic of my character in the outfit with the black wings
lol, I’m pretty sure they had this one planned, but whatever the reason, I’m happy it’s back! YAY
I just started a Necro and all these negative posts are making me second guess my choice.
Hey, if you enjoy it, play it.
My mains are Mesmer and Necro, which are nowhere near the top, but I enjoy them Could always level a more useful job on the side just to have something for dungeons/pvp/whatever floats your boat.
- Being able to buy/sell individual items from a whole stack
- Being able to place buy orders
- Being able to use your scroll mouse to scroll chat window (this seems SO basic, but some games still don’t have this..)
- Being able to play with people across multiple servers
- No regular downtime for maintenance (I know this was mentioned already, but it’s huge!)
You think this is weird?….
/sI feel soooooooo uncomfortable right now.
I’m pretty sure I’m on a list now..
I just want to know why female asura out of all choices use the male version of that.
Can we get standardization on female/male options for female characters? It’s kinda weird seeing a shirtless female asura with nipple piercings.
You think this is weird?….

Fine they want to remove WvW map completion, but then also remove the gifts of exploration fron world completion and make that a WvW bought item after having completely explored those maps.
That doesn’t seem too horrible. I mentioned it earlier, but I do think that if you’re going for a legendary weapon, you should have experience in all types of game play.
Just because people whine wvw is difficult to complete they remove it, this is a stupid decision.
So because people “whine” that it should stay, it should stay? I would rather have people playing WvW because they WANT to rather than feeling like they have to any day.
Well that is your opinion, mine is that they cheated every other player that has completed wvw and made it easier just because off some crybabies, a lot off people cry and anet removes wvw how pathetic.
“Cheated” is a bit strong here. They simply tweaked the game play to what they think will benefit the greater population. I don’t feel cheated at all. My accomplishments are my own, and simply because future groups will have it slightly easier, it doesn’t diminish my accomplishments any.
I’d take a closer look at the situation to see who the real cry baby is here.
I look at it this way…
WvW combat will likely get better since PvE only players won’t be there taking up a slot just to do exploration.
I think this is a good point. No more free kills for you real WvWers!
Although in my case, I did actually start to enjoy WvW after being stuck there for so long. I still don’t go in regularly, but I’ve actually made a specific gear set for when I go in. I guess that is the downside to it being removed. People may not be so willing to give it a shot since there is nothing forcing them to go in there.
Thing is, the guy that threw the maize balm keeps whispering and writing to her that "Its our rule that ten percent of all drops go to me, because I bought the balm,
This part amuses me greatly. How exactly would they monitor all that was received by other people? Sounds like he was just pulling something out of his kitten and was hoping that you’d be more gullible/passive.
I’m a bit torn. I just finished my first map completion last week, and I’ve gotta say, I was really dreading the WvW part of it as I don’t really do that event. But hey, if I can do it, I’m sure everyone can manage too! And just for the record, I was not after a legendary, simply wanted the star & title.
On one hand, I do think that if you’re going for a legendary, you really should have to put your time into the different aspects of the game, and for better or worse, WvW is part of that. On the other hand, I am thrilled I don’t have to do WvW again for my alts. :P
Oh nu! I don’t know much about the bug, but here’s the link in case anyone can see this post.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/changes-to-world-completion/
You can dye your outfit at any time via your character panel, for free, with the dyes you have unlocked. Different pieces of armor have varying number of dyes they can take, 2-4. But once you dye them and accept the change, they are permanent. I don’t remember if swapping a piece copies over the previous color scheme or not.
Just to clarify, the dye job is permanent in the sense that if you swap to other gear, when you swap back, your dye job for that first set will still be the same. You can dye your clothes as often as you like
I haven’t leveled a new character from scratch for awhile, so I may be wrong, but I think the option to freely dye your gear is unlocked fairly low (or maybe there is no level requirement at all?) . But for some general information, all the dyes that you obtain in your travels are saved, and you can use them as often as you like. In the hero screen, there will be a dye tab that you can play with. Doesn’t cost any stones to dye your clothes.
I have a Logitech G600 gaming mouse that I love, but my biggest complaint is that I can’t remap the scroll to anything else. Is it actually possible with just using autohotkey to change this?
Really? That’s weird, my G500 can remap the scroll. And I don’t mean the click, but the actual scrolling.
Hmmm, I’ll have to search again. Maybe, maaaaybe I had just overlooked something before, but sadly I don’t think that’s the case Here’s to hoping!

I had been hoping to bind my scroll wheel (not the clicking of the button, but the actual scrolling itself) to use as my dodge, but am stumped how to go about doing it.
Hope to see HOT has more than 10 jumping puzzles <3
If you haven’t done the 30 gold badges in SW yet, then let me suggest trying for that achievement. If you like JPs, you will enjoy some of the badge locations immensely. I love JPs and I’ve had to rage quit multiple times lol.
Oooo, what is this?! Time to do some googling. I haven’t been around for awhile, so everything in SW is new to me. I did to the JP there, but haven’t started on the badge collection.
One of them will have you raging at the game and then loving them for it. The other 29 are easier, smaller jumping puzzles.
Can’t wait That pretty much sums up my feelings about JPs. I love them, but there were a couple that made me want to rip my hair out.

I also love JPs and would never say no to more
just jump into the game and stop thinking about it
would be totally useless to now not enjoy the game because of that!
People don’t like to feel like they’ve received a bad deal. Yes, the game is well worth the $40 buy-in, but I’d still feel sour if I missed a 75% off deal by a day.
I’d recommend contacting their customer support. I have no idea if they have any sort of grace period with this type of a purchase, but the worst they can say is no. Doesn’t hurt to try. Good luck!
Ah, gotcha. Sorry for misunderstanding. I would try contacting support as that definitely sounds off. Maybe someone else will come along and provide some more info.
I really like outfits
I can appreciate wanting more skins also, but there are definitely people out there who like and will continue to purchase outfits.
I may be reading this wrong, but do you have two separate accounts (different email logins), or are you having issues accessing the Mail Carrier on different characters within the same account?
The purchases are account-wide, so all of your characters on a single account should have access to the items. If that’s the issue you are having, then I’m stumped.
But if you are trying to get the item for two separate accounts, you would need to purchase the item for each.
If you want to explore 100% of the world, you need to explore 100% of the world.
So how come I don’t need to explore any dungeons or fractals, pvp arenas or edge of the mists?
Besides, do WvWers actually want players who are only running around to cap points to take up slots from actual contributing fighters?
Easy kills for the real WvWers. I really know jack about WvW, but I’m assuming you get points for each kill? To me, it’s a pretty lame move to kill people who are obviously just trying to clear the map, but hey, some people take this stuff seriously…. >>;
I’m also returning after a lengthy break, and I noticed that guilds can now have members from all servers, no need to form a group on your local server. This isn’t an issue for most events in game, but WvW still requires you to stick with your own server.
My guess is that more people enter by themselves as their main guild may be on a different server.
What was the reasoning behind turning town clothes into tonics? I had bought a few items, the leather vest, the bootie shorts, and bunny ears, and the first two were turned into a really ugly tonic, while the bunny ears turned into a skin. I don’t get why they wouldn’t have just turned everything into skins.
I suggested to my guild to spend an entire evening trying to do the aetherblade goggles. They actually loved the idea.
I still don’t know why.
I dragged my friend who is new to this game through that JP just the other night. I’ve gotta say, my hate for that one is still strong. We did make it up to the goggles, and
then then we both proceeded to die on the jump down. lol. Good fun!
I agree, it’s frustrating. Although it’s not exactly necessary I guess. Along the same vein, I would like a item slot bar for all my trinkets and toys
Yessss! An extra bar for quick access to some items would be awesome.
- I just recently came back to the game after a rather extended break, and am bummed to find GS Mesmers are hated across the lands
- Figured I’d work on something new, so made an Asura Necromancer. Was equally bummed to find out people seem to hate Necros also…
- I have no idea how to post pictures on this forum. Help!
- I’m having a heck of a time trying to relearn how to play this game, and I am currently a button masher in most situations.
- I am really starting to hate humans (my main is one) as they all just look way too dolled up.
- Working my way through LS2, and I cannot stand Marjory and Kasmeer. Marjory’s evidently had too much to drink in her day, and Kasmeer’s naive & innocent act annoys me to no end.
- I’ve been playing in silence for the most part as I can’t find a super casual guild. I just want people who like to talk in-game, but everyone seems to prefer TS these days.
- Unidentified dyes are my guilty pleasure, and I keep spending money on them despite the fact I almost always get dyes I already have.

^Thanks for the good news. I hope they make the trait system available to levelers earlier rather than later.
This is all like opinion man. I just leveled 2 alts, and enjoyed every bit of it.
Traits don’t give you addition skills to press. They give bonus dmg/utility and effects.
You will still play the game exactly the same way as before, except now you can deviate into using certain skills specifically.
Every mmo uses a skill/trait system of some sort, and NO game, offers it 100% upfront.
Mesmers are just weak without it. That’s a class problem. Maybe their revised system is better, but still all subjective.
Obviously everyone is welcome to their own opinion on the changes, I’m just in the boat with people who dislike it. I recently came back after an 18 month break, and started up a new job (Necro). I was excited to go play with my traits, and was in shock that everything was locked. I mainly stick to PvE, but I really dislike the idea of being forced to do very specific tasks in order to unlock my abilities.
Anyhoo, I need to nitpick a bit here. The bolded part of your comment just isn’t true. The last two MMOs I’ve played let you have access to all your available skills as you’ve leveled, no need to backtrack to make sure you’ve completed X, Y & Z before using a trait/skill.
No offense but if you really want to nitpick… skills are NOT TRAITS. They are completely different things.
So that statement would be wrong.
Skills are what your character actually does, that fill up your hotbar. They require a physical animation, and a keypress.
Traits are more like enhancements, and don’t require you to do anything.
HUGE difference.
Skill tree’s are not skills(like the d2 skill tree, or the wow tree pre mop)
The only game that actually gates skills as traits that i know of was wow, which required you to uses the skilltree/traitline to get that particular skill. Im sure there might be others.
A fellow nitpicker! But OK, let me rephrase. The last two MMOs that I’ve played do not require you to do arbitrary things in PvE (or elsewhere) in order to unlock any TRAITS. All available traits were provided to you as you leveled.
