It has been complained about hundreds of times in these forums, right along side with the auto attack having to be toggled manually. While I have seen the auto-attack issue mentioned as a bug to be addressed, I have yet to see anything from ANet regarding the stats issue. I would love to see it addressed though, that is a large hit to your potential damage and/or survivability.
As far as I have been able to figure out there isn’t any other way. It kind of sucks really, as that pack you get from your storyline will never be able to find any upgrade of any value since it is such a low level item.
i guess it makes sense to fight mobs 4 levels higher (ive tried mobs 3 levels higher with zero issues), but this doesnt really feel like natural progression. i feel if im lvl 40 in a 40-50 zone, i’ll be doing the lvl 40-41 quests for sake of completion/story. why am i allowed to faceroll through those?
Well guardian is the “meatiest” of all the classes, so as mentioned above maybe try different class? I don’t know what else to say, as while things may be easy for your guardian, there are a number of complaints with other classes that they really struggle at times in PvE. If they outright increased the difficulty of every mob, there would be a fairly large outcry from the not so balanced classes.
im having a blast smashing things with my hammer/mace/focus guardian. it’s so much fun. unfortunately, my healthbar doesnt really seem to move. i think i just aggroed a dozen svanir 1 level higher than me and my health didnt budge.
i wear my tier 1 cultural set and i have a rare hammer. im specced for power/precision, with a tiny bit of vitality. i have about 5k health at this point.
Please ANet, bring some challenge into the PVE. i love those moments when im fighting for my life, dodging, interrupting, blocking, healing back up. but theyre getting much more rare as my gear gets better it seems. the pve in this game is amazing, but please address the DE scaling and overall difficulty.
First thing to mention is that mobs will definitely get harder as you level higher. Second thing, if you really want a challenge, why stay in a zone with mobs one level above you? Move to another and fight mobs 3-4 levels higher.
Basically this all boils down to that fact that YOU made an assupmtion, and in the end that assupmtion that YOU made was wrong. You mentioned that you did not see ANet mention anything about the well known bug for one week, and not once did they ever mention that due to the bug, they would keep track of tallies and reimburse people at a later date.
The only person at fault here, sorry to say, is you. You of course know what happens when you make assumptions don’t you?
I have never gotten anything level appropriate in lower level zones, the only time I have seen anything close to the system working is in dungeons.
While I do agree that the game is still very ‘young’, the people complaining about content or lack thereof do have valid sentiments. Once upon a time when even the most hardcore player would take 1 month+ to reach max level, games had more time to look at things and make changes, now with new MMO’s people are able to achieve max level within a few days of release. There is no time to flesh out end game, and make tweaks to the economy before people are at the end and wondering what they should do now.
There is lots of content, and the level adjustments help you to still have fun exploring low level zones, but not everyone wants that. When they hit what they feel is end-game, they want to fight big stuff and get rewarded for their efforts. I just hit 80 so I have no real opinion on the dungeons, but even looking at monetary rewards, why does a level 70+ event only reward 1.5x as much silver in some cases? Isn’t it odd that a level 5 even can pat 40-50 copper where a level 75 will only pay 1.5-2 silver in some cases?
Anyway, the point is while there are many whines where people don’t listen there are also some valid points, and personally I believe a portion of it does rest on the developers, when you can level so fast all of a sudden your are 80 and you are lost for what to do.
I finally hit 80 and just realized how much I have let some of my gear slide, some pieces being 15+ levels below me. So it is time to start getting some things updated.
It looks as there are a few ways of getting things going, such as:
- Getting my crafting up to 400
- Using the mystic forge (I have no idea what this is, I still need to read up on it)
- Farming dungeons
- Something about pact armour (again no idea what this is)
- WvW and getting tokens that way.
Though I am not a huge fan of getting the tokens in WvW since in so many fights, especially if you end up overrun you can never pick up your loot in the first place. I enjoy the combat, hate the looting, I really hope ANet fixes it for WvW.
Any thoughts as the best path? I can’t afford to by a lot from the AH as I am rather broke, for ~77 of my 80 levels I salvaged absolutely everything to help get mats for crafting.
Any direction is appreciated, thank you.
All classes have the same base stats at level 80, so starting stats don’t matter. Looking at your screenshot you literally have nothing in vitality. I am no expert, but if you want to be tanky at all, get some mods on your amour to get your vitality up, if the wiki is correct 1 vitality = 10 HP.
I don’t try and be tanky and I always make sure to have extra in vitality, it’s always nice to have a cushion.
I don’t know if anybody else has already reported the problem, but often there is a latency that makes the game unplayable, at least for me, with a delay of action of more than 10 seconds, and sometimes at the end of these I am also thrown out of the game and an error occurs!
Please I really need help, because I like this game and would like to continue playing!I live on my own and i have a private network. In addition, the router is very close to the PC, the connection is via cable and while I’m playing I close any program running in the background!
Take a look at this:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1122636-GW2-command-lines-and-selecting-servers-based-on-ping-amp-latency
There is a part where you can add a command to the shortcut that can get you some diagnostics on your machine and your latency to the servers. Give that a shot and maybe that will point you in the right direction.
Either than that, I would post on the tech support forum and see if they have any better answers.
I can’t say I’ve noticed this, but I play Sylvari. I moved from playing Charr (my personal favorite race, probably the most well done) because they appear to be running in slow motion. It’s an unfortunate side effect of game balance for player movement concerning smaller and larger races. There is really nothing they could do short of giving Charr a speed advantage or give them a slower gait, which would look even more ridiculous when they get on all fours and run and is kind of insulting of a vicious race bred for war.
Wait … so the appearance that you are running slower, even though you are not, is now classified as a game imbalance?
On topic, I never really noticed this issue myself, I guess I have just gotten used to it through the many years playing the various MMO’s.
Redesigning the Healing Turret- It ain't broke, but it needs fixing.

Please don’t, I love the amount of burst heal I can get by throwing down a turret then casting mist with an explosion combo for another heal, it’s great. Why would you want to nerf that? It has saved my kitten more times that I can count.
40 second cooldown? That is a horrible idea, why would you want the turret to have one of the longest healing cooldowns in the game? No, no , no and no.
I understand wanting to reward a player for keeping it up, why not just have the regen scale, so the longer it is out the higher the tick, up to some value of course. Or maybe look at reducing the cooldown of cleansing burst so that it can be applied more often.
I believe the changes you propose would hurt more than help, turrents explode in PvP quit quickly, having a 40 second cooldown on your heal would put engineers at a disadvantage, and we don’t need any more of those.
You equip it, and those upgrades can be replaced like any standard upgrade.
Will we be notified for when the game crashes for various GPUs will be fixed?

Right now I am using a very old graphics card(nvidia 9500 GT) for GW2 because it runs stable for GW2.
My original graphics card when I started playing GW2 since betas was a Nvidia GTX 550 Ti.(It seldom crashed in beta) Since the game’s launch I have been crashing everytime I zone while using that graphics card.
There are many people that have the same problem as I do and it is very frustrating to not be able to use my good GPU and have smooth graphics.
Is there a place I can look to see if the devs are making any progress on this situation?
It’s not the “devs” place to fix it, the problem is with your card and it’s drivers, there is not much the ANet can do about it. I run a 570 and I have never crashed. If you have not tried it don’t just download the latest drivers, get the current beta drivers and see if those run any better.
The only people it hurts are those who like to play the trading house to earn their money, for the rest of the player base it’s great to find affordable equipment. People who play the market game tend to jack the prices of items for no reason either than lining their own pockets, which is fine, it’s all part of the game. If you are a trader and truly want to play the market, buy the cheap items and re-sell them as so many people do, sure it’s not all that great for the economy and you have to tie up your own gold in investments, but that’s the way it should be.
In the end it really doesn’t matter, you only see it as a loss because you could have made the extra two coppers, the person selling it got it for free, not counting “time is money”, so they are making a profit, just not as large of one as they could.
I am not saying this is you, but I have read this same post often enough and I have no sympathy for those who play the markets, they are a large part of inflation and the longer they are held back by large influxes of cheap equipment the better.
Remember too that level 5 mobs, even when you are level 5, die a lot easier than a level 20 mob. Mob’s start to even out later in the game, at level 63 there have definitely been some level 55 mobs that have beaten me up pretty bad.
I am not saying the system is perfect, but comparing mobs of such vastly different levels, and mobs intended for newbs, is not a good comparison, just re-roll a new character and see how quickly you mow through mobs of equal level compared to your higher level fighting mobs of his/her level.
I like the spawn rates, it’s rare that the spawns go nuts, but when thy do I find it fun and it actually provides a challenge. I don’t think they need to be changed at all. If you find yourself surrounded and you don’t want to fight, just run, out running the majority of the mobs is quite easy and no one is forcing you to stick around and kill them all.
There was an update posted on the 9th, is 4 days really that long to go without news?
They have been more up front, and quicker with bug fixes and updates than any MMO I have played recently, at least that I can remember, and you are complaining about no news for 4 days?
Hi. Im new to the game. I just wanted to ask what amount of gold do most of you guys have? I am at 51 and I earn my 1 gold in 4 hrs (farm and ah only). I only play from 7pm-11pm since I work mostly during the day. Currently I only have about 6g. So at my rate, would you consider it slow? Any suggestions where I can farm? This is my first MMO btw. Im really enjoying this game too.
Thanks for the tips.
Already playing to just farm gold at 51? I couldn’t do it, I am only level 60, but not once have I ever farmed for the sole purpose of farming gold and/or items. In my 60 levels I have been able to keep my leather crafting at my level and I have never ran out of gold, or could not afford something I needed. The closest I come to farming is running every single world event I stumble upon, but that is more for the XP than any monetary reward.
I do admit my crafting has slowed down as I am not getting near as much leather as I used to, I seem to get too many cloth/chain drops and my goodie bags are spitting out more butter than anything else :/.
For the record I have ~2.5 gold at level 60.
My standard names for every MMO since UO have been:
Publius,
Picus,
Equus
None of them were available within ~20 minutes of the server being up, I settled for other Latin names (I have a thing for Ancient Latin and Roman history).
Read something about they changing the order of “priority” for the F button in cases like thtat or in spots were instead of revive someone you would loot, etc… It was in the updates these days…. Is this still recent?
Changing priority is a bandaid fix to me, I would much rather see the ability to map looting to a different key, same with pick-up, as the above poster said accidentally picking up a useless world weapon in the middle of a fight sucks. Being able to set auto loot would also alleviate some of these issues.
I agree on some things like the random boons being a PITA, the kit swapping and all that, but turrets aren’t that bad if you spec for that ability that reduces damage by 30% (I think that’s the number). Granted I am only level 60, but with that trait selected all my turrets can take a beating.
My issues with turrets are the long cooldowns an every turret but rifle, I think they should all be lowered, especially the thumper, what good is having a “tanky” turret if you can only summon it once a minute? Rifle can stay where it is, put Rocket down to 45, and the others to 30 second timers.
I also think the tool belt timers for turret abilities are rather long, and I would much prefer to retain the tool belt ability than the extremely weak explosion blowing them up does. If ANet thinks that retaining tool belt abilities would be overpowered, than at the very least up the damage for blowing up turrets.
I agree, on a couple of events I went pure support on my engineer and took out the Elixir Gun, and other elixirs. On smaller, easy events, I could do enough damage to get gold, but on harder events even though I was buffing and healing as many as I could, I could only squeak in enough damage to get a bronze, or if I was lucky a silver.
Healing and buffing should both add to contribution levels in events.
Engineer has the most options.
You have a Mortar as an elite you can drop for anyone to use, you have Grenades that can spec for over 1200m, you have a flame thrower which is short to medium, you have pistols and rifles which are medium to long range, and you have bombs you can drop behind you has you retreat.
Due to the diversity in range options, I would say the Engineer is superior in damage because you can chose which type of range you want at any time.
This is only kind of true as you have to choose these options before the battle, many are based off of spec and which skills you choose, also you need to remember that while you can switch to a kit as an engineer you cannot switch weapons during combat. So while diversity is technically there, you have to decide before the battle.
If the person is not at the keyboard, then yes, I believe it may be construed as botting.
I think the finally got banned, but on my first server there was a group of about 8-10 rangers that sat on a bridge where a world event regularly occurred. The didn’t move, they just continually fired some AoE shot in one direction continually, I think it was AoE, I don’t play a ranger so I am not familiar with their skills. They would never move, even after the event was over they all just sat there shooting in the same direction, and they were there at least every time I was on.
Myself and a couple others reported for botting, and after ANet’s last reported botting purge I never saw those rangers again.
There were/are a number of bugs, and other issues such as no auction house, but that is pretty standard with new MMO’s, I will say though I am impressed with the speed and frequency the updates. They seem to roll out fixes every day or two, and many times I have caught a bug only to see it fixed in the next couple days.
Many other MMO’s have taken a lot longer to roll out fixes (weeks and months), even at release, Arena Net is truly running agile development.
