I expect both DH and FB to be out of the raid meta within 6 months.

I remember when Spirit Vale came out, forced me to drop my Guardian for an Elementalist for 10 months. Hopefully this time around I don’t have to do that.

It’s looking like the mirror comp is staying so meta spots will come and go as they adjust dps numbers.

Whether or not raiders will buy PoF will depend on if you actually need it for the next raid.

Of course you will, and that that is all they need to do to guarantee the sale.

There is no real fence sitting for people who are serious about raids, and Anet knows this, which is fair, because those guaranteed future X-pac sales are about the only really good reason to put raids into a game like GW2 to start with.

An expansion releasing without a single dungeon, fractal or raid is at the very least extremely odd in the MMO market and does not lend itself well to advertisement to the outside world.

“Letting the content speak for itself” is a gamble they’re taking by having almost no marketing or hype building. Releasing the expansion with only content for a single group of players is another. We’ll see if it works out for them. Personally I prefer it much more when they actually talk about stuff.

Whether or not raiders will buy PoF will depend on if you actually need it for the next raid. It’s highly likely ofc, but no official word on it. E-specs are kind of a terrible argument, only for a few classes they’re useful and they’re by no means a direct upgrade over HoT specs. As it’s looking now, a lot of players will stay completely competitive with HoT specs.

Then do nothing vs the other raid bosses that require more than standing in melee range.

Look, I agree with the mantra comments but this is just exaggerating. Nearly all of them are standing still in melee for the most part at this point and of the few that aren’t, only rly matthias is good for condi dmg anyway (and even then he doesn’t move a lot in a good group).

I absolutely agree with regard to FB. That’s where I expect that trait to shine, especially if FB can replace the group’s mesmer for quickness. Something like FB-cPS-healer (maybe Ventari rev for alacrity?)-2x cDPS would probably benefit massively from Wrath sharing.

Would def be nice if FB could get a stable meta spot like that. We’ll see tho, for now my expectations are flavour of the month OP condi dps that will get nerfed relatively soon.

Perfect Inscriptions was already a hair away from being the top pick in Radiance, now it’s the no-brainer choice. And further on the positive side, you can now use your Bane Signet freely on breakbars as it actually buffs group damage even if yours drops a bit.

Yeah, using BS on breakbars won’t hurt as much anymore, but I’m not convinced that using it is worth it from a DPS perspective. You lose about 20 seconds of the passive, while one (hopefully power) dps and three classes that won’t profit a lot gain 10 seconds of it. Haven’t done any real calculations, but I’d guess it’s at best plusminus 0 dps for the group.

I have higher hopes for the condi signet once we get firebrand honestly, because your cPS will benefit from it as well. At the very least using bane signet will not be a loss anymore & if you run 2 DH alternating prob works decently well.

100% retal uptime has been a thing for a while now in raids. Sure it kinda died off again last quarter with the amazing food nerf they did back then, but before that DH was a good DPS and they had 100% retal uptime.

That being said, if you are the only guardian in your group it’s best to take a utility skill that gives extra retal (SYG or hallowed ground).

Depends on the gamemode you’re talking about? For raiding it’s obvs not worth it because you swap it for a defensive stat. Both other grandmaster traits offer more dps to you personally and your group.

Personally I’m disappointed. No mention of it, nor any dev that’s willing to communicate with us like the WvW devs did. Maybe it’s obvious to people that follow every dev statement and read between the lines that raids are no longer tied to an expac, but they’ve never really clearly stated it. In fact last AMA ignored any and all raid questions.

Meta’s come and go. It’s true that at this moment guardian is a bit lackluster compared to the other classes, but that’ll change. Sadly DH was a terrible espec compared to most of the others, and the core guard lacks a great deal as well. That being said, once they bridge the current gap between power and condi builds the class will be right at the top again.

I feel like ANet really missed the ball here, more-so than has happened in the past. Not only did they destroy power classes in the meta, as that damage lost cannot be recuperated by any means, but they also didn’t even get rid of the movement modifier on seaweed salad.

Seriously, the following change would’ve been so much better in every possible way:

Seaweed Salad
+10% damage while HP is over 90%
Swiftness Whatever

It would’ve fixed the movement problem they cited, would’ve kept power builds relevant, and would’ve not thrown the Seaweed Salad TP market into mayhem. There would’ve been no downside whatsoever.

Doesn’t even need the extra requirement at all. Even before the nerf Condi food gave a comparable boost without any requirements.

No, it needs something so the other foods make sense. With what RisingDusk said as someone who uses seaweed in WvW a lot I’d probably have gone a different direction. That is how things should be done, an optimal option given a set of criteria with a different optimal option given a different set of criteria, otherwise what’s the point of all the options other than to waste the money of people who don’t know?

Seems like no improvements to power classes to make up for the nerf and barely any condi nerfs so yeah, maybe. Idk 90% is pvp related with some arbitrary kittened changes that don’t do anything thrown in with it.

The good thing is, we only need to wait another 3 months for barely any changes. Hype.

Hello and welcome to the Fat Norns Can’t [LoS] recruitment page!

We are an established PvE guild located in EU, focusing on Raids and Fractals. We’re a group of veteran players that do daily fractals and have 2 raid teams that clear the raid weekly. We’re not hardcore, but we do have a hint of tryhard, always looking to improve our runs and have a laugh on discord.

What are we looking for?

2 Chrono mains to fill up our roster.

We expect you to have experience in all wings, but if you only know pug tactics that’s fine as long as you’re willing to learn.

What we offer:

  • Daily Fractals (not organised) and frequent CM runs
  • Full clears on Monday (2 groups working with a sign up system) starting at 7pm UK time.
  • Full clear on Tuesday for the people that missed the monday run. We strive to get everyone their kills. (within reason)
  • More raid runs during the week, either for trying out classes you’re inexperienced on, CMs, trying out new tactics, etc.
  • A very active discord
  • A fun close-knit community
  • Website & Forums
  • A fully unlocked Guild Hall

Requirements:

  • Strictly 18+
  • You are interested in efficiency and smooth runs
  • Experienced in all raid wings
  • You are willing to come on Discord
  • This is your main guild, while 100% rep is no longer required with the HoT change we expect you to be an active member of our community. We are not an LFG guild to be used at your leisure.
  • You are knowledgeable in your class, PvE meta and speedrun tactics
  • You have 2 classes ready for raids
  • You have at least 1 character with 150AR for t4 fractals (not a necro)

Is there a trial?
Not in the traditional sense. You’ll run with us for a couple of weeks and we’ll see if you’re a good fit for our community.

I doubt they will function exactly like kits tbh. It doesn’t make sense to have no CD on them as it would generally make the entire virtues line pointless. If they do function exactly like kits it’s pretty meh. I love having a more intricate rotation compared to the braindead spam we have now but if I wanted keyboard piano I’d just play my engi.

Visually the skills were rly interesting.

I’d say they were probably the coolest skills in the entire game. Pacify looked amazing and Judgement was extremely powerful and looked powerful too. The only problem with those skills were being locked behind an atrocious cooldown. I still remember carrying groups in Fractal 50 against Shaman with Tome of Courage and using pacify followed by #5 (forgetting name…), looked amazing, felt powerful, sad that the only reason it was viable to use was that people sucked and I had basically 3 minutes between phases so it was refreshed.

It was both the CDs and the ridiculously long cast times. But yeah, definitely looked cool. Gonna be a real waste if the next e-spec doesn’t reintroduce them tbh.

I don’t miss tomes in the sense that I actively used them when they were there, but the missed potential definitely left a sour taste. Hopefully they come back in a more meaningful way. Visually the skills were rly interesting.

I don’t run core guard anymore but I can understand the sentiment. With DH we lost the support part of our class entirely in PvE. It’s now a pure dps class. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy we got a meta spot and that we’re no longer mindlessly pressing 1 on hammer, but guardian used to be so much more than just dps. Part of the class identity is definitely gone. Also traps rly just aren’t interesting skills imo.

At least the right weapons finally improved to a spot where you actually have a rotation. At the start of HoT with rev doing literally everything better, and the first half of 2016 where you were basically forced into an afk hammer auto build were way worse.

As someone who works I still prefer monday. It’s not so crazy difficult to keep my evening mostly free for raids. I mean all 4 wings is like 2h-2h30 which isn’t a huge amount of time. Friday evening on the other hand is problematic at times, since you know, social life…

At this point I don’t think it would change anything. Trinity works in trinity games from a balance perspective because classes are locked in their role. It’s just not realistic to expect they would redo the whole combat system and all of the older content to account for aggro mechanics.

The question is, do we really want more wings with harder encounters so we sit all week in raid instances?

They could’ve easily sticked to 3 bosses and made them more interesting. The mursaat overseer in particular just feels like an event like trio or escort. The CM for the overseer should’ve been the base normal mode mechanics. It’s 10x more fun.

Well we know what the next raid fixes will be.

The green poisoned floor now removes stealth effects. Sloth is also now immune to conditions while sleeping and can only be targeted by cc effects.

Or maybe they should just nerf the perma stealth thief for the benefit of both game modes.

WvWers will still complain tho. Nerfed cuz PvE not WvW lul.

I would love to see some longbow love. Currently I use LB/GS in my PvE open world build just because I find scepter to be pretty bland and I really don’t need a full DPS build in open world. Also I dislike the fact that scepter is pretty much a melee weapon if you want to get the most out of it. I think it would be awesome if Longbow was made a legitimate contender for a ranged DPS spec.

Just trait-wise I already think that’s almost impossible tbh considering scepter has such a low cd symbol vs the long cd symbol on lb.

NOW, you NEED ascended to do fractals. You cannot do upper level fractals without agony resistance, and that goes in ascended gear. In order to get ascended gear, you have to have a maxed out crafting on one or more category. You also need a ton of materials to make this gear, and some of the things you are crafting is time-gated to one a day, which will take a while, or is expensive to buy. Now there will be Legendary armor coming out, with better stats than ascended.

Multiple fallacies here. You needed AR to do highest levels pre-HoT, you still don’t need AR to do the lower levels of fractals and legendary armor will have the same stats as ascended.

I do. I also remember, that the groups without those restrictions filled up faster, and yet had the same chance of finishing the content. Elitist atitudes were more damaging to elitists themselves than to other players or the game as a whole.

Well, Teq revamp was part of the same wave that created HoT and brought us raids. You know, the mistaken assumption that people asking for the game to be made more difficult are speaking for the community, or even for the large part of it.

Yes, the split did exist before, but the game made a lot of effort to minimize its importance. Now it directly feeds it. That is the difference.

So the difference is that it no longer blatantly ignores a group of players in GW2 and more varied content is created? Sounds terrible.

No, there’ is no “holy trinity” — there is a huge diversity of potential builds and team comps. I don’t see it any differently than people insisting on “zerker or bust” for dungeons, when that wasn’t necessary either.

Do you have for raids (and sometimes T4 Fracs):

Tank – Check
DPS – Check
Healer – Check

You have the holy trinity, not much you can do about it as it’s that straight forward and simple. I also wouldn’t go so far as to say there’s “a huge diversity” as people generally still tend to shoehorn into the same sort of builds.

But it’s always been that way for high level fractals and hard dungeons. It used to be zerker or get out. Now there’s more variety, not less.

Yes but his point was that there isn’t a holy trinity, when there is. I wouldn’t totally agree that it’s always been that way – you could easily do the old dungeons without zerker (it just wasn’t often as fast), it was something around 90-95% wanted zerk or gtfo.

Right now there’s power, condi, for offense (in which the only thing that’s changed is the stats of the gear being used), most likely Minstrel or Magi for healing, and tank depends on what you are really.

There’s a trinity in raids. I run fractals without a tank. Even T4 fractals.

Is why I said sometimes in T4 ;P I’ve never seen it myself but a friend has said he joined a group and they were expecting raid-like efficiency.

There’s no consistent aggro mechanic in fractals and anyone in a group with raid-like efficiency will blast through t4 bosses so fast tanking isn’t even an option.

In PvE lb is a joke atm so I guess? Honestly I’m not a fan of the weapon at all. The slow aa combined with being rooted half the time make it an incredibly boring weapon imo. I like it in pvp tho, landing lb#3 consistently at least adds a small margin of skillful play to an otherwise brainless espec. Tbh I’d be happy already if true shot didn’t root you. Wouldn’t do anything for pve viability but it’d at least make it a more enjoyable weapon to use.

By this logic, amount of content and development time must be proportional to amount of players intended to play this content. And if such numbers are disproportional, then corrections must be made, either by changing amount of said content, or by changing size of the target population.

Raiding is, in fact, pretty much a loss making activity for the company, compared to other content. It’s consistently not interesting to the majority of players, no matter how hard the companies push to make it work. (eg: WoW, famed for “casual friendly” LFR, still has relatively low participation rates in raiding.)

See you say that, but mesmers got another support spec with chrono. So its not out of the question that guard will get a heal spec.

It’s not out of the question at all. What I’m saying is that it’d be a waste. Just ask all the healing revs and magi eles how much they get taken in meta groups.
