Just wanted to say I was impressed with the audio developments and to also mention that Mclaine (sp?) was very colourful
and you guys should really concentrate on dance to go with the sound development.
Maybe even add as much diversity as the old Star Wars: Empty Galaxies did to dance moves etc. Perhaps?

I can see why my team leader was bricking it,when our name was next to yours one day in the brackets page during the lead up to the game.
Well something needs to happen all these pve pros keep pushing far leaving us outmanned on other fights… or doing nothing but zerging orb and dying, etc etc. its getting bad…. it’s really pathetic when you can judge how well your team will do based off the amounts of legendaries they have. The more legendaries the worse off you will be. GG
I say you can predict the match based on 3 things:
-weapon equipped i see so many warriors with GS these days, or mesmer with torch, or guardians with staff and GS…
-shiny style a guy with those glowing metal wings sure is a PvE oriented player, or a legendary GS, tequatl / fractals weapons…
-title every time i see Hero Of Lions Arch i know it’s gonna be bad now, every PvP player should use his champion title (not champion slayer pls) or ransacker / marauder etc…
I have all of those things.. I win plenty of matches :p
I also have enough game time to do a lot of gw2 content tho and a good pvp guild to help me be a good pvper as well as a good pve guild to do the living story. shrugs maybe I see your massive generalisation point.
edit: I dont have a torch on my mesmer or a gs on my warrior. So make that the last 2 things you mention.
well I was helping myself to some degree, I was not able to solo the 3 pre events and lyssa.
Although I dont think the point of the megaserver change was for people to camp areas and not tell anybody of events. I “feel” like the new changes are initially promoting a lot of standing around, in contrast to before with lots of productive gameplay.
I will say tho that the changes have improved the Karka Queen encounter. It is regularly done at 5pm at the moment as to occassionally.
I know theres a lot of posts saying how wonderful megaserver is.
Just had a frustrating experience and came to “vent”. I also know there is a guide to constructive feedback do’s and don’ts. Which was kinda long, so ill try and remember points.
What happened:
I was attempting to unlock some traits on my many alts and going for the Lyssa one. Lyssa was up (as there are no timers I can find that work, this was a nice surprise instead of sitting around for ages). Alas was me and 1 person, not enough to do the 3 pre events to drop lyssa’s shields. So I popped over to Cursed shore where there was lots of people doing events and informed them that Lyssa was up. I went back to Lyssa. She was dead..
Short version: I left zone where lyssa was up and in the space of time to load cursed shore, say “lyssa is up if anybody wants” and go back. I got moved to a different zone where lots of people were counting their loot.
How can this be improved:
Stop making a zone’s content, population and timers appear random.
Which game does what you want it to?

I have a challenge for people who like doing builds for warrior.
I am looking for a strong build that utilises a shield. Preferably with sword but that bit I can live with. Either for WvW, PvE or sPvP.
I have 2(3) warriors and Im happy with the classic GS and axe & mace build. Hambow is a bit dull in sPVP. So i am looking for some diversity. I understand that this will probably be out of date when the zerk gear is nerfed, but I am musing already

….. recognition of time spent in PvP? The more time, the more recognition? Reaching r60, 65, or 70 requires a ton of dedication (please no skyhammer replies. It’s overblown). Is it so bad to want something acknowledging the hard work and loyalty of players who have given their sweat, blood, and tears forged in the fires of PvP battle arenas?

This is perfectly reasonable in my humble opinion and Im 100% behind it. It would be super awesome of Anet, to do this.
From my understanding that atm the existing ranks are rewarded with extra blue trans. Which is nice for people who play all 3 aspects of the game (thanks btw), does it mean much to a pure pvp player?
/aside I am also very much looking forward to shark finisher, is this being removed from the game or shop only? What is happening to the finishers for the compressed ranks?
This and a lot of posts are just different angles to attack the injustice of autoleveling r55+ to r80.
I have empathy with the outrage and simply put as you get a small rank increase for losing every match you play, an unemployed monkey trained to join up a character will eventually reach r80.
Hard Fact : rank = time. Bad players more time and good players less time. Therefore if you have more time, say you dont earn a living or at school you will have a higher rank than the best pvper who can only play 1 hour a week.
So by all means get upset at the amount of time those players have:
Pessimistic view : Given away to their competitors
Optimistic View : Gifted to their fellow players.
Its depressing I know but it really is a measure of how much time you can play in the current system. I would let it go and save yourself some high blood pressure.
EDIT: reading around the initial point of would you take a r70 over an r40 is the pvp equivalent of the pve filter of 5K AP only groups. Its gambling but limited your losses. In my experience the people who advertise such groups/restrictions are poor players that need better players to help them through.

Transmutation Charges are for the new wardrobe system.
Any (yellow) Transmutation Stones that you have now can be converted into charges at a 3:1 ratio, and any (blue) Transmutation Crystals that you have can be converted into charges at a 1:1 ratio.
e.g. If you have 153 Transmutation Stones and 12 Transmutation Crystals, you can convert them into a total of 63 Transmutation Charges.

Probably a silly question: Is the lobby shared across servers? When ppl advertise events are these just for their servers?
On the basis that the leaderboards think that I am dDoS attack when I try to click to the end of the list. I normally get as far as 500’s before internal server error, what does 81% mean?
Is that 81% of people are better than you, worst than you (i.e. as far as the leaderboards are concerned, I understand that theres plenty of discussion about skyhammer farmers, hot joiners etc)

When people say when LFT must know map rotations! What do they mean? that rotations occur? or the maps layout themselves?
I believe if you all press the “I am Ready” button the match starts regardless of countdown. I only ever seen it once or twice so could have been a glitch..but it does work, just not as you guys are suggesting.
I think you have to acknowledge there are 3 types of 4 v 5.
1) Player doesnt turn up or turns up late.
2) Player sulks in base.
3) Player disconnects
What are the real causes of these?
1) I dont know, I do know if your afk, you will load into match. If you get disconnected when you load back in, youll go straight to match. So I dont believe its these? Probably someone queued and then logged off.
2) Bad sportsmanship
3) Bad sportsmanship.
What can Anet do about it?
1) Possibly add another queuer if no queuer present, compensate the teams? The latter can lead to abuse.
2) +3) Report option and infractions leading to behavioural changes. This requires possibly an in-game CS, which I don’t believe exists beyond staff and community on their own time.
TL:DR I dont think a majority of players understand this issue.
What if by playing a different class you were attributed a different rating?
I might very well be a top thief in SoloQ but if I grab my Elementalist I’m being matched agaisnt people of my Thief’s skill level. That hardly seems fair to me and to my teammates.
Having a separate MMR for each profession would solve this Unranked Queue issue, because if you were going to try a class, you could start that class’ ranking from fresh.
Its not a bad idea. If I had to try and find a counterpoint. Do you think a high rated elementalist veteran of the ranks plays his/her Engineer for the first time, is going to be comparable to a virgin Ranger who has started pvp?
Did face 5 Spirit rangers once, we barely got over 100 points. We were 2xnecros, hambow, guard and thief. Im not saying I’m a great PVPer, but I don’t see losses like that even on 4 vs 5.
I should be the only one that play PvP for fun. The only I care is about rank, you know, it’s like leveling something. Of course, if the game reward me with other things, it’s ok, but with a limit to prevent PvE farmers.

1. Why hate PvE farmers? I cant think of a downside with having loads more people populate games to help queuing for games not take as long and they be most likely worst than me at it. Its the equivalent of ppl in pve hating “noobies” for coming and keeping their game alive…

Thief for exmaple. I met some really good theives that pwned me (er downed me like a chump) every time I met them, and some I thought were pretty easy to down. Those same names were reversed when I swapped classes.
I think possible what is OP is certain combinations of classes in the hands of average or better players.
This is so sad to read these all whining comments of no rewards at the moment. You have announced tournament with great prizes and you still don’t have motivation to train before the tournament ?
99% of spvp players would not stand a chance in a tournament.
Sure, I could organise a team, we could all get on team speak but then we would be destroyed 500-0 several times before being awarded the wooden spoon for coming last…
I want to compete against other players who are on roughly the same level as me for reasonable rewards, what’s the problem with that?

Without SoloQ I would not be doing spvp every day.
I started pvp when I first started playing when you needed tickets paid, free etc and teams. I found it hard to get a regular team due to my play hours and all of my online friends being into pve and paying to PUG for a tournament was a bit lame.
So I took a break from it and cam back to it later and found the SoloQ worth the time in rewards (not so much right now while we wait for whatever is coming) and less chaotic than hotjoin.
Its not perfect, I get a lot of 4 vs 5 (either due to people not turning up or 1 person sitting out because someone didnt go close, theres 4 hambows, decap engis on the other team etc (way too many sulkers but thats not an issue for anet))
I still am struggling to get a team, have advertised and spam map chat or ask in matches for pvp guilds but nada. So removing more value or splitting the numbers on the soloQ would mean probably no pvp for me.
Before cries of so what, QQ etc, Im just adding another perspective to the discussion
There must be more in the same situation as me, as I always get a match in 10 mins or less…
It didnt used to bother me, until I learnt about the leaderboards and the win/loss factor affecting your eligibility for finding a team.
Sooo, I guess I would be happier if the loss didnt count on my stats. Tho I guess that would be abused by leavers, unplugging when they were losing. I also suppose that is countered by the lack of end of match rewards. If they get improved soon. /ramble

/aside I was lucky enough to buy a precursor for lots of gold, now grinding for 250 of everything is making me want to back to Aion or level a necro solo in Daoc (vanilla) so the idea of winning one is awesome sauce.

Short Version : Whats a Tournament, how do you take part?
Longer Version:
Been doing some sPVP for a few months now and was forum trawling and noticed the team rankings/tournaments/events areas.
So far I only done soloQ and the occasional pug teamQ, saw that there was competitive team play, which sounds cool. Wandered around the pvp area and couldnt find anything that would show me rankings, how to join etc? So any beginner guide, overview to tournaments how to enter what you need etc? Pretend like I know nothing about it, in fact dont pretend.

based in the UK I play mostly around midnight due to shift work, played a couple of team matches, but mostly solo queues. Got all classes so can adapt to fit a team. Have lots of experience with mesmer in spvp, currently rocking elementalist and learning necro.

I have to agree with the side of the forum that is unhappy with having Items that they cant use, over the ones complaining said people should have read the forums.
I am sure I am not alone with having a number of items taking space in my bank (with all 7 extensions, which maybe why this facet of the game is unhelpful)
I personally come to the forums when I am looking for build advice, spvp news. I tend to go to the wiki more for info.
A list of obsolete never gonna be sellable items would be useful. There is a number of items I have trashed from previous events that have had their bound status changed and sold on BLTP.
A definite list, cross your heart and hope to die, would be good, and a vendor for said stuff.

If it is a % of mobs hitpoints then it is capped.
Example if the threshold is 5% of the mobs hitpoints then only 20 people can get loot. (20×5 =100%)
If it is a bug then great, maybe the “in-game” support will do something about it
similar issue that I posted on here but from a different angle.
I have seem gear kittens, (can I say that?) snobs then. As people here say ignore em or dont join em. The root of this problem now tho instead of needing great gear to be able to complete the encounter, task, event. You need it to complete for the reward and do 5% damage. If it didnt matter like it didnt before you wouldnt get grief for you gear in open world pve.
Positives : champion being worth while killing is great!
Negatives : 5% damage requirement plus high pop, farming community = bad imho. Anet can only fix the 5% bit, they cant fix the farming community or gear/build snobs.

having good gear and a great build should be a matter of pride, not derision.

The non holy trio of dps, tank, healer was what I liked about the game, but essentially what people posting bad build etc are saying there is only 1 role, damage.
The popularity of cursed shore on my server and the lack of scalability of the champions has pretty much killed those encounters for me, as I am sure even with my full berzerker warrior the framerate combined with how quickly they “melt” means dont bother.

so there is no cap on how many people can recieve the loot, which is good to know! If server transfer were possible again for free, maybe the populations can balance and the bosses can stay alive long enough for non pure dps builds to get 5% or whatever on the champs.

Tolunart, today is the first time, but then this is the first time I thought id check out the cursed shore champion run. Was fine until the champions merged their zergs, after that slow framerate, those at the back of the horde arrived to dead champions. Its probably a population problem then.
The threshold is a percentage of damage. What it’s there to do is this. If you’re fighting a champion and some guy comes along and takes a couple of shots at it and then leaves, hoping to get a reward….letting you do all the work…well that protects you. Otherwise, people would do the least amount they could for the reward. It sucks that we need stuff like this, but we do.
There are still people that will run tag stuff in a bunch of events, but finish none of them, thus getting credit for everything while doing minimal work. They make loot faster than I do. I just don’t care. I’m not going to scale up an event other people are doing for my own profit and then leave them to handle the problem. I don’t think that’s fair.
I tend to do those types of farms with my guild, so we’re all doing what we do, forming our own zerg so to speak, in parties, where we dont’ have to worry so much about thresholds.
For Events and for event completion I agree with you 100% for the reasons you have given. But for champions it doesnt make any sense to run off as your loot will fade away?
The effect of this change if your right about it being a % threshold, pretty sure i joined in late on Boom Boom in Pavilion and still got chest, just means that I wish I was on a less populated server or that I should only play my berserker warrior/mesmer in order to hit the threshold in time. This is pretty poor, which ever way I look at it, unless the group lowers the threshold considerably, its already a challenge to get to a champion in Cursed shore in time, and that’s while following a commander as best I can with slow load screens and WvW on release like frame rate. I wasnt alone probably the only one who could be bothered to post
OP, it’s not competive. You’re not competing with other people to get the top score. As others said, you simply need to meet a minimum threshold of damage. It does help a lot if you’re in a party, because the damage threshold is lower.

Being in a party helps in the mechanic.
Obviously in terms of mechanics if the mob is alive longer with less people you reach that threshold. This could be what is happening? people on the server mentioned what I said in OP, hence me coming to forums for more information.
I was doing enough damage before others joined the throng. I am doing 900 a hit on shortbow for about 20 -30 seconds before mob falls, looking at combat logs. This is not just tag and run, I am taking part but I am not a dps spec, I have other characters for that.
Colesy: I have plenty of zerk dps characters, what i am ascertaining if that I have to perform that role in order to do “soft” world pve. On Gandarra and Cursed Shore has got very busy lately.
Im a big fan of GW2, and for the first time I met something which is a deal/game breaker for me.
Whilst enjoying the world pve following a large mob run around and killing champions previously ignored but now worth killing I found something out (perhaps?)
Only the top dps % get loot!?
With a smaller group was getting loot fine, as the commanders merged (after some bickering on map chat) no more loot. I was on my hunter which I use mostly for support/healing (I know get a better spec etc) but basically this mechanic (if verified) is basically saying play dps if you want loot in large groups.
Not great imho.

we did jump puzzle and npc stopped half way up. We went back and checked all consoles, npc starting moving with us but just looked at console blocking progress did nothing.
