Thank you Cultrix for your input. I had a rough look at the wiki. It answered some questions. Now the only question remaining is how L38 boss and daily chest drop would compare to L30
Can any FotM experts explain to me how the loot scale vary between fractals within the same 10 level range? For example, I understand most people consider the 20-29 tier reward better loot (from monsters or boss chests, excluding daily chest) compared to the 10-19 tier. So here is the question: I am at L43. Would a L38 fractal have better drops than a L30? In addition, would a L38 daily chest have a higher chance on ring/skin drops than a L30 chest?

Sweet! Btw, do each guild member get that, or only the leader?
You get commendations from doing guild missions, anyone can buy them because the commendations are individually rewarded, the guild as a whole, gets merit.

If you identify them you can sell them for lots more than the few copper for unidentified ones.
Do you vendor your Unid. Dyes? Ouch.
To OP:
I actually experienced quite the opposite of what you described. Very often I find down scaled higher level players (I’m talking 20-30 above the zone level) joining an event, killing spawned mobs within 2-3 seconds before others even reach them. It is much more difficult to even deal damage to get the exp, nevermind qualify for drops.
I would say that the down-scaling isn’t low enough.
I liked every quest without Trahearne’s voice acting in it. Also, not having Trahearne’s voice acting in a quest makes it SUPER AWESOME even though it’s really just a bland story overall. I think it’s a planned decision by the developer. CONSPIRACY!
yes there are some decent aspects to gw2 but some players have their “fun” by digging deeper into various aspects of a game and have higher expectations. just because some of y’all are easily pleased by looking at pretty graphics, accept whetever is put in the game and swinging around your legendary in LA, doesn’t mean that everyone else should get off the forums, not provide input and just keep shelling out cash in the gem store to keep this game going for the long run.
Full agreement with Swagger.1459. Not quoting the whole thing to save space.
OP does not understand why people are complaining, here is to OP: People have their own viewpoints and what you find enjoyable do not suit them. Few agree with you and many don’t. I’m in agreement that I don’t need the best stats or looks to enjoy a game, but I don’t like wasted potentials, especially when I’m being artificially limited by the developers. Being contempt with a few things and being unhappy with limitations implemented just to up the gem store sales are both equally valid viewpoints. What “seems to be unlimited” isn’t so from where I’m looking.
Nowadays it’s a standard practice on the forums when someone is complaining about something or sharing his/her criticism on the game with the so called “nice community”, within the first 5 replies there will be: “If you don’t like it, don’t do it”.
I will agree on the fact that about 70% of these complains are nick-picking and at times incredibly shallow. For example, Legendaries, Ascended’s , just picking the most popular ones of course. You may think that the arguments (commonly the grind to get Legendaries, FotM’s ease of access to Ascended’s vs. Laurels) are invalid because they can just choose to not do it, you are an ignorant little cat.
Some may argue that the game is enjoyable exploring different zones: Doing the so-called dynamic event which actually is just a repeating loop of 3-4 quests; Enjoying the scenery which isn’t anywhere close to awesome if you’ve sampled a wide range of modern day games; The list goes on.
Let me share with you what I think. ArenaNet’s idea of end-game may be largely composed of exploration (scaling, puzzles) and others such as Wv3, PvP. BUT, there is absolutely no excuse for them to pit the players aiming for post 80 progression against DR for Legendary mats and a calendar gate for Ascended’s. Oh wait, I forgot, there is a gem store in this buy to play game (not f2p, at all… fact).
Legendaries could have lore behind them and each have an epic journey of quests across half, if not all the maps. Ascended’s should be obtained on the amount of content you’ve completed, not the amount of days you logged to do your world dailies and fractal dailies.
What players need is motivation, the drive to do certain things. Drive comes with unhindered experience. There are ways to achieve motivation without capping player progression. If you enjoy doing puzzles and exploring like I do, great, but overlooking the other half of the player base and telling them off? Pathetic.
If you don’t like discussions, whines and the subsequent flaming wars, go to reddit. Over there people just lick the developer’s backside to grind karma(i said grind, karma, hoho kitten sigh facepalm). FREEDOM OF SPEECH HOORAY! -only if no downvotes.
You like the game for the state it is in right now and post it, but I don’t, so I also post it. Will you “never understand” that?
I’m against this idea. Everyone would just go buy the Charr T3 cultural set (joke).
In all seriousness, the cultural armour sets give each race a more unique feel. The dungeon sets are bland enough already. Everyone I run into and their mothers are wearing CoF dungeon set.
Making cultural sets available to all races is a terrible idea.
Those sound suspiciously like dynamic events
The hell are you doing that makes it take an hour per day for your daily?
Underwater kills: About 5 minutes
Crafting: 1 minute
Gathering: 5 minutes
Events: about 3-4 minutes total
Dodges: 2 minutesExcuse me for not laying it out better
Monthly. Like I said its a rough estimate. 20 days of 1 laurels + a monthly 10 laurels = 30 laurels for the amulet.
Also, I can’t do 5 events in 3-4 minutes.
Actually I agree with wasabi. Maybe a little longer on events. but not by much if you’re just doing speed events. For example I know where all events are in queensdale. So I can waypoint hop quick. If Barthol event is available the starter is right next to the waypoint. I can /map Barthol event, start it, and hit one of the centaurs when he moves out. As long as there’s another person or two that responds to what I said in map that’s all I need. I can waypoint out and move on to another event – let the other players finish that event off. This can be said for pretty much every event. You don’t have to stay and do the whole event if you know other players will finish it up.
Also, monthly barely factors in at all. The only thing that takes time for monthly assuming you’re doing dailies are the 5 dungeons runs. So do 3 ac paths, 2 cof paths (or more AC) and you’re done. The other aspects of the monthly will easily be accomplished through doing 20 dailies, or pretty close.
- Underwater kills: About 5 minutes… agreed. about 5 minutes just east of queensdale garrison in that lake. kill whites and things along the shoreline too. As long as you kill something while in the water it counts.
- Crafting: 1 minute… the crafting achievement is basically the travel time to get to a station – that’s all. I usually log out in LA so yeah it’d be about a minute for me as the last thing I do.
- Gathering: 5 minutes… or less. This can be tied in with events. Since you’re waypointing and moving around some it’s easy enough to just spot some nodes and gather them as you go.
- Events: about 3-4 minutes total… Already explained this.
- Dodges: 2 minutes… Maybe a little more than this but the troll champ / grub cave in queensdale is great for this. just agro 3 or 4 and move away enough that they’ll all use their ranged attacks at the same time. Dodge through them for 3 or 4 hits, repeat. Also since there’s two events that take place in this cave often, it can be tied in with the events part of dailies.
I logged in for 30 minutes today. I started in LA, chatted with guild for a bit, went to queensdale and rushed daily, went back to LA to craft and do TP stuff, then logged. I usually play a lot more than that but I have other RL stuff to do.
Oh dear, not this again. Ok man, you were right and I’m sorry. I was wrong to say 1h per day. I’m sure many have worked out their unique spots and pattern that enables them to their dailies in under 30 minutes. Can we discuss about the fact that it still takes 20 days of uninterrupted daily logins which is the actual topic? What’s your Pro and Cons on this?
I agree with the OP. It would be absolutely awesome if instead of a daily per day, we would get a contingent of 7 dailies per week, doable at our own leasure. I’d probably do all the week’s dailies on the weekend in that case, and not miss out on anything.
That would be fantastic. A 7 tasks per week sort of thing.
Something like 7 tasks per week. Doable at any point in time. – An idea stolen from another user.
I think if it bothers you, then don’t do it. It’s a game, above all we should play these things for fun.
Dailies aren’t a big deal, if you’re looking at it from a ‘lost once skipped’ viewpoint I think that’s the wrong way to. Play the game: If you complete your daily whilst playing it then great. If not? No big deal. Ascended gear are not needed at all in game unless you’re in the Fractals a lot I hear. And if so, well you’ll get your equipment in other ways, right?
And yes, while I’m generally against yet another form of currency being introduced into the game, for what it is I think it’s an okay start.
I agree with you. Dailies didn’t bother me much either, just slightly now that there is another scarce resource attached to it. Just makes me wonder: Why dailies, not something else?
The hell are you doing that makes it take an hour per day for your daily?

Monthly. Like I said its a rough estimate. 20 days of 1 laurels + a monthly 10 laurels = 30 laurels for the amulet.
Also, I can’t do 5 events in 3-4 minutes.

I’ve made a similar post as a discussion. Also posting it here in the form of a suggestion.
What I propose is a weekly laurel cap. Attach the laurels to something other than dailies and put a limit per week instead of per day. This way we can still make up for the laurel loss when we need to skip a day.
1. Remain calm.
2. Hear me out.
3. Share your thoughts.
The new patch brought the laurel system as we know. With it the new ascended amulet. By a rough calculation it would take 20 days to obtain that single item.
What bothers me is that it requires an uninterrupted 1h per day (time for daily + time for monthly roughly divided across the 20 days) x 20 days streak. I am fully aware that the developers have more ways to obtain items planned out for us in the future. But is this a good start?
What I’m trying to say is that a little flexibility would be nice. I don’t think binding laurels to dailies that are lost once skipped is a good idea.
Would it be better if we had a weekly system?
[EDIT] I apologize if this sounded like I’m looking at it as a chore. The point I’m trying to get across is that perhaps there should be a more flexible way to handle laurels. Like something else other than the daily quest, with a weekly cap sort of thing.

No. Here is why:
1. Currently there is only one and a half 80 exclusive zones (SSC isn’t much of a zone). With everyone kittening about no endgame. I’m surprised that Anet even considered raising the cap further.
2. Raising the cap further will inevitably end in new gear hunting. Purchased exotic dungeon armour sets will become obsolete with a new level cap, sending players back to grind tokens again for their higher level variants. . They can raise the level on gears(maybe with a tier 7+ mats MForge recipe), but why bother with raising the level cap at all?
3. Considering the time it takes for Anet to generate something new and get it right, raising the cap would be the last thing on a to-do list. It is an additional factor that may disturb the game balance futher(materials, scaling), and that would take another eternity to test and balance. I would expect BONUS major kitten-ups should Anet decide to add another few levels.
4. Story and gameplay innovations can be achieved without level progression.
5. All of the above are my personal thoughts.
tl;dr: 80 > 80+
Not dead. But the population did fall down to the same level of most well populated MMO’s – RIFT, SWTOR, LOTRO etc.
However it is a new MMO in a sense that not much got carried over from GW1, but it isn’t an expansion so it makes sense.
My point I guess is that it’s a new take on the genre and/or franchise with a few fresh innovations, it will grow, eventually.
It’s not dead and nor is it very much alive. Please don’t bash me for what I said, take it like a mature person.
Get technical and specific all you like. For me? bottom line is I have to wait less than 24 hours. I might live a day longer than all of you because I do not get worked up by any of you imbeciles and waste my time arguing over the internet. Peace out.
P.S. Well I guess I might get hit by a bus and die young, but you get my point. Be calm and think straight, what’s the maximum consequence of a single day’s delay?
It’s important to maintain a balanced diet, here is me gathering herbs to craft a bowl of salad.
What makes Grenth so important (on my server – Far Shiverpeaks) is that the fight can be turned into a farming spot.
1. Aggro boss and get the ice elementals to spawn.
2. Keep the boss busy.
3. Farm the infinite number of spawned Ice Elementals for Claws and Lodestones.
4. If any player wants to complete the event (i.e. Priest of Grenth is on low hp), shuffle towards Jonez and get him killed.
5. Rinse and Repeat.
Just my feeble attempt at trying to get everyone to do it, so ANet can pay some attention to this exploit that existed since launch.
