Look at the arguments.
Raids is supposed to be about skill and learning the raid mechanics.
What is the point to gear then? Is raid about gear collection? If yes, then fine, this current system should stay.
If gear is not important, then why bother having gear? Give everyone spvp amulets and weapons. Then it’s all about group composition and how you synergize skills.
There are already silly arbitrary restrictions on items. If raids are difficult to design around all combinations, why not just impose spvp rules?
Why? Raids are supposed to be about skill and all that?
What’s gear for to do with it? Or is it because raiders don’t just want raids to be about skill, but also something with a high bar entry point to deny most at the chance to raid?
If we want to take gear out of the equation, it’s simple.
Make all gear in raid instances the same as spvp. Nobody has gear. All has 1 amulet giving everyone 1 point in all stats. Now it’s a skill game.
Healing through it seems to be brute forcing through it. CC seems like a waste, not to mention the cooldown incurred on the CC in case you need it.
Somehow, it feels like there must be a trick to the red orbs that we haven’t figured out yet.
I would like to find out, how do your raid groups deal with the seeker orbs?
Do you just rely on pbaoe knockbacks? Is there a trick to them?
The problem comes with a game that tries to be all-inclusive(hearts, monster steal killing, group events) and suddenly does an about face to become exclusive.
Most people don’t have the time, will or resources to re-kit themselves like the hardcore grinders. Just look at Arah throughout the lifespan of GW2. The popularity of Arah would have given everyone a distinct clue to how popular the raids will be.
Somebody out there must have enough imagination to come up with something better than a timer.
If that’s all we’re concerned with, then the answer is sure. They could spend further development time and effort implementing new skills that the bosses get when the enrage timer expires and make the wipe mechanic work that way. The crux, though, is that it requires development effort, and I don’t think it’s a worthwhile use of development effort. I’d much rather they work on more new content.
If this timer causes the raid content to be appreciated by only a few people.
Don’t forget, if people can’t get past the first boss, you can make 100 bosses inside the raid dungeon but most won’t ever see it. That is truly an epic waste of development time.
This is a problem with all maps in GW2, and the HoT maps will be no different. Many people have requested that the difficulty should scale from soloable to multiple people but there are too many who hated the idea of HoT content being soloable.
The raids merely gave us a quick taster of what the future will be.
I’m sure they created the task to fix this. Just probably at the bottom of the priority pile, like wvw has always been.
The expansion is $50.
I don’t see any double speak about it. I don’t foresee a price drop till many months later.
Significant power increase for us arcane eles! No longer will we lose stats in that line.
With the new system, can you take 2 masteries or are you forced into taking 1 master and 1 grandmaster trait?
I find the grandmaster traits rather lackluster especially in wvw settings.
Maybe someone has ideas of dervishes and dust storms?
Tempest can be so many things in so many cultures.
I’ve been trying a few different tactics to try and prevent the retaliation blob from killing me, but every method seems to be more about cutting down your efficiency.
However, how do other professions seem to not really bother about retaliation? I tried a guardian with a 1-to-the-death staff and I never even seem bothered by retaliation.
Just would like to throw this question out there.
To all of your staff eles who play in WvW, how do you mitigate against retaliation? In particular, a blob who constantly stacks retaliation.
A simple meteor shower on a retaliation stacked blob is enough to send me running for heals and ice storm from an ice bow will usually down me. It’s boring always having to run the usual water/arcane stacked builds, but are there any other options?

Lightning Flash: This skill will no longer activate if a valid path to the target point cannot be found, except when acting as a stun break.
Someone enlighten me. Stun break on Lightning Flash?
Everyone, please remember: Thief and Stealth are 2 separate issues.
Stealth as a mechanic is stupid and overpowered.
Thief is a horribly terrible profession that is leaning on a overpowered mechanic.
Fix Stealth and Thieves will finally be recognized that they need severe help.
Soooo…….what can the snowflakes be used for now that Wintersday is over?
20 per boss is not a zerg? That requires 80 for 4 camps, or 60 for 3 champions. Can you count those numbers in any of the other maps around the world? When the living story moves on, do you think you can muster those numbers in the Silverwastes?
The whole map’s mechanics are based on large zergs. If you look at all the other maps in Gw2, the future of the Silverwastes is a very bleak one.
Good luck to future players who come in and want to start doing Silverwastes content in the future.
Adding fuel to the fire, you accidentally die while fighting the centaur swarms(chain knockdowns from the centaur charge) and the achievement buff for Dodgy Crowd disappears.
What’s the first part got to do with Dodgy Crowd anyway?
I can’t shake the feeling that while allowing a 4th utility will be nice for eles, it might be a bit too great for certain other professions.
Collision detection, it solves so many problems inherent in so many of the game modes in gw2.
Problem is the potential griefing possible by “blockading” stuff.
Really ambivalent.
In WvW, I definitely felt very badly nerfed. My damage went down a lot, my boon duration build got smashed and I am really at a loss in experimentation on what I should do. I still get eaten by thieves for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack. Aquatic benevolence is a pointless trait. It’s merely a “win more while you are ahead” trait. If your Zerg can blast in a water field properly, you were never lacking in healing power. If not, you just delay the inevitable. Cleansing water is just much much stronger.
However, I went into sPvP and surprise surprise! Very different picture. I actually managed to do quite well! Partly due to thieves not having the kind of burst that they have in WvW nor the open spaces to reset if they are losing. I managed to match or drive off warriors from points, which is a marked improvement. It was an enjoyable 1 hour romp which I had with very little planning on my rebuild(0/10/0/30/30 bunker d/d with celestial amulet and strength runes).
So, I think WvW, we are going to have to suffer a bit. SPvP though, early days but hopefully, newer builds might show up or our old builds will see a major resurgence.
That’s why most speedruns always consist of 2-3 ele’s. But yea, underpowered.
You are leaving out a lot of details here.
Take your glass cannon ele on a dungeon pug run and it’s not as pretty anymore.
The biggest power creep introduced into the game was done by the devs when they introduced ascended gear.
Nobody asked for ascended gear or ascended stats. This power creep shouldn’t have existed because this wasn’t a game a vertical progression.
Ascended gear was not in the beta and I will not for a second believe that any form of balance testing was done with any ascended gear. If balance was not achieved via exotics in the first place, ascended gear simply completed the mess that preceded it.
Come April patch, this will be a lot of reexploration and examining of the runes again. For many, the boon duration rune combination of 2x water, 2x monk and 2x traveler will not longer be used.
This should most definitely be asked again when the balance patch is released.
This will half your chance at realizing your shots are being reflected.
For the Dec 10th patch, the devs repeatedly said that eles were doing extremely well internally and that we should give it a chance.
I am not going to believe the #elepocalypse until I see the final patch notes.

Just out of curiosity, in which context?
@OP: Engineers and Elementalists can already proc their on-swap sigils every cooldown, so the Warrior gaining this won’t be anything new… but with the current state of the War, it better be done in such a way that they don’t dominate the meta for /another/ million years to the next balance patch.
No. Engineers and elementalists can only equip 2 signals, while warriors can equip 4. Although I agree that engineers and elementalists will be able to easily proc 1 particular sigil every 10s with only 1 copy of that sigil.
The easy solution I think is to make on-swap sigils only start their cooldown after you swap out of it. But even then, you reduce it to 2 times in 15s for the warrior. :/
No, there is a difference.
Warrior with fast hands:
0s: swap to energy sigil
5s: swap out of energy sigil
10s: swap to energy sigil
2 times proc in 10s.
No fast hands:
0s: swap to energy sigil
10s: swap out of energy sigil
20s swap to energy sigil
2 times proc in 20s.
Big difference in my opinion. Unless the sigils only start its cooldown when swapped out, then I will agree with you.
With the new sigil changes coming, some people have already highlighted the potential abuse that might happen with Fast Hands.
There are many who are dismissing this as a non-issue but 1 sigil stands out for me and I wish to try and discuss this now, and hopefully avoid this becoming a major balance issue come balance patch.
Superior Sigil of Energy
- Gain 50% of your endurance when you swap to this weapon while in combat.
Essentially, warriors will refill their bar by 50% every 10s. This is 1 free dodge every 10s on top of whatever vigor and endurance recovery the warrior already has. This is another throwback to perma-evade.
Does anyone else see this as a issue or am I making molehills again.
So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: florence.1674
I give it a C.
The good
- Molten Facility dungeon was extremely good. Definitely the best dungeon ever made in my opinion.
- Marionette was very good as an event and for the community.
- Canthan Bazaar of the 4 winds.
The okay
- Queen’s Gauntlet
- Clockwork Chaos dungeon
- TA path 2 revamp
- Edge of the Mist
The bad
- Battle for Lion’s Arch – bug fest
- Karka Invasion of Lion’s Arch – meaningless lag fest
- Scarlet Invasion – meaningless zerg fest and farm fest
- The Bazaar of the 4 Winds minigames – nobody playing the games for the games, just achievement farming(and associated griefing)
- Toxic Nightmare Tower – a case of farm your achievements early or get left behind
The horrendous
- Ancient Karka event. If it wasn’t for the chest that gave 2 exotics, the bile that would have spilled.
- SAB World 2. Took everything fun about world 1 and left it in a box.
To me, it’s bad enough that that every living story release comes along with event stopping bugs.
However, more and more players I know are not only getting tired of the bugs, but also that each hotfix seems to punitively punish the players for outsmarting the devs and QA. Like the knights for example, devs obviously did not anticipate the players ganging up on 1 knight at a time. It’s not like there is no precedence for this. For training purposes, people ganged up on 1 head of the triple headed wurm. Clear warning signs to player behavior there not heeded.
And with achievements being buggy at the same time, people don’t feel that the game is equal to everyone(let’s not talk RNG please).
I think the real consolation is that new players will never have to experience the living story. There is no way to replay all the living story content, and may I add fortunately.
And yeah, on the Ele, I fully expect a lot of RTL whining. I’m all for reverting the nerfs on it, other than the range (1200 range is plenty for a movement skill). I still feel their CDI will be more focused than the Ranger one, though.
I doubt it. Elementalists are too different in the different game modes. Spvp builds are different from wvw builds which are different from pve builds. It will be like a triangular slider which buffs 1 game mode but nerfs the other 2 most of the time, if we go with the Anet style of buff something and nerf to compensate philosophy.
Or maybe succumb to the RTL whine. That’s universally heard in all 3 gamemodes.
Edit: just saw the Ranger CDI thread get shutdown. Bad form.
It has nothing to do with homophobia, and everything to do with finding it uninteresting. Tell me, do you think a lesbian or gay man finds watching hetero romances interesting?
I KNEW that someone would come along with a homophobic accusation, no matter how I explained it. I was hoping I’d be wrong, but I knew it was coming. Disappointing that you couldn’t take the post for how it was intended.
The point is, should it matter what the sexes of the 2 persons in a relationship are? You are being discriminatory and asking such relationships to stop appearing.
It’s a relationship between 2 people. Should it matter whatever the sexes of the 2 are? Claiming to not be homophobic when making a homophobic point does not absolve the OP from being homophobic.
Race used to matter to people when it comes to relationships. Do you think it’s acceptable to question the race of 2 people in a relationship today?

Your post is just saying: stop QQ, l2p. Also, you took the community for a bunch of idiot.
I think that summarizes my post pretty well. This is exactly the reason why hardcore guilds have problems finding good Elementalists, we all want easy mode and QQ while we got alot more potential.
If you want easymode go roll a hambow or whatever and kitten stuff by pressing 3 buttons. I prefer to kill easymode builds and be proud, and don’t try to tell me that’s impossible, cause it definately isn’t.
I disagree. Warriors and guardians have always formed the nucleus of all WvW zergballs. This has been from day 1, when warriors were considered gimpy with no sustain. The warrior in its gimpy state was considered hard to kill in a zergball then, the same applies to the ele now. You live because you are part of the zerg.
As for recruitment of eles, everyone has their excuse. It still depends on the player wanting to play that ele. If you think eles are strong, surely you should have no trouble asking one of the many warriors or guardians in your guild to swap to playing an ele?
And THIS is exactly what I mean. You’re all thinking you can easymode faceroll over people with Elementalists. Is that what the GW2 community calls strong now? You smash you head on the keyboard and you randomly press skills and you kill someone?
The skill level of players dropped very hard in my year playing GW2. Elementalists are a potentially really strong class IN THE RIGHT HANDS, as is EVERY class ( obviously every class has their strength and weaknesses, that is inevitable ). Elementalists are very hard to master, but once you’re there on that level, you will see what I mean.
I evade the sPvP/tPvP debate, because I know how we’re standing in PvP. It’s ridiculous.
I really fail to see the point you are making about eles being strong. All you have proven is the WvW meta is the zergball, and due to engine limitations making the zergball so effective, you therefore become “strong”.
That’s the strength of zerging, not the ele. The Zerg is masking your perception to the ele’s weaknesses.

Same here.
Mariner, Lighthouse and Ogre all don’t seem to work. I haven’t even seen the Moas ever start.
Agreed. Thought they learned with The Marionette fight…. Guess I was wrong.
Beginning to feel that was a stroke of luck. I am so disappointed with this patch.
Skins and zergs in this patch. Anything else?

At the moment, this is the mother of all zergfests patch….
Dev time!
1. Ranger – because sword is messed up, pets are messed up and bows are weak beyond compare.
2. Elementalist – because their profession mechanic hurts the class rather than benefit the profession. And the whole design aspect of the profession being glassy even when built to be tanky.
3. Thief – because stealth as invisibility is an old and tired MMO trope which needs to die. But once you remove stealth from this profession, you see the rotten state of this profession.
Wait for the full patch notes? What are we expecting from the full patch notes? An undiscovered pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Dec 10th should have taught us all a lesson. That preview is most of the meat we will get.
Feedback must be given now and not any later.
Marionette should be permanent. Wurm is not liked by many.
Living Story only or not, this is very little Living Story even.
Some people probably hyped themselves up too much, but let’s face it. Very very few likes Scarlet Briar. Most people want this arc to just end quicker and move on. It was 1 month of not much to do(this Wintersday patch had less to do than last Wintersday). People wanted more, they got this.
Expect a wave of disappointment.
Collision detection and no player clipping will solve many of the current blob problems.
