Guild Wars 2

The guild now has a 5% discount on using all waypoints throughout Tyria. We continue to upgrade our Guild Hall with the long term aim of getting “Further Expansion” unlocked in several months time.
We welcome further interested players to contact us in game if they wish to join our guild and share our outlook.

Our guild has come a long way since the re-build started about a month or so ago. The guild hall is now over half way to level 40 (the maximum level) and the Arena within it has completed restoration 2, thus enabling guild members to test themselves out against each other in the confines of our custom arena.
We are still open for new members (returning players, new players, and those looking for a guild) who share our outlook and philosophies. Please contact us in game to talk further and for an invite.

More resource nodes have now been set up in the Guild Hall, and the decorations keep on building up to make the place look a lot better too.

A couple of resource nodes have now been set up in the Guild Hall for our members to mine and chop in to following a terrific week with guild mission successes. We welcome any further contact from players who share our outlooks and want to be a part of what we are building here.

We remain open for recruiting to newbies and veterans alike; those who are looking for a low pressure and mature environment to share the game with others are very welcome.

Three and a half weeks in to our re-build, we have been upgrading our guild hall with the first tier of enhancements. Additionally, our members have been “claiming” a few of the houses around the Hall to decorate themselves in their own styles, and to add to the overall ambience.

We are not a big guild by any means, but we are very happy to expand our membership for players who share our outlooks.

Barely a couple of weeks from starting our re-build, we have now successfully claimed our guild Hall in the Lost Precipice. We are systematically building the guild hall up with upgrades and decorations.

Coupled with the announcement of the second expansion (Path of Fire), we seek to grow our membership base further in time for this new content. But we are not just after anyone — only players who agree with our philosophies and background (mature minded players and no dramas, since we have limited playing time).

• Coaching and advice: Many of our members have a large WvW rank and Achievement Point total (including in the top 50 of all Gandara). Collectively, we can advise new members on almost every aspect of the game and we’re happy to have players new to the game on board with us.
• No elitism: We’re not going to force you to play a certain class or a certain sub-build of a class for our raids. In addition to the May 2014 posting, above, we are seeking a Mesmer for UK prime time for our havoc group work.

Regardless of this “want”, we remain willing to accept any class and any skill level. The only proviso for joining our guild is that new members must be mature regardless of actual age. That means no dramas because we have too limited a play time for such things. We are not the largest WvW guild in Gandara, but we will expand for mature members.

May 2014 Recruitment and Update

[Alph] has rotated its guild leaders this month – due to real life some of our long term leaders have stepped down, and others have stepped up. Our details have been updated on the first posting.

This month, we’re particularly interested in recruiting:

• WvW Guardians in UK and Au prime time;
• WvW lock-down and team-play Engineers in UK prime time;
• Players for fractal and dungeon runs during our (mid week) PvE runs.

Again, we emphasise that we remain open to ALL classes. We are not the largest guild on Gandara, nor do we aim to be. But we will expand our membership for more mature minded players.

April 2014 Recruitment and Update
Having transferred from Fissure of Woe to Gandara, we have been rapidly establishing ourselves in our new home: becoming part of the Gandara Alliance and re-building our guild influence to regain our guild bank and our regular +10% magic find bonus (amongst others!).

This month, we are open to recruitment for any Gandara player who shares our values (maturity, team work, etc.) and can bring their build to the fore in WvW.

For WvW, we would especially like to recruit:

• British or EU prime time Thief players, built for both group play and roaming ahead of our groups (especially burst / spike builds);
• British or EU prime time Mesmer players built for group play;
• Australian prime time Necromancer players (particularly AoE builds or power builds).
• Either timezone Engineer players built for group play (“lock” players and heal utility players in particular).

That said, we are open to ALL classes regardless of your build or physical location, so long as you are able to abide by our maturity policy. Hammer warriors, healway guardians, rangers of any type, staff elementalists, etc. — we will work with all classes in WvW. If you have a build you love to play, then we’d love to have you play that with us and see how we can integrate your builds with our own to optimise our outcomes.

After having been on Gandara for a couple of days, we’ve been getting a number of enquiries.

To clarify and address the most frequent question: YES, we are most certainly still open for recruitment.

And yes: we are still only interested in mature-attitude players – nothing has changed on that front – the only thing about the guild that has fundamentally changed is the server that we are now based on.

Had a great guild run everywhere but in our own borderlands this weekend. Got taken aback by the numbers that Arbor sent after us several times! December 2013 Recruitment
[Alph] remains open to potential new recruits of any class. Following the first season of WvW, we’ve enjoyed facing off against new and old opponents and tested ourselves against many.

Post-season WvW, this month we’re keen to recruit:

• Crowd control characters for WvW: Not only does this mean the typical archetype hammer warrior, but any other classes such as necromancers, etc., who can affect a maximum number of targets with debilitating conditions and stuns.
• Support and balanced guardians for group play (both WvW and in dungeons plus fractals).
• Rangers. Seriously: many people regard them as weak in WvW, but we want to make them work. Ever hit (or been a part of) a surprise attack conducted by 5 or more rangers in a pincer movement? We want to make it happen much more often as its fun when a supposedly weak class outclasses everyone.

Both Australian and UK/EU timezones are especially welcome.

November 2013 Recruitment
[Alph] remains open for players of any class to join our WvW and PvE activities.

This month, we are particularly keen to recruit for WvW the following:

• Firstly, we are keen to recruit “burst builds” characters to expand our WvW ranks. This clearly includes the usual suspect of a burst thief (d/d or d/p), but we’d also be interested in other classes such as immobilisation-then-burst engineers, huge damage-potential-in-little-time warriors, and certain elementalist builds (e.g., s/d fresh air builds focussed on high dps and critical damage).
• Secondly, we’d also like to recruit characters designed for crowd control. The usual suspect in this case would be hammer orientated warriors, but also necromancers, etc., who can affect a maximum number of targets with debilitating conditions and stuns.
• Lastly, we are also keen to recruit more staff elementalists for their vital role in WvW (laying down combo fields, large AoE capabilities, and support).

I wanted to respond to your post as I can see that you’re fed up of the long queues and lack of coverage. Our guild, [Alph] is based on the EU server, Fissure of Woe and has almost no queues – ever – since it is a low ranked server. Moreover, we are a mature guild with many professional working folks and parents who also don’t want to queue as they have precious little time. Our membership comes from Australia and the UK/EU. Hence if you play in UK mornings during your changing shifts, you’d be more than welcome to come join our raids in to WvW. We have lower numbers in EU prime time compared to Au prime time.

Even in Australian prime time we (FoW) are still outnumbered – Drakkar has excellent numbers and clearly lots of early-risers (assuming most are Germany based) even for [Alph] to battle against. Good work Drakkar- our guild is liking the challenge, despite the numbers (we’re figuring out how many times our own number we can truly handle; occasionally surprising ourselves!, and trying out a few new tactics).

Are you a Fissure of Woe PvE player who wants an introduction to WvW?
We’ve had several new (to WvW) players join us and [Alph] is more than happy to help give you guided tours with our guild runs in WvW. Our peak plays in WvW remain in Australian prime time (UK mornings), although we also run in EU peak times in lower numbers. Men and women wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant dangers. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success.

On behalf of my server mates, and the dedicated WvW guilds on Fissure of Woe (http://gw2fow.enjin.com), we’d like to extend an open invitation to join us. With the introduction of the randomized match-ups, Fissure of Woe worked its way out of the lowest EU tier and since has been placed in t7, 8 and 9 of late. We are actively seeking out new members for our existing guilds both within FoW, and externally, as well as potentially new guilds to transfer to FoW given the cheaper gem prices currently on offer.

As a server, the FoW community is small in comparison to the larger high tier servers. But we know each other and have worked together for a common cause for a long time now — indeed, newcomers will find that they get known quickly and can earn a lot of respect through their actions. In addition, being on the lower servers means that there is almost never any queues for any borderland or EB, and you can use skills other than “1”(!). Moreover, the tactics employed are more than just blobbing and zerging. Roamers and small havoc squad action can readily be found on all the WvW maps — and this is reflected in the array of the more well known WvW guilds in FoW that each have their own preferences and play styles. We’re encouraging each WvW FoW guild to post below with their own brief details.

I’m actually enjoying this match up! It takes me back many months to when we (FoW) were continually outnumbered and we had to adopt none Zerg stratagems. As my guild mates and I are fond of thinking: a map with nothing in our colour is simply a target rich environment!

With the reduced rates in place at the moment to transfer (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/preseason-sale-world-transfers/), we have received enquiries and a few new members from other servers. Indeed: now is probably the best time to transfer servers due to the historically cheap rate and the forthcoming WvW seasons. We might not have the numbers to win our WvW league, but we’re going to go in with our heads held high regardless, and some strategies under our belts.

Our guild, [Alph], may be exactly what you’re after. We are an Australian founded guild on the EU Fissure of Woe server (with UK and EU members too, but still Aussie in the majority). Our membership is mature – I don’t mean age by that (but certainly we have plenty of Mums and Dads playing / folks in their 30s, PhD educated professionals, etc), but rather we strive to create a good atmosphere in our guild through working together and not berating each other — i.e. no dramas. We focus on WvW, and PvE with weekly (more frequent usually) dungeon runs (incl. fractals). We use a guild website to coordinate and exchange tips / builds / and schedule runs (alpharius.enjin.com) and we have a dedicated Ventrilo server for use by the guild.

We are a mature guild who have strived to create a good atmosphere within our guild that is free of “drama”, etc. There are many 30+ players with real life responsibilities, coupled with mature-minded younger players in [Alph]. Members come from diverse backgrounds: Ph.D. educated professionals, lawyer interns, undergraduate students and a variety of others. We have members ranging from casual and occasional, to frequent and experienced, from folks just starting out, to higher levels.

People gonna hate on your videos. No-one likes to see themselves getting owned!

As one of the people getting stomped and owned in the videos, I kinda liked to watch it(!) – yeah I know that could be interpreted as being a bit strange, as it could damage public perception of me or even the guild. BUT!: It was fascinating to see the plays on the other side of the fence (so to speak) and study where I/We potentially went wrong or missed a beat. Therefore, to me, the videos are extra intelligence to be learnt from…

Our guild maintains our recruitment search for new members for both WvW and PvE.

We are particularly interested in hammer specialized Warriors with high dps and/or durability, and Guardians (healway or other balanced and support) for our WvW teams.
