I hope we get main hand axe which can supply use with sustained dps. I feel like our main hand weapons dont really pack that much of a punch so main hand axe could be a nice addition.
If they would do the following to hammer I and many others would gladly use it.
1: Reduce the cast time of the last AA to 1/2 second and get rid of the after cast, but take 1 pulse off of symbol of protection. (this would effectively keep the damage and protection uptime the same while making the AA much faster)
2: Reduce the cast time of the number 3 & 4, as is their way too slow.
3: Make it so you can move while casting the Number 5.
Until then its just something you have to bring while your bored to death spamming 1.
I Wish~
I’m not trying to be a jerk and i understand that you find GS more fun because I do as well, but its just for the raid encounter so whats the harm in just using the weapon set that can benefit your entire group? when you arent at a boss and are killing trash mobs you can switch back to GS but for the bosses it’d be ideal to use what benefits the group. Me personally I have every weapon available to my class because it’s good to be prepared for what might come. Just my 2 cents.
Also the meta can change as well so you never know maybe gs will be needed more in the next wing or they might change things. Or you could go GS/Hammer that way you get a weapon you like and a weapon that’s required.
its anets plan to weaken us.
Spirit weapons should be a crossbreed between Minions and kits. When you press it once it deploys as an AI minion, When you press it a second time it equips like a kit. Or forget the AI part and make them kits, That would be pretty bad kitten in my opinion.
Anet can give us axes and make those condi weapons.
maybe blue fire can both burn and chill =0? haha I’d like that. Though I also like the idea of it cleansing condis and burning enemies.
Yaaaa I like shield the way it is now, maybe some traits that add additional effects but other than that i dont want it messed with.
ive noticed sometimes when i try to break the break bar that occasionally nothing will happen, anyone else get that too?
Does the enemy have stability? For example between fractal 41 to 50 because of the boons you apply on Critical its pratically impossible to do any damage on the break bar.
Mhmm maybe that might be it
ive noticed sometimes when i try to break the break bar that occasionally nothing will happen, anyone else get that too?
I really like your suggestions Soruju.
1. Sword used to be good specifically for the multi hit reasons and just needs a slight rework because of terrain bugs etc hurting it.
2. I like the idea of adding a symbol to sword (only if it hits) but I am not sure how balance will work, especially seeing the way tankbuilds are going in HoT a weapon with no symbol is pretty bad investment. Just adding blind and fury is also a good solution.
3. And if they could make third skill move at same speed as GreatSword Whirling Wrath I think it would feel natural. Instead of a whirl finisher it is a projectile finisher and instead of bolts in all directions we get bolts targeted and we could anticipate directions to keep them hitting moving opponents.PS. To those saying we should focus on one weapon until that gets fixed you do not (in my opinion) understand how these forums work. We are not here to demand changes, and are entitled to get upset when they are overlooked, we are here to talk between ourselves and suggest changes. When it comes time to make weapon changes a dev will come and read though all the relevant and polite forums and make his own informed decisions. I will try to make a reference thread about this.
Ya i find it stupid that other guardians are trying to shut down threads to help our class because they want to focus on one thing at a time. If there’s a problem with weapons we should address them all at once and continue doing so until there’s change, not just do one at a time.
Sword 3 destroys projectiles but I think it would be better if it blocked them instead to synergize , more with our blocking traits. Also it does need work, the tracking does suck for it and it roots you as well so you have to pull off a bunch of combos if you even want to think of using it, and if they have stability then gg because now you missed it.
The auto chain does need work as well and to be honest the attacks are a bit plain, seeing some cripple on there or additional burning would be nice.
Is it me or does it seem like people are over exaggerating on how much gold they are spending on the Precursor Collection?
It depends on the precursor. Some of them cost more to craft than others. But it is still true that a lot of people are making up numbers when they say they spent over 1k, but only on certain pres like Zap. (i know cause I’m on zap T3)
Either dodge roll when you see it coming, or stability and walk out.
Just like how we have the Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery and the Pre there are Specific Legendary gifts. An example of this would be the Gift of Bolt. I was wondering if Anet was going to give us the ability to turn these gifts back into their materials. I had heard that we might be able to turn our gifts of fortune back into their materials but it would also be great if we can turn specific legendary gifts back as well. Anet if any of your staff are reading this I would like if you could consider this and hopefully comment to let me know which way you are leaning. I would appreciate it a lot and I bet a lot of other players would too.
I just wanted to clarify, When i said return it to its components I meant the very base components used to make the item. for example turning the gift of bolt into: 1 Superior Sigil of Air, 100 Icy Runestones, 250 Dark Steel, 250 platinum, 250 Mithril, 500 Orichalcum ingots, gift of Ascalon, 250 Bolt of Gossamer, and lastly 100 Charged lodestones. (All the materials required to make the gift of bolt)
I always tend to use Knights but that’s my personal preference.
You sure seem to know what you are talking about
I do know what I’m talking about. Not sure if you bothered to read my post or not. If not just take the time to do so now.
I run a Norn and I can guarantee we have a kneel animation. Which by the way is far more obvious than a humans.
See, this is the problem with DH players defending an obviously overpowered skill. They have no clue what they’re talking about. This is a norn casting true shot. Looks like every other bow animation. Don’t know if male norns do it any different so please post a screenshot if so.
Only female characters dont kneel bud, the males kneel. regardless if they wanted to change the animation then they need to look at the suggestions i made to make it more bad kitten looking, like a nuke. Other than that its fine and doesnt need a nerf, people need to stop wearing glass and complaining about getting rekked.
were u the 1 that posted that fate/stay archer pic, cause that’d be sick
Haha ya that was me.

Tier 1 Bolt – Intricately Carved Orrian Relic, the event is bugged out most everytime i’ve gone to do it, or it’s completed and you cannot talk to the npc. Also is kudzu tier 1 supposed to cost more than if you just bought the precursor outright? 40 spiritwood planks and 45 elonian leather squares … seems a rather stupid way to gate something considering this was supposed to just be a grind rather than a gold sink. I’d rather see you ask 500,000 karma for an item than that crap.
Actually its suppose to be a bit of both, the precursor collections arent meant to make it wildly cheaper.
you need to look in specialization collections
Anet i’m going crazy over here trying to finish my T3 Bolt collection. I have EVERYTHING needed to make Bolt, I just need to finish this last pre collection so i can progress. Please fix this, ive waited long enough =\ especially after ive realized that if I had not done the collection and spent an extra 200g I could have just bought it off the tp :’(
Though I have a zerk set My main set that I always run is Knights. I went into wvw early when I started playing and I didnt want to wear Soldiers so Knights seemed like the obvious choice. Still use it as my main stat choice till today. Knights armor with zerk trinkets and weapons.
me personally I like to have multiple sets of armor.
1. Having multiple sets fulfills the fashionista within me
2. Different stat choices to mess with (though with legendary armor coming i’ll have to get that too)
but ya my main set is an ascended knights set, I have a zerker set, and even a condi set. I’d say try and think of a main set you want to make ascended and work towards that, and then if you need other sets get them as exotic to save money.
[Spoiler] How to make that Eir scene better
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: merchantchuck.4875
I’d prefer if she actually tried to fight it off instead of dieing like a weakling, They made Eir seem like a weak punk to be honest =\
Some people havnt discovered the almighty dodge button, what a day for them when they do!
Oh man I just read a few posts….This is very sad. DH literally went from one of the most hated Elite specs to an alright one and now since its at an ‘okay’ place everyone wants it nerfed. I just can’t understand how some of these guys think when they make their QQ threads.
Agreed that for sPvP trapper runes are OP, as I never used it this nerf willl not affect my build, but I know a lot of rangers that use it in WvW, they might not be happy right now.
Ya I stated on a reddit forum that they had no place being in pvp and everyone down voted me because they wanted op stealth nukes to be a thing. I was really looking forward to testing it in wvw but I guess that wont be happening now.
It really sucks that a lot of utilities/weapon types become invalidated due to nerfs like this. its really sad.
It wouldnt crash and burn at all if we wanted the way they said it would be in regards to it being a journey, it can still have time gated stuff just if they lowered it a bit, like i said costs isnt such a huge thing its the process of making one that doesnt feel like an adventure, and they could make the quests hard as you progress, either way the system right now is cleary built for grinding, i dont mind some grind at all i really dont, ive made 5 legendaries and even before this system I realized it wasnt so bad and i enjoyed making a legendary but making a precursor is just ouright disappointing, if anything its easier making a legendary than making a pre at this point in my opnion at least
Well maybe they can make it more of a journey, im not against that, could be fun, However I don’t want the market value to decrease until its simple to get because every person we bump into will have them then. Need to keep prices consistent
The goal of Precursor Crafting is to allow incremental progress towards your goal (versus the old system wherein you only had 0% of 100% of a Precursor).
The goal was never to make them easier to acquire but rather to provide a non-random method.
Exactly this, I don’t see why people are complaining about having to spend tons of money on their pre etc etc. this system allows you to make 100% progress toward your pre if you keep working on it, not a cheap solution for skipping out on having to pay 800g on a pre from the tp. If you are buying raw mats from the tp at this point in time you are doing it wrong. HoT Just dropped, prices are in flux so trying to make it now when vultures are ready to prey on you is crazy (Unless you prepared time gated mats in advance from before). If anet decided to go the route most of you want, which would be to make it take Lonnggggggg to get but cost almost nothing then the precursor market would crash and burn.
I think they will probably tune down the crafting costs to make it more enjoyable and obtainable by casual players (Look at the HP change from 400 down to 250), it just take time to them to analyze and action on it.
I don’t think they need to tune it down. The market is just crazy right now. I’m pretty sure when they decided on these mat requirements they probably looked at precurser prices over a long period of time. Judging by that they determined the required cost to make a pre which would be either a bit less than tp prices. Like I said earlier HoT just launched so prices will continue to be out of wack for a while until the market manipulation and lack of materials settles.
An example of this is Ley Line tools which went from 25g+ to around 10g in one day. The market needs time to fix itself.
(edited by merchantchuck.4875)
I second this
Except for gift of mastery, it doesnt need to be undone. But the specific gifts for each legendary, like gift of bolt etc should be able to be returned to its components.
if anything they’ll just increase the cast time by 3 seconds just cause.
I’m getting tired of these pvp noobs coming into guardian sub-forum and begging for nerfs. Please go away and L2P. Maybe then you won’t get owned.
Bolt I: Same problem as everyone else, Loana wont give up the goods!
Guardian
Dragonhunter—Procession of Blades: Increased the cooldown of this ability from 20 to 25 seconds.
Dragonhunter—Test of Faith: Reduced the duration of this trap from 9 seconds — the tooltip incorrectly indicated 8 — to 6.
Dragonhunter—Dragon’s Maw: Increased the cooldown of this ability from 60 to 75 seconds.
And so it begins….
Bolt I: The Experimental Sword -Event Bug!
After collecting every item for the first tier of the precursor crafting process I have come upon a bug. Explorer Loana will not open up her shop, and it also seems like the event doesn’t restart. I’ve sat here for a few hours, so have others and it doesn’t restart and she wont open shop. It’s very frustrating when you are trying to progress with your legendary crafting. Some people have told me they were able to get the item after doing the event, however me and a few others have done the event and were not able to receive anything.
Anet Please look into this!
(edited by merchantchuck.4875)
Eir’s death was nothing but cheap character development for Braham. ArenaNet killed a character we love just to develop a character we hate.
I actually really like Braham. So when you say we you are referring to yourself and a select few.
Other than that I was depressed that anet killed off Eir, she was such a good character. If they wanted to kill someone off it should have been Logan. Just sayin.

maybe turn up your graphics and look again, i dunno just a suggestion. Some animations might be lost on lower graphics
I am having the same problem and it’s extremely annoying. I sent a report to anet as well as sent a message on reddit to a Dev, Hopefully they fix it quickly.
Lmao no don’t tell me this ;0 I don’t want to quit guardian ;(
Then Don’t?
im joking around man, i just want sword to be fixed
Anet don’t ignore us! Please fix our sword!
….Especially since im making Bolt… Don’t fail me please kthxbye <3Your Bolt will most likely be used on Revenant since they have the strongest 1-Hand sword skills/highest dps 1-Hand sword in the whole game.
Lmao no don’t tell me this ;0 I don’t want to quit guardian ;(
I also disagree with a leap on the Sword auto chain. As mentioned above, Rangers already have something like that, and it’s almost universally hated because of how hard it makes your character to control. I’d take our current auto chain over having to deal with something like that.
I think that the Sword really only needs simple changes to be in a good spot again, many of which have already been suggested here:
Sword Wave:
- Remove the “projectile” classification from the skill
- retain the reach of the cone and as well as make it wider to improve accuracy and range of damage.
Fairly self-explanatory. Not having melee autos reflected, having better accuracy while maneuvering around targets, and being able to strike objects properly are all basic quality-of life fixes that will make using the Sword feel much more natural. Otherwise, this is already a good auto-attack that’s unique for having 5+ hits per chain.
Flashing Blade:
- Apply the Blind instantly upon reaching your destination.
- Grant 3 seconds of Fury to allies within a 240 unit radius after teleporting.
Instant-Blind at your destination makes it easier to use this skill as a defensive reaction and can help the Guardian make clutch defensive plays. Right-Hand Strength helps make the Sword a critical-focused weapon, so giving it some source of Fury without help from utility skills or Pack Runes makes sense.
I would ask for a short-duration Symbol at your destination that pulses Fury, but given the usual rate of balance changes, minimal-effort suggestions seem more realistic.
Zealot’s Defense:
- Remove the root while casting
- Change the projectile destruction to projectile blocking for better trait synergy.
As it stands, using this skill can sometimes leave you in a worse position against projectile users because it allows them to gain distance on you while you cast. If we can move while using the skill, that also helps mitigate the poor accuracy it suffers from as targets get farther away. Changing projectile destruction to blocking shouldn’t make a huge difference now that our block traits have all been nerfed, but more internal synergy is always nice.
I wouldn’t really ask for much else on the Sword at this point. It’s a unique multi-hitting weapon that can be used in both power and condition builds, and it’s not really weak so much as it’s suffering from quality-of-life issues. Fixing those issues and giving it a couple small buffs would stop most of the complaints about it and make it feel much better to use.
Yes do this, give me this, although let me change one part (will be in bold)
Anet don’t ignore us! Please fix our sword!
….Especially since im making Bolt… Don’t fail me please kthxbye <3
I wouldnt like a leap on our auto, it would make it awkward and clunky to use like ranger sword autos.
I would prefer if they took the root off sword 3 and changed our projectile attacks on auto attack 3 into physical hits.
Anet seems to favor rooting guardians in place and keeping them slow. Pretty sad if you ask me =\
I would prefer sword 3 being unrooted over LB 2, i’m in the process of making Bolt and sword 3 is making me regret it LOL.
I wish i had some sort of sign that anet saw this thread, I want my fate/stay night animation ;0
I love how guardians have been begging for a good ranged option for years, most of them being suggesting longbow, and now that we get it people complain it doesn’t fit the class being so melee oriented.
It’s just baffling.
i would say its more of the way it’s been implemented than the weapon type itself.
This change hit me hard, im in the process of making Bolt to go with my Flameseeker and the thing is i dont really like guardian sword skills. They always felt clunky but which is why i mainly use scepter but Bolt was too sexy to ignore. Now revenant has the change I wanted for at least one of the 3 sword skills =\. This is a bummer.
