Why are mesmers up there? I guess in theory the aoe glamours could be good, but i mostly see mesmers just spamming shatters, which have a kittenty blast radius and require some huge sacrifices to survivability to be viable.

All eles have is aoe damage. Bunker eles fall like lead against condition-built characters with half a brain, and dps eles are just awful unless nobody sees them in the fight and they are free to rain hell.

The only good guardian build i’ve seen is one that has a lot of cc, and bunker guards can just be taken out by anyone with a balance of dps and condition damage with conditions taking precedence. Both engis and necros, in my experience, have no trouble making the most skilled bunker guard explode relatively quickly.

My best tip for you guys is to not make an Engineer.

I made one with the most damage build i could think of, and i do 2k dmg with my rifle on a bunker elementalist.. and it have only the gear shield to survive.

Spended hours on it, and 150-200g on gear but its just too weak in 1v1 situations ( vs pugs you kill them in 1 strike ) but i mean vs other lvl 80s with full gear and know what the skills do.

made it up to 70% crit chance with 98 crit dmg! But in the end its not worth to make one.

Im starting on a elementalist now, they can AOE, Tank, 1v1, they can do it all!

You spent 200g on gear and never once realized that damage isn’t the only thing that helps in pvp? In fact, focusing on damage is usually your demise. I win almost every duel i play, and my max hit is ~600 (crit). That’s not auto attack, either.

how long will it take people to realize that glass is probably the WORST spec you can play in this game? especially as an engi. If you stop looking at the numbers (i literally don’t care what i hit) then you’ll see eons better results. If you want specifics, just go any build with p/p, something like 0 30 10 30 0, rabid gear, and HBUS elixirs. It’s absolutely flawless in pvp, and is good for general pve too. You may think i’m not being specific enough, but it really doesn’t matter. this build is good no matter how you fine-tune it.

That’s not to say that there aren’t other good builds; there are plenty. This is just my favorite.

engineers can be very powerful dungeon support characters, can easily win 1v1s (stop with this crap about having to put in more effort. I suck at this game and i win way more 1v1s than i lose as an engi), have the ability to tank better than just about anyone, and can get nice bursts (i think glass is a horrible way to go no matter the class, but it’s an option). The only possible problem i can see with this class is a bit of weakness in some gadgets and turrets, and the bugs, most of which aren’t that bad.

But hey, if anet decides to give in to these empty complaints, i’ll take a few free buffs on behalf of my misinformed classmates.

Based on your other engineer posts I think this is probably inaccurate, but what is your condition damage stat? You stated you are a mix of stats so this is suspect to say the least.

My build involves stacking might with hgh, which adds to the condition damage. my base cd is 1330. With the might i get it is raised quite a bit.

We still have a few viable builds. I hate people who think grenade kit is the only good thing we have. I personally thought it was one of the least powerful kits.

I win, literally, statistically, 95%+ of the 1v1s I do. the only player i ever met who could consistently beat mhe was this thief who used the leap-back heal, a trap that summons a thief, and some other stuff that you barely ever see thieves use (first for me). I can beat ANY glass cannon (nothing to gloat about, they’re horrible), and i only lost to 1 guardian, a few mesmers (also good at 1v1s), no eles, no warriors, no thieves besides the one aforementioned, 1 REALLY GOOD ranger, who i later beat twice, and no necros (surprised? not difficult if you have 2-3 condition removals (i have 8+) and can keep up the pressure).

The important point of this post is that I’m not even good at the game. I click all my skills, i dodge at all the wrong times, i always end up with the enemy behind me, and i just generally suck. The build does all the work. Engineers may be bad at some things, but 1v1s are not one of them.

I’d like to mention that as i type this i am encountering 1v1s. The game sound is on, and i am “afk” in the EB JP. twice during this post i killed people.

I’ve been doing this every day for a few weeks, and i just keep racking up the kills. i think i might have spent 15s on repairs (1.3s each?) so far. Engis are meant for 1v1s. Stop arguing that engis are weak with your unsupported claims. There are a few builds that are completely viable in this game.

Mind sharing the build and gear setup you run in WvW?

Don’t want it to get nerfed, but i’ll just say it is a full elixir build, supply drop, p/p, running a very disorganized mesh of prec/power/tough/cond damage gear.

I’m almost positive that the build still has lots of room for improvement, because no careful planning went into the gear besides general guidelines, and i am constantly changing traits.

I have a lvl 80 eng my first true love but meh, on my mesmer as an eng your just free badges. Im on Sea of Sorrows and would gladly hand you a lesson in the short falls of eng. To be fair I did get killed in a 1v1 by a cond eng a month or two ago. I love engies and in larger scale skirmishs if I ignore (some) of them then I am hitting the release button. Other than that.. your shield.. your tool kit shield.. your invis when your still standing right there.. its just stuff till you die anyway.

I don’t use any of the three things you mentioned, but i do have to say that i lose to mesmers more than any other class. They are the only real counter for me. So if you have skill, you probably would win. Play on any other class besides that thief build i mentioned and i will win most of the time.

EDIT: you may have seen me and beaten me if you go in the EB JP. I’m the JQ engi who sits there at least a few hours every other day, sometimes every day, waiting for 1v1s. In a thief hood, wearing dark red, bright yellow and white

probably 1v1s. get the right build and you simply won’t lose.

condition engi = counter to everything. the only thing i ever lose to (including all other classes, glass cannon or not) is a REALLY good mesmer.

This only applies to 1v1s. Engis are the kings of 1v1s.

I don’t understand how you can be such a veteran of mmos but still be so bad at playing an engi. I seldom lose 1v1s (okay, good mesmers and REALLY GOOD necros are an exception), plain and simple. I’ve killed multiple commanders in wvw in 1v1s without even having full exotics. The two i remember most clearly were a human guardian and a charr warrior. I know the human’s account name was “white tiger” from prx when they were on sos, and the charr was from sbi. The guardian was a challenge, but the warrior was an absolute faceroll.

P/P is the best imo (it’s what i use) but i could probably be just as successful with a rifle power build. the class is fine, it’s just the fact that some skills, such as turrets, need some serious buffs. I just ignore the relatively underpowered stuff and go for the bad kitten builds which match up to or surpass those of other professions.

I support this. Although I’ve never run into this problem, as I never get good drops, I can see why it would be a huge issue.

Then again, I have no idea what repercussions it may cause. I could think it out, but honestly I don’t care enough :P

2. The orb in JQ BL has been glitched for hours. JQ should have 3 orbs right now (and would easily be winning because of that).
3. SBI doesn’t want to fight against BG, apparently.

So I’ve tried to load the EB puzzle maybe 10 times in the past 2 weeks, and it just goes infini-load on me and i have to alt+f4 out. Happens with no exception. I’ve played the jumping puzzle many times since launch, and only started having this problem after the previous week’s match started. The thing that worries me is that nobody else seems to have this problem…

running i5-3550 and a wd sata 3 7200 rpm
no problems running any other part of the game, and I’ve never gotten stuck on any load besides eb puzzle.

You could roll engi and have no melee but a wrench and a crobar, and then complain.

Great fighting the first day, but our server (CD) has no overnight presence. We seemed to be very equally matched during the eastern US daytime. When i logged off at night it was a stalemate with CD in a slight lead with more orbs and sm, and when i logged on the next morning we had kitten all.

Seems a lot of servers dislike IoJ and purposefully team on them. So glad I got off that server. While the community is great, we fight trashbag loser baddies week after week and it isn’t fun. Crystal Desert got kittenon in their last match, they shouldn’t be in first place.

wait… last match we had over 300k and the TC and DB had less than 200k… It was pretty decisive. If you mean when we got smacked by JQ 3 weeks ago, DB and JQ seemed to team against us, and it was even rumored multiple times that they had an official alliance. CD has nothing against IoJ and no connection at all with ET… don’t you think that both servers may be piling you because you showed that you were stronger in the beginning by taking sm and holding it for that long? Not to mention, second place is the worst position to be in, ever. You have 3rd trying to pull you into their place, and 1st trying to keep you from matching them, so you’re ultimately screwed from both sides. ET keeps taking our supply camps, so obviously they have a plan to weaken sm and take it for themselves. There’s no alliance to be had here. It’s actually a pretty large probability (25%) that two servers will go after the same one. After sm was taken, both servers needed a new goal to work towards, and both ET and CD decided to go after IoJ. Although the 3 corners are equidistant from eachother, psychologically, red seems to be in the middle. Therefore, it will be a more probable target. CD wants to beat down ET much more than IoJ in the long run, because they are statistically a much better server than either of us.

IoJ came out of the gates swinging, took castle and had a strong offensive. At some point in the battle CD and ET decided to work together on every borderlands. We went from first to last and were fighting to make a comeback. Its going to be a long week.

idk about the borderlands, but ET sure as hell isn’t helping us in the EB. They were basically what was keeping us from taking sm the whole time.

What they did wasn’t all that impressive imo, 3v9 (if that was even the actual numbers, i didn’t see that many honestly) that’s 3 per person. Killing 3 people by yourself is hardly a task in this game and isn’t even worth posting if ur holding all 3 orbs.

a 1v2+ isn’t easy if the people you are fighting are actually good. Even with the orb bonus, you should only be able to (mathematically) be equal to 1.15 players, while they are 2 or 3. If you had a bad kitten soloer running around, and he ran into 2 bad kitten soloers, he would lose.

I use it all the time after drinking the elixir, and I get swiftness more than anything else…

One really cool thing i noticed about it is a hidden plus in the trait that increases boon duration by 20% that allows you to receive 2 boons from it instead of 1 (yes, it normally only gives 1, always). I usually end up with 2-3 minutes of swiftness just from cycling stimulant > drink > toss >stimulant > drink > toss…

I’m probably going to make some videos in the near feature showing some nice wvwing… as soon as i get my full exotics.

easily one of the most powerful and THE most survivable spvp build.

I think every profession should have its own mechanic. Idk what they would be like, but it would add a lot of fun to the game. maybe a guardian could like hold a gate shut even after it’s destroyed without supply (until he gets aoed to death, of course). Or like Warriors are the only class that can damage walls with regular skills…maybe thieves could carry more supply…I’m on a roll.

Thanks for this. Glad to see that the entire server isn’t in on it, and were actually highly opposed to it. You guys were doing fine (at least in the eb) without any orbs, though, so now I’m kinda scared ._.

Well the good thing about being in 3rd is we get to decide who comes in first and seeing as how Dragon and CD are pretty much working as a team, one of them is gonna get the shaft when we pick who gets to win. So far I’m thinking we should let Dragon win since CD doesn’t seem at all concerned with their lead and is focusing us hardcore. Punish CD for ignoring Dragon and ensure they never make it to 1st.

you’re kidding right? a TON of CD members greatly dislike DB because they supposedly (and evidently) teamed against us 2 weeks ago with JQ. The last server we would team up with would be DB. The only reason CD focuses at all on TC is because they made it seem that they were the bigger threat. We had half of the DB side of EB and then TC took half of ours while we were occupied, so we turned our strategy to holding down TC.

So Far it seems to be a fairly balanced match. CD got sm, TC keeps getting into first with points, and db has 2 orbs although they’re in last.

It wasn’t an organized, diplomatic alliance, if that’s what you’re getting out of what he said. What really happened is JQ began to focus on us because we were in second place, and then DB, seeing us struggling with JQ, began to focus on us as well to pull us down and claim 2nd. We were definitely being (and are still being) ganged on, but it wasn’t like an alliance or anything. JQ still kills DB, and vice versa. Yeah, that’s just not true. You were being encroached on by DB for the same reason CD kept pushing East on JQ’s borderlands. It’s called PUGs.

Edit: Although, after the claims on the Guru forums of DB allying with JQ to wipe CD, we did have people want to just annihilate you after that. Can’t say I blame them, but personally I found it entertaining for CD to use DB as their excuse.

You must only play borderlands then. I didn’t mention this, because i thought it was pretty obvious, but this all occurred in the EB. Any server in their right mind would have done what DB did. We would have done it to DB if things played out differently. But in the first few hours JQ chose CD as their target and DB (VERY obviously) ignored JQ and went to our side. If you couldn’t see that this precisely happened, then take the blindfold off. Again, I’m not saying we would have won if this didn’t happen, because JQ was obviously better than us and DB may have been as well, but it is obvious, from the perspective of any of the three servers, that this happened just as I said. It is, as of my knowledge up to last night, still happening.

use a reflect projectiles skill. Like I’m an engi, so i use magnetic shield and they get hit with it. It is often hilarious and I find myself talking smack when it happens, because of the pure ownage resulting from it.

before reading this post, i didn’t know what the preparation for kill shot looked like. i thought it was just an instant cast…good to know that it’s not. If it was, we would have reason to say it’s OP.

i disagree with the snowball-effect statement. If two equally-skilled teams went at it, this would be true, but each team is not going to have the same skill level. So if you’re better than the other team, you’ll win.

No matter how serious of an issue this is, it made me lol

provide all the proof of purchase you can: maybe the date, 4-8 digits of the credit card used, original activation email, character name on the account. On the note of “original activation email”, If you have access to the inbox of the email that was used to register the serial code originally, then that alone should be good proof of ownership. add the card number and purchase date on top of that and i think you should have a pretty solid argument.

When you get the account back (which may take a while), be sure to make a new email SPECIFICALLY for gw2 (for example: guildobsiduswars2@hotmail.com) that you only EVER use for gw2 and NOTHING else. You have other emails for that. It is a worthwhile action. In the future, write anything that may be important (not just in guild wars 2, but in any aspect of your daily life) down and just stuff it in a giant folder called “essentials” or something along those lines, and put it in a memorable location.

Not trying to lecture you but after all of the crap you’re going through now I’m sure it is a suggestion that you’re willing to consider.
