Hey guys, I don’t have HoT yet so I’m not 100% familiar with the druid traits.
So my question is does Natural Stride give perma swiftness as long as you’re not afflicted with immob, crippled, or chilled?
Thanks in advance.

Just an update. After this last new patch, my network 5 issues are gone. Game is back to normal for me.
Same issue for me, this happened with the 3rd mini update after the main patch.
Using Globe isp.
I’ve been having the same exact problems too.

Im having the same issues with Error 5 too. Tried fixing but to no avail. This only happened some 2-3 days ago with the new patches.
If I try to go to another map by wp or by normal travel I would get error 5, now this is random. I tried with 2 other online games I have, with servers in the U.S. and both games worked fine.
I get the network error message when i log into my character who is in black citadel. I have another one in iron marches, now when I used that to wp just outside of the black citadel I got the network error message. Now, I only have 1 character in Labyrinthine Cliffs to play with.
Anyone else getting the Network Error message?
Im having the same problems too.
Full Zerk: 6/6/2/0/0, Signet Build with LB range trait. Take shorter LB cd and Moment of Clarity. For wilderness survival take Shared Anguish.
Rune of Strength and Zerk Ammy.
LB and GS with Strength Sigils + 1 Energy Sigil + Sigil of your choice.
Utilities: Healing Spring, Signet of Stone, Signet of Renewal, Utility of your choice, RaO
Pets: Wolf + Drakes, Spider, or another Canine, or Feline.
Can be very destructive in hotjoins.
Weakness: Against good mesmers and when fighting good necros at close proximity.
Also don’t get condi bombed. Most other classes go down easy including guard and warrior.
I main mesmer and ranger, mesmer for wvw and ranger for wvw/pvp. So here’s what I can say: firstly, is that PU and Phantasm mesmers are different, and secondly, Phantasm mesmers are very strong 1v1 (they can’t do 1vX very well), it’s an uphill battle for a ranger to fight a phantasm specced mesmer 1v1 because the phantasms hit very hard. Phantasms like duelist and swordsman can deal insane damage in a span of seconds.
Two strategies I regularly employ is use the longbow, keep the distance and apply pressure on the mesmer, while kiting the sword phantasm (the gun phantasm you can’t do much about). The other, my favorite, is run condi/bunker spec and condi bomb the mesmer, 2-3 cycles of condi bombing and he’s gonna fall. A typical Phantasm spec doesn’t have much condi cleanse because they have to run Signet of illusions, Decoy and Blink for their utilities, so they gotta outlast you while letting the phantasms do the work.
As for PU mesmers, well good luck to us rangers in wvw against a good PU player. PvP though PU is easy work for a well played condi ranger =)
Edit: Seems like you’re fighting a PU variant not a phantasm one. If you’re a power ranger it would be very difficult to beat one because they’re just gonna stealth and re-stealth while wittling down your hp. If you’re a condi ranger then they will have it tough as well. A PU mesmer typically runs 1-3 condi cleanses, which isn’t alot really. 1 from torch, 2 from heal if traited but their dmge would be a bit lower, and 2-3 from mantras if traited (but no one traits for mantras in wvw roaming). I myself run 1 condi cleanse from torch on a 24 second cooldown. The bane of a PU mesmer is condis.

This is off-topic but I’d like to say I appreciate these kinds of discussions about rangers, I get to learn stuff on how to get a lil better each time on my ranger.
You’re better off using another weapon set to complement your longbow.
Can I try to duel this build with a run of the mill condi/bunker build?
It would be nice if someone proficient at running this build can take my offer.
Im on BG and a member of wind. I’d like an invite!
I’d even hop on my ranger for wvw or dungeons, if we can get a ranger group going.
I’ve been using the mesmer for this wvw season though as I find it contributes alot more to the cause. But my ranger is my first love =)

5 man ranger sure sounds fun. And of course exponentially stronger than a lone roaming ranger. But what if you face a 5 man thief p/d-d/p (hard counter to rangers in my opinion), all those sic-em’s would run out. Might also run into a 5 man mesmer, now that’s scary.
But for the other 5-mans, warriors, necros, eles, engis, guardians, wont be too hard for a ranger group except maybe the engis.
I’ve got 1700 hours on my ranger since launch. Time spent: 80% wvw, 10% pvp, 10% pve. Sure it’s viable across all game modes but like many people posted before, other classes can do it better.
I’ve always roamed on my ranger because it took much effort to be successful. Even after all the nerfs I adapted like many others and continued to play ranger. But you know sometimes you get fights in wvw where no matter how close to perfect you play, you just can’t kill that other competent player on another class. The fight highlights how kitten the ranger is but you brush it off and keep doing your best. But after many of those fights and Anet not doing anything to improve the ranger, things stop becoming enjoyable. It gets frustrating to play as one because hey I got all these evades and they can’t kill me that easy, but I can’t friggin kill them either! Oh look a longbow, cool it’s got stealth! Rangers are kitten period.
So what I did was play two of my lesser used lvl 80’s- thief and mesmer and boy it made me think “why the hell did I ever waste my time on the ranger post-nerfs?”
My thief is a better roamer and my mesmer is even better because it can roam and zerg without changing traits or set-up! Game is fun again but I feel bad whenever I run into a ranger in wvw because I know that there’s no way they can beat a decent mesmer, there’s just no way. It’s like fighting a newborn =\
Rangers used to be awesome. Used to be.
With the sb range and pet damage nerf, fighting good phantasm mesmers is an uphill battle. I can’t even remember the last time I won against a good mesmer since the nerfs.
If I do fight a good one in wvw I play it gimmicky, only way I’d have a chance at winning is if the mesmer makes mistakes. If that doesn’t happen, I reset and try again, and if no opportunity comes, I bail.
Im curious, what’s a kid inkk? Anybody know?
Nice vid. Awesome play!

wanna roam with rangers =)
Like what’s being said here, ranger takes a lot of work and effort to be decent at.
Most of my time is spent roaming but on occassions I go full zerk with both invul utilities,
it’s tough but I think it’s alot more satisfying than my mesmer and thief.
When Im on my mesmer, I feel really bad when I fight a ranger because I know how difficult it is to play. I come across a decent ranger and despite his skill I can just go easy mode on my mesmer and still win, which isn’t the way I wanna play.
So if you want it easy look to another class, otherwise, try the ranger.
I saw that omen and cd gvg earlier. First 3 matches were going cool but then I think it was around the 4th or 5th match where I saw a sor engi jump in, then a few seconds later a couple cd’s jumped in, I lol’ed and thought it’s gonna turn into a riot. So Im guessing from the posts here that the gvg indeed turned into a riot? I left around the time I saw those cd’s jump in the fight. Would’ve been fun to watch the full blown fight between both sides though xD
At this point I am not asking for buffs or nerfs, I just realistically would like to know if any good rangers out there actually feel that they are capable of fighting a good condition damage dealer evenly.
Like what someone said in another thread, it’s an uphill battle. Speaking entirely from wvw roaming experience, I mostly end up running after I blow my cd’s.
Though I feel that if anet brings back the sb’s range to 1200, fights against condi opponents wouldn’t be as bad as it is right now.
Fann, they’re not that elite in terms of play. Those pugs you used to lead in sbi could wipe them easy.
I used to run almost the same exact set up(including traits) except for the sigils, signet of renewal and a couple jewelry. Im mainly a solo roamer and I had fun with this build.
Only hiccup I have with this is the 25 second CD’s on the spirits. There’d be times when I had to reset from a fight and wait till I can recast the spirits which broke the action for me.
But all in all this is one of the builds I had fun with.
Fannwong is such a class act. Helpful as always.
Gotta say I miss seeing his name on world chat. =)
Good luck out there sbi’ers!
actually for apoc , its better sword torch and axe dagger , more offensive , more burst .
I also use this set up from time to time. But I still prefer the good old s/d, axe/torch combo.
Ahh I see, made things alot clearer, In terms of gear should I use a mixer of Power/Precision and Crit with Power Pricision and Toughness too provide some in coming damage support – Thanks for the reply
I’ve been playing since launch and been through the different meta changes. Most of my time is spent in wvw and pvp, so I can share my experience about this aspect of the game.
Firstly, as a ranger I advise not to mix and match stats, just go for a certain build and learn its intricacies. For example, power/prec/crit won’t really go well with toughness because adding so would make your main stats less potent. It’s either be a truck or a race car, rangers can’t be both.
Secondly, I also play Mesmer and thief, granted both are fun and easier to play in my opinion as they both have utilities designed for survivability. But they’re not as satisfying to play as my ranger, being a ranger is like being the underdog.
So to reiterate my point, stick with a build and learn its intricacies and you’ll eventually be able to build a better ranger that would suit you.
I did ask PH Philippine Heroes to return home to SBI a few weeks ago when we were matched up with them but they said they were too attached to KNN. Where are they now anyone know?
They’re still in Kaineng as of the moment.
are you guys still open for recruitment?
I’ve been away for quite awhile now so I’ve missed alot of what has transpired in game.
I remember SBI being home to the fiercest collection of wvw pugs in the game. The best fighters I’ve seen and played with lb/lb. Always undermanned against HoD, JQ, and SoS, but getting things done all the same.
So I’ve been considering coming home but I mainly play during SEA time and I wouldn’t wanna play in a ghost town. Back when I was in SBI, there were few of us during SEA, it was just mainly wm and a few others jumping map to map. So how is the current picture of the server during SEA primetime? Are there SEA/oceanic guilds and players focused on wvw?
I can’t agree with you.
Toughness maybe is the king in sPVP, but definitely not in WvW, I would even say toughness is fairly useless in WvW.In WvW, Stealth is the king, Mobility is the queen.
Toughness is king in WvW.
I think he probably means stat-wise.
In response to Earendil, as things stand right now, kaineng is a young server with a heavy mix of untested players and veterans. There’s more of the former. Sure we have the numbers to compete but skill-wise there’s a lot to learn. As it’s a mix-match population, sometimes you see siege positions in keeps where only a few are needed to defend; most of the time though, you only see a couple arrow carts maybe and people are just happy to zerg back and forth. Of course there are veteran guilds and players that have a good sense of what to do in wvw because they’ve been going against top competition for so long, but from what I’ve seen the general wvw population in kaineng still has a long way to go.
What yaks are facing on every bl spawn gate. Cullings stopping you seeing the mass behind them. Sad, and theres a guy trebbing our spawn gate. thats a very bored kaineng team.
The screen cap gave me a good laugh. Yep they’re a bored bunch of kaineng players. 2 ballistas and 1 treb outside a spawn, and at that range too!? That is just so wrong…
People get too excited. No Kaineng won’t be the next SoS or hit no. 1 in NA let alone enter T1, just don’t see it happening yet. Things may change or may not.
It’s good enough to get into T2, that Im sure of.
Now stop with these hyped up threads, you’re making kaineng look bad.
Funny to browse through comments that show bitterness towards their fellow players. Hey I understand everyone is so passionate about their wuvwuv but snidey remarks won’t get your servers anywhere.
Let me lay it down for you as this is what’s gonna happen next week, Kaineng is gonna roll through T4, then it might hover a couple weeks in T3 depending on some factors while getting it’s glicko up for the eventual move to T2 where the server will eventually plateau. So to kaineng’s detractors, sorry to break it to you but your wish will have to wait a while because kaineng, as things look now, is upward bound. This on top of some guilds not having their full force in the server yet.
What I’ve picked up from this thread is that kaineng sucks, wm sucks, servers that beat us sucks because they’re zerglings, etc.
Well we won’t really know how the Mag and KC showdown will turn out until it happens.
Im sure both servers have good pvp’ers, every server have good players actually. It’s just that in the higher tiers, it’s a constant tactical battle of moving armies, moves and counter-moves, and small havoc squads creating diversions. That’s the bread and butter of high tier wvw. It might look mindless to the uninitiated and for those “zerglings” going along for the ride, but it’s the opposite for the good commanders and people in the know leading the charge. In the lower tiers, where you harp on about “individual skill this, individual skill that, you only beat us cos you got numbers, etc.” Well in the higher tiers where battles almost go on for the whole day with little room to breath in between fights, the mentality is different, it’s more about looking at the big picture; the countless good fights are just a result of that mentality. And there are as many if not more skilled players roaming in those fights than what you have seen in your entire wvw experience.
On topic, as of now, and this is just my personal observation and opinion, kaineng has good pvp’ers. Though the general wvw population is a work in progress, the ceiling is high for improvement. What’s going for kaineng is that they’re learning from some of the best and experienced wvw commanders with extensive experience in T1; as a side note, they also have the best commander from sbi in the server.

Yea Im having the same problem too after patching the game. I tried playing around with my settings but the fps drop wont go away. It’s very noticeable. And it sucks because I built a new system just for gw2.
Edit: I don’t get 2-4 fps but I drop down to around 15 fps. Before, the least Id get in battles was around 24 fps.
