I don’t think there’s word of god on the subject either way, but I’m kind of hoping this is functionally a DR replacement.
Like, instead of dungeons having an account-based reward of 60 token reward that gets progressively lowered by all these funky increments in certain timeframes, a dungeon’s base reward is x-number of tokens and once a day you get an account-based 60 tokens and some gold. That’s way less confusing, and it puts the rewards in line with other reward systems in the game.

Less confusing true and I’m fine with the gold being a once a day account wide thing, but by limiting the tokens to 60 once a day per path you would be greatly time gating the ability to make dungeon armor and weapons. Most dungeons are three paths and with 180 + some amount from bags assuming those still exist. That would limit you to roughly 200 tokens a day making it take far long to get a full armor set than it currently does.

Since the current system is tokens once a day per path per character you can stay in one dungeon with the focus of earning an armor set and make a decent amount of progress if you have alts. I assume we’ll find out on Tuesday regardless, but I was hoping to find out if this will no longer be the case.

The reason was written at the OP and expanded through out the thread, including refutation to similar posts like yours . You just need to read the whole thread and think about it a bit, and that includes possible objections to yours and others.

I did and there are some good points brought up in the thread, but what I’m pointing out is that if you want to run an alt in a higher level fractal you can. Nothing is stopping a person from running a character with a low personal reward level except their own desire for what basically comes down to as a chance for a weapon skin. Yes it’s nice to be rewarded for the completing difficult content, but I also think people are focusing a bit too much on their inability to easily acquire a skin and not enough on running a fractal with a character they think it’s fun to run on.

There has been a lot of emphasis on leveling an alt up through fractals being some horrible process, but if you keep playing with the characters you like in whatever level you find most fun they will eventually get there. If playing fractals isn’t fun then why is there a desire to level up alts to begin with? Yes it will take awhile and maybe that could be looked into, but to giving you tremendous chunks of level progression or making the reward account wide (which would probably make the daily reward account wide which is something I’m very much not okay with) is not what I would consider the best solution.

My solution would be an overall reward increase in fractals in general. Improve the individual fractal end chest rewards regardless of your personal reward level and leave the daily chest at the end of maw the only thing that scales based on personal reward. This way it’s rewarding to run higher level fractals even with a character of a lower reward level while you gradually bring your alts level up and the weapon skins remain prestigious.

I don’t see why this is an issue. You can play whatever character you want in fractals at whatever level. The only thing you are hurting yourself on by not having a high personal level is the amount of fractal relics you get and your chance at rings and weapon skins.

Most people who run fractals enough to even care about having multiple characters with access to the high level daily chest is already up to their ears in extra tokens and rings. Even if you aren’t all you have to do is swap to your character that has the high reward level at jade maw fractal and you only missed out on a small handful of fractal relics.

My necro is fractal lvl 3 and I felt like running it in the 48 I played the other day. So I played necro all through the 48 and switched at maw to my guardian which is personal level 49 to get the chance at the weapon. I had fun and this worked within the current system.

I want the fractal weapons to remain prestigious so I can feel good about using them. They are about the only hard to get weapon skins in the game and I think that adds something to them. I have put in a lot of work toward getting those skins and I don’t want that to be trivialized.

Posts like this make me wonder how did humanity get out of the caves. I mean, it was warm and fuzzy there.

At least explain your criticism. My point is I don’t see any benefit to making personal level account wide in the way the OP dictated. If you were to come up with a better reason it should be account wide I would consider it.

The gold reward to promote running unique dungeons is pretty neat stuff, but what does this mean for the bonus token rewards?

If you need a bunch of tokens for gear will you still be able to get the bonus rewards for running the same paths on different characters or will the daily bonus tokens become account bound?

I did a 50 a few weeks ago just to experiment. And yes the agony that applies at maw is specifically set high and does not follow the standard formula of all sub 50 level fractal agony.

You are dead after the first tick. There’s no time for anything as each tick would just kill you all over again. Any revive tricks just reapply the instant KO agony as soon as you are up.

Making the daily reward account bound would limit newcomers trying to only run fractals for rings by putting a cap on pristine relics they can get in a day. Also for those of us who have leveled multiple characters through fractals it would again trivialize all the hard work we put in up to this point.

It’s not so much an issue of skill access, but an issue of frustrating maintenance each time a swap is made.

It wouldn’t be so annoying if switching from 2 weapons to a 1 handed weapon didn’t put the offhand in the next empty place in your inventory instead of next to the main hand weapon. I’ve almost sold weapons because of this.

Also and this is my biggest pet peeve with switching, is having to reset autocasts each time I do. The game remembers your autocast configurations based on the most recent choices regardless of the weapon you are using. With four autocasts resetting even two of these each time i switch weapon sets is tedious after enough times. Doing this multiple times in a dungeon or wvw is just irritating.

I wouldn’t want out of combat weapon swapping so badly if they would just add some quality of life changes like remember what my last autocast setting for d/d was instead of using whatever I had set on staff a moment ago. Also if empty slot next to main hand on uneqquip = true, place offhand.

Engineer/Elementalist Weapon Swapping

This has been suggested a lot of times.

They can do just fine swapping weapons out of combat through their inventory. As it stands now, Elementalists have 20 weapon skills in combat, which any other profession has to exit combat and swap both of their weapon sets through their inventory to match.

Yes. OUT of combat swapping is being requested. How many weapon skills they have IN combat is irrelevant to the topic.
To swap now out of combat the ele/engie must
1) stop moving
2) open inventory
3) look for the weapon(s) wanted
4) put new weapon in place and put the old weapon in a spot where it won’t accidently get sold because its mixed in with weapons picked up as a drop.
5) close inventory

Not only does this take time, but it’s not particularly a good thing to be standing still in a PvP area with the inventory covering your screen while you dig around in it. An out of combat weapon swap is badly needed for the them.

Really? The fact that elementalists, by default, have twice the weapon skills of all other classes, save very specific builds of Engineer, while in combat is besides the point just because the suggestion was for out of combat weapon switching?

It’s actually extremely relevant. The entire reason they don’t have weapon switching at all is because of that very mechanic. So no, they really shouldn’t get weapon switching. If they want more weapon skills they have to carry those weapons in their inventory, just like every other class has to do.

Engineers also shouldn’t get weapon switching because the whole point of an engineer is to use kits instead of weapons, that’s why they only have access to three weapons in the first place.

Strictly easiest fractal is water, but it’s longish. Easiest fractal that is short is swamp.

I have to say I never really noticed how pretty the sky is in this game. I knew it was pretty and those times I took to stop and look around it was obvious, but it’s much more immersive now. I don’t have to stop I just see it as I run.

I didn’t expect this to make a very big difference, but I realize now how much time i was focusing my camera towards the ground in order to see where I was running. This is amazing.

On a related note. If you have completed story with one character could you start an explore instance on another character? Or does each character have to finish story mode before they are able to initiate explore mode?

Don’t forget these items can be made after halloween is over. All you really need is the 250 candy corn and 100 of either nougat, p. fangs, c. skulls for the item you want. After that you can take as much time as you want to make the weapon.

Dye Templates

It would be nice to be able to save dye templates and load them on a whim. I have a lot of fun switching the dyes on my armor, but I also like to go back to old configurations. This can get a bit difficult if my character has a lot of known dyes and I can’t sort by name to find the right shade.

On a related note sorting dyes by name or a search feature.

The better option might be to simply hide the empty pet slots for the HoM pets. So people without them won’t feel like they are missing.
