Arenanet needs to reset the servers so that inactive players are not counted towards cap. I have several friends I’m trying to bring in to Blackgate and the server is always full. Meanwhile, the battlegrounds is completely empty other than reset day. Everytime I login we have 2-3 BL that is always outnumbered. Arenanet you need to fix this so we can have more balance fight. JQ and TC are only in T1 because they can obviously field the entire Battlegrounds with no setbacks.
The problem isn’t that BG has a lack of players. It’s that BG has a lack of players playing RIGHT NOW. So you have to deal with a deadzone atm, but then once a season rolls around, or the expansion hits you have giant queues again. I played for a year on BG, and it was maddening how the players just stopped. There was a huge recruiting effort. Players moved wholesale to BG, and then all of a sudden there were giant queues again.
Add to that the whole idea of “Push Weeks” that T1 has going on now, and it’s no wonder people have lost some interest.
My point is regardless of season or not T1 servers shouldn’t have locked servers if the Borderlands aren’t not even capped. That or they should allow guest invites for wvw purposes so we can invite friends to fill the spots that are empty considering TC or JQ are usually full on their BLs.
Yes they should.
They advertised the game around the concept of taking time off and being able to come back and reintegrate with your friends at anytime. You are being selfish and demanding Anet change the games casual intentions for your own personal needs. In my opinion, players of that greed level are what the servers are imbalanced in the first place.
If you want a less casual experience, in which anyone who takes time to do something else they enjoy, loses their spot on a server, go play one of those game. Stop trying to ruin this one.
How is this ruined in any sense??? They have done server rehash in the past and they can do it again.

My point is that there is not a lack of players. There is a lack of players playing WvW atm. All a mass recruiting effort would do is to place more people on the server, resulting in terrible, horrible, very bad queues when those players hibergating decide to play again. This is patently unfair for people that spend gems to move to BG, and then get locked out of WvW later.
Dragonbrand is in freefall right now, and they are still locked. It may be time for a shakeup at the top. Nothing stays as static as T1 has forever.
Perhaps if T1 servers decided to push all the time, instead of every third week or whatever, and BG players saw that they were going to fall out of T1 if they didn’t get into the game your BLs would fill up again.
Your argument is not acceptable at all… and if you think it is then the more reason they need to rehash the servers. You are saying since Blackgate is taking a break right now. JQ and TC are free to roll our maps like they are doing now and let the rest of the server to sink down until the release of new Seasonal events. That or they transfer to another server if they can’t handle the heat? I think this is the most childish suggestion I’ve ever heard. First of all, not everyone wants to leave Blackgate or any other server if they have attachment and committed to the server. Not everyone likes to go roaming around and keep looking for new people that you might like/dislike consequently. Second of all, why would we leave BG if there aren’t enough players on our BL already??? Not everyone is stupid enough to think the same.
I’ve heard similar complaints about the emptiness of “full” servers towards other servers, most recently Dragonbrand. Addressing this issue might require an even larger overhaul of the home server system than the megaserver update last year. We can only hope that developers behind the scenes are working hard to dissociate server statuses with players that are inactive with WvW. If this really is a deal-breaker for you and your friends, have you considered transferring to lower tier servers in T3-T5?
Otherwise, dissociating inactive players from their home BL would definitely free up the high queues or at least they can revert the queues similarly to original structure but with the option to choose a home BL.

Wake up and smell roses people anet does not care about there w v w they making money off all the people buying alt account. They why guilds like tw/twl ons/onsl are cancer
that’s even better then… more account they ban/suspend more money they make from those type of players.
seems like a lot of effort with multiboxing just to mess with 1 bl heh, just do like T1 and get alts for all 3 servers and just play whatever color you want every week
makes things more relaxed when everyone just jumps around week to week heh.
But it is evident that there are players out there do things like these especially from JQ. There is a lot of toxic players from that server ever since release of the game and still they try to ruin any type of fair game which is fine in some levels. However, enough is enough and Arenanet needs to intervene and fix our queue system especially in Blackgate. We have 4 battlegrounds and almost every night and only one battleground that is not outnumbered.
And that’s the inherent problem. You don’t want to report someone if they’re legitimately AFK. One way we used to check for spies when I played on Maguuma was to add a person, and look at their Achievement Points. If it was low, we knew someone was tag/map watching.
2 v 1 isn’t “fair”, but it’s part of the game mode when you have 3 different servers on the same map. Having alt accounts just sit in a server’s map to take up queue space is something completely different. That led to my question to see if it’s an offense than a GM can kick someone from the map. I know GM Chris did this to AFKers in PvE when we had the hostage rescue map challenge from last year.
They need to implement concrete and/or reinforce necessary measures to identify and remove these rogue accounts locking up the queue. One of which is by adding honorless debuff like they did in GW1 that or place GM in each battleground to keep an overview of the entire list of players and identify those rogue/afk bots.
What can we do? Who here in the top tier servers will be willing to pay 1800 gems to go to lower servers?
This is the making of both anet’s negligence and our own greed.
If you dont like it pay the 1800 gems, cos that’s the only way we’re ever going to get fresh matchups! By moving server ourselves!
actually thats an idiotic suggesstion. who would actually pay 1800 gems just to be on another server that might actually have the same symptoms.
Do you have any definitive facts that show that is indeed how their process works?
Yes just keep an eye on my twitch or go check out our BL if you have GM mode. Otherwise, if they can’t find a solution to this issue they should just allow guest invites that allow invitees to come and help the host BL.

They need to update the game to include this feature… there are many things to add into the equation why we need to rename our guild. They should have thought of this even before release.
Thats wrong, the customer support can definitely change guild names. Most of the guild names I report do get renamed instead of deleted.
Totally Agree, what if someone just want to promote violence and abuse in game and they explicitly state through Guild Names? Renames shouldn’t be as hard to do considering the demand for it is quite high.
Please allow us to rename our Guild/Tag. Guild Politics can often change and may require a proper direction which includes a necessary guild/tag rename.
I agree this tournament was just a total joke… developed by amateurs. what happened to the classic tournament like they did in GW1?
Guild Charter:
Since the launch of megaserver there has been a lot of conflicting issues/interests that defy the unintended main purpose of universal ingame mechanics. One of these issues/interests hinders the guild progression like influence gained for the guilds are collectively not absorbed into its current domicile as its members are spread throughout entire list of worlds. Guild charters and its upgrades should be excluded from player localization as it creates a list of known and unknown issues that can prohibit progressions. In addition, guild renames should be taken into consideration as often as it seems guilds actually tend to be reclaimed in accordance with its nature. Not to mention guild upgrades are insanely expensive when it comes to small-medium sized guilds. Guilds shouldn’t be forced to recruit to its maximum limit as players differs from one another.

Facts:
now everything became meta. I feel completely boring.
Therefore, I need more challenge, Such as…
Any game will always be boring if there’s is no satisfaction at the end. Despite, GW2 doesn’t deliver as much as they promised still there’s plenty to do that can be quite entertaining.
1. Make several titles visible in wvw field. Let’s call it special titles. So enemy will always attack those whose titles are visible. (Ultimate ~ titles, Legendary Champion spvp rank title, top100 pvp title, upper than masterful achiever and etc…)
these special titles already exist… you can go back to gw legacy and complete those milestones to achieve these titles.
2. Make enemy commander mark visible in a battlefield. (not minimap)
However, not blue color but red color commander Mark. Give huge badge to ONLY a person who FINISHED this commander lol.
absurd idea… why not make it green, yellow, or multi color???
3. Decrease needed supply for arrow cart. (from 30 to 25 supply needed) So the user who have put all the points into maximum supply capacity will always make arrow cart without build help from other people. I rather want people use more siege weapon so… it’s wvw!
why not just make it 5 or 1 even???
4. Increase wvw reward, especially gold reward.
I think it is too small as compared to pvp or dungeon reward. REALLY.
This is definitely reasonable as they have increased the amount of gold you can get from dungeons they should do the same thing for people that only plays wvw all day.
5. (FOR SPVP) bring back top100 titles (For season base) and reward more golds and items to those people who are top100.
ok again why not huh?
6. Make some kinds of vehicle (like horse) so only commander can have for huge amount of golds and commands wvw users around the battlefield! (lol) or chariot that can attack, like the one appeared in the movie called “Gladiator”.
i’m sorry kiddo this kind of game is already easy enough according to you… and then you suggesting it to be much more easier??? where is your brain?
Since the release of wardrobe are the gemstore armor skin now reimbursable if you happened to buy multiple sets of one skin?
Happened around 12noon server time today in JQBL map.
ANet pls do your math right… 50% is not 1/4.
bump! bump! bump!
they should add anti troll que as well… its very common you know

we don’t really care about jq/tc 2v1 us entire game.. just we all want to remove the limitations in wvw. then we are talking fair game
ah, now we get it, how about you cry more…..
what is the 1 vs 1 anyway? you are aware a WvWvW match up is three servers right and its 3 servers for a reason.
you really need to know the difference between a logical perspective over an utter cry from a toddler. read my post properly please. I did not say about 3v3 as that is not the case.
I’ll break this down for you.
1. Everyone likes to think they get the most 2v1- it’s actually a pretty even split, because (A) you really only remember when it happens to you and (B) striking when the third party has the target occupied (IE making use of opportune moments) is not necessarily 2v1, but the target easily mistakes it for 2v1
JQ already made prior arrangements with TC soon as the first 2 weeks didn’t work on their favor or let me rephrase never had a chance to even match on 1 on 1 level.
2. I don’t feel bad for you. The breakdown of SOR was due in part to fracturing TS when the main TS got frequently ddos-ed by BG, leading to a series of “secret” alternates, which each also got leaked and targeted. A lack of central TS fractured the community, and SOR fell apart. I don’t endorse ddos-ing as a a tactic, but I honestly don’t feel bad for BG here.
Personally speaking I’d friends from either SoR and JQ there were plenty of reason why SoR drained down the toilet because of main thing a lot of their WvW core guilds were so arrogant and inflicting internal chaos within SoR amongst other guilds. One of those were my pve guild that got harassed not just once but several consecutive times.
3. I agree that WvW should not be affected by balance changes based on PvE, 100%, though it should also be a separate from pvp-stats for various reasons.
4. I also agree that AOE’s being limited to 5 targets is sorta BS, and removing that limit would maybe make it easier to counter stacking, and help break up blobs. Anet has stated they can’t raise/remove the limit for “technical reasons” which either means (A) “Our servers can’t handle that much processing, so the result would be too laggy” or (B) “We don’t feel like refactoring our code”. Each is a legitimate reason (part B less so, but it depends how much refactoring would be necessary)
This can be done effortlessly and had been addressed long before this decade. Plenty of games already gone through the same concepts and able to work around. Why not the Legendary ANet?
have seen this kind of situations in other games too..got only 1 reply from other.
DEAL WITH IT!
your point doesn’t really validate any remotely logical.
WvW 2v1 is fun enough for you??? How about during the entire season were you’d be fighting against 2 conspired zergs from each alliances. Meanwhile Blackgate TS is going through ddos attack every so often. Well sure enough JQ and TC are completely enjoying this moment to take advantage of the situation and they are absolutely not subjected to penalty. I think ANet needs to change how WvW mechanics work as opposed to pve perspective. Unlike GW1 they have skills changed when you switch between pve/pvp maps. I think they should do exactly the same thing over here in GW2. Skills should not be limited to 5 (10 if includes friendly target) targets. This makes the challenges in WvW easy to be manipulated against the favor of fair games.

That would be that playing for fights thing we go on about. Even though your post was sarcastic you at least get what we was trying to do, being in your garrison was the only way to get a decent fight going.
Alot of your server mates like to use the SoR playing for fights thing as a reason to chest thump when you win, but its nice to see some people get it.
Please leave SoR and take the rest of IRON with you, you all clearly have no interest of helping SoR win this tournament and your 6hr karma training yesterday did the server no good. There is a time to karma train and a time to get serious but its obvious IRON only cares about loot bags. Oh becuase BG got a new 40 man EU guild is no excuse either for a loss of points lead we did have.
So the point loss was just from IRON? Sorry to be the once to tell you think but those points were lost going from NA to sea/oceanic (not blaming those guilds before you come back with that) , it was a little early for IRON. BG’s new guild is not EU either, they are russian, which again means alot of their play time is a little early for IRON. Are you sure you are on SoR? you dont really know what you are on about.
Me and IRON are staying, come on Yoda, you know yopu love us really <3
Just wondering what’s the mentality of IRON when we lose 25k points to BG in 3 days?
Do you guys still push? Do you guys aim for PPT more or just keep looking for fight and karma and bags?IRON takes stuff all the time. But we have never made any secret about wanting good fights. When we lose 25k points in 3 days in a time zone we have no control over I for one dont let it bother me one bit. (I am not speaking for any other members of IRON here)
We are 1 guild and we play when we can. We dont do “all calls” and I wont emo rage over losing points because of a coverage problem. Sorry guys but I just dont take the PPT seriously and dont give a kitten about getting a shiny finisher. To Yoda and any others that think IRON should move server – how do you think that would help with the PPT loss and gaps with coverage?
If you want a official answer I am sure a officer will see this and maybe answer, Offski would be a good bet for a reply when he gets on.
Again i apologise for my lack of emo over the scores each week, as much as I try, I cant bring myself to care if i win or lose as long as i have fun and have good fights.
Wait wut o,o
I thought in SoR coverage, NA prime time is the best and then SEA and then EU. No?
Is SEA the worst then?
Frankly the coverage strength of T1 servers change all the time. SoR used to have strongest EU and Est NA and weakest SEA compared to BG. Now I think BG and SoR are more or less equal in NA, but SoR has stronger SEA and BG may have stronger EU now giving the coming of our Russian overlords:)
Not sure I agree with that, we have been struggling in sea and from what I have seen personally we have been outnumbered alot by BG, but thats only from jumping between SoR and BG borderlands. It well be different on the other maps, but if you see the PPT that BG has been ticking at, it seems that BG has the greater coverage. EU is a bit of a debate, IRON is only 1 guild and we are never short of people to fight against, but yeah, ZD’s are going to change alot.
To the ZD member who said you are small and only take camps – why did you have to take our garrison </3
Whats the problem?? SoR NA pretty much have outnumbered us and we never complain about it. It’s not like BG has all coverage in all timezone. I’m sure other server has the same issues. It’s a game and its either win or lose that you are willing to take risk. No need to make excuses to prove your deficiency.
We have so many trolls/spies from Sanctum of Rall. They come to Blackgate and ruin our map awareness. Arenanet should give the world community to vote out any troll players and if it reach a certain threshold should ban that person from that world.
GW2 =/= those other games and has it’s own balance issues.
All I know for sure is this game completely lack its own balance. And its completely giving a huge advantage against non meta.
IMO it’s fine as long as there is counter play available. My personal logic kinda goes like… can you reasonably stop (whatever). If so then it’s fine.
As far as working as intended/if this is considered abuse you would have to ask the dev’s. I remember reading a post a while ago that they weren’t fans of chain stealthing, but stopping it would require other large changes. I’m not saying that those changes shouldn’t happen or wouldn’t be good for the game… but that sounds to me like it would take too much to fix and it’s not a big enough issue to warrant that (this is how it sounded in my head… and this is coming from memory so it could be way off).
Actually there are several games that have implemented stealth/detect hidden for like 16 yrs now? I’ve not played Ultima Online but I’m pretty sure the general idea came from there. Shadowbane have perfectly mastered both stealthing and anti-stealthing mechanic. DAoC, Age of Conan, and the list could go on. So I don’t know where you got the impression that it will need a huge fix.
No the whole point of this topic is that stealth can be abused in many ways to gain an upperhand. Just because Blackgate or any other server don’t have an issue to players that abused stealth abilities doesn’t mean its working as intended. I’m merely speaking in general how absurd it is to chain stealth abilities in situation like these and never suffer anything.
Well I wasn’t sure if you were trying to include things like people mass blasting smoke fields or not (which could stealth larger groups of players than 5 as well).. which would then include more skills than 2 (hence the question), but yes I’m well aware of veil and mass invis on mes (although Mass invis has that 10 player limit). I was just going to point out/get into toxic shot on the AC and stealth traps (which thieves are awesome for placing) if you were going to get into large numbers of stealthed players.
If it’s an open field fight there are tons of ways to counter a large group of stealthed players…
Ok let me put it this way. Have you fought against SoR/JQ in WvW as of recently? They are quite very good at coordinating their entire pact and getting everyone inside Lords room hidden for lets say good 5minutes before they bombed everyone by surprise. Imagine that 2x the number you have defending the keep. Not saying they are not easy to defeat. But the whole idea of them getting inside lords room from outside inner gate is just pretty pathetic.
Get ready to see many more theifs out after the update. This is the first update where theifs can conrtibute to the PPT.
I’ve seen fewer every patch… especially since the cond meta kicked into WvW. No real large buffs to thieves in this patch… while other classes are being buffed and one will be given an anti-stealth skill… so I don’t see why this would be the case.
well lets see how is that going to be effective… but i highly doubt that… you are telling me 4 classes have stealth abilities 2 of which can give Mass Invis? And this is all what they can pull off?
But you can already stop them from entering stealth as is… and when you do stop them the thief is kittened in terms of Ini lost (their lifeblood)… so I really don’t see the problem.
What do you consider mass invis btw (as I’m sure that you don’t mean the actual skill)? More than 5 players?
you can wiki the skills if you need to I’m sure it will tell you alot about it.
well lets see how is that going to be effective… but i highly doubt that… you are telling me 4 classes have stealth abilities 2 of which can give Mass Invis? And this is all what they can pull off?
I actually don’t think its wise to remove stealth completely like some people have in mind. I think what Arenanet should have done was add something that can counter the skill to begin with. Perhaps some classes should have “Detect Hidden” or actually added a 30sec debuff to stealth before receiving another buff. As of now, people have several mesmers/thieves and abused the skill to maximize its effectiveness especially in WvW.
Players that are new to stealth’er class definitely have objective to this topic. They have their reasons mainly because they don’t see how stealth plays a major rule in metagames. Necros dont have perma DS, Eles dont have perma mistform? And why would mesmer and thieves can provide perma mass invis(chain skills per meta)??? And if there’s no counter to that mechanic then whoever implemented this idea is either a complete tool or is just complete innocent programmer who has never played mmo in more than 10yrs. I myself love playing assassin back in SB and its inferior to a scout when it comes to stealthing but i don’t see why stealth in this game should should be a major key to get an upperhand esp in a major pvp. I think they should add a 30sec debuff to regain stealth.. its not fair for everyone that don’t have as many thieves/mesmers to provide mass invis against a team with little or none at all.
(edited by mysticque.6182)
let see… we should have farmer, investor, rich and famous title.
Stealth is a get-out-jail-free card 99% of times for thieves, and like you said, has no actual counterplay. So many times I have outplayed thieves so hard just see them say “peace” and reappear far away at full health.
One option I have seen suggested that I like is to make light fields apply revealed to a stealthed thief. Only engies and guards have reliable light fields, but at least it allows some kind of counterplay. If you want it to be more do-able, you could make it fire fields, which would make large fights even more dangerous for thieves.
An alternative is to cap stealth for all abilities except shadow refuge at 4s of stealth (to prevent stacking up to ridiculous degrees), so that dropping black powder isn’t auto freedom, only 90% effective.
I understand playing the thief(rogue classes) in many different aspects. I’m trying to point out how many meta players have abused the stealth skills in a much larger pvp environment (like wvw) and its really becoming an upperhand againts smaller fields. Your suggestion of giving this and that is not a definite solution as it can be exploited.
Colin Johanson explains in a PAX 2013 interview about how Ascended came about, because they miscalculated the effort that would be required to get exotics, and states that he intends to ascended to be the only additional equipment tier they add to the game.
Makes no promises, as he states “7 years from now we might turn around and put another tier in, maybe someone else will be in charge of the game”, but really drives home the point that “this should be it” as far as equipment tiers are concerned.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Jy7CcwnfUdU#t=107
My opinion: Big load off my mind. I’m glad that they’re not planning to implement a gear treadmill, and it’s nice to see an official explanation for why ascended happened in the first place, and it’s definitely a reasonable explanation.
Discuss.
I can understand the part they were not definitive on the successive tiers but when they add another content which might have more challenging experience. Then a better solution would have to be added meaning gears and such. But the problem lies how to achieve the materials. If Anet is so obsessed about getting their communities to farm all day as opposed to enjoy the rest of the content then that is definitely going to fall on their lap big time…
Stealth is strong. A lot will claim it is OP due to it’s offensive and defensive strengths being tied up in one neat package. Having a WoW-like flare mechanic would be a fine thing, but any changes to stealth need to be carefully made kitten much of the thief class depends on the current stealth mechanics. Without careful adjustments the thief class could be really borked.
several games have successfully implemented this mechanic to be working both the negative/positive effect.
Like in Shadowbane, only scout class that can failsafe stealth without being revealed by any inferior rogue classes and that work the same with the thief in gw2. But thief and mesmer being able to mass invis is completely imbalance as there are no classes that can reveal them. This mechanic have been exploited in many ways and abused to raid towers/keep in wvw against small zergs just to gain upperhand not to mention they already have 2x the number or even more.
this can work on pve environment but i dont think it would work in pvp as most players are completely unpredictable and have diverse motives.
strategy and skill balancing doesn’t mix together in an unpolished battleground, does it? imbalance dictates when it becomes a disadvantage. you may be able to spot balance issues when both sides of the party have the same armor/skills/level/and other part of the equation in a separate pvp map like HOTM.
That’s called nostalgia.
It happens a lot with MMO’s, you’ll get over it.
It could also just be gas.
lol
I love how they added stealth without even having a counter skill but everything else have something that can counterbalance. Anet, you are so good at implementing new mechanic within your boundary…
Please share your inputs about stealth abilities in WvW and how it affects a lot of complexities when the skill becomes a huge disadvantage or upper hand between small zergs ang larger zergs.
I think they really need to add either a class that can reveal stealth units or add skills to some select existing characters.
GW1 vets (including myself)
How many hours have you spent on gw1 PvE? 100 or 1000 hours?
2.7K hours
I’ve also spent a lot of time playing gw1. But most of it(like 98%) on GvG and other PvP modes. Why? Because, besides the campaign, I considered the whole PvE experience as boring grind! There was no progression in that game. Just many different ways to farm gold and few ridiculously hard challenges. It wasn’t fun or rewarding game to play (at least the PvE aspect of it). So I really wonder why you want that kind of gameplay back?
You spent 2.7K hours playing campaign and completing quests? I don’t think so… So what were you doing over so many hours?
Actually I have played 11k hours in gw1 not to mention I was gone from the game for at least a good half a portion of its lifetime to play a seiging game like SB/AoC. I have to disagree with your no progression conclusion as they have have very definitive progression. The game itself is built on a ladder system which defines the whole progression of the game. With you playing 98% in GvG, you should have understood the whole concept already as GvG is strictly part of the ladder system.
Without knowing their reasons for change, I don’t see how we can judge the change. And, for the most part, Anet isn’t sharing their reasons.
I think it would be nice of patch notes would include not just changes, but notes behind the rational for changes.
I think this might help diffuse some of reactions people have to them.
For once I might agree with you…even as unlikely as this suggestion is. However, it really may not help anything at all if they just keep on making changes their customers aren’t happy with.
This brings me to my next point. This last update has caused the most serious negative feedback both on the forums and in game since launch. By far and away more people are unhappy with this latest patch than any other one. Yet Anet hasn’t said kitten about it. Ever wonder why?
My theory is that this decision came down from NCsoft. Look at the Cantha thread. They’re not saying kitten about that stuff either. Anet usually would respond to something that has created so much negative feedback if it was their decision. We all know now about the Cantha problem and what happened there. This probably isn’t too different. NCsoft probably suggested this or told Anet to create something grindy for the hardcore gamers or lose them.
This also segues nicely into another point. This game is not GW1. This game has a different audience. I know the loyal GW1 people are mad and they have every right to be, but you also have to realize that GW1 appealed to far fewer people than mainstream MMOs did. I know GW1 wasn’t really an MMO but GW2 is. Because of this, GW2 will not be immune to problems that plague modern day MMOs. One day GW2 is going to tank really hard, just like every other game. Hell, this last update could be the climax of the downward spiral, who knows. This happens to every MMO, but GW2 is free so it might just take longer.
the game is not really 100% free since you have to buy the game license on top of that they have a cash shop setup to counter measure the free services. now if you are talking about free games most MMO have gone f2p these days to compete against asian games.
Honestly there is a huge overhaul in this game and I’m not so optimistic about giving them any info about it until they give us what we have yearned for. Knowledge is power, we definitely have power over developers.
one of my necro storage character back in gw1 was N E R F.U.R T I T I. Until someone reported 3 years later
