Yes there are idiots but getting abused and intimidated all the time? It has never happened to me. Exactly why are people gravitating to you? Do you say a bunch of stupid stuff in chat or something? I’m puzzled.
So we need to go to the OP for “official” designations?
Yes.. I meant Lesser. My bad.
I got one a couple more months again from the Mystic Forge. Dropped 4 random rares in.
complaints like this are just… I mean, come on.
if you want storage right next to a trading post, go to divinity’s reach, or even better, go to Ebonhawke (if you don’t mind missing out on guild storage)
if you want everything right next to each other (including crafting) go to Rata Sum.
if you want to complain about walking or using waypoints whenever you want with no cost at all, continue using lion’s arch.
#entitledgamerproblems.
Not everything is about entitled gamers. Sometimes it’s simply feedback. Feedback the devs DO take under consideration sometimes. Just because you don’t have a problem with it, doesn’t mean others don’t. Your way of playing isn’t the only way to play.
Does anyone know how many Greater Nightmare Pod’s there are when doing Tangled Labyrinth, also known as “Pacman”? It seems there are between 15 and 20 but I don’t know if there is a set number or if it can change? Anyone know?
Yes TT has double health now.
Thank you.. and wow. Do the devs even play their own game? Do they realize TT is mostly dead because people just skip it as it’s very hard to find an organized group that is big enough, good enough, to even complete the 3? Doubling the 3’s HP is just, sorry, stupid.
Teq is still very doable with an organized group. We kill him every time with 8 minutes and change to spare. He needed the buff. It was ridiculous how fast his health was going down after the big patch. Teq is not meant to be completely faceroll.
I still haven’t gotten an answer to my question.
BTW, you keep saying that you are beating TEQ with more than 8 minutes left after the patch. Can we get a video please?
Just getting these out there so we know we are all in agreement:
1) Conditions seem a bit strong
2) World bosses are currently too easy
He does realize that these two issues were tied together right? Fix #1 and #2 is fixed. You don’t nerf condi damage AND double boss HP across the board. Geez.
At :25-20 seconds until Megalaser is fully charged. everyone should head back to the beach and prepare to level all of their might against that weak point mentioned earlier.
This advice needs to be amended. My guild was on a server earlier with Megalaser at 60%, everyone bailed at 20 seconds and the Megalaser went boom. You leave too early, you pay.
I too want to play living world season 1.
Gee thanks. I’m at work, I barely have time to check the forums much less look for the patch notes. Anyone else?
This event was already hard enough especially considering everyone would just skip it rather than fail again. Surely they didn’t mess it up even more? (Not able to play, I’m at work).
I agree with OP.. keep the politics for others.
This community can never be pleased.
The pre-order crap with gaming companies is a scam. Sorry, but it’s true. So yeah, I’m not pleased.
You really want to get people to pre-purchase instead of waiting for the release to make an informed decision whether to buy or not, don’t you?
Exactly.
I have over 700 hours into the game and missed the cut-off for refund by 5 days. I guess I’m not veteran enough. I’m not mad, but it does kind of suck. $50 is still too much, but I don’t mind paying it as much because the game is enjoyable.
I will NOT pre-order however.
I’m pretty sure they knew exactly what they were doing but saw gamers for exactly what they are, a bunch of hot air supported by a jelly spine. There is only a small percentage of gamers out there who say “I won’t buy this at this price” and actually stick to it. They know this and are taking advantage.
Well, those gamers are buying virtual rocks for $10 a piece. Can you really blame Anet for trying?
I was hoping they were more fan friendly than most gaming companies, but it looks like they are just like everyone else nowadays. I don’t have a problem with companies making money, that is what they are supposed to do, but show those who have done more to support your company than others, that you get it and appreciate it.

Don’t feed the troll.
This thread is so corny it made me cringe. But I’m glad you are happy, you are in the minority I think however.
Lol. You know the majority of the players are just logged into the game and not on the forms right?
I know as much as you do about the true percentage of people who are unhappy, that is why I said, “I think”. But all evidence points to the majority being unhappy in some fashion.

OP, well said. Anyone who is playing this game legally had to purchase the core game and then probably spent some more on gems at some point. How can anyone say that everything they got after that was “free”? It wasn’t. Anet wouldn’t be in business if everything they’d “given” us over 3 years was free.
can’t we stop with all of this threatening and hate?
Umm.. I haven’t seen a bunch of threatening and hate, what I see are a bunch of valid concerns about a pay model that is unkind to loyal fans. I wonder, at what point is it ok for fans to take their heads out of the clouds and start to push back on unfriendly practices?
The value in HoT is much better for a new player as opposed to someone who has the game already. You know, the people who have supported Anet with their hard earned cash over 3 years. THAT is the problem. Stop being so thick skulled, it’s not that hard to understand the problem here.
Online Gaming pricing then and now! UPDATED!

Of course what many have said is that the price isn’t the problem, it’s the lack of consideration given to veteran players. Oh and btw, for anyone who has played the game for a while, the price tag for many will actually be $60 because they will buy a character slot to play the exp.
$60 is too much for an expansion whether there is a subscription or not. Anet didn’t go with a non-subscription pay model because they were trying to be kind, it’s because they didn’t think it could be sustained, so quit acting like it was some kind of gift to their fans.
Blah blah blah.. I have a family to feed too.
Gamers still pre-ordering games huh?
“There is a sucker born every minute.”
Grimm… a gaming developers dream fan.
Apparently you don’t play many computer games. Game developers nowadays regularly partake in questionable activity as it concerns the treatment of their fans. It’s quite the topic in the gaming world so people are pessimistic and guarded. That is where this backlash comes from.
So bogotter make a video about the debacle.

The one and only issue I have with HoT’s preorder purchasing right now is the slow trickle of information.
The problem you should have with pre-ordering is a history of gamers being taken for fools, sinking their money into a crap, unfinished product and wishing they’d not pre-ordered until hearing a review or two.
Gaming companies love fans like sharkswithlazers, they can say and do whatever they want and fools like him will suck it up, spend the money, and give all the misdeeds a pass. And yes, I used the word “fools” because of his use of it earlier. Get a backbone.
I too don’t care about the free core game, but if you are going to charge $50, which I think is $10 too high, then at least include a couple of character slots, ONE at the VERY least. As it stands, I pass on HoT.
New player leaving because of HoT. The irony.

Ok.. well, I just had to LOL!
Whether it’s an expansion or DLC matters little, what really matters is the fact that it’s very expensive with not enough content to justify the price tag in my estimation.

You should NEVER pre-order any game again. Gaming companies have abused this over and over and over. You pre-order a game to get a few special items, then end up with an unfinished piece of crap. It’s always best to wait for some reviews on Youtube.
So many posts saying us veterans didn’t get anything and new players are getting the core game for free really makes me think how many of you are actually veteran players.
Us veteran players have gotten to experience all the open world events since release with new patches every few weeks. These new players won’t get all that the same way we did even if they get a “bonus” free version with buying HoT.
They won’t hear while afk’ing at the bank in LA the asura and char that say “Your face is funny”, “No, your face is funny. It’s like a little raisin”
They didn’t experience the festival events and seasoned events like we did.
They won’t see LA getting destroyed and how we fought over it while scarlet attacked it.
They won’t get to fight marionette like we did cause that is all gone and done.
They probably won’t see SAB seeing as people still riot about it to this day.
They didn’t get to farm aetherblades in zones and have tons of champs spawning.
Those are just a few examples but so many other open world events that these new players will never experience even if they do get a “Bonus” free version of the core game.
Stop being greedy and thinking its all about new players when new players will have missed out on a ton of content that is no longer available. Veterans have the memories of all that has happened since launch of this game to this date while new players will never experience those events.

Hey all,
We understand that there are many opinions and suggestions about the game versions and the pre-purchase program. We will continue to read your thoughts and thank you for sharing them.
Edit to add: We will share your input with the team.
I don’t really see where there are many opinions? There seem to be two. Either you think Anet can do no wrong and are happily going to pay, at the minimum, $50 for an expansion or you think Anet is taking advantage of people, especially those who have been around for a while. What are the other opinions as I might be interested in one of them?
I’m pretty sure Angry Joe will have something to say about this, but give them time, most of them are covering E3.
I expected around $50 as a price for the expansion, it is not an unusual price.
I have never heard of $50 expansions, I don’t doubt there are some, but please list some for me.

In today’s world most companies idea of customer service and loyalty is defined by the absolute minimum they can do and still retain your business. If they think the masses will pay $50 + $10 for a character slot, that’s what they are going to ask of you. They have employees there who’s sole job is to get a feel for the community to see how far they can bend it before it breaks.
They don’t care about you or me, they care about what is in your wallet, period. Loyal fan who has been with them for 10 years or someone who has yet to give them a dime, means nothing, it’s all measured in dollars and cents. They will pay you lip service and tell you otherwise, but only a fool believes anything a snake oil salesman tells them.
If enough people complain, they will give you a character slot, but believe me, they probably went into this knowing this might happen and are controlling the situation, guiding the community to ask for as little as possible to make them happy enough to spend more money. Marketing and sales teams are taught how to maximize sales, not make people happy, unless it benefits sales.

Given a lot of thought on the whole debacle.
Honestly, there are only a few good points and criticisms I can accept from those against the pricing:
- Not enough information to make the purchase
- Not enough cash on handThese are really the only two excuses, and ultimately both are solved with time. The pre-purchase is simply setting yourself up for HoT early so you don’t get caught in line at the retail when it launches for real. It makes sense to want to see more information, or start saving up money now rather than feel pressured to buy like so many people continue to harass and suggest.
I’ll be honest, at first I felt an immense disappointment in the community, I was dumbfounded on why so many people were complaining when they knew for months the expansion would be paid, and many at that time complained about the hypothetical pricing and what it would be at. I suppose I expected more people to be adequately prepared to make the pre-purchase and be thrilled about things moving forward.
I don’t doubt many of you who aren’t making the purchase fall under the above catagories, and I can definitely agree on those two points of contention.
That being said, I am going to stand firm against people who are complaining about the price, attempting to compare it to other games (including GW1) or demanding freebies when clearly all the content between Core and now has been cheap at the very most in cost, given the average player in GW2 might have spent something like $5 (I read this from an article somewhere, it was a comparison between MMOs). I still feel a bit down about the individuals without a case demanding some sort of entitlement for playing the game, and there have been quite a few of those that I have read.
Overall, I can’t say I am too happy with the shenanigans, but at least I have made my pre-purchase already, and given what I saw from the Guild Halls trailer, if everything else beyond that is going to be that kind of quality then $50 is a terrific deal.
It’s a shame that in today’s gaming community we still have people who pre-order and accept any price a gaming company asks of them without knowing if the game, or in this case, expansion is worth it. You are part of the problem, not the solution. Anet made a great game, but asking $50 for an expansion and not including even a character slot is too much and reason to move on. Don’t care about your core players, then I’m no longer going to support you or any company that treats it’s customers like they mean nothing more than $$$.

When I first heard that Heart of Thorns was available for prepurchase I was ecstatic.
Let me just say that anyone who gets “ecstatic” about being about to pre-order a game in this day and age just isn’t keeping up with the gaming community. STOP pre-ordering games people!

Stuff like guild halls and gvg should have been included at launch.
How can you say guild vs. guild should of been included at launch? The game is called “Guild Wars 2” after all… er I mean… good point.
$50 is too much and including the base game to justify the exorbitant price, whether they say it’s included for free or not, doesn’t float with me, or my clan mates who have all said they aren’t paying $50 and will move on to other games.

I don’t understand why people are raging so hard. I mean yes $50 is quite a lot but it almost seems like nobody here has ever bought another game before. Let’s have a look shall we:
Evolve: $60 Pre-purchase
GTA V: $60 Pre-purchase
ArcheAge: $50 Founderspack
Sims 4: $60 Pre-purchase
WoW Mists of Pandaria: $40 Pre-purchase
Wildstar: $56 Pre-purchaseAnd so forth…. and if you think you get way more content for that you’re terribly misinformed. From the glimpse we seen of HoT we’re almost, virtually getting a new game and knowing Anet they will probably add tons of more, FREE content thereafter.
People keep complaining all the time how they would pay a subscription if it meant more content, then they give you a big chunk of content at a reasonable price in comparison to the rest of the market and people complain???
You would’ve easily paid about $300 by now if you had to subscribe and WoW even still makes you buy the expansion ON TOP of that. I think it’s appalling that people had this game with TONS of free content for TWO years and they STILL want everything just handed to them??? Do you WANT Arenanet to go bankrupt? Come on people… get real…
I know paying so much money sucks but this is the reality of the gaming market. GW2 is a triple A title and is the most popular after WoW. This is an amount completely to be expected in line with most other games of this quality or even lesser quality (Like ArcheAGe). If you want to buy it for cheaper wait for a sale….
As for the paying for the base game, you’re not paying for the base game you’re paying for the expansion as they have explained. New people just get the old game for FREE which is more than people can say for the WoW base game, I clearly remember that some expansions you got free but still had to pay for the rest.
Now can we all go back to talking about how awesome the Guild Halls and Arena thing looks!
Comparing full games to an EXP is nonsense.

$50 is not fair especially when there is no char slot. I think they just shot themselves in the foot and are giving the middle finger to long time fans.
