Can’t use any Greatsword even thought it is unlocked on my Necromancer’s Elite Specialization. I also can’t select the Elite Specialization in its build.
Hello. I cannot use any of the new weapons for my characters after unlocking them on the skill tree. For example, I can’t use the shield for the mesmer, even though it gave me a free shield to wield.
You can only equip the new weapons if your elite specialisation is active, and you can only equip an elite specialisation in place of the bottom trait line.
I had to ask my guild about this. I think it should be made clearer somewhere in the UI. I thought it was a bug as well.
My game crashes every time I try to participate in Battle of Tarir…
Im also having same problem but the lag hits me at 7pm and goes on for a few hours, its really frustrating. I contacted anet and did all their tests and at the end of it they told me to contact my ISP and after seeing this post i honestly think there is no point in contacting them because they are not going to do anything about it. I’m probably going to revert to using HSS until it we find a solution. I also bought HoT and i want to be able to raid without lag but i definitely think that’s not going to happen. East Anglia here btw (Norwich).
The lag hit me at exactly the same time! EE, in South Wales. The game is completely unplayable.

I have a friend who uses one of those survey sites where you get coupons, discounts and money for surveys completed or advertising viewed. She had a choice of game codes for a little while back but doesn’t play games, so knowing that I play guild wars she requested a gem code for me. It was really kind of her, but I’m loathe to use it unless I know the codes are legitimate and won’t get my account banned, since this is not an affiliate scheme I’d ever heard of Anet participating in.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue as to whether it’s safe to use the code?

I’d like to echo Colin’s sentiments. Thanks to the OP and everyone else for posting your constructive feedback here. We’re always evaluating our past work and looking for ways to improve our future releases. Sometimes those improvements may come in the form of developing new technology to support our vision or improve the player experience. Other times it means evolving our writing and game design processes. In other cases, resource and scheduling changes are necessary to support the additional workload. The potential solutions will vary depending on the challenge in front of us.
Part of the development process is prioritization, so I’d like to know what you feel are the highest impact items you think would improve our storytelling delivery. What are your top three requests?
1. I would like to see the story told IN game and not outside of it.
2. I would like to see the currently unexplored plot arcs developed (i.e. Largos or Tengu) rather than the introduction of new characters who remain rather shallow.
3. Make living story items like skins and weapons available through the living story itself; that way we have a sense of achievement in the story, rather than a sense of achievement in having disposable income.

Same issue here. Game loads, but gets stuck on the loading screen until time-out.
Your looking at this wrong think more on the lines of using gold to buy gems to buy thing off the gem store. In effect every thing on the gem store is worth gold and for the most part the gem store skins work out to be cheaper then tp skins. Best example was the blue armor set that just came out its about 80G for 800 gems for a full set with build in transmute ability. Look at other sets say the T3 culture armor it comes out to 120G for a full set with out the ability to transmute. You can say the same for weapons.
I think the problem with this is the fact that they are in the gem store for a limited time. To get T3 cultural armour you can save and get it when you have the money together. It’s something to strive toward. Exchanging gold for gems to get something from the gem store requires you to have the funds ready at that particular moment as the skins aren’t permanent.
Hey brah, they work hard, and they need money. It’s either cash-shop or monthly fee. Pick one.
I’d rather pay a monthly fee. It costs less in the long run.
I want LESS armour in the gem store and more available as rewards in game. I don’t see why we can’t have both. Why not make them easily accessible in the gem store, and available as prestige items in game. I love all the account services and Quality of Life boosters that are currently available, but I detest RNG, and I super detest the fact that I’m expected to spend real money on armours which SHOULD be available in game.
More skins like the Zodiac, or cool holiday skins like the wintersday ones I think are great for the gem store, but I think that all LS related armour should be available as drops or from LS chests.

So, I tried loading in to Lion’s Arch and got stuck on the loading screen for 10 minutes. Force quit the game, but now can’t log back in.
Anyone else with the same issue, or is this support-worthy?
Same problem here too. Happens every time I have a game update of any moderate size.

The game has done this to me every time it has a big update. Anet are usually quite speedy and fix it within a day or two, but it’s just frustrating that this happens to me EVERY TIME there’s a game update…
Rather than this, I’d like to see more dynamic events which can have the whole chain completed without other players on the map.
I had that too. Kind of annoying since the glow was the entire reason I got the makeover kit. I forgot to change it in character creation…
Actually, only the Kee sounding pronunciation is correct. The Kway pronunciation is an incorrect pronunciation that has been colloquialised in only certain parts of the US.
The issue I have with this, is that the character is speaking with an English accent. If it’s said with the accent, even if it’s a faked one, then the pronunciation would have to match the accent. No English person (nor Australasian for that matter) worth their salt would ever incorrectly pronounce that word.
If you use the accent, you have to use the pronunciation. Simple as that.
Not really a bug, just a terribly formulated mob name; in the colossus fractals level you go up against novices. And the tougher novices are called “Veteran Novices”. You can’t be a Veteran Novice. You can only be either or. A veteran, or a novice. Therefore this mob name is a poorly constructed oxymoron. I’d like to see the mob renamed to something that actually makes some sense.
I can not support this idea enough! I have a bank full of stuff I want to use for the skins. I like collecting armour for its appearance, and I hate that I’m being forced to throw stuff away because I don’t have anywhere to put it.
Even if we didn’t have wardrobes, I think it could be implemented in the home instances. There are already weapon and armour vendors there. Every time you soulbind an item, this item could become available for purchase at the vendors in your home instance for a nominal fee of 20copper or something similar. That way it’s not a complete free for all, you can preview the armour itself, as well as armour combinations you’d like to use, and you still have to use transmutation stones to apply the skins.
Essentially this would just mean that the skins are easily accessible without having to keep them in your bank.

Ahh, I didn’t realise. I had such bad lag during the event I barely noticed. I’ll try a different aspect ratio and see if that works.

Since logging in to the game last night I have noticed that the game is different. Mainly I can scroll out more, and the environment seems to move past me faster, making it impossible for me to focus on what’s going on, and making me feel dizzy, and on occasion nauseous.
I am not testing the FoV, so I was wondering if the changes had been rolled out to any clients without anyone being notified? If yes, is there any way I can change these changes from the default, as the game is virtually unplayable for me?
I send an error log every time it occurs. I hope it’s fixed soon. The game is almost unplayable.
I created another topic, but just found this. Yes. I have the same issues since last update.
Since last updating my game I have random crashes which happen frequently. The game crashes to my desktop with no warning, and I have to submit error reports. I run the game through steam, so I thought perhaps that was the issue, but running it without has not helped either. This is very irritating, as I will usually crash out twice during a dungeon run, or mid battle.
Anyone else experiencing similar issues since last update?
I think the personal story had some real potential, but with so much branching I think they just bit off a little bit more than they can chew with the realisation of it. I love the Sylvari and Asura personal story lines until 20, but after that they all just fall apart into random things with no proper introduction.
I do belive Anet have stated that they are looking in to improving the personal story for the future however.

I crashed and now I’m in the same boat. 
I say take a look at Apple. You can have an itunes account and no credit card on it, but once you register a credit card you have to delete the account to delete the card information.
How many people experience that account being compromised?
True, but they have this really neat thing called BASIC ACCOUNT SECURITY!

Oh I have no doubt they CAN, but I can almost guarantee they WON’T. The OP’s friend will either get the original account back, which would be great, or they will purchase a new account. They aren’t going to roll the old accounts details to the new account.

The game is region locked for account creation. You have to create your account and have your inital login from the correct region. i.e. eu game in the eu, and us game in the us. After the initial account creation however you can log in from anywhere in the world. So, unfortunately your EU copy will not be useable unless you also create your account in the EU zone and have it validated there. You can not validate an EU copy in the US.

Another copy with the original account back IS asking for the character to be applied to a new account. The account (therefore character) is bound to a serial key, so if you put in a new serial key it will be a new account…

Ya cause his bank is really out there to defend and help him? ArenaNet is trying to provide a great service here. They are not trying to screw anyone over. They had over 1 million prepurchases and who knows how many sales after it launched.
They even stopped online sales, which is unprecedented.
None of us knows what kind of load they are under. People say just to throw more staff members at it. That almost always inevitably slows things down.
Lets be rational people. When people start showing more support for their banks than ArenaNet I know all rationality is gone….
EVERYONE understands your frustration from not being able to play. There is no conspiracy here. ArenaNet is not taking your money and never looking at you again.

The rational thing to do would have been to release a game with even the most basic security protocols, which don’t retain card details for use without any security fail safes. While a lot of hacked accounts could have had stronger passwords, or used other emails, the fact is, even player error could have been largely minimised by even a vaguely competent account security system.
I may not be the biggest fan of banks, but I can guarantee that the one thing that they will bend over backward to help you with is money and the security of your money. If your money isn’t secure it’s more work for them, so they will do their darnedest to make sure that your money remains circulating in their interest flow. They will work to resolve these issues because it is of benefit to them.
I had the same response from Lloyds in London. They told me they’d been getting a lot of us cancelling our cards for the same reason as I did within a very short space of time. Had them a bit worried. Not sure if they’ve done anything about it though. Might just have been an observation.

To be fair mate, I don’t think you’ll have much luck with buying a new game and having your account restored with a new key. Saying you’ve put ‘way too much time’ into anything doesn’t really ring true given that the game’s only been out a few weeks. I would definitely try to get a refund for all gem store purchases made on the old account, but I think it’s a pipe dream to ask for your old characters to be applied to a new account.
I purchased the CD key through a cheaper 3rd party and do not plan on buying any micro-transactions items unless it is offered through google wallet or some other 3rd party gateway. After all this, me… who hasn’t even entered my info to anet, would never trust them with my card details after knowing of these practices.
It’s that kind of negativity and bad vibe, no trust from consumers that lead to company down falls. I hope Anet make the right decisions on this one. Good luck to all of you who are at the mercy of them holding your card info, I’d flip my lid if i was in your situation, I’d personally cancel my card at my bank though and get them to re-issue you a new one.
That’s what I’ve done. I decided it was safer to have a new card, so now it doesn’t matter that the old card details can’t be deleted. There is absolutely no way I’m entering my new card details in to the system though.
I’ve had the same issues. I get network errors, but only in the story missions.
Why won’t they even mention why or at least give a reason why you cannot remove your credit card information.
It’s almost a shady money grab.

The purchase sites are extremely secure. And from what I recall, on our end the CC number is encrypted and not retained in it’s visible state. So if you can see it, I believe that we cannot see it, it just looks like **** to us.
Will get you more information if this remains a concern, but I really feel you’re ok.
My good lord Gaile, how is this even vaguely ok? You should never, EVER have to save your card details. Most times you are given a choice. While the card can’t be used for out of game purchases, it CAN be used for in game purchases, and the EULA clearly states that no refunds will be given for gem store purchases under any circumstances, and that you are susceptible to being banned if you request a charge back from your bank. If someone’s account is compromised, those details can’t be used for outside purchases, but they can sure be used for a HELL OF A LOT of in game purchases. It has happened to people with hacked accounts already.
You should never, EVER have to save your card details on any online services without being offered a choice to do so. I’d rather enter them new each time personally.
I tried to log in from my phone, couldn’t, so assumed I got hacked. I immediately cancelled my card and had it re-issued. turns out I wasn’t, and I am just unable to log in to NCSoft or ArenaNet webpages on my iPhone, but it’s still better safe than sorry.
