Thank you for the reply. I know whirlpools spawn between burn phases and when he flies of the first time you have to protect the batteries. But honestly cannot see any whirlpools. It is frustrating when you are depended on something random while all the rest are just proof of skill and knowledge of the game. Anw will try again in an hour. A friend told me the same thing as you. Guaranteed whirlpool etc etc.. will follow him and see.
Edit: wasnt expecting such a polite response…kitten ..
I could go in detail on how and why I decided to do the Twilight collection to get Dusk but that is a story not worth mentioning any more. Right now I’m on Vol III where you have to get to 27 different places and use The Gloominator . Well not all 27 of them. For 20 of them actually. For another 5 you have to go in fractals and that is not that bad because its a doable thing now with the new fractal system. For the last 2 I am baffled why did you choose those. For the last 2 you have to find Grenth’s Temple contested and find 20+ other people to do the assault event and during the chaotic situation open your inventory and use gloominator during the time when portals to underworld are active. I understand it is doable but why? Why do I have to depend on so many other people to do my legendary journey? What really annoyed and angered me is the part with Tequatl. Teq has to pull you in the water and while there you use your item. First of all. Whirlpools from Teq are almost non-existent on a normal map. And there are only 2 kinds of maps you find during Teq. A normal map with hundreds of people killing him, meaning barely any chance to get sucked down or a fail map with no people which means no whirlpools at all. Second of all if you are that lucky to happen to find one in that chaos it lasts for such a small time that is impossible to get to it. Third if you get pulled with minimal hp you will die from the dot before you are able to do anything. Why? Why was it designed like that?If the intention was to do the legendary journey with other people why did you give us 23 out of 30 objectives to be soloable? Do I have to wait even more to have fun? the 100 ascended materials and the thousands of ores I had to throw away was not enough? Please help me understand.
example 1) I would have instakicked him. Hate people that go to fractals without enough resistance for the level. If he was down most of the time then the help he offered the party was about .. 0!
example 2) weell might not have if we got what we wanted from the run. Would have blocked him though. hate people like that.
example 3) Say no to toonswappers!!! No I dont want to wait for him to swap toons. kitten that kitten! Hate it even more when they do it in dungeon runs at the last boss and bring in low lvl alts. Absolutelly hate it. If I hadnt been warn and agreed on it before the dungeon I would have instakicked him.
most of the times that she is late is because it actually has 4 pre-events until it spawns. 2 of them involve helping Brenda at the Monastery to gather her Melandru ale (1) and deliver it (2) to the outpost at the south border. As soon as she starts walking for the escort event 2 the portals of underworld open in the monastery , ettin’s and that other area (3). And (4) is when the 3 portals appear where behemoth appears after you close them. From personal experience unless you get her ( Brenda ) to start walking for the escort event the portal events dont start.
Technically there is no such thing as easiest dungeon if you go with a team that has never done any. One or two of you should go with other experienced groups first to see how is done and then show to the rest of the guild.
CM TA Arah have rabid weapons and are pretty easy to get. why you would want to pay for that? Just do a market research on TP. Use the filters so you get only the exotic lvl 80 staffs and check the stats of the named ones since (from what I know) you cant craft a rabid weapon or armor. So skip destroyer/corrupted staffs
(edited by panikos.8309)
Necromancer’s elites are either useless pets or transformations that disable all your skills including healing skills and give you some pretty useless ones instead which maybe 1 of them is useful. Only the grenth aura thingy doesnt transform you but it only lasts for 15secs or so and has a 3 min cd.. really Anet? I rarely use elites. Gw1 elites where game changing and actually important for your build.
The thing is you will not get double drops. You get double chances of higher level loot from a mobs loot table. Which translates to : if a mob has in its loot table an exotic drop rate of 0.05% with 100% MF that drop rate will go up to 0.1%. Imagine a dice with 100 sides. If you threw it, 95 of the sides gave kitteny drops and 5 sides gave you good loot. Now you get 10 sides to give you good loot but that doesnt mean that when you throw it you will get the 10 sides of good loot. There are still 90 sides that give kitteny loot. thats Random Number Generator (RNG) for you. MF just makes your chances better. It doesnt guarantee anything.
1 necro and 2 necro. I wanted to make the same exact (appearance and all) char but gw2 doesnt have the canthan hair styles or faces so I went for a descendant char. I dont feel as much as a necromancer with gw2 necro but kitten it.
gold sellers uses them mostly,…
i understand why goldseller would want to use guild bank, but guild vault transport ? why the transport ?
I got no idea as well, about what we are talking about but I guess a goldseller with instant access to a much bigger storage space would stay and farm for more instead of going back and forth to offload things in the bank.
Wells do power dmg while marks mix of both with focus being on condmg. I think condition damage is better to go for since you are going to be using marks alot more than wells cause of cooldowns. A good mix of power, condition dmg and survivability I think is the carrion combination (Con Pow Vit) Personally I got it mixed with rabids here and there for some toughness and precision. I find it to be really good in WvsW encounters. 0/30/20/20/0 is what I’m using right now.
So here are my 2 cents.
I played GW1 as a necro through the 3 campains and the expansion. Still log in actually. Started playing after all 3 campains were released and Factions was my first campain and were I started my necro.
I just want to ask since you seem to have played the necro from Prophecies, how was GW1’s necro “fun” at the beggining. From what I read dual class was something that came with Factions and until that point you only had the Prophecies necromancer skills to use. Tell me how could that have been fun to play? Tell me how did that have 100s of ways to play it? As with GW1, Anet was not going to make GW2’s release content to include all the different things they plan for the game.
I disagree with you in principle mostly because I do get your point.
You cant compare a 6-7 years old polished dual class skill system that had a skill pool from 4 full campains with a skill system that is single class and has the skill pool from 1 campain only.
Since Anet wanted to go for a combat system that is more active than GW1 they had to do things differently and they had to start over. I find the approach that Anet has on skills of GW2’s necro to be ok and fun for me. I play necro in GW2 as well since pre public betas started. I find necromancer more fun to play than other classes. I am pleased with what I’m getting from a new game that just released. I do expect better things for the future. More polished skill system. More skills and more builds. I know better than to had expected all of GW1 things to be part of GW2.
I, as you, wish for better minions but anw minions cannot be what GW1 minions were. We are talking about an active system here were you need to have quick reactions if you want to survive. Old minions sucked in quick reactions. they worked as a zerg and the only difference with the current minions is that when they saw something they attacked it. Other than that they are the same and, imo, GW2’s minions are a bit improved with the active skill.
To all the people saying if necro didnt have DS and high hp and epidemic they would be useless. Well duh! All the classes, if they didnt have their attunements, their boons, their 100blades would be useless and not fun to play!
They do have them and they are usefull because of them! Thats what makes them unique! I do understand the disappointment and why you find the necro unfun but you should try and see the possitives and as, I’m sure you did, in GW1’s Prophecies ignore skills and builds that dont work for you. Or even the class as a whole until the next expansion were I’m sure more diversity will be introduced to all the classes.
in order of infractal class importance. mesmer>guardian>warrior>thief>ranger . But go with whatever you feel comfortable with. The more you know how to play your class the better you will do in there.
GW1 is a whole different game. Everywhere you go and there are enemies to kill is an instance and is only for you and your teammates. Since you want the story, you will want to buy all 3 parts of the game eventually ( Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) and when you feel like it go for Eye of the North. The 3 parts of GW1 are not tied together. Every part tells a story of a different region of the world and with EotN things come together. To get the background story of GW2 as it is now you will want to play through the story of Prophecies and Eye of the north. The other 2 part’s stories are not in GW2 yet and you can postpone it for later . Make sure to check PVXwiki for builds since without a good build it will be very difficult to finish missions and progress the story. If you do buy and stick with the game it is very likely to get 10-15 points for the hall of monuments rewards as well by the time you finish everything. Also HoM is a EotN thing only. You can always add me and Id be happy to help you progress until you can get around on your own
It doesn’t and it won’t have any ever. For the free to play status of it the game is amazing and worth spending your gaming time with it instead of other free to play games. It goes head to head with the sub-fee games in terms of quality. Your question is irrelevant.
I just wanted to ask if the black shadowy scythe thingy that appears on staffs on necro skills works as intended on Final Rest and the CoE staff. The black shadowy scythe blade comes out in the middle of the staff and not the top. I do not want the Final Rest if it looks like that. Can someone answer ? I feel so dissapointed by Final Rest because of that..
I find the lack of toughness and vitality on your gear disturbing :P
Seriously though, 18k hp without toughness is a suicide. Mostly cause you walk around in light armor. Zerker armor makes necros way more squishy than they should be imo. I prefer to run a 30/15/0/0/25 with knight armor, eagle runes and the all rounder ascended accesories. Im not home to post a pic for you to check the difference but you can do a comparison through the buildcraft site. Here is kinda what im running everywhere as a power necro build.
Well, the state it was until recently and the bad rep it left behind I guess. When I wanted to make a PVT set I had HotW AC, Temples and SE as a choice and ended up with HotW+Temples even though I wanted full SE because all I could hear was that it is a mess and very difficult to do. Im working my way to full SE light knight armor now. Need 500 more tokens. Im trying to do all paths each day. With a party of 2 wars 1 ele, 1 engi and me(necromancer) path 2 took us around 35-38 mins the others 10-15 mins. Its easy enough if people know/listen to the basic strategy of each encounter.
edit: I usually play on silent mode so I can hear my voice chat. I got no idea what that nonono thing is
Lucky you.
lol thanks I have noticed the text on the chat box before but never heard of the sound good thing I play on silent.

Please do something about in combat state. Lets say I just killed something but I have still a condition on me. That keeps me in combat unless I use a skill to remove it. If my skills are on cd im stuck in combat mode even though I’m not fighting anything. Can you make it that the in combat mode is activated and maintained as long as an enemy is alive and engaging you? It seems that now it depends if you are loosing hp which is a way to simple solution for the type of combat that the game has. This affects pvp as well I think. When I did some sPVP a thief would damage me, apply bleeds and then go to stealth mode. While in stealth he would go out of combat and I would still be stuck in combat. He would come back in full and i would still be in combat mode. Making a build to counter a game mechanic that shouldnt work like that is not a solution. Maybe make it so as soon as the source of damage disengages or dies you would wait 2-3 secs and go out of combat as well. Have a pairing type of incombat mode. Where both have to be engaging in combat for the mode to be active. Do not count remaining conditions and condition damage as a reason to stay in combat.
silly question: I love my necro and everything, but why would someone that wants massive critical damage and in your face damage go for a necro ? Thief and warrior comes to mind for that kind of class. But saying that I will try lichdom/madaxe builds and see what are they all about
it might work but since you are talking about power you need to take the 5%toughness->power trait from death magic line (25 points). You dont actually need the 15% faster dagger skills since you can get condition transfer from the staff as well or go into deathshroud to avoid condition damage. The speed on auto atk skill is too small to make a difference.
Furthermore I understand why you would want to put points in soulreaping (25% critdmg) but the traits u get from it are useless to you if you want to just hit with your dagger. Unless you want to stay in DS most of the time but then why would you go for daggers.. Staff makes more sense if you are going to be in DS imo. Anyway..drop the soulreaping and put only 20 on blood magic for the wells cd reduction. For sure 25 points on death magic for extra power and the rest divide between spite and curses (a 15/10/25/20/0 maybe). Cavalier jewels (Balthazar’s temple seller) with rubies on them to make up for the lost crit damage bonus cause droping soulreaping traits.
edit: 25 points on blood magic for 5% damage when over 90% is not actually helpful since you want to use blood is power. Most probably you are not going to be running around dungeon bosses with over 90% health most of the time.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Juggermancer-Final-Blog-Link/first#post772683 try this as well. Im mostly using that but for jewels Im going for sun/moon ascended rings and solaria necklace. Because you cant just stay pure power build. The wells and staff skills work better with a bit of condition damage extra on you. Also D/D Staff for weapons. Dont like how the focus looks or its skills. I prefer the condition transfer skill of the offhand dagger than the silly chill of focus
I’ve had bad drops since that patch that made veterans and champions drop something 100% of the times. I got really annoyed yesterday when I did 5-6 events in orr for the daily. Tens of mobs killed if not more and ended up with some bags, 10-15 of those grey skulls and 5-6 blues and 3-4 greens. Had veterans and champions drop absolutely nothing. Have in mind that I walk around with ~130% MF. Before that sure-loot patch I used to get 1-3 raress from a single event and at least a blue from veterans and champions. Back in those days I was mainly farming those 2 camp protect events in orr. Im pretty sure they did something because people were getting to much gold from farming in the open world.
try on the light conjurer chest ..armor.. if u can call it an armor (its a bra with sleeves :P )
? Do we play solo ? Necro is all about soloing. You choose to be a necromancer cause you hate the living! You are such an antisocial person that you prefer to raise the dead, instead of talking to the living, if you ever you find yourself in need of some company! And when you are done with them you just make them explode.
Wells and staff aoe-s + scepter-focus for endless kitting or dagger-focus for upcloseandpersonal. Do lots of condition damage preferably. At lvl 20 with greens I would first gather 4-5 mobs on me otherwise I would not bother killing things. At max level though depends on how you wants things around you to die
no.
I just want to add my opinion as well even though something similar has been posted already.
This was a rushed patch for dungeons. The same thing as with ascended gear happened. You release a feature without releasing the full range of changes that need to be done for it to be a usefull/good/understandable one. First of all why I cannot wp travel in the dungeon when my team is in combat and I am alive? I am alive I dont need a ress! Why I have to be punished for that? Its such a simple thing. If this new change in dungeons was tested before releasing it to the public how can nobody noticed it ?? I noticed it on my second dungeon run after the patch. It only hints that this was not tested.
Secondly, why I am punished when some1 else is in combat anywhere? Why cant this feature be active only during boss battles ? example: I died going to AC p2 ghost dome and couldnt respawn back to WP because some1 else who died before me started runing and agroed the spiders. Ok I understand why would some1 consider wp rushing a bad thing. But if it is a bad thing why are the dungeons as they are (full of wp) and not the same as fractals? Why have the WP there if I am not allowed to use it when I need it. Why took you 5 months to realize that WP rushing is wrong and shouldnt happen? Why not remove them when you introduced fractals?
Furthermore, why is this released now and not when you actually change the dungeon encounters to accommodate this new feature? Dungeon encounters were designed with the WP rushing in mind! You cant tell me that you actually made CoE p3 last wp randomly there or Cof p2 wp before the exploding door. You must have known through testing that WP rushing will happen and will be necessary for the ordinary/not so hardcore PVEr to go through that content. And after 5 months letting people use wp rushing you come and just disable it without doing anything else. The rest of the changes will be in phase 2… in a month or 2?
People were WP rushing because actually sitting and waiting for a ress means more party members deaths and waste of time. If ressing would take less that going to the WP and running back or getting ressed by a party members people would not do it. Why you didnt make the ressing times shorter in t his patch at least? Why you didnt make the downed people withstand longer so they can be ressed and not 1hit-ed from bosses? Why you didnt make the ressing skills of classes to work even on dead people instead of only downed ones.
Who thought that it is a good idea to release it now to the public without the changes of phase 2? Really…? After the rushed decision of ascended gear through fractals only and the backfire it caused??
On a positive side though the cof p2 door event is much more enjoyable now.
aaaand it’s patched.
Dont like signets. A 6 seconds bleed (thats the only thing doing damage) every 62 seconds? Not good imo. Yes it gives extra power as a passive but you are not focusing on power and need to get every drop of power possible. This is what I prefer to use for a conditions based necro build http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcVm0czzMmFVwmmFmwMaxGa0oMkqMVz8070V7kGW70V7owZ8ofZ
edit: I have a human necro. Dont know if Prayer to Lyssa is availiable in some other form for other races as well.
I feel like you are bashing me for no reason. I just stated my personal experience. Im not a farmer or hardcore player. Im on lvl 5 on fractals. Ive done 4 lvl1, 2 lvl 2 , 2 lvl3 and 3 lvl 4. That is a total of 13 runs. In those 13 runs I got 6-7 exotics(3 named ones) and double(and a bit more) rares. Numerous greens and blues. Ive done enough dungeon runs to make full CoE armor, 4/6 CoF armor, 6 runes from CM and 1-2 paths from each TA, HoTW, AC. I dont remember if I ever got an exotic drop from all those runs. The drop rate just cant be compared. With a decent group a full fractals run (low lvl one) takes the same amount of time as a dungeon run-one path-. Furthermore you are not restricted on how many you can do per day. In other dungeons you get 60 tokens only once per day. I do understand what you are saying about guaranteed rewards of the other dungeons but still my feeling is that you get rewarded more by farming fractals than doing dungeons or farming events out in the world (for the same amount of time spent). Not my fault if Anet introduced fractals and made it a paradise for rare/exotics equips farming. I also mentioned yesterday’s run cause it was after the drop rate screw up that nerfed all the drops.
Once you’ve got the ascended gear you want, I’d look towards some of the other dungeons simply because you can easily convert their tokens into ectos.
If you don’t have two ascended rings and a backpiece with stats you like, though, fractals all the way.
In my personal experience normal dungeon drops (including bags) are not worth it. Greens and blues most of the time. I did a fractals 4 yesterday and walked out with 4 rares. One of my guildies got exotic on top of it. On my best run I got an exotic from a harpy (named armor piece) and another from the last chest(some named bow) in the in that asura-ratasumlike fractal +3 rares. That was a lvl2 run.
What Im saying is that in the time that will take you to do 3 paths of a dungeon so you can get an exotic with tokens you will have probably dropped 2 from fractals runs +a bunch more rares. Thats ofc If your only interest is gold
no they are OP especially in PVE – running instances mostly
Fractals all the way man. Forget any other dungeon unless someone knows something I dont. Fractals have the best reward per effort ratio in the game + chance to get Ascended gear after lvl 10. No world or other dungeon farming, rewards you as much as Fractals in the same time. Try to get in groups that ask for low tier Fractals as it is easier and faster. With a dedicated group Id say farm lvls 1-5 for fast and easy rares/exotics. (when they fix the drops that is)
dont know if that +1 button does anything but I pressed it anw. I kinda left the game now too. You cant actually leave GW2 cause of the lack of sub-fee but anw. Not logging in as much. Agree on all counts except maybe classes. Especially sPVP. I started sPVP a week ago because im not a big fun of the grief 5vs5 matched cause. I was to bored of aimlessly walking around the map so I said lets try it. The first thing that bugged me was the lack of statistics window in the match. Then I noticed what you get from sPVP.. nothing.. skins.. which outside sPVP you got them already. There are no unique reward for sPVPing. And as you said WvW is actually pointless. Ok the buffs that you manage to get stay there but they are so small that dont actually make a difference. Unless you are dominating all week and you get like 300-400k points .
there is an area in the map called steamspur mountains and its closed now.. and the priory is investigating these strange creatures around that area right now. My guess is that we will invade those mountains at some point later on and thats their rally point like orr is for the undead
this could have been like the torment weapons of gw1.. you get random stones drops and with enough of them you can get the ring/rings that you need… I really dont understand why Arenanet wants to get away from the winning formula of gw1
i think since we are getting downscaled in low lvl areas the WP costs should be downscaled as well while we are in those areas. Also we could be charged the same amount as a character of the maximum lvl of the area we are going to. eg. you re lvl 80 and currently in Orr (cursed shore) and want to go to queensdale. Be charged as a lvl 15 character for this trip. not as a lvl 80. Traveling costs are too much compared to how much you can make by wandering around for 30 mins in that area that you are going
Unstoppable..
Unless you fight someone who doesn’t stand in the red circles. o-o
A necro with a wells build can make the whole area of the fight a big red circle.
To the point. An elite well skill would be great
What FotM did ? It just killed any other type of pve in the game. How? It offers the best reward per effort, A chance the drop the best gear in the game right now + exotics in pilles!, Its placed in LA the main community hub so you dont have to go through the nags of other dungeons (try to find ppl on 2 different maps-pay money to get to another map-tiresome loading screens-events to open the doors to it), It does not have a lvl restriction, the effort you have to put to get rares and exotics is ridiculously low and the encounters/ dungeon mechanincs in some of those fractals put almost any other dungeon to shame! Compare a CoE run to a fractals run.. (its the one ive ran the most)
Why would you go anywhere else for gold and equipments?! Go CoE see what you get from chests and boss fights. See how much time you have to spend in there and compare it to a lvl 1 fractal. Go farm in Orr for the time that you need to complete a lvl1 fractals run and compare the results.. Go complete an area and get the final rewards and compare those rewards and the time it took you to get them to a fractals lvl1 run.
Unless by “saved” you mean that it put it to rest so now it wont need any more saving.
What CoE maybe needs is a clearer way to point out that Alpha is going to crystallize someone, cause there is already an animation he does that indicates that he’s about to do that, and a bit better WP on path 2.
See the video walkthrough on Dungeons part of the forums. If you all stay together and preferably hugging Alpha you can avoid pretty much anything he throws at you. See also , on those same vids, how you can avoid the aoe atks. Got 3 more runs to full armor and I can say that with experience this is not as difficult as it first appears to be. It is challenging! What do you want?? You want Alpha, who is a genetically modified supermonster, to just drop on its knees and beg for mercy ?? Coordination is key.
As for Alpha beeing on every path and that beeing lazy… Man thats the “story” of the explorable part of CoE. As you try to escape, Alpha is released also and you have to do something about it while escaping.
well.. that sucks. Thanks for the fast answer!
since release I have uses ghastly claws and that 4 skill on DS many times. Every time the numbers start low and get higher the more I keep the channeling on. Here’s my question.
I went on the wiki and for ghastly claws it says that it does 800something (x8) dmg. I realised I never read the desc of the skill in game. So those numbers that get bigger as the channeling goes are the damage summation of all the ticks of damage done until that point OR are they the individual tick damage? (the damage that that tick just did )
I agree with you. But I think a have a more realistic suggestion. Make the training manuals changeable. Instead of buy once and for each different build you have to reset traits, make the training manuals changeable. e.g. as a necro I can have a grandmaster training manual with a solo PVE build, another one with a sPVP build and another one with a dungeon specific build etc. I really expected this to be an ingame thing already cause otherwise the training manuals make no sense at all. Why is even there a vendor with these manuals if u are going to purchase it once and thats it. ? Making you able to have multiple training manuals for each build you want to use makes so much more sense. The reset traits option its still needed cause you might want to change the traits in the manual for your PVP build cause you found a better one..
As a human, I got my jutes from killing centaurs. They drop those bags with crafting materials inside. Also I salvaged … a lot.. using the crude salvage kit (cheapest one)
dont know what your craft is but as an artificer I can craft steel ingots with 2 iron ores and something else from the profession vendor. That was the next ingot I could craft after iron ingots. Never used silver ores until now. I got the artificer skill around 200 I think
