Am I the only one getting this bug or something?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
I have sunrise and I dye my armor red, gold and white
Oh and yeah I would much rather have Knight’s stats on it that soldier’s, but I’m not about to transmute exotic onto it. Ill have to suffer the 6% crit loss… /sigh

Use full zerkers gear in 30+ fractals then come back to tell us how you did.

While the original Fast Hands trait bug was fixed, the fix gave us a whole new bug: When dropping an environmental object (or a banner) in combat, the 5-second weapon swap cooldown is applied, so you are unable to immediately swap weapons after dropping an object. This new bug is particularly noticeable in Fractal instances which rely heavily on environmental objects.
Here’s a video showcasing the bug

I’ve been looking all over the internet and I can’t find any information about this besides convoluted equations about the effectiveness of toughness vs. vitality and healing power.
What is the exact percentage of damage reduction for amount of armor?
For example, what % dmg reduction does 2,000 armor give? 2,500? 3,000?

Just out of curiosity since this bug took so long to find and fix, what was causing the bug to begin with? I’m not looking for any highly technical reason, just being curious in general.
The fixes are related to translating time from one format to another under a very specific set of circumstances and to the parts of the system that are supposed to recover if something goes wrong when translating time from one format to another. It’s a bit like having your breaks and airbags fail at the same time. Either one is bad, but both together… ouch.
I don’t believe we’ve announced our next patch date so I can’t be any more specific than saying that it’s in an upcoming patch. Sorry to be so vague, but rules are rules. It should be coming fairly soon though.
I don’t mean to pry, but I’m kind of curious about this. 8 days ago you said you had identified and fixed this bug. I was under the assumption that you guys could roll out small builds for specific fixes, and you have done this for several bug fixes in the past. Why does this bug fix that affects so many people negatively get put on the waiting list to be bunched in with a larger patch, weeks after it has already been fixed? What are the advantages of having this bug fix be part of a larger patch (I’m assuming it will be the December 14th Wintersday patch) over rolling out a small build and have people see the positive effects of this bug fix right away?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
1: Transmuting will give you a weapon with the stats you want and the look you worked for. Don’t do it now since its bugged and you will have the exotic status instead of the legendary on the weapon.
2: They don’t fulfill the medal indeed. Eternity does it. Quite…. awkward I’d say.
Thanks for this but these are more of a preface to my questions rather than answers. Has ANet said anything about fixing that transmuting bug, or about Legendary weapons retaining and upgrading their transmuted stats when Ascended weapons come out?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Wait… Sunrise and Twilight don’t fulfill the medal?
That’s correct. Kind of odd considering they are the most expensive Legendaries by a decent margin.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
1. Will there ever be some feature to change or choose what stats to have on a Legendary weapon? (Besides transmuting Exotic stats onto it – I want my weapon to remain Legendary and get stat increase when Ascended weapons come out)
2. Will Sunrise and Twilight ever grant a Legendary account medal and achievement?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Let’s have that patch then. If it’s already fixed roll out a small build nobody would mind!
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Humm has there been any ANet response about this? Is it intended that people who make Twilight or Sunrise (I made Sunrise) aren’t supposed to get the medal or achievement? Seems really odd because those are the two most expensive Legendaries and you need to make both of them to get the medal… If it’s truly a bug then It’s not that big of a deal since it doesn’t really affect much in game but if it’s this way by design it should definitely change. Twilight and Sunrise wielders have just as much right if not more to the medal and achievement than any other Legendary wielder.

So weird it’s now 166 total and I’m stuck at 165/166. Does anyone know which zone they added an area to?

I can’t wait to get back all of my bonuses. Makes the game a lot more fun and playing and winning WvW more worthwhile.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Are you guys awared that those bonuses apply only while inside of WvW map, right? They does not apply in Tyria.
I remember the bonuses working everywhere in the PvE world, even dungeons.

I’ve made over 100 gold in the past by buying Exotics, salvaging them, and relisting the runes and ectos. This hasn’t worked for many weeks though since everyone found out the trick, the price of gems has skyrocketed, and the price of ectos has plummeted. You’d be better off farming in Orr than doing this nowadays.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
or intented, Baaaaandwagon cough
So you’re saying every person who transfers servers is automatically a bandwagoner and should be punished?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Well, it’s been 3 weeks and still not getting bonuses. Must be bugged then
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Oh look another one requiring a ton of Charged Lodestones
Level 80 Norn Warrior
This is one item that is in dire need of help. It is the only level 400 rare crafting material that sells for vendor price on the trading post. It has a recipe for one of the worst runes available (rune of the krait). While all other level 400 rare materials (Lodestones) have several recipes for high end unique items, you can’t even put piles of putrid essence into the mystic forge.
Is this some sort of cruel joke, to make the only decent place to farm at level 80 Orr, and make the rare material that mobs drop there completely useless?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Arkis one of the devs posted not long ago that they are making changes to loot tables for both dungeons and world bosses/events. Whether that means more rare materials, exotics, unique exotics is anyone’s guess, but they said they were trying to get it in for Halloween but it barely didn’t make the time cut. I’d expect to see it on the November content update.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
As someone who is very close to getting my legendary, this recent surge in price of Charged Lodestones is a major kick in the nuts. Not more than a few weeks ago (October 10th according to gw2spidy), charged cores were 10s each. I didn’t buy them then because I was in the process of crafting my precursor, and didn’t know whether I would get Dusk or Dawn. I ended up getting Dawn a couple days ago after a total of about 120 exotic greatswords in the forge.
After checking the new prices of cores the excitement of just having crafted my Dawn was instantly choked. It would have cost 45g to craft 100 Charged Lodestones a few weeks ago, and now it would cost over 200g. And I only have 50g left after crafting my precursor. Go figure…
So what are my options? Run CoE explorable? Farm sparks and air elementals with all the bots when temple is active? And I thought getting my precursor was a pain in the butt. It seems as though everyone who didn’t capitalize on some exploit or speculating on the trading post must now pay 10 times the price for their components.

To be honest I think that all of these unpopular lodestones will be in very high demand once the expansions are released. I expect a lot of ice weapons in the jormag expansion and crystal lodestone based weapons in the kralkatorik expansion. Just my 2c tho not trying to affect the market in anyway.
By this logic, Pile of Putrid Essence would be the most valuable now, and have the most recipes. Ironically, you can’t even put this into the mystic forge.

I notice you also have a full set of T3 cultural armor. Probably one of those guys who capitalized on the mystic forge bug where Godskull greatswords were making precursors. He probably still has thousands of gold after making this double legendary.
Right… it couldn’t possibly have anything to do with having spent hundreds of hours playing the game. Guy’s more successful than you, so he must have cheated?
Troll harder.
He actually said he spent a large amount of RL money on gems to get gold and take advantage of the TP from early on – i.e., buying precursors when they were only 60g. I have 550 hours played, 200 gold, Gift of Fortune & Gift of Mastery (all of the Karma requirements done), and all I need is the Precursor (Dusk or Dawn) and either Charged or Obsidian Lodestones to craft the final gift.
I didn’t buy any gems → gold so I wasn’t able to buy a precursor for 60g a month ago, and since then I’ve been playing catch up with the steadily increasing prices.

It’s cool you had enough gold to get the precursors when they were 60g. I guess i’m just jealous because I never had enough to buy a precursor and I have every other Gift for the legendary except the precursor and the price keeps going up faster than I can make gold.

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that it is intended, to discourage transfers, you won’t get bonuses for the current match and the next, after that it should work as normally.
I’ll check in next week to see if I’m getting any bonuses by then.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
My guild transferred to Isle of Janthir from Henge of Denravi this past Thursday. When I transferred I noticed that I wasn’t getting any of the stat bonuses from my world’s score (Artisan, Energetic, Scavenger, Robust, etc.). I figured it was just because I transferred in the middle of a match and I would get the bonuses during this week’s match.
It’s now the third day of the match, and I am still not getting any of these stat bonuses. I can tell because my because my base HP has not gone up when it should have a +4% from the Robust bonus. I asked my guild and nobody else is getting the bonuses either.
Is this a known bug?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Precursor weapons are obtained through the mystic forge or as a random drop, both of which are extremely low percentage. The only other option is buying it on the trading post.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
What exactly are you trying to figure out? All of the components for legendary crafting have been discovered along with how to obtain them.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Right now the only piece of the Legendary recipe that requires some skill is doing the dungeon runs for 500 tokens. Even that does not exceed normal gameplay. What happened to Fissure of Woe, Underworld, Domain of Anguish type content that was the only way to get the rarest items in the game?
Besides the dungeon runs, a person could literally just buy gold with real money to purchase all the materials, and bot events in Orr, and they have a “Legendary” weapon. Seriously, what is legendary about spending a bunch of currency?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Winning =/= ownership of orbs. Just seems that way cos many winning teams win by a landslide.
Those winning teams can more easily make it a landslide because of those orb bonuses. Without the orb bonuses, the two losing teams would be much more competitive.
I am from Titan Alliance and I have had my share of 3 orb buff decimation of the opposing teams. Yes it is fun, and it is empowering, but at the end of the day it’s just like “outgearing” your opponent. There is some satisfaction in knowing that the person you killed is weaker than you, but it’s very glib.
To have all teams on an equal footing would reinforce the level of skill that teams put into the WvW effort.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
P.S. Orbs have no Tie to the score.
It is possible to be in LAST place AND have all 3 orbs.
Please learn ALL of the mechanics of the game before you cry about them on the forums.[/quote]
Both of the statements you made are not untrue, but they are very unrealistic. Orbs have no direct impact on the score, but the improvement of the stats of the players allows those with orbs to easily win fights, and defend/capture objectives.
It is “possible” to be in LAST place AND have all 3 orbs.
Show me a screenshot of a team in last place with all 3 orbs, and I’ll show you two dozen screenshots of teams in first place with all 3 orbs. Just because it is possible doesn’t mean it happens more than 0.1% of the time.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
You know, this is a very legitimate question.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
So.. orbs are unbalanced. Yeah, change it please.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Linsey, is there a possibility that in the future you will add new forge recipes for precursors? For example, a recipe that have a low-moderate chance of yielding a “precursor component” and several of these components can be used to craft a precursor?
I can’t think of a better solution to this problem… Right now the precursors are 100% based on luck. Adding new recipes will be half luck and half progression, sort of like working towards those 77 Mystic Clovers. If I can do a few combines in the forge and get 1/77th of my precursor that makes me want to keep playing. If I do 1,000 combines and get nothing, that makes me want to quit the game.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Here’s a hint to everyone trying to get precursors: Stop throwing exotics into the forge. Your cost/trial compared to average sell price is enormous compared to throwing rares into the forge. If you throw exotics into the forge, you’re literally throwing your money away. Cost of using exotics is about 10x more than rares or more. Your chance of obtaining an exotic might be higher, but not nearly enough to warrant the additional costs. I think it took me approximately 500 combines until I got my first Dawn and, up until that point, I had recovered 90% of my money invested in swords.
The exotic greatswords I bought cost less than a gold (used to be 75 silver about a week ago)
Level 80 Norn Warrior
The biggest issue with the ways to obtain a precursor weapon is that, unlike every other component of the legendary, there is no progression towards it. Every other component, be it exploration, dungeon tokens, karma, mystic clovers, etc. has a sense of progression. If use the forge recipe to make mystic clovers 10 times you most likely won’t get all 77 clovers, but you might get 15 or 20 – there is a sense of progression.
With the precursor, however, it is not the case that after putting 40 weapons into the forge you are 20% of the way there, after 100 weapons you are 50% of the way there, etc. It doesn’t matter how many times you put weapons in – if you didn’t yield a precursor you are still 0% of the way to getting one. This is why people are so adamantly upset with this currently. They have put in hundreds of weapons and have nothing to show for it; there is no progression to speak of.
A solution to this, as was outlined in another thread, is to add new mystic forge recipes akin to the “clover” recipes, that have a chance to produce “precursor components”.
For example, one recipe may have a 10% chance to produce “Precursor component A” and a different recipe for “Precursor component B”. Once you have say, 10 of each precursor component, you can combine them together with an Eldritch scroll and some crystals or mystic coins to create your precursor. This will give you the sense of progression towards your reward that is desperately needed.
In addition, though not really necessary, having these “precursor components” be a tradeable commodity will help to stabilize the market for all precursor weapons. For example, if you use the recipe and get a “Bifrost” precursor component when you wanted a “Dawn” precursor component, you can just sell it on the trading post and buy the ones you need. It would have much more stability that what we are seeing now, the prices of the precursor fluctuating by hundreds of gold in a matter of days.

So you can get 60 tokens on each path once per day… What time does this reset? Is it 5:00 PDT like the Daily achievement reset?

It seems all the instanced are bugged yet again after today’s patch. This is what happens when you just release stuff with out testing it. I love this game and will continue to play it but Anet is distorting this game. I know at least 15 people who will not play this game due to all the bugs and they feel ripped off for buying a beta and not a some what polished games.
You are over-exaggerating to an extreme degree.

Can’t progress past the part where it says “Accompany Hodgins to find the second scepter” with Hodgins. We brought Hodgins to the place where the next event triggers, but he never triggers the event. We walked him around the whole room and he does nothing.

It’s a bit selfish to make a thread for the sole purpose of an official response from Arena Net, but I am dissatisfied with all of the anecdotal evidence about the Magic Find stat working with salvaging Globs of Ectoplasm out of rares and exotics, and making items in the mystic forge.
So I ask two questions:
Does Magic Find have any effect on the chance to get a Glob of Ectoplasm from a high level Rare or Exotic item?
Does Magic Find have any effect on the chance to get a higher-tier item when combining items in the Mystic Forge (i.e., combining 4 rares to get an exotic)?
Level 80 Norn Warrior
Going to test these traits with steady weapons on training dummies to confirm that these two traits are not working properly.
edit: The trait Berserker’s Power is working properly.
Without the trait, my Steady Longbow was doing 30 damage per hit with auto attack. With the trait, my damage increased to 31 at one adrenaline bar, 32 at two adrenaline bars, and 33 at full adrenaline, which is consistent with the percentages in the description of the trait.
edit2: The “Heightened Focused” trait is a bit harder to test given the randomness of critical hits. To test this, I hit a dummy 400 times total (200 with the trait and 200 without the trait). My base critical, without the trait, is 4%, meaning I should crit 4 times out of every 100 hits. With the trait, my critical rate goes up to 13%, meaning I should crit 13 times out of every 100 hits.
Without the trait (at a 4% crit rate) I scored a critical hit 6 times out of 200 total hits.
With the trait, (at 13% crit rate) I scored a critical hit 19 times out of 200 total hits.
I’m not using any p-value to test for statistical significance, and obviously this was a very rough experiment, but there is an obvious difference in the number of criticals that I scored with and without the trait.
The problems with these traits are display issues. The traits themselves are working properly, but their bonuses are invisible on your character screen
On an additional note, the “Fast Hands” trait is in fact broken.
Level 80 Norn Warrior
(edited by psilosopher.5807)
There are a couple bugs (one more debilitating than the other) in the Discipline line of warrior traits.
The first and most debilitating bug is the trait “Fast Hands”. This trait reduces the cooldown of weapon swapping to five seconds. However, I often still get a 10-second cooldown on swapping my weapon, usually just after entering combat. Additionally, when swapping weapons out of combat I sometimes trigger a cooldown on weapon swap when no cooldown should occur.
The second, which could actually not be a bug but a display issue, is the trait “Heightened Focus”, which increases critical chance based on the amount of adrenaline you have. This critical chance doesn’t show up in my character screen though, and it’s hard to tell if I’m actually receiving a boost to my critical chance.
Thank you for your time and help addressing these bugs.
