I’m just starting to make my ascended gear and this is very disheartening to read, when this game came out I enjoyed my thief as just that a thief as a player and such, now that raids have hit, its looking more and more no different then WoW yes I said it in GW2 forums but unless this game goes back to playing the class as a class and enjoy the fine toon aspect of what PVE is ( player vs Environment ) and not this boss does this so your useless cuz of it, there is no point in playing a thief at all.

Still no 64Bit Mac Client, and Mac still in Mac Beta is this ever going to be fixed? They did patch the over heat of Mac Memory it seems will see if this work been crashing in DS meta 2 to 3 times a night and farming for Mastery points can get frustrating.

I very strong suggest boot camp. I just did that with my iMac use Windows 7. I get 50-65 FPS in areas like DR and LA on most medium setting. I get 30 FPS at boss fights. It look so great I can not believe it. I did not want to do boot camp for a long time because I do not like Windows. I only use boot camp for GW2 so not worried about virus. I did install Avast for being safe.

Thats find but what you use 32bit Windows 7 or what, my Mac Pro can’t boot to windows 7 64bit cuz it doesn’t read the boot, something about EUI file or command or something. All I know is I might get it the 1st of Oct. when I get some money but was hoping someone has tried it with 10.7.5 already but most my guess have newer Macs. I’ll be getting a PC someday hoping to find work in 2months or so, who knows.

Are you able to run the game through bootcamp? HoT should play fine through that. Alternatively there’s nothing stopping you from playing the base game. I’m sure there’s still tons for you to do.

The thing about Bootcamp is this I can’t run native 64bit as my MacPro is a first Gen 1.1 Intel base Mac, so the boot doesn’t see Windows 7 Home 64bit as a bootable disk, so I have to create an image of it on a flash drive and have someone that has a Mac with Windows 7 as well to copy files over to the flash drive NOW I’m not 100% on that just trying remember what I have read over the years all I remember is its a lot of steps 20 or so, plus not having another mac to do this well I’m hosed there.

I’m guessing HoT could run on 32bit but it would only read 2GB of my 7GB of main ram ( yes still have the 2 512’s in there ) and being as new as HoT is lets face it most games wills always run on 64bit. Trust me I have been looking all this up left and right, I just can’t see spending 50 bucks on a whim.

Ok first and for most I want to thank Anet for making a great game I have enjoyed for the past 2+ years, but sadly my PC blew up and I’m on a Mac. I was so happy that HoT was coming but at the time no spects for it. Then the came out and it said 10.8 and above, this is where I got disappointed.

Now for the past year or so since I been using my mac, I have had nothing but, "I’m so sorry your on a Mac, You should get a real computer and get a PC, even to the point of killing myself for owning a Mac from this awesome community of Gw2, NOW the kill myself was from one person and ya take it with a grain of salt and move on. Now as I play this game and stop and look around and enjoy it for all its glory, I have tried to ask why Anet I can play the core game just fine ( though slower but still playable for my liking ) I get nothing from anyone from Anet to why I can’t play HoT because its 10.8. I get no answers to why is its a hardware issue because of the OS, nothing. All I get is you might be able to play this game for fans of this game, but why spend 50 bucks for a base game on not knowing it will work or not.

So I’m done with asking after this post, I want SOMEONE from Anet to explain to me or someone that knows about Intel Base MacPro 1.1 with an HD 5770 ( yes old ) why I can’t play a game all based on 10.7.5 OS compared to 10.8 other then Apple saying we don’t support it, I have explained in chat in game why I can’t upgrade at this time, I will not do it here for person VERY personal reasons.

So Anet if you love and respect the very game you work so hard for I would love a simple answer to why 10.7.5 OS’s cant play GW2 Hot, so I can either move on and quit farming for dusk, and or looking around getting more and more depressed because I can’t play your great game, or maybe I should do what that person said: Maybe you should end it and quit. I’m simply burned out at this point. Take this post and believe what ya want. Good luck for all those that can play HoT and beyond.

ok I have all the requirements for HoT but the OS can someone give me some help Penel, and FlamingFox said I might be able to play HoT I need to know if anyone has done this with the game here or any other game out there? I really want to get this game so bad.

I wish its that simple but not knowing for sure and Anet not going to support it I can’t take a chance to spend 100 bucks only to have it not work, I’ll just wait, I just was hoping someone at Anet would have explained something but there is nothing its all good, anyways have fun playing HoT I’ll just talk to my guild to see if they can keep me on there roster.

Guys thanks for the answers and such, but I think its time I get a new PC but sadly right now thats out of the question tell this family issue is taken care of and this isn’t going to be easy more like 2 or 3 years I wish I can tell but its to personal, I’m just wondering how 10.7.5 is so bad that 10.8 or better is needed, my guess is 10.8 or better just has better drivers and graphic enhancements that 10.7.5 just can’t handle, see my Mac Pro is a Xeon Mac Pro 1.1 witch is over 10 years old yes, if I had the 3K or 4K I’d get a newer Mac Pro or even an IMac 5K but some people have said there not that great for running games. Anyways I just think right now I’ll just be playing ESO since its the last game I have that doesn’t make me go Bootcamp or some 3rd party program that just half a**’s games on Mac.

the sad thing about Bootcamp is it runs in 32bit witch is slower and I’m guessing the PC specs require a 64bit OS on windows, I’ll just have to come back when I get a new Mac or New PC its just sad the game works great for the system I have right now but Anet has to move on just like I have too, its just hard giving up a computer ( Mac ) thats running so well for my needs but thats life

Well I have talked to some people and there is no way I can’t upgrade to 10.8 at this time without getting a newer computer, and sadly personal family comes first, yep life throws a wrench in your life, so as of this Tuesday I’ll enjoy the new changes and then will be moving on from GW2 for awhile its been fun playing this awesome game but in tell I get a new PC or a Mac its pointless to even log in, I’ll be uninstalling the game, thanks Anet and the awesome people I have meant in this game, I’ll try to be back when I can.

Ok I just read the system req. for the Mac its now saying for GW2 Hot I need Mac OS 10.8.xx or later well I’m running on a Mac Pro thats served me well for the past couple of years and can’t afford a new PC or let alone replace this Mac Pro, and I’m running on 10.7.5 and can not upgrade to 10.7.5 from what Apple has said, SO how is it I can play the game now just fine and now HOT I can’t even play anymore?

I’ve noticed it’s been happening more often recently too – however, one fix I’ve found sometimes helps is this:

Minimise your game – don’t quit!
Go to Activity Monitor
Find and Quit the process ‘cookied’ (exact spelling)
It will re-load but this is normal.
Go back into game and re-load Gem Store.

Sometimes this helps, if not, then try quitting ‘cookied’ with game closed. But closing client usually not required. It has taken a few more tries than normal lately though.

Umm where about on the Mac do I goto find this Activity Monitor is it under System pref. kinda confused since this hasn’t happened before.

Ok I have been waiting a Month now for an answer about this issue, and I’m at my wits end to the point of trying to uninstall and reinstall the game. I can’t log into the gem store at all now like I said its been a month now when I sent in my ticket and got no answer to this day.

I’m using a Mac Pro with 2 × 2Ghz Dual – Core Intel Xeon Processors, Memory is 7GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB -DIMM ram an HD 5770 1GB video card.

I can use the auction house and sell things just fine, and redeem my gems or gold for there respected exchange, I just can’t use gems and or get the gem store to come up all I get is a spinning yellow wheel in the middle and at times its just blank. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t I don’t know what to do anymore.

I’m not sure where to post this but its starting to look like people are server flipping as guests to either do the 3 main bosses SB. Claw of Jormag, and Shatterer. Now I have no problem if people help each other and there friends but coming over and guesting on a server just to kill a boss is unfair and disrespectful to native players on there respective server. Is Anet doing anything to fix this in anyway as in invites only to a server ??

I have posted on these forms with alot of frustration for them not giving ANY news about the Mac or anything regarding updates for the Mac, but I have updated from 10.5.6 to 10.7.5 and I’m running all on low and still looks good I did change some setting to medium to try it but haven’t logged in today but I’m pulling 20+ frames in DR and LA on a 2006 Mac Pro 1.1. I can only image what a native mac client would do!!!!! Come on Anet you thought about this game for over 6 years and just 6months ago you thought about the Mac.

For those people that say it takes along time to design for the Mac yeah but when you create the artwork and modeling of the toons and backgrounds THATS when you code for both PC and Mac at that time Marketing should have asked are we going to make a Mac client not going off a few guys in the office have a Mac Air.

Well awhile back I had question getting 10.7.5 OS X well I upgraded on my MacPro 1.1 and I still see they haven’t gone native I’ll be downloading it for fun to see how it works still can’t afford the HD ATI 5770 1GB card yet so who knows I don’t think it will be any different then before was getting 3fps ah well just wanted to try since I been gone for a month.

I hate to say it since this game is free from people that used it on a PC and was able to download it to Mac forget getting answers right away. As for me my system is to slow since its a 2006 model, its just hard to part ways with a tower compared to an iMac or laptop. I’m not seeing any changes anytime soon. Be thankful you can still play at all, they didn’t have to release it on the Mac at all ( witch they should have waited ) but its free for some people, so its done when its done….now where have I heard that line before!!

Its not going to happen guys they would have replied by now, I’m beginning to think they don’t care, I know for a fact if I got an HD ATI 5770 for my Mac Pro 1.1 I can at least play the game on low to med. settings but being its in Mac Beta I’m not going to fork up 250 dollars only to get 5fps compare to 3fps now. Its sad really.

You should run fine, I have the oldest Mac possible and no one person can answer regarding an up-grade I can get so go with the flow and you should be ok.

As for the Beta I don’t think it will ever leave beta I’m beginning to think NCsoft as well as Anet doesn’t care about the Mac as long as its an i5 or i7 they don’t care.

Well I had to quit QW2 cuz I have an older Mac even if I did go from Mac OX 10.6.8 to 10.7 it wouldn’t matter cuz since its a 2006 model intel Xeon witch are better then I5 and I7 ( not mine its old ) but they are workstations systems ( Xeon’s that is ) sadly I don’t want to replace my tower with a smaller Imac or Laptop sorry I’m a designer and my mac s just fine its funny how I can run a 600$ program well 1000 if I get the suit CS6 but can’t run a 60 buck game cuz they don’t want to make a Mac native, so sad I have to give up such a good game.

No need for a refund but regarding specs I just want to know when this beta will end from what I’m getting ( note this is opinion ) this Beta is going to be 5 or 6 more months, and sadly if thats the case my system won’t matter if I upgrade from my GT 8800 to a HD 5770 on my Mac Pro 1,1 my processors are fine I have 2 × 2Dual Core 2 Ghz Xeon the key is Xeon there not ment for gaming per-say there just stable processors, but I’m worried if I get the HD 5770 it won’t make any difference I have yet in the past 3 months no one has an answer if that upgrade will help at all, yes I need 10.7 witch I can get btw.

They aren’t going to release a native client. I’m quite certain they just don’t have the human resources to dedicate to coding a completely native client. Especially consider that this transgaming cider client actually works really really well on macs that meet the requirements.

GW2 makes heavy use of GPU and CPU so yes updating your graphics card will make a difference, but the simple matter of the fact is that if you don’t have an i5 or i7 processor then your’re probably going to run into issues.

If you can run the game on Snow Leopard then that is great, do it. The only reason they don’t support Snow Leopard is because Apple only support their latest two releases, which are Lion and Mountain Lion, so they aren’t going to put even more resource in trying to ensure it runs on an outdated OS.

Then I need to give up cuz I run at 3 to 5 fps regardless if there not going to make a native Mac then there is no point to play this game anymore on my Mac, it saddens me I’m forced to buy a new mac really sad.

I would like the Thank Anet for trying to make this on the Mac, but being a loyal Mac for years I just can’t part with my mac pro 1,1 at this time, I just don’t have the means for 2500 to 4000 dollars to play this game. I had done all the research I can do to upgrade my mac with a 3Ghz ( 300$ plus ) plus labor to install and going to 10.7.5 OSX, even with doing all this its still not enough to play this game. I do wish alot of the new guys with new Macs the best of luck and hope they enjoy this game it was fun tell I only get 3 to 4fps regardless. Thank You and Anet please hurry with the native Mac maybe then I can get 10 fps someday.

Ok so people use laptops this guy ( OP ) has somewhat the same settings I have, I have yet to get an answer from anyone I went to mac Rumors and someone there said my Processors are whats the killer for me ok I’m running 10.6.8 right now I was told I can the ATI 5770HD I believe BUT will a card like that do anything or is this still like the beta in the PC where it was Processor intensive before coming out and running somewhat from GPU. I love my Mac and yes its old but I’m not forcking (sp) up 1500 bucks to play a game.

Ok I have a Intel first Gen Mac Pro, it has 2 X 2Ghz Dual Core Intel Xeon,7GB 667 Mhz DD2 FB-DIM ram,NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB, Resolution: 1680 × 1050, I did have the 30inch but figured I would go with the smaller monitor I have everything on low or None, but all I get is 5 FPS and or 2 to 5 in Lion’s Arch and DR as well. I have 10.6.8 SNow Lep, will getting 10.7 aka Lion help at all.

Up-date: I found out today I can get the ATI 5570 witch seems to work with this system, I have been given the run around I don’t have the money for the card at this time so like I said above would getting 10.7 help at all.

Yep that one Winterknell Laberynth is bugged as well in Blackgate as well.
As well as one in Malcheor’s Leap near the far south of the map some say there is supposed to be an NPC there but nothing but mobs .

Still Bugged as of today on Blackgate (US)
