Ferguson’s Crossing [NA]
If players on the bigger worlds don’t transfer but other worlds do, we could still end up with better pieces to create more balanced matchups. For example say World 1 is 120% of our population goal and World 2 is 100% and our smallest world is 50%. If we were to link the smallest world with World 2, then World 2 would be at 150% and now is much bigger than World 1 creating a matchup that isn’t competitive. However, if the smallest world split their population creating a new small world that is 20% we would have a better world to link with World 2.
Tiers would still remain the same as they are currently. We wouldn’t be adding new tiers along with the new worlds.
Balanced as in population wouldn’t solve much. Sure, you can have even population matchups, but if established servers that have high kill/death ratios play against a group of 3-5 world linkings, the established server would still have the upper hand. At WvW’s current state, kill/death ratio really impacts skirmishes. Not only does having a high kill count help out your score, but it also keeps your PPT at a reasonable level especially if groups are capable of killing enemy zergs in defense.
1. I don’t agree with this proposal. I feel that high tier servers will just hold on to their population rather than moving off to another new server. If guilds in established servers want to grow, why don’t think just do that in their own server rather than a new server? Making new servers would mean that you would have to work from scratch to grow a community and could see conflicts there. We have 24 servers in NA – why don’t we work with what we have rather than making new worlds? It’s possible to promote lower population servers in NA and balance out what you have first.
2. I would focus primarily on working with the established servers we have now. I recommend having incentive to go to lower tier servers. At its current state, there is not much incentive for a guild to go to a T4 matchup compared to T1. I believe that if ANET wanted to spread out the numbers for better matchup balance, they could do so with our current WvW servers.
Also, sure you can match similar population vs similar population. However, at WvW’s current state, I believe that skill level and zerg fighting makes a huge impact to scoring and outcome. For instance, if there is a server with a higher kill/death ratio, they are more likely to win more skirmishes and have a better outcome in the end of a matchup.
3. I would not consider moving. Would rather stick with [LION] and [SNKY] as my guild [Maki] enjoys working with these guys.
I ask that ANET if possible, please tell us what the population balance is about ahead of time before the beta patch. I can understand that when it comes to rewards and etc, there’s no need to disclose that information. However, population is no joke to mess around with. For example, if ANET decides to remove servers, players in those servers that will be removed deserve to know what they need to do for their communities and guilds way ahead of time.
I’m curious to see how anet handles population balance, but at the same time I could just see them adjust gem transfer rates again. If it’s a huge change, please inform us ahead of time.
With the discussion of borderlands, I recall Mike saying that either path anet chooses (remove or not) requires alot of work to be done.
Please don’t just invite popular streamers or huge PvE players who play WvW casually. If you want to get serious constructive feedback, invite players who spent thousajds of hours in the gamemode, have used alot of siege over time, actively play WvW, etc.
Also, consider the types of players too. WvW has roamers, defenders, havoc groups, zerg leaders, and zerg busters. If you want good feedback, have devs go into each server and talk to the community. Most servers should have some sort of community, and you can pick out individuals that play the game differently from each other.
Wvw is a diverse gamemode. If you fix a problem for one playstyle you might create new ones with other playstyles. I recommend anet should take player feedback at a more individualized level as we get closer to decision time with the bls.
Squeeze down the horizontal size of the desert borderlands and I’d be okay with keeping them. For defending purposes, it takes too long to react to groups hitting things in the bl. With increase to siege damage, it doesn’t take much time to bust open even a fortified tower with a group of 10. Honestly, the size of the old bl’s would be pretty good to have.
One huge factor that I think ANET should bring back is the ability to waypoint to all 3 keeps on the map if you own them. The fact that you can only waypoint to the keep closest to your spawn makes no sense to me. I have had many newer players and older vets that gotten back into the game ask me why we can’t waypoint to keeps we own, and all I can say is that is how ANET designed it.
If you are going to scrap the new bl’s you should consider many changes to the old bl’s. For example, with current builds right now I would be able to solo the old tower/keep lords in the old bl’s. Old bl’s have problems in the sense that I can take 1 cata to open a keep all the way to lord’s room. You can’t really do that as much, with exception to center keep.
The lords for each were also pretty powerful in the new bl’s. I liked them as they gave a challenge especially if small group vs small group occurred in lord’s room.
Honestly, I am for either option as long as we see improvements on both ends. If they bring back the old bl at its past state then I will take advantage of it and use the siege spots I’ve put to use for years.
Friday works out. 9pm EST is fine, like old times.
Nice ppt FC! We are pretty active for sure around this time period.
Bump. Great run today. We passed GOM in total points!
FC is stabilized in t6. If you are a guild on FC and wish to recruit your guild on this thread, contact me in game or message me on the forums.
Our guilds on the list are still residing on Ferguson’s Crossing! If you want to join a server with a stable community for over a year you are welcome to contact me!
The 300 camps are extremely easy compared to the old 200/250 camps. The biggest reason for me was how the guardian-type guards were able to apply retal to each other, which was a bit harder to deal with. Now, I find that guards just melt easily.
I can solo a camp with ease, with power or condi build.
There are cases where you can pull the vet supervisor and cap the camp without killing any guards.
So yeah, soloing camps is marginally easier.
The servers around Ferguson’s Crossing have seem to dropped in population by alot. We used to be lingering around t7-t8 due to glicko ratings, but servers like SoR, IoJ, and AR really dropped their population to the point where we passed their ranks. Our population as a server hasn’t changed drastically through this time.
At the same time, there’s not much incentive to transfer to lower tiers at the moment when a large list of servers cost the same 500 gems throughout.
I agree that omegas should definitely be added to the vendor.
Omegas are still viable like most siege. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be.
Map points are likely the x-y-z coordinates of the player’s position on the map. I am sure ANET logs player’s coordinates and could use an algorithm to detect irregular movement.
Heya Maximillian. Take a look at this post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/NA-Ferguson-s-Crossing-is-Now-Recruiting/
Here’s a selection of guilds that you could look at from FC. You may find a guild that you like out of that list!
Great job FC! For being in t6, I am very impressed that we’re going to take 1st this matchup!
Yeah I believe so. I tested by building a normal and superior, and costs 40 and 50 respectively. The siege description says 40 and 50 on the blueprint too.
What’s the deal with arrow carts costing more to build? I noticed earlier when building an AC for defense by myself that it took 4 trips to make a superior AC, with me holding 15 supply a trip.
Now, normal ACs cost 40 supply and superior cost 50 supply? Is it just me or did I miss this is in a recent patch?
Personally I feel that the new maps aren’t that bad. It takes some time to learn it, but what hasn’t been addressed are issues that still persist even prior to HoT. Population issues and coverage gaps in the bottom half of the server list were always an issue, and it shows even more with HoT content out and WvW issues not addressed. Handful of people don’t like the new maps, but I think with how WvW is and population issues, it only reinforces their opinions.
Many bugs showing up in WvW and only a few addressed (took a while for the daily WvW achievements to get addressed…). Also, accessibility of things we used to have, like +5 supply buff on claim, is a huge issue now. This forces guilds to exit WvW if they want to get to guild lv 37 for +5… something that an alt guild prior to HoT could get easily.
I feel that guilds should be able to lvl and obtain core mats in WvW rather than having to grind out in PvE. Unless you have a guild that’s rich enough to buy their way to guild lvl 37, lots of guilds are definitely going to spend less time in WvW.
td;lr: Old problems aren’t addressed at all. New bugs come in. Old problems collide with issues with borderlands map. Why PvE just for +5 buff?
If you kill a yak on it’s way to an object it gives you three points. Also a yak that reaches it’s last object(if there is more than one object on it’s route) gives you three points too. Since Kaineng has an incredibly high tick with pretty much all camps being theirs that’s a lot of yaks reaching their objects.
So why is the effect so drastic now you may ask. On the new map yaks run much faster than they used to(even without Yak-Speed guild upgrade) and they have no respawn timer. On the old map the next yak on the same route would only spawn every 5 minutes unless the first yak was still on it’s way at that point(e. g. northcamp yaks taking more like 7 minutes getting to garrison on the old map). On the new map the next yak spawns right after the first one reaches it last object.
So the new maps actually give the strongest server an even bigger advantage becasue that’s what we really needed… “Yay”.
Wait, since when did dolyaks give 3 pts when they made it their final destination? I know killing dolyaks give 3 pts…
Excited to see the 600+ ppt in our tier 7 matchup! Keep it up FC !!!
bump! I hope everyone is enjoying HoT and the new specializations!
bump. Good to see new faces in WvW!
bump again for visibility

As topic says, guild missions are suppose to reset on Mondays, but my guild’s weekly favor seem to reset on Saturday’s daily reset. Is this intended?
Update: although we failed the missions, they are stuck at 0s on the timer in our panel.
After completing the chicken run course with my guild, having 15/15 players made it across, we waited until the timer of our mission to hit 0. However, we did not receive any credit for completing this mission. Most members left the map at the time, except for a few to ensure that the guild rush ended and we’d get the reward. We had the green check mark to indicate that the chicken run was completed, but still failed the mission.
With WvW Capture and Hold, we waited for a camp to go to tier 1 and afterwards, nothing happened to the mission. We didn’t get credit for WvW mission either.
So in the end, I don’t think missions are working.
Edited original post. Wanted to reiterate that if you and your guild are on the FC server, we can provide TeamSpeak 3 space for your guild!
bump! Feel free to contact any leaders
By the way, if you guys are looking for a new server that is drama free, come to Ferguson’s Crossing! We’re a friendly bunch and always welcoming to any newcomers!
Definitely starting to see new commander tags throughout the wvw maps. Nice to see new FC commanders!
Reducing the rewards coming from dungeons? What’s the point then of doing them?
At this point this is just saying that people who intended to farm money from dungeons should just go to SW. At this rate, SW would probably yield more money over time, unless you have a stellar group of 5 that you can run with and speed clear all the dungeons. But, not everyone has access to that.
In my opinion, ANET should just change the rates for getting gold in dungeons. AC is simple yet yields a deal of gold compared to other paths, except Arah. I feel that dungeons should just scale up in gold reward based on level. Otherwise, dungeons are just going to be for the skins, and if that’s the case, might as well just play PvP to get the skins you need.
As someone stated earlier, I entirely agree that the current influx of our economy is partly due to people who have a huge sum of gold (talking like over 10k+ gold). Those players can easily influence our current economy, no matter how you look at it.
If you are an FC-based guild and you want to feature your guild in the OP, please contact me via in game or message on forums!
Any minor changes such as being able to spend WvW ability points to buy siege would be okay with me at the very least.
In my matchup, I’m starting to notice some Devona’s Rest players building trebuchets to take back garrison from the NW side, only to notice that the placement of the siege is in an area where players are normally siege deployment blocked. This puts players who are trying to hold garrison in an extreme disadvantage, since it’s hard to target.
Attached to the post is screenshot of the treb placement.
To add on, there are certain areas on that cliff where you aren’t siege deployment blocked, but NOT where that treb is located.
So, is this legal? I don’t think players should be able to build in siege blocked areas.
rENT is a very fun and solid group for us in WvW. 10/10 would recommend running with these guys any day.
Edited AoE’s contact info as requested.
Added [rENT]’s recruitment message to our OP.
On a side note, shoutout to players joining us on FC, whether from hiatus, starting out new, or from other servers!
Yea trying to get attention cause we need help. Our guild is the only daily active wvw guild all others are inactive. Or gave up and left..trying to recruit all the time but still no help arriving..
I’m pretty sure my guild runs 10, sometimes even up to 15 man groups in NA prime every day DJ…. as well as late night havoc & roaming till 3am…. (other than tuesdays for guild missions w/ git)
Also [AXME] has been consistently running wvw every night too… can say the same for [GIT], [FS]……
Sure im happy youre dragon/diamond w/e but you bragging extensively, and then talking about our other server guilds as if theyre not even a drop in a bucket is kinda distasteful…..
Just shows that DJ gives 0 kittens about your guild.
Kyro only active guild on DR? So you don’t even acknowledge TMW and AXME that’s on your server? Guilds that can actually fight as a group whereas your guild just run around mindless dunno what to do. I give props to TMW and AXME since they put up some good fights but none to you and Kyro simply cuz all you know how to do is spam /laugh and stack 5 AC’s to defend a gate.
Ferguson’s Crossing been in t8 for quite a bit, but at least as a server, we’re connected and active as a community. We grow slowly, but growth is growth. Dunno what you gonna offer for a server when all you do is spam emote half the time we see you.
While we appreciate your compliment, TMW transferred over the weekend to IoJ. We will no longer be fighting you in T8… maybe in T7 though
. Maki always provided good fights and we enjoyed them while we were there but we decided it was time to go. I do agree that AXME is a promising new guild though that you all should be mindful of. Also GIT does a lot more WvW than they’re given credit for and many will look to them to help carry the server more than they already have as well.
Alright well… I just came to update you on TMW’s whereabouts so you don’t keep looking for us in DR’s WvW
Just heard the news a few minutes ago. Thanks for the fights TMW. We hope to see you guys again for sure. You guys put some great fights and we appreciate them a lot. Good luck in IoJ!
Suggestions above are pretty good. When someone dc’s, it’s pretty much out of their control, and I don’t mind that because it happens at some point to all of us no matter how good of internet we think we have. Right now there’s just no way to punish people who just AFK or sit at spawn and move here and there just so they don’t get kicked from game.
I think reporting for AFK should be added. If a player gets too many reports for being AFK then could have Anet evaluate the player and see what they are doing if possible. Right now, probably not easy since there’s nothing like a record method for pvp games, but I’m sure there’s some way to look at pvp game logs and damage taken/given and points earned logs for that reported player.
I almost have enough gold to transfer to FC, but I want to know:
How is FC better than let’s say… YB (my current server)?
I kinda also want to have a guild first before I join, so I have a group to WvW with almost immediately.
I’ll try to speak from my experience, since I spent a bit of time in the high tiers.
Fights down here have less numbers, so more ability to roam down here without getting run over by roaming groups of 5+. With less numbers, there is essentially no skill lag and you’ll likely not have any serious lag at all.
The community in FC is pretty tight too. All the guilds listed on the first post know each other and we’re pretty friendly with each other. We’re having fun working together and hanging out together, and this ends up with our guilds doing stuff outside of WvW together too, like fractals and PvP.
As for guilds, feel free to contact any of the guild leaders by sending them an ingame mail. It’s a good start at least.

PvP is pretty competitive yeah. I run into games where people talk trash to each other cross teams on map chat and I think it’s cool. I dunno usually I don’t run into a string of games where I get this many AFK/team ragers. Maybe just today bad luck for me or something…
ANET emphasizes the fact that we have one of the best communities as an MMORPG. But, for the longest time since I’ve been playing PvP, I have to say this PvP is the exception.
Today I queued up in unranked, some with a few guildies and some alone, and ran into so many games where people would just stop playing and just type to map or team raging at others. Some games I would have people just going AFK when we aren’t in the lead.
And my last game prior to writing this post, I had 2 people go AFK when we were only 30 points behind (score was like 250 -220) because they didn’t want to play anymore. Nobody said a word in our team or map chat to ignite argument.
Maybe it’s unranked or whatever, idk. I don’t mind if I lose, but when I lose because people stop playing to just type to chat about how they think this person is bad or w/e it ruins playing PvP. I shouldn’t have to wait 5-10 minutes just for a game of PvP to pop up in unranked, only to see my teammates suddenly AFK.
ANet, I would consider looking over stricter AFK rules. I can understand if someone DC’s or has connection issues, but people deliberately giving up to go AFK is very demoralizing for anyone to play through – feels like a waste of time.
Bump. Added a guild to our list of guilds at the first post!
You need a good motivation for yourself as to why you want to be commanding. It’s nothing easy, and if you aren’t in the right mindset for it you can easily break your mood for doing it.
I recommend that if you have a bunch of friends or guildies, you should ask for them to join you in your runs. Even if it’s a few, these are people that can support you in some way. When you run pug groups, you will often see that people will come and go regardless of what happens. Whether you get wiped, you cap a tower/keep, you kill an enemy group, at some point pugs will drop out for IRL, lost of interest, roaming on their own, etc. So don’t let that bother you really if your number fluctuates in a run, or if you had 20 players on you and it decreased suddenly to 10. It happens all the time.
Provide your own siege, especially superior siege. Superior rams and catapults make the hugest difference in dps and people following you know that.
When it comes to fighting, know what all the classes around you do. What can ele do for you? What do necros do? What can wars and guards for the group? Also, choose a class that you can command effectively on for the situation. Are you going to get into huge group fights? I’d bring a heavy class like guard/war. Are you going to be flipping things with a few people? Maybe bring a mobile class like D/D ele that can fight in small group situations while still flipping stuff around. I say this because some builds, like a zerg build for guard, isn’t the best if you only have have a few on you.
Edited the first post. Organized the contact infos so that they are grouped with their guilds. Added a guild to the list.
If you are a guild on FC and you would like to have your name out there in this thread, contact me!
