Seems like there is an issue with the proposed reward structure:

- Tickets are rewarded after the end of each week’s match
- 1st gets 200, 2nd gets 150, 3rd gets 100
- You have 1 week to use your tickets before the next week’s reset or they are forfeited
- Mistforged Weapon costs 300 tickets.

At this point, I don’t see how a player can ever have more than 200 tickets in their inventory. It looks like they want people to buy the Hero weapon (100 tickets) and then possibly upgrade (200 tickets). However, in that case, why do they still show the 300 ticket option for the Mistforged weapon?

you completely missed the point. you dont have to spend them within that week only collect them from the NPC, you can then save them for as long as you wish.

you do realise Solo Queue is essentially random arena as GW1 Random arena had a ranking system just like solo queue’s in gw2.

solo queue is there for when people want random players in a 5v5 game, rank wise it means nothing really as 10 wins and your top all of a sudden.
team queue is for those who have a team of 2+ players looking for more organised fights.

hotjoin is for those messing around with builds or dont have the time to play a full solo queue or team queue, so it will never be balanced as its no Anet who control hotjoin servers as their the ones you get when you use server tickets.

Solo Queue has similarities with random arena from GW1, agreed. But I am interested in the ranking system of the random arena of GW1. Because as far as I remember it, it didn’t have any.

Solo Queue having ranks is already problematic for casual players. So I still don’t see the point of denying a balanced PvP mode for casual players.

The hotjoin system is something that is beyond stupid. How can you test your build, when you are suddenly outnumbered or outnumber the opposing team by 5 to 3 (How can this even happen, that regularly there is a 2 player difference in hot join matches, often at the beginning already?). A game mode for testing builds sounds good, however hotjoin does not offer this to players. Hotjoin is the game mode for opportunists, who farm PvP points to progress on their reward tracks.

I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not. On the small chance your post is serious I can only say that you describe probably the ideal idea behind hotjoin, but in reality the system doesn’t work at all and it ends in 90% of the cases in blow out matches, where you are outnumbered insanely and any supposed build or skill testing is close to impossible any more.

you completely misunderstand hotjoin all it does is put you in one of the available servers that has players its then up to whoever owns that server to do anything like balancing.

actually RA did have a ranking system initially before the big chance to how arena’s worked. but nobody cared because its random.

hotjoin is not a game mode so before complaining learn what it is.

Turret Engineer (AFK)

I remember watching ostricheggs stream where he was playing a zerk dps ele. He and a necro went to fight a turret engi at a point. The turret engi took a whole dragon’s tooth pheonix combo and still manage to 1v2 only pressing 11111 and maybe the occasional turret active.

your post is rubbish and to make sure i went and watched all his vids on his ele and this fight in fact never took place. There was a fight however were he two shot a bunker guardian with his dragon tooth (If he did this to a guardian, an engineer stands no chance against the combo even if the stream existed which it doesnt btw.)ele and also in the same vid got one shot from 100% by a lich form necro. Please do not make up rubbish you only make a fool of yourself.

Eggs fought turret engie and had ready FGS, but don’t activate this skill vs him (1 shot all turret). And when he die he call him “f_c_k_g idiot”. Now i have questions who is “f.. idiot”

a turret engi that can 1v2 an necro and ele even when the ele doesn’t use fgs still doesn’t change the fact that brain dead AI builds still get rewarded too much for doing too little.

So Ostrich got put on fire when he had 25% left and after clearing it blows up the turrets at point blank range with a dragon tooth (Downing the engie btw) instead of standing back downing his buddy in the process after which he rages, switches to his kit engie and instantly gibs the turret engineer.
so basicaly the link you desided to use shows a non engie downing a turret engie but making a bad play hence getting downed himself, raging, and then instantly ganking the offending engie on his engie.

P.S. you should probably cool it on the insults or you might be infracted and get this discussion locked. Try and at least give an intelligent discussion with actual valid evidence before raging at the world next time.

P.S.S. if you skip ahead to 52 mins in you see ostrich basically do almost everything i said in my other posts.

2.ranges and/ or avoids the turrets.
3. baits the engie and kills him easily. (takes about 10 seconds.)

says the kitten insulting and accusing people of lying. Either way it doesn’t matter if he made a mistake of not using fgs or slightly not positioning himself right. Because in the end it still doesn’t change the fact that turret engi 1v2 while the player was probably sitting back and watching TV while it all happened. Too much reward for doing too little.

So basically your just gonna ignore facts and whine about something you cant actually prove. I think were done here.

Last i check this isn’t a thread about a class or build being OP. I really don’t care if this build is top tier strong or a build that is counterable. I care that this build is even viable a is a shameful thing to the pvp in this game. No build like this should even exist where a person can sleep on a zone and have a turret still be annoying to deal with. You can act all superior if you like but have fun with a dead pvp because when players come into the game and see kittens like this, they be outta here in no time.

compared to other things that’s the least likely thing to affect players in PvP.
i think you are putting way too much on a single build or type of build when lets face it their not even top meta builds really.
their builds for the less skilled to get some quick wins but outside of that their easy to counter builds.

every competitive game has these kind of builds wether its SC2 or Dota2/LoL they have the simple builds that may get alot of low level wins but aren’t high level play and so they wont ever be changed balanced wise as PvP should always be of the highest skill level for balancing.

The hot join system is an embarrassment. It is offered by the game and the auto balance feature clearly shows, that it is supposed to be at least a bit balanced. The thing is other than hot join there is no PvP game mode for casuals. When you’re a casual, you don’t want a ranked PvP system, because that is what casual means: You’re there for some fun fights but you don’t want to compete seriously.

GW1 random arena was fun – to me at least – and was way way way more balanced than hot join in GW2. Almost all games started with equal amount of players and when you left the game you were punished and couldn’t join another game for a while. For all who didn’t play GW1: Random arena was a PvP arena where you could join games individually. You would then go in a queue until the match with all 8 player – 4 on each side – would be ready to start. I never waited more than a minute or so.

If people like hot join, then leave it, but please offer a PvP game mode that fits the casual players, who represent still the majority of the player base I would guess.

The leagues actually create MORE varied matches. That’s just the nature of the swiss style tournament.

well this is complete opposite of EU Gold which has forced SFR with Desolation for every matchup except 2 and so because of that its created a poor competition where coming 3rd when facing those 2 is actually more beneficial so you dont face them each week.

they simply dont care anymore and just see this as a cash cow game that will be milked for as much money as possible so we will continue to have seasons in order to promote people buying gems and transfering to easy servers for rewards.

I know this is just a typical whining thread but, with an organized group, this is laughably good farming.

15-20 tickets, 80 tokens, 10 champ bags, all under like 15 minutes. And repeateable too. Good stuff.

actually no its not good farming i can get vastly more champ bags running frostgorge for 15 mins then having to try and spend the amount of time it takes to organise.
also factor in it costs 10g to start the event early this is stupid content that isnt as good farming as you think it is.

Pavillion should be Dungeon Content.

The Biggest problem with Pavillion in its current state is the fact it goes against the whole principle of if your exploring and see somebody fighting you can go help out.
this content forces you to scream at other people to try and get them to move to other bosses(or forcing you to move yourself) essentially part of the reason you would play an mmo.

this is even before you factor in things like Megaserver essentially making it impossible for groups to get into the same instance and the language filter that essentially means their is a good chance in EU servers that most people wont even see your message.

PvE players werent asking for non zerg open world content as lets face it just doesnt work for general players and megaserver has broken most forms of communities that did things like teqautl or worm.
this content is perfect for a guild type dungeon so why do you constantly try and make it open world instead of fixing dungeons so that their challenging.

now i wasnt expecting last years rewards heck the farming was outright crazy but factor in everything and the rewards this year make it simply not worth it when compared to every other form of champ bag acquiring(again why make champ bags the reward clearly youve lost all sense of ability to create anything that isnt a grind)

please next time you have any idea’s like this actually have somebody say “is this a actual good idea for open world content” and you will find yourself quickly saying not it isnt at all.

also expecting people of many different languages(alot dont speak english) is also a major flaw with the whole event in the new megaserver system.

its open world content so while i can understand some challenge this is kinda poorly designed with no consideration to the actual flaws of this system

end game content should be raids set up for organised groups not asking pugs to all of a sudden gain organisation after 2 years of zerg content.

now i wasnt expecting the drop rate of last year but this is poor compared to other content especially in MMO’s especially when Wildstar is launching and has much better designed content(just shame i hate the asthetics) thats designed for raiding and organisation but also has open world content that is perfect for the masses.

If the zerg actually splits into groups and downs the bosses as quickly as possibly (ie, 6 groups simultaneously fighting each boss) then the bosses are easier AND the rewards are better.

you say better yes then their better then bronze still crap for the time spent to do it + the cordination needed.

Why would ANet go through the effort of making and supporting a VoIP service when they can just shift all that effort on third parties?

It does seem a tad ‘unprofessional’

alot less unprofessional then having a voice client built in that is extremely poor quality(played thousands of games with built in and they all suck in quality) that also causes extreme lag on the servers which barely handle the game in its current state.

hosting for the amount of people on gw2 would be huge and at a cost that lets face it would force anet to consider a monthly cost just to cover the voice servers alone.

Teamspeak/Mumble/Ventrillo have been developed over years and now are extremely reliable unless brought from bad host sites.

from what ive gathered you want it for dungeons well its not hard to find a group that do dungeons every day together and ask them if they wish to join a teamspeak/mumble or even skype but even then do u really need it for dungeons as lets face it dungeons are extremely easy.

Tbh im surprised as after talking with several guilds rangers can offer some brilliant abilities that no other class has.

i for one think healing spring is the best water field in the game as it can outheal any other waterfield skill even if they got blasted a few times.
entangle can be an amazing skill when organised to use it at the correct time.

people seem to get pigeonholled into this idea that they are poor and yet i see a few of them in most top guild groups because they have some really useful skills.

if anything i would say rangers have more of a use in general zerg and guild groups then thiefs do

they have implemented a system that allows guilds to start events at times outside of the new spawn times.

while you may be having problems majority have been craving for this for over a year now as places were dead especially those in the smaller servers.

bullkitten is the reward for nothing its like 70+ games for the standard person to achieve this and while it can be done in 2 days with enough dedication its more time spent then actually doing arah with a decent group and this is coming from somebody who does atleast 1 path of each dungeon daily.
it would take 25-30 hours for normal person to achieve 3 weapons + 1 dungeon armour piece this way for arah and yet with my guild group it would only take 20 hours to get a full armour set although it would be across 2 weeks of playing rather then 25-30 hours in 2-3 days. if we then also take into account all the other useful drops u get out of dungeons and the extra bonus gold please dont give me the everybody wants it for no effort kitten.
we take other dungeons and the current rewards are pointless as every other dungeon is much quicker then arah. for example CoF would take less then 10 hours across 2-3 weeks of time to achieve a full dungeon armour set and 4-5 weapons and thats just running p1 each day you then take into account about 20+g made and please explain to me how its meant to be harder then the current pvp rewards system that would take triple that amount of time for nowhere near the same rewards.

So you complete the reward track 3 times to get all the dungeon armour? This would take absolutely no time at all to do, especially when you compare it to the amount of time it’d take you to earn enough dungeon tokens to buy it by running the dungeon.

This is clearly not a bug and more poor wording in the description.

Again, this view of it is ignoring the rate at which weapons are acquired. The reward tracks are giving 3 weapons per piece of armor. Weapons are more costly than armor is, and that’s the biggest argument for this being not working as intended.

Then they should remove some of the weapon rewards. It seems that everyone wants everything for nothing in this game.

Proposal: decrease the player cap on WvW maps

while i do feel changes need to be done in order to promote less zerging i wouldnt say decreasing the cap is one of those unless it was part of a huge amount of changes that all benefited each other.

one of biggest problem with zerging is how beneficial it is in order to win especially when your just running around capping everything. they need to first make big changes to reward system when defending and attacking points with the defenders getting alot more then attackers do , that would benefit less of the zerg running around capping everything and not bothering with defending because you wouldnt get as much in terms of rewards.

then after making defending more rewarding then capping points add better benefits to the outnumbered buff so that if people was still willing to zerg against small numbers they would severe drawbacks even as far as making those outnumbered drop no lootbags and their keeps not giving any rewards.
also add in a outnumbered buff where their stats get a boost in order to compensate while also making them gain extra points for capping towers/keeps while outnumbered this would give those constantly outnumbered a way back into the fights if they was able to cap a few towers and make up like 10k in points and most likely lead to fights lasting the whole week between these servers.

a server cap is one of the more severe options that can be considered but should be seen as a last resort in order to balance things out.

with the announcement of megaserver i wouldnt be surprised if eventually we moved to a eotm system based on colour and teaming up with other servers of same colour that week it could also benefit the smaller and larger servers at same time, although would need some adjustments in order for it to work for standard wvw maps.

another thing i think is the home server for that bl should never be able to be outnumbered and their is a soft cap on how many of the other servers could be in say the home server has 100 people in their own bl the other 2 servers could only have 70 each or something similar in order to promote that the home bl has the big advantage on that map as it should have.

Gw 1 features , where are they ?

they did clearly state alot of the features would be different and if your that bothered about those features go back to GW1 as its still getting patched.

GW2 was stated as a different game with new features just was built on the lore of GW1 they never stated it would have all the features GW1 had at any point.
