the problem for most servers that do not have large WvW populations is coverage. The new map is fun. I enjoy it. But is draws from the already limited pool of WvW players. This does not hurt a server that has huge WvW populations. Say daytime 50 plus. But a server with a daytime pop of say 25 or 30 that loses 10 or 15 to the new map is screwed.

I really enjoy WvW even when the matchup is against my server. I also like the new map. What I don’t like is that the new map takes players from WvW which in turn make is even harder for a server with low population to stand against the inevitable and never fixable mismatch problem the game has for population in WvW.

I don’t see anyone forced into this new map. What I do see is a alternative WvW fix (as in drug)for the any server that is outmatch in regular WvW. My server for instance has a low central daytime population. Because of the new map people are going there instead of regular WvW because it is a short match lots of badges. They have no reason to put up a good fight in the server WvW regions anymore.

I understand the idea of this was to make it easier for few to defend against larger numbers but it is being used by the larger numbers to bunker down and hide behind t3 walls. People leave a scout at each tower with treb behind gate and spam the cow on gate to remove supply even though they have equal or greater numbers on the map that hide behind walls. This is leading to trebs trebbing t3 towers which get counter trebbed and hours of stupid siegewars even when opponents have equal/greater numbers… Please consider removing the supply drain from cows.

Suggestion:
Consider making the poison do more damage or insert a cd for supply lost. Like 1 supply ever 5 seconds. Right now most supply is lost within secs.

Well I have not found out what the season rewards are going to be, so if you guys happen to know post them. In the mean time I would like to say that the new system has increased WvWvW participation on my server allot ( This is a good thing!!). We are currently leading bronze league in NA. I love WvW. so I wont care so much about what is in the chest. I just hope it is enough to keep players in WvW for the next season. Cannot see how people are complaining about rewards so far I make quite a bit of gold off the drops from WvW. I have even managed to get one Pink item and several exotics. Leave the Devs alone till season is over then complain if they fall short of expectations

It is hard to figure out which server will fit my play style. I love to man siege and defend stuff. I like to see if I can stop zerges and small groups form getting my servers towers and keeps. If you are on a mid to upper level server and your server takes pride in defending its borderlands. Post it here and you might get a new defender to shore up your ranks. P.S. I don’t zerge, if your sever has a balance that is what I am after. Cuz I know zerging is required in the game.

Everyone would not sit in towers. But it would give people incentive to help defend them. When called. Yes some people would just run to a tower and stand around but you already have people that just follow zergs and don’t actually help just to get experience. I think it is a realy good idea. I don’t see a down side. If you are one of those people who think that WvW should be open field PVP there is a place for you if you are one of those people that like to zerge well you will have ample opportunity. The current system only encourages zerging and does literally nothing to get people to defend.

There is no incentive to defend right now. So any good idea would be appreciated. However you want to describe it give me some real feedback. Taking a tower or keep already give the rewards why not make it so that people who mainly defend can get them too. Is it griefing to love using siege to kill the enemy that is trying to take the keep or tower. I don’t think so. It might be inconvenient for a group that is trying to take the objective, but that is what the game was initially designed to do. Not just a big roling ball of experience chasing mindless blue taco followers. And yes that is what people who zerge are.

Defending has almost no benefits right now, unless you are like me and love to see if you can ruin a zergs day. A fix to that would be to give better rewards when the timer is up, and you have successfully defended a keep or tower. These rewards should be the same stuff the zerg would get from taking the tower or keep. How many and what percent of drop you can figure out. This would be an easy fix, would not require much programing and could be implements fast. Make it profitable for people to do what WvW is set up for. I BELIEVE THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF WVW WAS TO PROMOTE TEAM WORK AND HAVE EPIC FIGHTS DEFENDING AND ATACKING. This was lost with the advent of zerging.

Ascended drop rate in WvW?

Ascended trinkets are available in WvW for a reasonable ammount of Badges + Laurels and some for Ectos. This can all be completely achieved in WvW itself. Now it is clear that we will not be able to get all crafting materials etc. required to craft ascended weapons from WvW but they are supposed to drop from Camps, Towers, Keeps and JP’s (pls correct me if I am wrong), but does anyone know the drop rate of it? Has anyone already received an ascended weapon as drop?

I just want to get an overview how likely it is that all player can get access to ascended equipment without spending a ton of time in PvE or spending around 200g + for the “buyable” parts only to reach lvl 500 in the crafting discipline where I want to start creating an ascended weapon…

I have receive one ring from the WvW leveling chest and have seen two others in my guild get them. The developers specifically stated that the ascended drops are going to be rare. Not sure about the weapons part though have not seen anyone get a weapon.

I feel for you. I was on ET for a while back when SF was a monster. There was several times when we could not even hold a tower due to lack of players. It gets like that on my new server when the matchup is really bad say a strong tier 4 or 5 server against a tier 7 like mine, but mainly during the non peak hours. Most of the time my server hold its own well. You might want to change to a middle tier server. I know that sucks and server loyalty issues come into the picture. But if you are a serious WvW player and spend most of your time there then it is probably best for you. A-net really don’t have a fix coming for the population disparities in the foreseeable future. It might change some when the Leagues come out. But even with the leagues there will be blow-outs till it is fixed.

Or better yet get back to PVP, or go Zerging, The blue Taco commander need mindless zombies to follow him. Just remember to give me badges when I farm you from my siege.

I personally would hate to be waiting 30 minute or and hour or longer just to get into WvW. Especially since it is the only part of the game I play. STOP Complaining. Try to see the cup as half full.

Since you have long queue , I assume you are either in T1, T2 or T3 server.
So you won’t understand what it mean to be the receiving end of total blowout.

In total blowout spawn camped, you won’t have siege(it get taken out by enemies siege), you don’t even have supply to build one (since camp is taken and guarded), you can’t even leave spawn.
Fun? I think not.

I don’t have long q times and never will because I wont move to high pop servers. I have been on ET and know what it is like to get completely blown out. Read the post properly and don’t use beer goggles to interpret it.

Wall Siege

Siege build spots need to be changed in the game. Mortars for instance are in the middle of a wall and at certain angles you cant fast tap because it will hit the part of the wall in front of you. The are also very easy to hit from the ground. Any ranged AOE can kill them. The best placed mortars I have seen in the game are in EB in the Lowlands keep. Two of its mortars are placed properly. All other wall siege is just a free badge zone for the attackers. Lets make a few minor changes so that siege is placed in realistic spots. It is not hard to figure out where to place the siege. Look where you want it to hit and where is should hit and then place it so that you can hit that area. I do not think it would take that much programing to change. But I am not a programmer just someone who uses siege allot.

My play style will not change much, no matter if we have a league or not. Ill be the one on the siege killing everyone. As long as A-net makes sure that the PVE players have to help out to get the rewards I am all for it. Since Carver said they will have to complete at least a Meta Achievement to get credit, I don’t see a problem. Its not the perfect solution but it is better than nothing. I just hope it is not an easy Achievement. Make the free loading Fair weather WvW players work for their reward. If people want to transfer let them. Whatever server they go to will have nasty q times. They wont be able to change maps fast to stop say SM from being taken because both the opposing servers are hitting it at the same time. If the more organized commanders and players are on a different map they will lose it. Same would be for their borderland. I have read many of the forums on leagues. It is not going to go away, it will happen.
What I don’t want is people to get rewards for just being on a server.
If a person does not participate in WVW allot they should not get the rewards that come with it. MAKE IT SO THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE A WVW WEEKLY OR MONTHLY DURING EACH SEASON TO GET THE REWARD. This would prevent the PVE’rs from getting something they don’t deserve, and also if the rewards are nice make more PVE’rs start to WvW to get those rewards. Bring on the league system but do it right

do like I did and just save up your money. It cost about 35 gold to move servers right now. I am not going to move since I found a good guild but it is besides the point if you really want to move farm for a few days.

ealier someone posted that people are in WvW because it don’t require skill. This is misleading. You don’t have to be good at PVP to be good in WvW but I would challenge anyone to try a defend or take a tower or keep with limited players and see if experience, knowledge and skill don’t take a part in it. Simple knowledge like I dropped supply in the ram should I run get more or stay and defend the ram. How many people are staying. Is there an inner gate I need supply for or is it a tower. How many are defending it what siege do they have. Where should I place the ram next to door or away from door in just the right spot so the user don’t die form AC fire. I could go on for days about WvW skill which many people don’t have. So please don’t say there is no skill involved. Leave that statement for the blue taco followers who blob and zerge around for experience.

love the idea and when my server is at full strength we can do that. I need ideas of how to defend against them with smaller numbers. But that was a very nice tactic, just wont work in my situation now when they have superior numbers 40 plus and omegas

I just reached rank 100 and have my skill point placed very well. I do good damage across the board. I think about each trait I want to drop points in ask questions. I believe I have most points in the right places for my game play style. I do not want them to make it easy to reset points. I love the skill point process and since trebuchet mastery came out, I have really made it an effort to start getting it maxed. But that gives me something to work for. We have too many people who want to just get everything for free in this game. Look at zergers for instance. Most of them could not defend a keep or tower to save their lives. If they do know how they don’t do it because it is easier and gives more experience to just zerge it back. Follow that blue taco and don’t think. They ruin WvW cuz they are just after experience. The developers wont change it because it is popular to zerge, and when something is popular they make money. Don’t make it easy to reset skill points, please make them work for something good for once.

LOL, the guardian Idea is good, but not realistic for off peak hours. Getting 10 players during off peak hours can be challenging at best unless you are maybe T1 or two, I have never been on the top tier servers. But unless your server is blessed with a good sized off peak population you wont get 4 of any class defending. I will use it during peak hours though nice idea. Here is hoping they don’t nerfe it like they did elementalists being able to stop treb shots. Still don’t agree with that one. Who cares if they can perma stop a treb for a half hour. 3 or 4 players are standing in one spot and not somewhere else attacking is a good thing and would make me want to treb more. If someone has the patience or organization to do it more power to them. They could have just nerfed it a bit so that the wall receive damage but not full damage.

Wanted to start this thread so that I can maybe learn a few tricks for defeating Omega golems while defending. I am very good at defending, but my bane right now is Omega Golems. Before it was not an issue because they cost allot of money. Now they are like dime store candy. So I need to learn how to adapt to the new tactic. Siege on the wall is useless against an omega unless you have a ton pre-manned.
A omega can kill wall siege of any type in 2 or 3 rocket volleys.
Arrow Carts are nice but they don’t kill fast enough to be effective against a golem unless you have like 4 or 5.
Balista’s need line of sight and are easy to kill by anyone with a ranged attack.
Cata’s many times cant reach next to the wall where they are hiding or are too slow in turning,
Cannons are normally killed by any intelligent zerg before the golems are brought up. Mortars and Trebs are nice but too slow unless the golem driver does not know what he is doing.
Compound those problems with a 30 or 40 man zerge and defenders don’t stand a chance.
Any incite good or bad would be appreciated.

Thanks for replying, I don’t believe price will fix the problem entirely but it is a start. Omegas rockets are just so dam OP, They can clear a towers wall defenses, then just stand back and rocket down a gate or wall. The only time I have been able to stop them is when the attackers are morons, which happens sometimes, or when we could get enough numbers to push and kill them. Maybe there is a tactic out their I am not aware of that allows you to defend against this problems, if there is, someone please share. Always willing to learn new skills lol.

Omega Golems

Omega golems were to be feared in the game before you could buy them or make them so cheaply. Now they are just impossible to defend against without huge number of players defending. They are being overused and have thrown the balance of WvW off. Before it would take skill to get into a fully upgraded keep if you had say 10 defenders in it. Now you just need a 30 man zerge and a few omega golems. If a server has little manpower during the off peak hours they don’t stand a chance. Just bring in some omega golems clear their siege in 30 seconds and it is game over for the defenders. The omegas can hit any wall siege and kill most AC’s in 3 hits and superior AC’s in 4 hits. Cannons would be an option but it the attackers have any inteligence they would kill the cannons before they bring the omegas in. We need to figure out a way to balance the game again. Make it more expensive to build them or lessen their rockets range so they can hit well place wall siege. Need help figuring it out.

Fixes for Zerging

First Fix for Zerging. One thing that might help fix is titles that discourage it. Titles such as Castle Defender or Garrison Defender. Other titles can include such stuff as Cannon Master, Siege Destroyer. You can go on from there. Make more rewards for people who successfully defend a point from the enemy.

Second fix for Zerging. Make a cap of some kind on the experience you get from running around in a Zerge. People will not want to Zerge if the experience receive is split up between each of the players involved. I/E if a player is with 100 other players taking a tower down, the experience they get will be divided up between a 100 players. Stops people form leveling their Characters through the Zerge. Which from what I have seen, is why allot of people do it.

Frustrated! One of the FC guys hit it on the money when they said T8 is broken. SF, FC, and ET all have very good players. The problem is FC and ET barely have enough players to hold SF at bay during peak hours. In the past few weeks, I have heard that some of the FC major guilds have quit WVW. The rankings look like this might be the case. My server ET also seems to be losing players slowly, due to lack of motivation. I have even thought about paying to transfer to another server. I just want a somewhat even match-up. Switch the ranking system so that it goes by server populations, or even better, WvWvW player population. I don’t care about moving up in the tiers, I just want to have a fighting chance. Unfortunately ET and FC don’t have one right now. No one can defend against a 30 to 70 man zerge with an non-upgraded keep and the Outmanned buff. We should not have to go on vacations or whatever it is FC is doing just to let SF have a few blowout weeks. With the system the way it is we will probably run into the same problem with the next server that moves down.
