Is the 2-week suspension only for people who insult people who work for ArenaNet? Or for people who insult people?

I’d be fine with all of this if it was an across-the-board rule of respect for all of us. It’s a serious issue of basic human respect if not.

We were told something about a spunky female being behind the molten alliance stuff. And the prisoners at the end said they were mad at someone (can’t remember if they said it was a she) who was manipulating them all. And the image below came out around then.. not sure if it’s the same person.

I don’t remember if this was ever answered. Has it been said who she was?

Getting killed by a single attack from full health is almost always a bad idea. It sours my experience.

It’s made even worse by the fact that enemies appear out of thin air, and simultaneously pelt you with 5000-10000 damage multiple attacks. Dodge isn’t unlimited but their mega attacks are. It’s not even possible to dodge most times because they begin attacking before they’re even visible.

There’s no strategy. The pile of defeated players can attest that there’s a problem here. People have complained about this map being full of monsters that were overpowered and not worth it. So the response is that they get buffed and attack in zergs that are individually more powerful than a vet anywhere else.

Does anyone care about what we’re saying?? This feels like Anet holds a grudge against us and wants us to have a bad time, and lose money. Please treat us like our time and energy is worth something.

I find the most disrespectful and insulting responses are directed at people making a complaint about the game. It can be a calm, rational complaint about something that is broken, but it will be met with hostility from another user. One person’s criticism of a game isn’t personal towards other players, so there’s no need to react with insults.

I rarely see people just accepting that someone else has a different opinion. Sometimes it’s trying to convince that person they are wrong, but mostly it’s just ridiculing them for having that opinion via the unconstructive “QQ”, “whiners”, “idiots”. These posts don’t contribute to the topics but they remain.

I feel like reasonable-minded people of any opinion are driven off of the forum because they don’t want to deal with the hostility.

I have 2 stun breakers, but I’m not waiting on an attack to press the button, I’m running to get somewhere. There is time between deciding where to go next, noticing you are immobilized, rushing to hit the panic button and if the thief hits their 2 buttons before that, I am dead. And no, you shouldn’t need to be an expert with his finger always over 7 in case a thief is around you at all moments in PvP, that’s crazy. No other class requires that.

Also, stun breakers have 40-45s cooldowns. If yours aren’t available, it’s instant helpless death.

For the Lord: I did run to the base, catching the thief while the door was still up. and doing a bit of damage, but of course stealth + 33% speed means they have no fear of dying, and they raced up to the lord, bypassing guards (as only thieves can) and got to work. I had used immobilize and 2 knockdowns + aoes, and only a couple hit because they were dodged or blocked. I managed to get his health down to a sliver (with practically no help from the NPCs), but he vanished, healed, and resumed until Lord died.

There’s no reasoning that makes this is a sensible behaviour. Until it is made sensible, I’ll choose away from Thief.

Feedback/Questions: The Megaserver System: World Bosses and Events

Clark Skinner.4902

In my experience contested waypoints are normally open for most areas, closing them off from outside map travel adds additional in game cost and load time delay (my big concern).

The system was built with the idea that those contested points were placed in relation to open waypoints in a way that made sense. If additional waypoints were placed near contested area, but just outside the range, that would make more sense. Or maybe move the existing waypoints out of the contested area, have them always on the fringe. As proposed the plan is going to make getting around a chore, and it already is.

Compare WoW. Running somewhere sucks for time, but you get to see the world between point A and point B seamlessly. In GW2 you get loading screens if you try that over distance. It’s decidedly worse. But GW2 has the leg up on WoW in fast travel. The waypoint system is fast and efficient, but suffers from loading screen downtime. Flight points in WoW are pretty, but ultimately a time to sort your bags and get a drink. Nearly as bad as loading screens. I I could have windows open during loading screens, things might be different. I frequently have a 3-5 minute wait on loading screens, though usually somewhat shorter in map.

Something more has to be done than locking down contested waypoints. This is the easy solution, but there has to be a clever or at least elegant one.

AFKers are still a problem with scaling. Dead players too. IMHO that is a fundemental problem that needs fixing. The overflow problems encourage players to linger, which curses the next event.

You can’t really blame people for wanting to stay as it’s very hard to get into local servers. So the solution has to be to make their Akitteng not affect the event. This can of course be done, since there are AFK counters already in place.

3. They are stopping me from buying because my orders just get topped with huge stacks that will take weeks/months to come in. Same with for sale items. I’d love to make it so that you could only outbid/undercut if your stack size was smaller. It would cause some disadvantage to mass production, as there is none currently.

The trade off is already there. You’re trading off sharpening stones for only having them affect certain enemies. And also the storage slots are a big tradeoff. The fact that it already is considered normal and not strange for women to be half-naked when going into battle, while men are fully covered, proves that people can be influenced by this. Making women look more sexual is one more push in the wrong direction.

While a few of us may be mature enough to realize how bizarre it is and not be negatively affected playing with it, it gives a bad impression to the rest. I think it’s better for gaming society in general to get out of this habit.

Stop TP flipping by applying a selling cooldown

Clark Skinner.4902

Flipping is not using your brain. It is the least difficult way to play the market. And there are different ways to play the market without playing the middleman. It is unfriendly, wastes gold and makes it more difficult for people who want to buy or sell something to actually do it.

I have made money by crafting things that are hard to find, buying materials for crafting cheap, looking for the best way to dispose of items. This is actual effort and thought making money. Flipping is something anyone can think of and do with next to no effort.

I like the idea of not being able to buy huge stacks of an item at once.

I don’t think a feeless TP will make prices skyrocket. It will make buy/sell prices equal and pointless. There would be no way to find deals as a flipper would take even 2c difference and sell them in bulk.

The more time goes, I feel like the smartest and most consciencous players will do worse than those who don’t care about the economy or the way they do business. It’s coming down to “lower yourself or stop making money”. Which for me means stop making money.

Trading post outbid text alert programs

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Clark Skinner.4902

Clark Skinner.4902

Wow. This thread explains so much of why the trading post has been getting gradually more of a headache for me to deal with.

There have been items that I keep getting outbid on and it seems like it’s by one person. I will put my bid in, then very soon afterwards it is outbid. There are long stretches where that bid is the top one, but as soon as I bid again, I have been topped.

I had thought there were people who just spent their whole day checking to see if they had the highest bid. But that is just way too much work, and there’s no way to play the game while doing that. That work + the inability to play is the HUGE advantage in these programs. Holy cow.

I’m undecided about how I feel about them. Part of me wants to use one, part of me wants them to be banned. I feel like the advantage should go to people who work harder. I’ve made my own excel sheets and put tens of hours into making trading more efficient. But this is an advantage that is both automated and requires no work for the end user. That’s an undeserved advantage.

If some can use this, everyone should. But if everyone used it, buy orders would be a frenzy of outbiddings until they met parity with sell orders, and the whole purpose would be defeated. That fact tells me these programs aren’t good for the game.

Spidy refreshes every 15-30 mins. And it’s the autobidders that are cheating. People are doing it 24/7. A minute or so after they are outbid, their old bid is removed and a new one is replaced. There are one or two bots dominating areas of the market that others can’t come close to competing with. It is automating in-game actions, getting an advantage over other players by doing things that take time with the slow UI, and can be done at the same time as doing other in-game activities. It’s solid cheating and it’s being completely ignored by Anet, unless it’s them doing it.

It already has been upgraded. Back in November, guaranteed loot was given from champions and veterans, and made so that they are worth fighting over normal mobs.

Yet despite that firm promise, nothing changed. And then they said they identified the problem and fixed it, except nothing changed. Fortunately, we only have to kill champions for an additional 2 months, on top of the 10 months already played, before we can begin to get something somewhat more worthwhile.

Ele buffs helped non-eles more

in Elementalist

Posted by: Clark Skinner.4902

Clark Skinner.4902

This patch buffed all of the classes, but the buffs for ele really help other classes instead of the ele.

-The Geyser got bigger. Eles don’t need it to be bigger, they can target it on themselves. The extra size helps allies get affected by it. (when they don’t reflex dodge out of it, that is)
-The water auto-attack heals those in melee range (not staff ele), which is a buff to other classes.
-Unsteady Ground is just a CC now, not even a combo field like Line of Warding, and reduced eles DPS and ability to tag. I’d rather the guard use its Ward so I’m able to do enough damage to merit a loot drop. And against bosses, this is useless.
-Conjure weapons are a utility skill that is given 50% to the ele and 50% to the ally who picks the other one up. And considering a lot of other classes do more damage with a conjured weapon, these buffs help them at least as much as it does eles who dare to sacrifice a utility to slot Conjures.

This, in addition to the nerfs to AoE, attunement radius, evasive arcana radius, glyph of storm targets, glyph of storms having a red AoE circle resulting in them being dodged, no heal from water auto-attack 1 if nothing targetted, Windborne speed radius reduced, healing rain radius reduction, Glyph of Renewal range reduction.

The only buffs that help the ele is making Blasting Staff trait affect the AoEs it hadn’t been affecting, and the earth 5 going slightly faster so it doesn’t miss as often.

I had no idea that catapults were even being built or that we had found a way to penetrate the shells. We have a lot of stuff to read, and most of it isn’t important. Some clear and concise pre-messages saying “If they come back, we are going to have siege ready for them and weapons for everyone. If you see an invasion, run to ____ to arm yourself. We will be more prepared for future assaults” would have given us the feeling like we were supposed to have an invasion to stick around for.

In the Aetherpath, when someone walks near the generator, their camera flips around and I think it may warp them away from the generator a bit.

It can glitch out because depending on the angle you approached it, you can press forward, walk to it, get flipped around, and while still pressing forward you walk back into it, get flipped around and it repeats.

The character gets caught in a loop. And during the Oakheart fight, that’s the last thing we need.

I think it’s probably an effect from when the shield is around the generator, so that effect can be removed once the shield is down to fix this problem.

I tried to talk strategy before each attempt, and I talked to others about how to learn after each attempt, but it isn’t working. The event should take into consideration human nature, and not expect human nature to adapt to the requirements of the event. Each map will have newbs and we can’t control them, as hard as we try. Nor can we control people who are unwilling to WP or those rezzing defeated. Those of us that are doing it right are meeting the same loss as those doing it wrong. It should be gotten by everyone who tries hard, and if people want challenge on impossible difficulty, they can do it for achievement points that don’t have a reward.

Saying that content should be hard so that only 5% of people can beat it doesn’t fall in line with everything GW2 has manifested itself to be up to now. And to me, the bragging rights of 5% aren’t as important as the enjoyability of the whole playerbase.

Everyone has a different preference as to difficulty. They can’t make it suit every person.

The bad camera angles and bad visibility of aoe circles or monitor flare have nothing to do with difficult gameplay, it’s just bother.
