I don’t think GvG can happen with FA/TC simply because of the level of mutual antagonism and vitriol. For GvG to happen there has to at least be a small level of mutual respect/trust and repeated efforts to try to establish this has failed.

Maguuma and almost any server will do gvg and fight clubs no matter what level of forum trolling goes on. That’s not really a reasonable excuse. People generally will be fair except for those sneaky [awe] guys and their trebs in gvg

If there’s no respect, there’s no trust. If there’s no trust, there’s less inclination to do anything that requires cooperation like GvG. Because there’s no trust, there’s no guarantee that a 5v5 would be honoured without some big gank squad swooping in and voiding the agreement. And given TC/FA history that just keeps perpetuating itself, it’s completely reasonable. But I don’t speak for the big guilds. This is just my observation.

That’s why you have someone record it. Hard to argue with video evidence. BT is more than willing to have a fair, friendly GvG with any guild willing. So far our requests are met with silence or excuses and that makes us sad pandas.

Then help change this toxic climate we have here. Stomp your trolls, we will stomp ours.

Our history doesn’t have to be permanent. But it’s limiting so much more that could happen, I think. At least for some.

The match-making based on Glicko can generate very varying matches, look at this weeks EU T1-4: 3-1-8, 9-2-4, 10-11-5, 8-7-12

Do you know the populations of NA servers, or you just making up bullkitten? The way anet’s glicko system works, its nearly impossible for glicko to transfer between tiers. Look up the history of NA servers: T1 servers have had 2100+ rating since mos launch, T2 is generally around 1900, 8th ranked server has a big glicko drop from 6th, with 7th somewhere inbetween. Do you think NA somehow perfectly maintains this ratio of stacked servers? Or is it more likely that the glicko system is fundamentally flawed for wvw?

Jayne, there’s NO WAY every server will be equal, nor should they ever be! People like different things. There is no “Goldilocks Zone” where it’ll be one size fits all. The fact is, the No.1 complaint on these forums for the past THREE years has been population imbalance. A demand for WvW population accountability and a measure to control it. If you don’t know that, then you haven’t read the forums much in the past three years.

Anet has finally given that to the players, since they were unwilling to move or transfer and try to balance out the servers more instead of stacking like lemmings on one server — and then complaining about lack of variety, lol.

Honest to god, folks need to let go of the idea that they MUST have the blue ribbon or they’re nothing. EU has managed this — well there are some like that on SFR — I’d hope for the same for NA, since it’s been the biggest complaint for three years.

As for map cap, I suggested 60 (like they experimented with a couple months back) to increase queues and maybe nudge some in the right direction to self-fixing this piteous NA problem. But hey, 30 cap would likely make that go faster! So I’m all for it!

Even if people do move, it will never be “fair” and “Goldilocks” … but it will rely more on player skill and not numbers, and I think most people playing WvW would prefer that to the mindless blob.

And if I was a guild, my perfect gaming environment would be one where I’m constantly challenged each week by new teams, so we could improve collectively, instead of the same stale matches, week after week. Stale = bored = players quit.

That said, it would take you a while to get all your guys over to TC, but I think given the fact that you wouldn`t have to worry about server implosion here probably makes it the most attractive idea. Jump once more and never have to do it again. You`d just have to be patient about getting everyone over.

The only thing I’m concerned about is that ESO failed mostly because its map was too large and made fighting seem more like a marathon jog than quick combat … meanwhile GW2 thrived.

I’m still a ways off on making a decision about the new maps, but it’s something to keep in mind I guess.

I think the way you linked EU was closer to an ideal. Top populated servers became solo, the rest matched up. I’d suggest this method might work for NA.

I understand that further reducing server cap size will help with the linking and parity, but as many here have pointed out, you already have existing low tier servers that no one will move to.

Certainly the novelty of a “brand new server” will appeal to a few, but until you find a solution for the bandwagoner, you’re only delaying the inevitable stacking that will occur. So this solution, unfortunately, doesn’t offer a long term fix for the health of the game.

Save the cheerleader, save the world(s)? Nope. More like stop the bandwagoners, save the game.

P.S. Keep the linking. It gives you more control over some of the server gaming that’s occurred.

Then spread out. Stop thinking T1 actually means the best tier.

Just cap the maps at 60 per team per map.

Responses to this idea have been generally “well people will just quit” …. Not like that’s not happening now. Rip the bandaid off. Hopefully WvW is engaging enough that people would repopulate other servers to play. Then again, who knows? It would sure solve a lot of complaints though …. It’s only T1 servers complaining about this, everyone else has had overwhelmingly positive feedback for this change. And if 23 other servers benefit compared to three, it seems that would be wiser for the long term of the game.

Bonus: Using the fire spin on those 50 seems to kill a lot of them while protecting your lord Multiply that by three and you get a nice enemy souffle!

Still loving the matchups….. The only thing I hate has nothing to do with the other servers. Its our server, I hate being told by commanders that if Im not in a guild thats organized, large, ect ect….That Im part of the problem. I am in a guild…its just dead and Im usually the only one representing it. So ya, Im basically a lone wolf. But Im still out there helping the team. I listen to whats ordered to do and follow the larger groups without breaking rank early into an attack.

Just sucks that this is our form of Min/Max. Dont have a “known” tag over yer head?….yer worthless. Ive got alot of respect for the larger groups like BT, Hope, Gods, ect. And I put alot of time in our borderlands, I just hate feeling that I have to put some big tag over my head and be in TS3 24/7 or get kittened at about it. I personally wouldn’t worry about comments like that. If you are doing everything you can to be involved as if you were in a larger guild, then the comments are probably not directed at you, regardless of your guild status. Sometimes a wide brush hits unintended targets.

I think some folks forget that WvW requires cooperation and everyone has free will. Go to another map and support a commander/team that appreciates you. The ones being like this will soon find themselves very alone.

Free level 76 exotic gear, that’s only usable in WvW and disintegrates after 30 hours, would be more like it.

… what? Wtf do you use, armor made of gold? A full set including weapons and sigils/runes is like 20 gold (or 10 days of doing nothing but daily). Ascended trinkets is dirt cheap. And thats not even counting the options for WvW bought gear, which is more like 7 gold + badges.

Most players run all ascended gear for WVW, and need more than one set to switch out to be able to run different party comps. I don’t know any nubs running condi builds anyhow.. running rabid gets you gkicked lol

Yeah, just count the banners and there’s your answer.

There are other skills from other classes that revive falled allies or NPC’s (keep lord). Necromancer has Signet of Undeath. Elementalist has Glyph of Renewal, Engineer has Toss Elixir R, Ranger has Nature’s Renewal via Spirit of Nature, ect. The Warrior Battle Standard however, is the most obvious and easily recognizable skill of these, specially in a big zerg fight. Now the Battle Standard is on average used more than the others, but its not the only revive skill out there used.

Except those skills are only for downed, not dead, party members/keep lords.

Perhaps the solution is making that banner work only on downed, like other class skills?

It’s been suggested that drop are based on the lvl of the toon you killed. Have you solo-ed a lowbie and getting a lvl40+ item? Based on that premise, an exotic/rare will probably drop from a very high lvl person. Btw, some folks have been getting rares from Supers.

Actually I’m quite proud of being a girl gamer. In my industry, I’m typically the lone female voice in a sea of men. It’s taught me a lot. It’s also taught me it’s ok to talk about stuff like this because times are a-changin’ …. I like that women feel more comfortable in MMOs, that they actually do pvp and love WvW as much as I do.

I like that we tend to broach topics like these with humour, and that we’re open to new ways of doing things that our male counterparts may not have thought of yet … and I’m equally glad we have mature male members of the gaming community who appreciate our ideas and that we can be just as tough as they are.

Even if they remove it they are not able to fix the lag with it, i mean blob vs blob still brings massive lag.
So they need to fix the lag and that is a very difficult issue.

There is lag involved with blobs, but I can only go by what I experience on my end and know that every time that event pops up my computer crashes if I get near a big group while it’s running. And I never had that issue encountering big fights/blobs before.

Others have complained of similar experience.

To the OP. Devs said when they shut off full servers that some servers were overflowing beyond the full cap than others. SFR still full indicates exactly how much of a population imbalance there was prior, especially if some players left and you’re still full. The whole point of the server cap was to even things out so servers like SFR no longer had the massive population advantage and were forced to play with reasonably equal numbers.

Time to adapt.

What happens to people who are unguilded, but an integral part of the existing community? I know tons of people who are in small or solo guilds and losing them in the shuffle would not be good.

It’s a shame. BB used to be such a powerhouse, a server other servers looked forward to fighting.

Even glass-is-half-full me is growing a little weary of ODS and its 5v1 ganking by permastealth thieves and a mesmer. I’d be fine if they took on equal numbers and tried to gank, but it’s always them targeting the solo roamer, at most two. More than two and they run off. Blech.

“All the true wvw players”…well I guess I’m not trve enough to understand this change. For me it seems to be as half thought out as the golem rush event but I guess time will show us how and if it will change anything.

“Time” is a problem though during the time that people cannot play with friends or are logging into ghost town servers, we will be losing more players that " would have been" that will leave the game. The issue is this causes more problems than it solves unless the end goal was to have less players playing wvwv all together in the end.

Instead of telling your friends to come play with you , you will have to find a game you can actually play together now instead. For me to play with my Lil sis, we will have to play a different game instead.

Go to an open server to play with your sis.
Fixed your problem and maybe a bit more balance in the population of servers.

And what about my guild, my brother, my husband? I am supposed to abandon my guild and the rest of my family to play with my sis? We could probably make a server full just by us alone.. Then maybe you should consider what the poster above said — if your family can fill an entire server itself, maybe move them all down a few tiers. Being #1 no longer matters in regards to server pride, etc … it’s just a number because of stacking — you could feesibly go down to a medium pop server and make a massive difference — and then have REAL server/family pride.

You don’t technically need 99% of any gear in this game, acquiring gear in gw2 is end game content. If you don’t get gear whats the point? There is no vertical gear progression like in other mmo’s this is the end game, collectors and completionists are drawn to gw2 as an mmo for this reason.

If you don’t find it fun, here’s a novel idea: Don’t do it!

But don’t complain if your objectives flip either.

It really is your choice.

Here, I’ll give you a real-world analogy: If you don’t lock your car when you leave it, you are at risk of having it stolen. Is locking your car any fun? Well, not really. But do you value your car, is it important for you and your overall “fun”… well yes.

What you’re doing is complaining about having to lock your car. Thieves should just be nice and not touch if because it’s too much of a hassle to lock it.

The correct analogy would be having to sit in your car despite having locked it, then putting on a blindfold and ear muffs, and if a thief breaks in he brings 20 friends who persuade you to hand over the keys. The tower or keep has gates, they are locked.

What’s being complained about is despite locking the car and spending time looking around the area, the thief was in the car all along and you couldn’t find them, or if you did you didn’t bring enough people to remove him, and he stole your car.

Having to use 10-15 people to sweep isn’t fun, and in less populated servers that’s three times the amount of people you have anyway.

After a while, rather than spend 20 minutes not finding the stealthed mesmer out of your hour of gaming time, people would rather do something they find even vaguelt rewarding, like, for instance, fighting other players.

Not everyone plays wvw 24/7 and thinks nothing of hunting mesmers for 2-3 hours at a time.

Any time I struggle with countering a class in WvW, I create that class, learn its weaknesses and strengths, then drive a stake into their little hearts. Stealth classes are counterable.

Please no EZ mode. If I can do it, so can you!

We even do it while outmanned. You’re SFR right? You have the most players 24/7 of all servers, lol. Sounds like too many are lazy. or, I hate to say it, it’s a L2P issue.

To the OP. I got there two years ago, then decided to move to EU.

Completely different atmosphere. Was a good move for me.
