How about having a new soloq guy loading in the map when someone DCed/Rage quit?

And… why not freezing one guy, until that new one come into play?

How about everyone have their own MMR rating clearly shown and see how it is affected when they lost at 100 and when they lost at 400, so they understand that working their MMR means to lose by the smallest margin possible?

Season 4 Ranked Matchmaking Change

I’ve just started soloQ ranked games, and so far the match making seems a bit strange. The games are close, but the disparity between the levels of the player is enormous. This is important, because the individual level of players can completely influence the outcome of the game, way more than any other parameter.

The way this level is currently assessed is possibly flawed. I would suggest, at the very least, to include the total number of games played in PvP, to separate beginner players (say between 0-100 games), intermediate players (100-200) and the rest (standard matchmaking).

Win ratio means more than game played.

5k games with 40% win, shows something.
2k games with 60% win, shows something different.

But it’s not enough. If you have 60% but made it on noobs, it’s not like having 40% but played only versus top 100 players.

So, number of games + win ratio + weight of wins/lost versus ranking.

This was in the formula into 2014 leaderboard system to “rank” people up.

The 2013 editions didn’t consider number of games.

My Opinion After Today's Pro League

Nothing beat CONDI burst from REV.

Find all the patches you want, all the skillful players maining a classes for 3 years (thieves, warriors, guardians) got their main “off meta” and become obsolete by this.

In 2014, they did that to bunker guard with 2 dd ele comp. It was the right choice because the damage pressure of bunker guard in 2v2 is pathetic. Anet never buff up bunker guard damage.

Now in 2015, thief and warrior are in the same boat. I am happy to see that others got that nerf bat hard. The 2015 era is more vocal than the 2014. Why? Bunker like to support people up. DPS like to burst people up. What happen when you kill a DPS main classes? Outrage.

REVENANT need to get cooldown or their Energy management need to be tune to be inline with other classes DPS classes. (so we can go back to bruisers trying to be bunker, and have less snooze fest…)

It’s funny… people blame the bunker, but we play bunker to survive versus REVENANT OPness (or even reaper constant condi pressure, or both).

Guild wars 2 is a Buy to Win game.

F2P Core spvper are trash mobs farmed by “money” spender.

I really disagree with that kind of method to make money, but it’s in the game right now.

It hurt more the spvp population than giving money to Anet anyway.

Most games have F2P at 90% population. Not in gw2, after 1 week they quit for good.

I don’t think, MMR calculation has changed. If you get matched against higher MMR, you are expected to lose and your MMR won’t be affected (it is still independent from division/pips).

It’s way more complicated than that.

Last season, the pips wins even if you lost a game… was some reflection about how you can gain MMR even if you lose versus some teams.

For Season 2, Anet did stop using MMR to find match versus other team, this is supposed to give better queue time…. but, at the end, it will destroy the sPVP casual population.

Odd since Anet cater to casuals since launch.

There seems to be a ton of threads now about if GW2 is P2W, and it’s clearly not.

This game is however Pay to Compete, and there’s a very hefty price just to level the playing field.

The issues discussed above just highlight how such a model is turning away prospective sPvP players every day.

Having a smaller download, a PR campaign into the MOBA preview game site (so many these dayz), 1 or 2 publicity about HoTM MOBA games over Google/Youtube…

With a real f2p MOBA model (only for spvp or your MOBA game) that is compatible with your MMO b2p model, so some MOBA player can B2P the MMORPG version of it, would probably x10 our pvp population.

This would bring better match making system. And the competitive field would be better because we market to competitive pvp players (from the MOBA scene).

I don’t know why other sPVPer don’t subscribe more to your thread…

Guess they hate their own game too much to ask for EXPANSIONS of the PLAYER BASE.

Could you imagine an arena fighter with dedicated static characters in the Guild Wars 2 engine? I would cry if something like that got announced — and we’ve seen the PvP team make attempts to move away from Conquest (RIP Stronghold 2016-2016).

Champions of the Mists (Let’s call it) wouldn’t need any new assets, could use existing skills, would be immensely easier to balance than Conquest and — with a few minor tweaks to camera and skill effect — could be extremely easy to spectate.

You don’t have to understand frame data to get hype when you’re watching Street Fighter V.

• A camera that dynamically centers on the two players, like in fighting games
• A timer for matches and lifebars that drain towards the center
• Static characters (i.e. builds are set, maybe choose your elite but no more)
• Arena maps from in-game assets (maybe add some line of sight)

TOTALLY.

A PVP offering is different than a MMORPG offering. It CATTER to a player based.

The new MARKETING guy should read this and read all the articles and the numbers in the OP link. Because, he could TRIPLE Gw2 profits in a “short-time” with not a lot of CODE to do.

At least they’ll have a somewhat of a monopoly in this on the market atm. A game where all the players that do not have the ability to play any Action MMO can, that requires more personal skill and reflexes then GW2 can main. On the causal scale GW2 is the highest MMO on the market.

GW2 don’t completely sux btw. It’s sPvP however is just complete trash compared to many many other games. It’s PvE is ok in Fractals and Raids, maybe some of the events. It’s WvW, well it looks like WvW will follow the same suit as sPvP game mode.

Well… How many spvp games you have played? How many spvp team have you been into?

How many tournament (amateur AG included) have you been?

Actually, combat mechanic of Gw2 is the best of the genre, all around. You can’t find a game with that kind of play without “grind” involved on the market, yet.

It’s a simple easy to soloq game, that is hard to master to go at high level. We are all kittening here, because we love this game and are passionate about it.

What about you? Do you have better alternative than gw2 spvp? I didn’t find any and I played most of the competition… so, I should be a trash casual in your eyes?

DDOS attacked is common when you face top players team.

Not all players do it, but many with old leaderboard top 300 were doing this.

It is easy to take IP from TS servers and everybody and there mother used pvp ts in the pass or in the present.

I will not say that Named competing with you will bring you Lag. But, I have a short list of players who do this to me each time.

I don’t lag with my fiber network. I don’t lag into Gw2. But when I faced those “blocked” guyz, I will lag to nothingness.

Basically, they know they will get a hard game and want to win, they control their botnet access and send the ddos to the IP they copy and pasted from TS.

The BIGGEST JOKE EVER, is this 4 years later that this reality is showing to the crowds where it’s common knowledge happening into rank queue at top tier playing.

To protect your IP, don’t TS, don’t used forums that show your IP. Or private forum operated by spvp esports players.

The quick fix to the removal of Cleric amulet would be this:

Templar Amulet:

+1050 power
+1050 healing power
+ 560 Toughness
+ 560 Concentration

This would bring all support build viable again.

It’s the closest of Cleric stats, so safer for balance all around. Tempest Templar would still be bruiser like with low health point and somewhat easier to kill (less healing and less toughness).

Cleric was:

+1200 Healing Power
+900 Toughness
+900 Power

With all the nerf on Ele. It would be better than nothing. (and probably would removed Tempest support from META high level of play anyway, they where the easier to chain cc burst of all meta classes)

Season 6 to remain solo/duo only

Guyz, a game wide POLL for a PVP game mode is completely bad for the PVP community.

Anyone with some intelligence can understand that most PVE players don’t play sPvP and so, their vote should be null and void.

Only players with hundreds of spvp games should be able to VOTE for the sPvP game mode.

Anet think that deleting is a FIX to a problem, it shows over the year that deleting more than 50% of the spvp games demonstrate a suicidal tendencies.

No other PVP game offer less Features over time. All game give more or add up new features into their offering.

For Gw2, deleting is better than offering more.

But please, pay more cause they need money to delete it even more.

Please DELETE Anet to fix the removing of features from our game…

You are heavily punished. You’re suck on the ground with limited abilities, no way to evade, block, or otherwise defend yourself.

Scrapper and SNR rezzing are outliers, moreover the change doesn’t fix either of those, the change just makes it enormously difficult for other classes to rez.

Yeah until there’s a gyro on u and an engi, ressing u with anti projectile field, stability, probably stealth, and all while ur invulnerable. It doesn’t matter if they are outliers, they were SPECIFICALLY chosen to abuse this mechanic. There should never be “free res” ever plain and simple. Your team should be supporting you BEFORE you go down, not after. U think its ok to be able to res through 3+ peoples cleave? with 1 person? I personally dont.

I played Gyro Cleric Scrapper full spec to REZ through Cleave.

It was possible versus 3 cleaving 2 seasons ago. Now, it’s not possible anymore with Mender amulet. (they nerf instant cast on heal, stealth, no more daze on gyro destroy, no more invuln on body, no more toughness from cleric.

Since, gyro can’t DAZE while destructed… if I rez 1 versus a cleave of 3, your 3 can’t focus fire or are annoyed by some peelz from my awesome team mate.

Actually, scrapper got nerf engouh that versus 1 good player, I can’t rez 1 anymore with all my gyros tricks…

This means, that I put scrapper off my awesome REZZER support build and I switch to DH mender for when I want to REZ like a God. (plz consider that both where not meta build, fine tune to rez like GOD because this is my favorite play style, where I played Bunker Guard with runes of Mercy.)

Unfortunetaly for me, it’s way harder to be the best rezzer in the game than before, but it’s still possible to get better and be able to do, what others can’t.

But at equal skill level, rezzing in a 1v2 situations is most probably a failed attempted that can get fix with a second rezzer or CCer. Without that, I will peel half though my tricks to rez.

Being possible to Rez someone with 3 cleaving players , and resign someone before the invuln frames were completed was total bs and should not have been a thing to begin with. This was one of the best decisions Anet could have implemented in Pvp, and there is counteplay to Guardian rezzes in the form of stability and Aoe cleave since the Guardian can’t put Rez cleavers as effectively as Engie pre patch.

That game gave you different choices and build to make something working.

To be the best rezzer of the game meant you can’t kill anyone even in 2v1 if your other mate was a bad dps or something.

That time is gone. We don’t have choices anymore because people think they are the only “right” around while other are not. It’s so OP to not being able to kill anyone with a bunker build, right? (that crowd…)

Sorry, but the game I did love was a game of FREE choice that was balanced in a comp versus comp game.

Each year, that FREE choice is reducing a lot, the balanced between options are messed up and the game offer way less different playstyle than before.

The game is dying from the QQ their own users do, while it should be grow by their user saying out loud how it is great to play…

But not… losers are always more vocal than players.

1- You should rename your title to say Hot Join PVP is An Horrible System.

2- The best way to play unranked, is with 2 friends that don’t share a class with you. That way, you will have less 3 thieves team.

3- When you get another thief in the group, if he don’t switch… please switch yourself.

4- Unranked MMR is not the same as Rank MMR. So, if you didn’t play many unranked matches… you seriously need two friends with above average MMR to carry you to it. That way, you will get less bad match-up. If not, doing “solo” unranked to raised MMR will get harder for you since your Guardian DPS build can’t carry you now. (half true since guard dps variant is in the great build section of metabattle)

Bunker Guard is Dead

Bunker guard is dead since the Toughness nerf in 2013.

It agonize until the celestial buff in april 2014.

After that, we were useless, unless we were carried by thief/mesmer combo until AOE pressure destroyed the burst/mobility duo God.

Either, un-nerf toughness at his proper level to be a real counter to power… or nerf celestial to make it less power more defensive oriented…

Another quick fix for bunker guard but not for all bunker type, would be to give shouts 1 condi cleanse baseline, so we can use other Rune than Soldier since 2012.

The last stud on the coffin was removing the attributes from trait line, bunker guard were standing around 16k before June 23 patch.

Really… we should have a PVE/WvW stats distribution system. I don’t care if it’s hard to balance… every player should be able to micro manage their attribute like the base game. I wanna put whatever the stats combo on all my gear, weapons and jewels.

Why dumbing down PVP when the other game mode are already “baseline” dumb down? (put a kitten proper save and load build to make it easier for us, not removing options)

So basically you are saying that 2 Celestial/Soldier Amulets cannot kill a Minstrels Amulet bunker causing the balance issue in this game? I don’t think so.

In fact classes with hybrid damage and also having huge sustain shouldn’t be able to kill things fast, so adding Minstrel was a good move for balancing the game. Players will have to go heavy Berserker or Conditions to kill them fast, which in result to cause them more squishy, and that is call balance.

With a real attribute system like PVE and WvW this would never happen again. Players would be able to balance the meta themselves.

And Championship tourney would be way more interesting, because way less stagnant than the hybrid kill all comp.

Off-seasons are great to find new pvp friends.

It’s a good time to try none-meta thing, try the new changes from balanced patches and find new ways to get better.

Great to work your ranked and unranked MMR.

Not sure the off-season ranked MMR follow the league ranked Q.

But at least, the Match-Making is way better in off-season (when you have work your MMR on those Q).
