The dying DE system and the new ascended mats

in Living World

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

Well, the ascended materials are a way to make people go back to doing them, got any other ideas to make trains any less popular in comparison to normal questing?

Most of the champs in Queensdale Train are also events. No, i don’t think that making DE’s more valuable will make it any less popular.

That’s why I proposed diminishing returns, to make the champ event farming inefficient in comparison to roaming the world.

>Make it harder to make money
Hey gaiz! Let’s make the grind HARDER!
I see no drawbacks whatsoever!

Nerfing rewards to force people into other content is a REALLY BAD strategy and lead to people just getting burnt out and quitting.

When you say veterans, you mean dinosaurs scared of change. Being in the process of leveling my 11th character, with having finished 10 personal stories and living stories I would say I might fall into your categorization of “veteran” yet I do not agree with a single thing you said.

Please do not try to speak for others. Adapt or move on. How simple life is, innit?

Please explain how one adapts to “oh lol, now you have to grind to content!”?
I’m really interested who else thinks it’s fun to have to ride a railroad for several hours before you’re allowed to play how you want.

I just want to play how I want, simple, innit?

kitten.

Please explain of what “grind” you have to do now that you didnt need to do before? If anything lvl 20 reward is 8 skill points so you dont have to grind 7 skill points (like you had to do before)

Enlighten us all about this “added grind”

Forcing us into specific content before we can play how we want. How is that not an added grind? Oh, it’s you talking. You get to define things. Ok, that’s cool.

New Playable Race and Lore

in Lore

Lostwingman.5034

The personal stories should have just been that, personal.
IMO the whole campaign on Zhaitan should have been just that, a campaign.
The entire thing is instanced anyway, you can have your living world, your moving calendar, all that stuff and just leave these major stories (like forming the pact to defeat Zhaitan) as campaign type chains. Then you have the personal story be a self contained story to your own experiences. They did fine for the first 20 or so levels of personal story but from there things start getting less and less personal culminating with Traehearne.

About centaur organs

in Lore

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

I have been wondering, where centaurs have their hearts and other inner organs. In their humanoid torso or in the horse body, or in both? Does anyone know the answer to this?

Little known secrets.

Many years ago there were horses on Tyria, however they were corrupted by alien parasites brought by the “humans” (historians believe unintentionally as uninvited passengers) and lost their heads from the shoulder up which atrophied as the alien parasite denied nutrients. Instead being controlled by the parasites linked into their spine. However this stage of parasite control cannot last for an extended period so these headless horses searched for replacement nutrient sources. What transpired is that as the head and neck atrophied and fell off, a gaping maw was left through which the matured parasite’s appendages drew forth.
Upon coming across their natural host, the human, the parasite ushers the only functionally living horse to run down the prey and draw them in by the legs through the maw by their appendages. Little is known about the interior anatomy of this stage as “Centaur” stage corpses disintegrate after expiration of the parasite. It is theorized by top Human researchers however that the human brain is somehow compatible with the parasites (being from the same alien world) and is thus somehow compatible to the nutrient demand of the parasite.
Over the centuries cases of new Human-Horse parasitic hybrids formed by capturing human prey has drastically decreased. Researchers and Hunters in secret who have tried to stop these creatures now believe that the parasite has further evolved. Fully absorbing the human’s ability to use magic and utilizing it in such a way to reproduce and create more perfect hybrids. It is truly unclear where these developments are leading but one thing is clear, the “Centaur” menace must be quarantined and contained. For the protection of all sentient races.

Lion's Arch Poll Discussion

Lostwingman.5034

I think Lion’s Arch Aerodrome is better. Simple and clean.

Theo Ashford is the pirate captain from the council who was assassinated in the aetherblade attack during dragon bash, Scarlet wanted to put someone infiltrated in his place but we killed the impostor and got Ellen Kiel instead.

I went with Martial Aerodrome on the hope that there would be future Aerodromes added and it would make sense for the main civilian Aerodrome to be the “Lion’s Arch Aerodrome”.

It was very frustrating. So I left the server dropped 20 bucks on a transfer I like to play and enjoy my play it was a big eye opener after seeing those players. Sucks for all the nice good players in SoS that a few can run it for the whole.

My friend wants to leave too after seeing all those potatoes leeching.
But yea that “a few can ruin it for the whole” thing is the major flaw of this event.

Somehow I don’t believe that, your entire OP reeks of condescension and borders on being a troll post.

Maybe it is you who is trolling. I read the OP post and no where does he talk DOWN to anyone.

It’s blatantly trivializing any complaint about the event.
Which is completely ball and chained to whether or not afkers, griefers, or “I play how I wants” end up on the turrets.
Yes, we know that right after something on any game in the history of gaming is implemented idiots will knee jerk react. Now look at what people are complaining about after those people got their rage off or stopped trolling.
Guesting, afkers, and mindless zergers take the event largely out of peoples hands and yet we still have people going “HURRRR U NO LIEK CHALLENG!!!”. No, we like the challenge not being “did I or did I not end up surrounded by morons in this overflow”.

Charr vs Human vs Asura vs Norn

in Lore

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

We can’t say that just because Norns are relatively anti-authoritarian and are focused on individual glory, they would fail at warfare.
You know who else was like them? Vikings. Can you honestly say that Vikings weren’t good at warfare with the ammount of land they conquered?

The thing is, Norns, just like Vikings would use this as their advantage. Not being a classic “army”, and not having set tactics would make them unpredictable in the battlefield. No one would be able to study their behavior in combat, because each battle would be different.

With that being said, Charrs would have the upper hand in the war, no matter what. Not only are they born soldiers, they also have the technology, physical prowess, numbers and discipline.

lol….

That’s so wrong…The Vikings had Kings and leaders and were organized into kingdoms and states. You’re projecting the invented qualities of the Norn as a race onto the vikings just because the Norn are modeled superficially on them.

The Pact justification

in Lore

Posted by: Lostwingman.5034

Lostwingman.5034

Priority is indeed a big topic. The Pact’s priority is the Elder Dragons. My personal priority is to protect the people. These two goals are definitely related, but they are vastly different.

If the Pact insist on limiting itself to only dealing with the Elder Dragons, then I do have to depart from this organization (if Anet gives me this option). I cannot stand by while watching civilians dying from other threats, knowing full well that we could have done better.

Your character is not limited by the Pact to not act, you still have your order.
It’s not even about priority in general, there are ALWAYS bad things happening to innocent people all over Tyria. It is literally impossible to deal with them all at the same time. This is some bizarre savior complex you have going on here.

My personal opinion is that the majority of gw2 players look at things in a vertical line, meaning that the higher the better, in this case damage. I don’t think the conjured weapons were ever suppose to increase eles dps by extraordinary amounts but rather increase their versatility.

Think about it, the design philosophy of the class is being versatile. There is no coincidence that the conjured weapon give ele access to weapons they innately don’t have. So the weapons themselves are suppose to provide a a horizontal scaling (options, choices, versatility) instead of a vertical scaling (more damage).

The last things the conjures do is increase versatility…if anything, taking up a spot on the utility bad and their general design inhibits versatility…

I’m saying something more like “Not all Germans were kitten’s” in WW2.

Heh…I knew it. I didn’t want to say it due to not wanting to invoke Godwin’s law but this is what the current Charr remind me of the most, the “Clean Wehrmacht” myth. A myth entirely generated post war in order to integrate the West Germans more closely into NATO, to discredit the USSR that bore the brunt of kitten aggression, and for many of the Wehrmacht generals to distance themselves from the kitten regime. It’s historical revisionism in the name of creating a “more palatable ally” and the Charr of GW2 fit this narrative so hard that I cringe looking at the Legions. The Wehrmacht Generals and many of the soldiers knew what was going on and either allowed it for their own ends or joined in themselves.

While “not all Germans were kittens” is true, it as an entirely different discussion in regards to the military due to the actions they carried out. I see the other legions much like a see many of the Post-War former kitten generals and leadership who were able to come to power in West Germany after the war by simply jumping narratives and distancing themselves from the kitten Party. Not unlike how the Charr legions try to convince themselves they weren’t right there with the Flame Legion marching for conquest and benefiting from, if not outright committing, those atrocities.
