Actually it isn’t fair for those who haven’t played GW1. They are both totally different games, and shouldn’t be interrelated at all. Guild Wars 1 is still there, go play it if you want a “sense of achievement”. This isn’t an expansion pack!

I mean I would understand adding cosmetic gifts at the start for those who played GW1 as an incentive to start GW2, but you haven’t actually achieved anything in GW2 yet, and acquiring those points for playing another game doesn’t make sense.

== Ranger == As it stands now the ranger is basically stuck as a homepoint defender. This is due to the strong defensive traitlines and utter lack of swiftness and AOE.

In order for a ranger to become more popular at midfight retaliation would need to be changed (internal cooldown or % of damage done) so that trap rangers have a chance to shine. Spirit ranger builds would also have to become a lot more fun to run and be less orientated on passive skills. Making a secondary ability of a spirit give a stunbreak + include more direct play options on spirits could make this a reality.

In order for rangers to become roamers the power weapon sets (longbow and Greatsword) would have to be tweaked so that warhorn becomes viable. Increasing the DPS of the auto attack on greatsword and making the second skill based around the physical damage and not bleeds would be a great start. Longbow just needs rapid fire to do more damage either through increasing the damage and assuming half will be dodged or increasing the speed so a player won’t always be able to avoid half of it. Then barrage needs a damage increase and frankly it can loose the cripple.

== Elementalist == Elementalist is in a good spot for roaming and teamfights. The only place you can’t really run an elementalist is as a dedicated homepoint player. One idea would be to change signets so that signet of fire activates faster and signet of earth does decent bleed damage. This could open up the possibility of a shamans amulet homepoint elementalist.

As far as teamfight goes increasing the radious of boons given through attunment swapping by a tiny bit would be the only real thing that I would even consider.

== Warrior == The warrior has the damage and mobility to be a good roamer but it frankly doesn’t have the condition removal and healing to sustain itself to an acceptable degree. I like the clensing ire trait but taking away strong adept traits has moved the warrior ever sideways.

I would change warrior by adding a new trait that would make banners remove a condition on everyone in radius every 5-10 seconds. I would buff shake it off to remove 2 conditions, and I would change For Great Justice to have a longer cooldown but increase the amount of might it gives and add retaliation to the skill.

The Warrior trait spiked armor I would rework to give retaliation to all teammates in the area but I would increase it’s internal cooldown to 20 seconds.

With access to retaliation and good AOE condi removal the warrior would possibly have the defensive support to warrant inclusion in a teamfight.

All base heals on the warrior should scale slightly stronger with healing power as well.

What’s up everybody it’s me Godofallu and I am going to be going over the state of the game based around each profession. I will give my opinion on where each profession sits in the meta at the moment and what kind of builds/roles each profession can fulfill.

Why should you listen to me? Well noone is going to force you to. Right now i’m an admin of the esports guild and frequently coach newer players in the guild and run pickup games. I play on actively procrastinating which is top 5 on NA mistleague at the moment (not as cool as it sounds) and I enjoy dueling and beating top players/known pros at their own professions. Not that I always win or anything but I have plenty of wins.

== Mesmer == Right now I feel like mesmer only has 1 true viable build in TPvP which is the meta 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build. While the build is top tier and certainly viable the main issues it has are that it doesn’t have any condition removal, and it’s basically locked into taking MOA, Portal, and Illusion of Life. Which brings me into the main problem mesmers have in TPvP; lack of variety.

Mesmers need to have their other utility skills increased to the point where they might actually be able to compete with portal and illusion of life. I don’t think portal or illusion can/should be nerfed any harder even though they are game changing skills simply because those 2 skills are almost the only real thing drawing people to mesmer at the moment. In addition a second or even third mesmer build which is TPvP viable needs to be created. To do this the scepter and staff’s auto attack would need to be reworked in order to make condition damage builds a real and viable thing.

== Guardian == Guardians in tPvP are basically entirely locked into a bunker role, usually based around team support at midpoint. The reason they can only do this role is because their DPS roles are not mobile enough to become roamers, and their damage although strong is very telegraphed. In order to push guardian DPS builds into the meta the sword 3 skill would have to be changed, and the GS pull -> spin technique would have to be changed + they would have to be given some sort of swiftness.

As to their ability to bunker they provide stability which almost no other bunkers can do. This is powerful because it allows the tankiest member on the team to do the stomping + it prevents the bunker from getting cc chained or pushed off point. Until other bunkers get stability they won’t be viable.

The other thing guardian bunkers bring that other professions can’t match is retaliation. Retaliation can singlehandedly wreck certain DPS builds and can actually lead to a very large damage output which makes a guardian bunker capable of applying DPS pressure while running a pure defense build. In my opinion retaliation needs an internal cooldown OR to scale based around damage done on an attack. As it stands now trap rangers and grenade users are being pushed out of midfights due to the overwhelming effects retaliation has on those skills in comparison to the negligible effects it has on marks or shatter combos.

== Necromancer == Right now necromancers provide great AOE damage through marks, wells, epidemic, and to a lesser extent DS 4+5. This puts them in an excellent position for teamfights at midpoint. While it’s true that necromancers are relatively squishy (especially when running 30/30/10) we must remember that a necromancer is only weak to physical builds and not both physical and condition damage builds. This gives them a natural advantage that other glass DPS professions don’t have. In addition a physical DPS build will almost always run Berserkers amulet which provides almost no defense while condition damage builds are able to take Rabid or Shamans amulet which both provide a fairly balanced amount of damage/survivability.

As it stands now necromancers won’t be able to take on a roaming DPS build due to the lack of swiftness + the lack of strong single target utility skills. If warhorn got a cooldown reduction or Signet of the locust got a new active effect I could see roamers actually becoming viable. Especially a signet based roamer in the middle of a condition based meta.

  • Phantasms – completly butchered

Ofc, substantial increase in Phantasm lifetime but a 20% reduction in Phantasm-summoning-output result in “completely butchered”. No contest.

  • Interrupting – this will never be viable, the interrupts dont reset the CD and its near to impossible to interrupt a race like asura because of the low visibility.

It seems very viable from the brief evaluation, but I’ll agree this needs more investigation.

  • Stealth – one elite skill and one 3 secs skill. Yea, I can see you make a build aroud this.

Blurred frenzy wasn’t just a shatter nerf. It now basically discourages me to use sword in the other (weird) builds I have made.

Yes phantasm builds were not butchered, they have been significantly toned down. This also destroys my Phantasm build in WvW. Also, he wasn’t just referring to the Illusion Celerity nerf. Your just jumping conclusions.

I have played and experimented interrupt builds before and after these “buffs” came along. I was actually very excited that they buffed interrupts. Yes they are better but it is still an unreliable build. The only time I’ve reliably interrupt (strategically) is through the use of the (now nerfed) temporal curtain. Don’t argue with me that diversion is actually reliable. Because it’s not. Clones have to run up just to daze a person (or 5 if traited ). There are others like Illusionary Wave and the even more unreliable OH sword daze. Even Chaos Storm isn’t as great of an interrupt as you think. First it needs to daze and then they have to be using a skill while dazed.

I can’t believe you think a stealth build is actually viable. Unless you are running Prismatic Understanding with signet of Inspiration for boon shares, you are just as useless as that rabbit next you. Also, signet of Inspiration has a long cool down.

Honestly, I’m not insulting you, but from reading your other posts in threads, you speak like your just theory crafting.

Summary
These changes accomplished nothing positive for the mesmer class. The fact that they were made in the name of build diversity is insulting to every intelligent mesmer player. These changes, far from providing build diversity and flexibility, have significantly lowered the diversity of the mesmer class and restricted the flexibility our builds have. This is far and away the most devastating and most ill-conceived patch since this game was first released.

This 1-round tournament is so kittening boring! All day long the same map over and over again…its so boring!!!
I want real tournaments with a lot of teams. More than 1 round. We need tournaments with good rewards! These kittening chests i dont even open anymore because i dont have enough space in my bag for all this kitten!
We need small 3-round tournaments like we had some months ago and we need new tournament modes like weekly or monthly tournaments with big rewards. the current mode is so annoying. And please dont tell me that there are big tournaments createt by Jianji and GW2 Pro…Yes this tournaments are cool, but we need tournaments ingame, createt by Anet!
I really hope that Anet will act soon! The pvp community gets smaller every day. If u play TPvP often u know every single player. New players are rare! So please give us new motivating stuff, so that the old players stay and a lot new players will join this game!

As far as I know, phantoms don’t benefit from sigils. They do benefit from some base stats though. I know power, precision, vitality and condition damage for certain. I don’t think they inherit toughness but I’m not sure.

Okay, this may be a “nerf mes” thread, but it’s only out of fairness to the rest. I feel like because Mesmer is already incredibly powerful in 1v1 situations they don’t need handicaps like the “target required” for phantasms. This would fix a handicap, while fixing their downed state. Here’s my reasoning:

All other spells happen regardless if you have a target or not. This includes things like Corrupt Boon, so say as a Necromancer, I’m using it and they happen to stealth JUST before I push it, but too quick for reaction. I’m now down a Utility, they have all their boons AND I poisoned myself. Great.

Mesmers on the otherhand use their ability after the stealth, not only does it not do nothing happen. The cooldown (And even casting animation time) is spared, so they can just do it when they leave stealth.

What should happen is if they use it without a valid target, it would still cast, but nothing happen, just like any other target specific spell in the game. It’s not a direct nerf, neither. It fixes a handicap and fixes downed state, so what we’d be looking at is:

Nerf:
The cool down handicap on Mesmers.
Mesmers would have to think about their spells when casting them in fights, and not just assume it will work regardless, or else be cushioned by a cast-lock.

Buff:
Downed state 2 could be used at any time regardless of having a target or not, it would just not spawn a clone (would work like Decoy does without a target).

after reading this yesterday, i tried during the aquatic dailies if the rune is working. It seems thakittens not working (checked like 120 hits without triggering).

The Marriner’s Horn that some of you have being waiting for is put in the gemstore today! Costs 800 gems, has 3 octaves and 8 notes per octave.

They also put in Dragon’s Fortune fireworks (200 gems each or 5/800 gems). Has Blue, Green, Red, Yellow fireworks with 9 charges each and also a one charge Dragon’s Finale which give everyone near you a 50% magic find buff for 1 hr.

It took me a while, but here is a better explanation with an image.

The illusionary berserker uses an animation similar to warrior greatsword #3 where they spin and move while creating attacks. The attacks are circles (shown as pentagons in my image) that are created at frames in the animation. In this image I highlight the position of all 4 attacks. What this means is that based on the relative position of a iZerker to their target, and based on the targets motion it can hit between 0 and 4 times. The damage number listed in the skill fact is based on all 4 hits connecting as shown by the 4x next to the damage #. With a static target this is possible but extraordinarily unlikely. The movement is meant to help this attack hit moving targets, which is its primary purpose as a skill which reduces movement speed.

In this particular series of screenshots, 3 of the strikes (#2, #3, and #4 ) overlapped the target golem, but as is known in the bug only 1 damage floater was displayed. I am able to examine the golem health before and after and it takes 3 strikes worth of damage but again the visual damage floater is not appearing. We do not know why this floater is sometimes not appearing but because it is a visual bug only we have prioritized other fixes over it while we try to figure out the root cause of this issue. In the meantime, I hope this image shows more clearly how this attack works and what the real bug here is.
