People, this is post for all you experienced players out there, I have seen a trend lately o bash new players in both dungeon and champion farming at queensdale. As many of you know, 40% game price discount happened and thus we have a great influx of new players. Because of this, new players and trying out dungeons and open world, and I have noticed very toxic behavior from some of us veteran fellows.

If a new player joins the dungeon party; kindly explain some of the most important parts, why it is necessary that they gear better with sets such as berserker in dungeons, explain why rather than force it, explain important fights or mechanics of the dungeon, give a good impression.

If a new player is lost and attempts to kill a chapion out of rotation, please explain him the reason why people are doing it, guide them, show them around, in a nice way, do not force it.

Im sure that as a community we can give a better impression! These are player that are increasing our populations, lets give them reasons to stay, not to run away!

This is simply a PSA, remember, we want to have more people to run maps and dungeons together, amkes the game more fun! :0 If you got any other suggestion please leave it here and keep it bumped so that we can create awareness!

EDIT since so many of you CANT read, this isnt about me, Im a dungeon master and run most dungeons daily….. this is for YOU.

It has come to my attention that lately most dungeon parties I come across to seem to be adopting this trend, even if not specifically stating it on the tittle, they go tend to kick anyone who isnt lvl 80 and/or experienced with the dungeon. Now, you might say that Im typing this because it has happened to me. This is not the case, I ave had dungeon master and have run dungeons on a daily basis for many, many months, but this issue seems to be affecting the community more than you think, specially with the new horde of new players coming in.

Here is my PSA; do NOT reject those who are attempting dungeons for the first time. Its ok if it is a guy that just started yesterday and barely have any knowledge of the game, but if it is a person who has been playing for a bit, and have a clue, explain to him/her the main mechanics and spots you camp, take the time to do this now, and you will have more people to do dungeons with in the future. By driving away new players you are reducing an already decimated community due to previous episodes of this behavior. Explain to them kindly why berserker is the best gear, why it is necessary and how they can play their game when they are alone, dont kick them because they have bad gear. Explain some of the most unforgiving boss mechanics, explains the spots you go to, explain anything that might think it is very important for a successful run. Chances are, they will enjoy it, learn from it and do it again and right next time. By shoveling away these players you gain nothing and lose a lot, in a very directly way!

I hope you all have a great time, and lets increase the dungeon community, not decrease it!

I’m done. After a month of posting in various forums about how Fractured had impacted a great community of challenge seeking players, I’ve lost all hope in achieving anything in these forums at all. The furthest we’ve gotten is “collecting feedback” and “we’re thinking about it” which the followed with locking the thread.
I went to fractals the other day for the sake of filling a spot in my friend’s party. It’s been a while, since I’ve had any desire to go back in after completing the meta. First two levels went smoothly, but then dredge happened. We passed it without wiping, but it hit me why I (at this point) do not enjoy fractals anymore. Aside from dredge level being there, the sense of advancing in levels is completely gone.
The drive behind the original fractals where each character had their own progression level and how each and every one of them advanced accordingly of their play-style is now lost. If I was to play for rewards, they’re pitiful when it comes to the time spent. So the content is practically dead to me now. I don’t enjoy doing them at all anymore. There is no drive, reason nor feeling of accomplishment. It was all wiped off without a trace, just like our personal levels.
I was fighting till the very end, but that fight seem to be just bashing the head against the wall at this point.
In the past if you asked in Guild Chat if anyone wanted to do fractals, you’d get tons of responses, even if it was asking what level. These days it’s hard to get 1-2 people even remotely interested. It’s almost like Living Story killed fractals. Many people got into mentality that it’s a temporary content just like the personal level and it can go away at any time.
I would love to see how many people play fractals on daily basis now vs. what they were playing before the update. From what I’m seeing it’s barely any. But then again it’s a personal point of view.
Well… Anet… You’ve won in a way. I moved on. I won’t complain or ask for things, since the time I’ve put into many of my toons in fractals was a simple waste of time and clearly do not deserve any recognition at all, as it was stated by many players throughout the forum. I’ll still play the game, but I’ll be steering far away from fractals.

After some extensive tank-and-spank sessions I noticed something weird. Slaying potions actually make you take MORE damage, not less.

I tested this with Undergrowth Webber on new TA path getting hit multiple times with and without Nightmare Court Slaying. Then I went to Arah and tested same with Undead Slaying on Orrian Villager.

You will still deal more damage so at least that part works.

Actually I just managed to solo Alphard just to prove that even after the buffs he’s still pretty easy. It was an afk fight to be honest. I have no idea why are you complaining. Pics attached.

That quest thats is showing in your pic “Navigate the labyrinth of arah” is up, which means you didnt get to Lupicus, so you cheated!

If you look at his combat log… he was using a trident to kill Alphard.. so he somehow pulled her far enough to probably just AFK attack it to death.

It’s photoshop mate.

Yeah definitely, that also explains why you’re picking items up and why Mass Invis is on 98 seconds cooldown And why lupicus’ quest is up.

Ohwait, being a dirty cheater also does. :O

I really don’t know why some posters do not want to receive answers. I mean, everybody knows that small minds cannot handle all the answers, but in this case we are not speaking about high philosophical questions. Everybody should be able to process the information coming from a dev answer.

So, to those people who say that we doesn’t deserve an answer (YES, I know this isn’t the wording you are using, but the concept is similar), care to elaborate why YOU don’t want US to get an answer, even a vague one, from ANet? Thank you.

PS: In case it wasn’t clear for some, you can count me on the ones who would really appreciate answers about ANYTHING that has been written during 2 weeks, because even if I really enjoyed most of the new contents, it is really mind blogging that not even a single member of ANet staff has found the time to read at least the OP of a single thread in this section AND give an answer after the patch came out.

The answer to this question is simpler than you think. People like Kal have lost absolutely nothing. They were probably stuck in heir personal reward level 29 while doing level 28 fractal over and over again without any need to progress nor level any alts. That update not only it didn’t affect their personal level, it also lowered the rewards requirement to teens instead of upper 20s. This way they can keep doing level 10-19 instead of 28. They can also bring their alts into fractals now without lifting a finger leveling those. In these people’s eyes, this update was the best thing that ever happened. Sadly they’re in state of mind where as long as it benefits them it benefits everyone. And to them we are asking for too much, since the update gave them everything they could possibly want. When it comes to compensation for lost levels their mindset is something along the lines of: “If I don’t get anything, why should you?”
All that can be easily seen in all the posts from these players.

Fractals 40+ for is rich or lucky people.

1. legendarys are optional and not required

2. grind the mats took me 6 days to get 2x pistols and bought the ascended ingots / planks for very cheap in total when it came out cost me 90g for both weps.

3. I had the back item for a long time cost me 80g in total for the shiny 1.

4. most of the ppl at 40 + have been 48 + b4 the update came and had 55 ar because WE PUT THE EFFORT IN !

how do u get past 40 ? u grind 30 + till u got enough AR to go 40 +

sucks but if u didn’t bother with fractals b4 this patch your gonna have to do some hard work to get higher.

but hey 40 + is not intended for casual players anyway so either put the effort in or don’t bother

Surely you have noticed how unhappy your customers are with the last patch “Fractured” you released.

Do you plan on giving us feedback on it?

There are thousands of posts telling about how your customers dislike that patch. The reasons for this have been stated constructively and clearly.
The player-base is wondering what kind of measures you are going to take to prevent this lack of quality in the future.

We can bear one bad patch, but I am afraid we can not bear the idea of your studio being okay with releasing such content.

The question is: do you care about your customers being dissatisfied or not?

Hi ANET,

Title:. Bank Collection tab for AR infusion resistance collectables.
Please add the following:
250xAR (lvl 1)
250xAR (lvl 2)
250xAR (lvl 3)

All the way up to 250xAR (lvl N).

I would suggest N = 10 would be a good start. (I would like to see N= 20 after that).
These items are already ‘collectables’ and need a bank Collectable tab slot.

It was also stated that higher levels of fractals have a chance of dropping > +1.
This way players can work on progressing to higher levels of AR slowly as intended without taking up excessive bank slot spaces.

This is probably not a big problem yet – but could easily become an issue as the need for agony resistance increases and these items start to stack up with each run.

The other things im not too bothered about as long as they get addressed eventually.

Honestly the lack of fractal weapon boxes is the big killer for me. Those were the one reason that gave real purpose for doing fractals every day. Without those boxes, there is the same incentive to do fractals every day as there was before the patch, which is to say, not very much.

Much of our VOIP chat was like, “well this sucks, but at least we are going to have fractal weapon boxes to make up for it.” Without them, you are pared down to, “well this sucks.”

Fractal Rewards Issues

  • Got 37 empyreal fragments at scale 45. Before this long awaited patch it would have been 45 fragments.

Mai Trin

  • You might get 9s long agony by moving near the entrance.

Molted Duo

  • Effigy often starts to reset during the fight even when attacked.
  • You might get 9s long agony by moving on the edges of the arena.
  • Sometimes when you wipe you restart at arena instead at the beginning of the fractal.

Cliffside Fractal
• I applaud the devs for trying to fix the Archdiviner exploit which trivialized the encounter. However, their fix is pretty lame. Essentially, the Archdiviner gets 2-3 seconds of free attacks on the party. On several occasions a party member has been given 3 stacks of agony because he spawned the red circles under him during the stun phase. This isn’t a huge deal with max AR, but for people with imperfect gear it becomes a simple RNG gear check which is not how the encounter was intended to be.

That was the case since they remade stun you get while hitting the seal.

Volcanic Fractal

• The camera at the end boss has been changed (bugged?) to keep it from zooming out as far as it used to. This has made melee’ing the boss significantly more difficult and removed that option from most groups. As a result, one of the most interesting and well-designed boss fights in the game has been taken down a few levels of fun. This is disappointing.

Uncategorized Fractal

• Some of the kitty golems at the end allow you to rally, and some do not. I’m not sure how they were designed, so this may be intentional. But for general purposes it is a bit unseemly to have 4 bosses who are all identical for all intents and purposes count differently for that kind of purpose.

Thaumanova Reactor

• In the rescue the lab workers quest, it is possible to rescue them too slowly and have the mission fail/bug out. On two times we did a split (4 people doing the shield/lasers and 1 doing the rescue) in order to make the fractal faster only to have it bug out and force us to restart the entire shard since you cannot finish the fractal or reset it. This is a gamebreaking bug. Right now the solution is to do it as a group to avoid doing it “too slowly” but in a fractal with a non-linear sandbox design, it is a bit disappointing to have the ability to split and come up with creative solutions limited in that way.

Molten Furnace Fractal

• You can bug out the shard forcing a full reset of your progress that level if you enter the furnace room before the NPC finish their dialogue. Any game breaking bug like this should be addressed immediately. Needless to say, a reliance on NPC dialogue/triggers has been demonstrated to be the biggest flaw in your dungeon/instance design and its puzzling why it has been continued here.
• There are several safe spots in the end area that trivialize the encounter somewhat.

Snowblind Fractal

• You can no longer respawn at the check points, and are forced to respawn back at the starting area. This rather annoying if one person dies on the trash run to the end boss, since they then have to run all the way from the start again. Just a huge waste of time for no reason.
• The camera has a bizarre zoom out against the Elemental Source from certain angles. While I would love it if we could zoom out to these distances always in all zones of the game, when you can only do it from limited angles in limited places to no real purpose it seems like a bug at worst, poor implementation at best.
Underground Facility
• Extra dredge added. Really? The problem and biggest complaint since day one has been that there are too many dredge. Good parties can skip many of them no matter how many you add, and bad parties get bogged down. This fractal was already the longest and most annoying to get, and the developers said they were going to address individual fractal balance and the solution is to add more dredge? Sad.
• Blink+Portal exploits still work. How about we make a deal: you remove all the unnecessary dredge (including about half the clown car waves) and you close that blink exploit and we call it even?

Urban Battlegrounds

• The NPCs appear to have had their HP significantly reduced and their agro mechanics changed. They tend to get caught on the endlessly respawning mobs outside the city and take forever to get to the gate. When they do get there, they die much faster than they used to against the veteran mobs. It’s bad enough that an entire fractal is based around the worst mechanic in Guild Wars 2 (npc ally AI) but when there are changes that make them even less reliable it is sheer frustration.
• Making the npc not roll over and die from Ashyim’s Agony attack is a nice change but it makes the fight incredibly easy mode, especially with Time Warp and Battle Standard. Perhaps a middle ground where the fight isn’t an AFK laugher would be better.

Hey all. Like most people who are into fractals/dungeons I was more than a bit disappointed with the announcement of the fractal update due to the removal of my progression equity, negating the hard work we put in to push to level 80 under the old system. As unfortunate as that was, a few of the changes they announced gave us hope that the changes would be fun and what we would gain from the patch would be worth giving up what we lost.

However, after getting to Fractal 50 I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this patch was rushed and botched. I will explain, in depth, why I argue this. But first, I want to give a general critique of the lack of communication from Arena Net in failing to answer all the many, many questions that people have posted in the forums. It’s been complete silence, and quite frankly it sends the message that we all suspected: Anet doesn’t particularly care about the end game PVE content and definitely doesn’t care about the community of players who do. Whether this is true or not I have no idea, but I think it is a bad PR move to drop a huge patch and then disappear. While we could excuse them for being gone on a holiday weekend, the fact that the devs continued to post in PVP/WVW threads is troubling.

With all that said, I want to use the remainder of this post to make a comprehensive log of every bug or problem currently in Fractals. Some of these things may be developer intended, some may be genuine bugs and some might be an issue of someone on the Living Story team responsible for this update not doing his job properly. A developer response on each item would be greatly appreciated. Without further delay…

Fractal Rewards Issues

• The loot table is currently broken as it was before the patch and was not updated. Currently, the shard end chests do not scale loot based on your level and you get the same blue/greens/rares/exotics/cores on 49 as you would on 1. The only thing that scales is the Fractal Relics and daily chest gold bonus.
• Uninfused Rings continue to drop through level 49. An infused ring at 49 is bad enough, an uninfused ring is a slap in the face. This is obviously broken and needs to be fixed.
• Fractal weapon skins continue to drop, fractal weapon boxes do not currently exist. We were promised that weapon skins would be delivered in a box that would allow us to choose the skin we wanted. This was, for players like me, the number one selling point of this update and the reason why I would run fractal dailies every day now instead of farming dungeons. The item code exists in the game but the brackets by the name indicates that the item itself does not. My theory is that this change was planned, but the LS team responsible for this update failed to get it implemented by the deadline. A simple, “we wanted to implement it but didn’t get it done in time. We will add them next patch” would suffice.
• The new recipes are account bound. I have both recipes now, each new recipe that drops is useless for me, these should be sellable. It wouldn’t hurt the market for the Runes/Sigils since they are very limited by Shards which are a relatively scarce resource.

Individual Fractal Bugs/Issues

Underwater Fractal

• Krait still get stuck in the ceiling and you have to hope you can get far enough away from them to reset them or else your progress could be lost. Granted this is the first part of the first fractal, but it is still technically a game-breaking bug and ought to be fixed out of principle.

Cliffside Fractal

• The arms seals do not properly reset to 2 chanters on each side in case of a wipe. This is mildly annoying in the 30’s for a good group. This is pretty tough in the 40’s and will only get more difficult for unorganized groups as progress into the 50’s and beyond begins to happen. This was supposed to have been fixed months ago but that promised change appears to have not happened and been forgotten.

Fractal Weapon Boxes

On two occasions a dev mentioned that fractal weapons would come in boxes that allowed you to choose the fractal skin you wanted.

And everyone rejoiced, for this was by far the best feature of this update.

However, the aforementioned fractal weapon box does not exist and Fractal Tridents are still dropping like candy. The awful kind of candy you got on halloween that came in unlabeled wrappers that your parents through out because it looked extremely shady.

This raises a question: when can we expect to have the boxes added to the game and thereby make fractal dailies worth doing?

Gandalf just had recently converted to berserker, so he wasn’t used to ~12k HP and forgot to equip his GS back after using staff to help his team skip a boss, which is why he died. Friggin’ scrub.

Gandalf went to solo the Balrog like a real elitist instead of letting his party fight with him. I’m pretty surprised that they didn’t kick him for being a scumbag elitist and not letting them have the champion chest as well.

I assumed this would be the case:
Lv. 1-10: 1 gold
Lv. 11-20: 2 gold
Lv. 21-30: 3 gold
Lv. 31-40: 4 gold
Lv. 41-50: 5 gold

This would make a lot more sense, given the time commitment and difficulty required and a simple comparison to dungeons rewards.

Same reason sorrows embrace path 2 gives 1 gold and I’m still getting greens and blues from fractal chests. Anet struggles with balancing rewards zerging around champs while half Afk gives better rewards

How does this make sense? COF path 1 takes roughly 10 minutes. Lv. 31 fractals take about an hour.

This scale would make a lot more sense:
Lv. 1-10: 1 gold
Lv. 11-20: 2 gold
Lv. 21-30: 3 gold
Lv. 31-40: 4 gold
Lv. 41-50: 5 gold

This would make a lot more sense, given the time commitment and difficulty required and a simple comparison to dungeons rewards.

People are tired by the third fractal, and putting the longest one at the end is just frustrating. Instead we should be getting the longest over with first, and then have things move from trash clearing to puzzle solving.
