Today I tried Ascalon path 1 in solo.
I could kill the first spider boss, after several deaths.
But the 2nd one was too hard, I abandoned.

I would really like to be able to do dungeons when I want and without having to wait to create a group.

Join the club of “please add these already existing armors that shouldn’t be NPC exclusive”

Totally. I remember when Anet confirmed that every player are able to wear ALL NPCs armors and weapons during the GW2 was unreleased and Beta..
Oh ya right, KISS MY kitten , ANET!
keep telling us lies…
I would love to wear so many NPCs armors, but of course we players can’t wear them, really kitten me off during my 2 years here!

@Aaron: Interesting, however, people have cut and pasted the other texture before and it lined up perfectly. It’s possible that a smidget was removed from the Priory texture, perhaps.

@FlamingFoxx: Places that don’t snow are due to warmer climates. The reason for such changes – closer to the equator or due to warm wind currents (reason why some of Europe isn’t as cold as other places of equal latitude).

Kryta, however, appears to be far enough away from the equator and without any warm wind currents that either shouldn’t be effecting it.

And the state of snow in GW2 during Wintersday is very important to note: they did decorate all of Lion’s Arch, but once you leave the city proper the snow stops, as do the snow devices; they redid the entire map, but intentionally didn’t snow the entire zone. They also altered the five racial cities and starter areas, yet only enough to have the snow devices and “magical snow” piles. At the very least, if Kryta were to snow naturally, you’d think all of Lion’s Arch would be snow-covered.

As to your comment on equator and climates – the logic you provide works for a sphere, but not quite for a torus shape world.

In the end, however, I do think that it is on a sphere. However, I was merely pointing all of this out because your statement “there’s absolutely no evidence to support that >.>” (“this” referring to Tyria possibly being torus shaped) is false. Because there is evidence to support it, even if it is more likely to be a sphere.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Given that from every location on Tyria we have ever been they’re able to experience the full orbit of the planet around the sun and can also see the stars – it’s a spherical planet. If Elona is equatorial, which it is heavily suggested to be, then Cantha would have to be on an interior plane of the torus, their view if it were would be quite different to what the rest of Tyria can see.

Actually, there is some evidence – via only the texture – for Tyria (the world) being a torus shape. The east/west ends match up, as do the north/south ends. Two fun facts about rectangular/square world maps:

 • Usually on such maps, it’s only the east/west ends, where the north and south ends are stretched out into being the same ‘dot’ location (this is why Antartica covers the full bottom of a world map of Earth); this is not so for the Tyria texture.
 • Globe maps put into a square also feature a north-south elongation of locations the closer to the polar caps you see, caused once more by taking a spherical shape and making it square. This is why on world maps Greenland often appears the size of South America – it very much isn’t. This, once more, does not appear to happen on the Tyria texture.

This results in either there being distortions on the central ends of the north and south sides of the sphere (where the poles would be, theoretically at least), or the texture is not meant to be on a sphere, but a torus.

All lore statements and in-game models however point to Tyrians believing that the world is a sphere.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Tyria is not a globe. It’s a Torus. A donut.

There’s absolutely no evidence to support that >.> (in fact most evidence points to the contrary, it would be a bit weird if a planet that’s littered with observatories had no clue that it was doughnut shaped). I’m going to assume that you’re saying that because the texture is a square… It’s a lot easier to make a square texture than one that will actually fit around a globe. Of course they could do it, but, as the giant map sitting right before me suggests, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a square map; square maps are usually a little bit easier for people to comprehend.

At about the time of the change, one of the PvP-centric Devs said that the Tribal Armor would possibly be added to a reward track.

That was some time ago, though, and he hasn’t mentioned anything about it since.

I don’t think (or hope) that’s the case. I’m glad she is checking in on the weekend, and she may not be able to get into contact with people who could provide info on the matter at the moment.

I do believe she’s noticed, I have a good amount of patience to wait, but I hope we aren’t backburnered too long XD

When I was first reading about Ebonhawke way back I was SO hopeful there would be open PvP against the Charr as we try to hold them back, and even reclaim the Ascalonian homeland. I still occasionally go back to GW1 just to go north of the Wall and decimate the Charr forces out there.

I actually refused to do the one heart quest in the Charr homeland that has you help to destroy the wall, when I came across that heart I was literally angry. I did eventually get it done by doing events nearby though.

Scarlet didn’t take a realistic time to build the Breachmaker or the Kessex Flower Tower. So at the very least cleaning up the rubble would not be unrealistic in the face of that precedent. And I am more than ready to go beyond mere cleanup and get on with (gasp!) rebuilding.

their artists can either draw you new maps like silverwastes or they can redraw old maps like la

they dont have enough manpower or budget for both

which do you pick?

Well that’s a bit presumptuous and ridiculous. Have you attended some company manpower and budget meetings? Or are you just saying the first thing that came into your head in order to post something negative?

This company is geared towards releasing new content every two weeks. And despite the fact that they know their work will often be gone in a short time, they have still managed to produce some very nice settings. I have every faith that they can do this, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to hear that they already have “New LA” mostly ready to be deployed.

Between the Megaserver and the physical loss of Tyria’s social center, the game is darker and lonelier than ever. We need a bright spot for morale’s sake.

Its been approximately eight months in the real world since the destruction of LA. Tyria uses a 2 real world hour day/night cycle. This means that eight months in the real world is approximately 96 months in game.

So it has been approximately eight years in game since LA was all but destroyed by Scarlet.

“Tyria” is an old Dwarvish word. It apparently translates into the common tongue as “Scarlet’s Junkyard”.

I fully understand that they are trying to show us that the world physically changes… that it’s not static. They want it to feel “alive”.

So change it again! Clean up the mess! Everything is being destroyed, but nothing is being cleaned up (much less rebuilt). We’ve lived almost half of the game’s existence amongst Scarlet’s rubble. It doesn’t feel like a “living world” when so much of it looks dead.

There’s tons and tons of raw materials free for the taking in Kessex Hills and Lion’s Arch to build some fantastic cities. Make the world feel like a place we’d fight to protect.

For those of you who point to “realism”, and say “give them time”, I say phooey on you! Was it realistic that Scarlet built all of those monstrous structures in almost no time at all? Without the backing of several cities worth of people that the good guys have? …in total secrecy?

There have been lots of changes to this game since the beginning. Many of those have been hugely controversial. But the beauty and realism of the artwork are amongst the most unanimously positive aspects of the game. Stop destroying the one characteristic that almost everyone agrees is done right.

Wintersday is almost upon us. The most magical season of all is coming. Give us back the gift of our beautiful world. Please. Then perhaps the Durmand Priory scholars can reassess their translation of the word “Tyria”.

For those of you who point to “realism”, and say “give them time”

Give it time for realism, because realistically the new LA is probably still on the drawing table. I imagine we want to move away from Lion’s Arch being a pirate haven and make it more of a “city by the people, for the people” – the beacon of light for those who need a home. Lion’s Arch can be rebuilt as a symbol of Tyria’s unity instead of Tyria’s divide.

I do hope it’s something that they’re actually focusing on though. Lion’s Arch is far too important to be dismissed as a Scarlet casualty forever.

I have a idea , Why don’t Arena net send out IN-Game mails with lets say 3 options , The player gets to chose which of the 2 options he/she would like to see in game and press reply. That way Arena net can at least know how many of the community want what.
Possible options :
Guild Halls
More Utilities/Elites
Diffrent proffesions
More dungeons
and so on

Angela Sky , THE Guardian
Orochimarei , THE Necromancer

The problem is that most people still wouldn’t actually do those things. Rather they would just come here and rage about being “spammed” by the system and demand that it stops.

Doubtful… No one complained about being spammed by the once a month letter containing free stuff from gem purchases.

This game isn’t really about maximizing stats in the first place unlike other MMO’s.

This game requires no grinding to be able to play at max stats as you are downscaled in so much content, however those shiny cosmetics that are optional do require grinding a lot of the time, dem legendary grinds, but you don’t need it at all

One story goes that they added ascended because the devs were surprised how easy it was to get Exotic

Yeah, right. They definitely were surprised, especially since their stated earlier goal was for players to be able to deck themselves in top stat gear by the time they hit level 80. I mean, it was really surprising that the game followed stated designs, right?

And while it is great to have a “smooth” vertical progression, it probably was too smooth before ascended gear and the metrics probably hit the red button with players leaving due to the “what to do now?” syndrome.

The players were leaving, because the honeymoon period ended. Every MMO loses massive numbers of players in its first months – the Locust, the people that tried MMO for the first time (and didn’t like it), the people that thought that it will be “like WoW, but better”, the people whose friends stopped playing due to one of the above reasons… Ascended gear might have stopped some from leaving, but also pushed others away. Was the net result positive? Unlikely (or Anet would have introduced another tier by now).

i guess my friends were right, this game is fun untill 80, then it just flattens out so hard.

That’s a funny statement, everyone that i know and plays gw2 thinks the opposite, the game is terrible boring until you are lvl 80.

We don’t play to get gear (that would feel like a job :\), we play because IT’S FUN. Of course some player’s goal is to get X reward, either legendary items or such, but most of us just play because we like to play it. We like to smash enemies in WvsW, or we like to kill dragons like Tequatl in an organized teamspeak with 50 more friends, or we like to go to the new maps and defend the castles against mordrems like if was an Age of Empires game for 1 hour.

I hope you understand my point. Most MMOs makes you “work” to get your desired items, GW2 instead let’s you get them easier so you can enjoy playing. This game offers a lot of activities, I made a post in the spanish forum a few days ago listing all what you can do at level 80… the list is really long. If you think that you have nothing to do just because you have your gear, then please go back to WoW or other MMOs that force you to “have this equipment or gtfo”. This is GW2, this is different!

I never quite enjoyed the “grinding” part of any game. I prefer leveling, exploring (you can combine these two) or pvping.
And to be honest, in other games it doesn’t really feel like you’re achieving much with new gear either, since everything around you grows stronger as well (well, unless you have the_best_gear_in_the_game maybe).

I personally don’t like the looks of the ascended gear, but I have some other goals, like exploring and stuff. This game has neat level design, and there’s no need to rush through.

I think by grinding for skins he meant the other generally unique skins, Immobulus, Infinite Light, etc. Not necessarily Ascended Armor/etc.

Exotic gear is easy to get now, because the game has been out for 2+ year’s, so everyone knows the easy ways to get exotic gear, and are more focused on working on the rarer skins.
