Umm guys?
iMage, 3 stacks, 4 stacks, 50 stacks, 500 stacks? It doesn’t matter how many stacks if mechanically the iMage is flawed.

They have already acknowledged that the wvw achievments are an issue, and that they’re working on it. IIRC we will see the fix along with precursor crafting, i.e. by the end of 2013.
Was over a year ago, just like all the other promises and ideas for WvW.
When will the WvW achievements finally be adjusted to something realistic? I think they all need at least 1-2 zeros removed. Even the 250k kill one is becoming more and more unlikely as the WvW population is getting less and less. You have to keep searching for enemy zergs longer and longer even in T1 matchups. 250k kills is/was possible, but you need to tag everyone in 5000 – 50 men zergs and have them all die. I wont even get started about the other WvW achievements which are even more crazy time consuming and absurd. WvW or even GW2 will be dead before someone gets any of them.
If I remember right it was promised in early 2013 to have the WvW achievements adjusted by end of 2013, now we almost have 2015 and nothing has changed except two achievements for spending supplies.
I think if the achievements and titles would be more realistic goals (such as the Eotm achievements are), more people would be motivated to play WvW again.
[Lets try to keep this topic on page 1 and get 1000+ replies so Anet finds a reason to act]
Only a WvW player never thinks of Richard Nixon when someone mentions Watergate.
Oh my… LMFAO!

Happy to see you’re still here. I quit but right now I am downloading the client again.

I know that the title sounds like a continuation of this thread but it’s not.. Sorta.
If you play Mesmer and have crafted your own build then I’m sure you’ve heard it before, whether PvP, PvE, or WvW:
“What is that? Whatever the hell you’re running isn’t viable.”
Many Mesmer players are a creative bunch, and there are loads of traits and utilities that are a lot of fun or highly interesting to use but don’t fit into the meta for one reason or another, and thus get labeled as unviable. As a result, builds that take these traits often too-quickly fall to the wayside.
Lets get something straight: Meta builds are meta for a reason, and that reason is usually because of all the competition, they’re the best at what they do. Shatter is the best in PvP, PU is the best at WvW roaming, Mantra/Phant is the best in PvE. But this does not mean that anything that isn’t one of these specific builds is bad.. quite the opposite.
I often feel that people get too caught up in terms and labels. “Viable” gets misused too frequently, good builds will be labeled “bad” if they are not the the absolute best, and creativity gets stunted as a result. These labels often don’t take one major factor into account: player skill.
Many of us have had instances where we’ve been happily playing our custom-made build and kicking all of the butts until we’re suddenly told that what our trait combo, amulet/gear sucks, even though they’ve worked fine for our purposes. This can often be helpful, and one should always keep an open mind for new information on how to improve but -IMO- one should never simply blindly compromise their ideas.
This is especially important in PvP, where meta builds reign in abundance. You’ll often hear that what you’re running isn’t viable if it is not shatter, ESPECIALLY if it is condition-based, but what is often overlooked is that there are actually a LOT of different good builds that can work very well all the way up until you reach the highest levels. But ask yourself: Are you playing PvP to compete against top tier teams and go to tournaments? If so, then you’re likely already playing shatter or have found a team that you can build around. These people are the few, but for the majority it really matters way less on what build you’re running as much as how well you’re running it.
6/6/0/2/0 can work. 0/4/6/4/0 can work. 4/4/6 condi can work and so can plenty of other combinations as long as the player behind the build is competent enough to make it work.
There’s the argument that if you could make these builds work, then you could make shatter work even better, and this is true to an extent, but again .. if you’re not playing for serious competition, then why shoehorn yourself into a build you don’t actually feel like running?
TL:DR- Don’t be afraid to explore! Your build isn’t as important as the skill of the player behind it, and experiencing different styles of play only serves to improve.

Oh theres the anet presence, locking threads!
The “Season 1 Reward” sticky thread was removed recently—PROGRESS.
P.S. Never did get my season 1 rewards
2 Years of no significant WvW updates, bad matchup system.
GG Anet killing their own most unique game mode.
My advice: don’t.
Long videos suck. They’re hard to get through, turn people off, a pain in the rear end to upload, just all sorts of bad. Instead, aim to keep your videos at 10 minutes or below. Starting from that length, pick a limited range of topics to cover in each video. One on matchups, one on builds, one on tips and tricks, etc.
This way you can link specific videos for reference instead of saying ‘oh, it’s somewhere between 12:00 and 20:00. It allows you to do it in pieces to make the project more manageable as well.
Hate to be contrary, but it is not the player’s job to figure out a way for them to monitize their product. Especially at this stage of the game.
1. Siege skins (for example: catas firing cakes, trebs firing quaggans, steampunk ballista etc.)
2. Fancy commander icons (baby quaggan, lion etc.)
3. FINISHER RANDOMISER (when you stomp it randomly selects one from those you have unlocked)
4. Toys that DO work in wvw
5. Additional guild emblems
Oh look another bug fix for Mesmer, I guess portal wasn’t looking right so they fixed it.
Retired.
I’m gonna go with broken as kitten
Duuuuuuuudeeeeee…. Its like drugggsss
I think with all buggy non-ip shatter skills are atm (especially distortion) that this would be a nice quality of life change to Mesmer, raise the skill cap, and create a lot more build diversity in the class. Of course, this is assuming that this is incorporated in a balanced, non overpowered way.
Retired.
One of the things I feel that is lacking with WvW is the possibility of a comeback.
In all good sports one side can dominate the match but there is always the chance that the losing side can score 3 or 4 quick goals and win the match.
This can never happen with the current scoring system…
What may help is if the emphasis was placed on captures rather than PPT.
So you would drastically increase the value of capturing an objective, and greatly reduce the points from holding an objective. You would still want it to give you an advantage, to encourage the winning side to hold on to it, but the losing side still needs some sort of way of turning the tide in the final hours/day of the match.
Maybe that is in the form of capturing SMC or an enemy Garri. If the winning sides are far ahead on points all they have to do is hold their garri. But likewise the losing side still has a chance if they can mount one massive offensive and cap the garri before the match ends.

Lol, this thread is amazing.
Have fun roaming with 30 rangers shooting you 10k from 1500 yards out of nowhere just when you’re winning a 1v2/1v3.
Seriously, it’s not worth roaming anymore with so much random bullkitten no matter what you play. All about the cheese.
What would be interesting is if we could ditch the concept of servers altogether. For PvE and PvP, your server does not really matter anyway. So we’re primarily looking at WvW.
I know this is purely hypothetical, but imagine the following:
- There are no more separate servers.
- Guilds can form alliances.
- Alliances can assign other alliances as allies and rivals.
- ‘Signatures’ are calculated for WvW activity of guilds/alliances.
- Matchmaking is done by spreading the alliances out as evenly as possible, topped off by the guildless players and allianceless guilds. For guildless players they should be grouped with as many friends as possible.
This would create more varied matches, and more equal matches. Assuming most current servers form an alliance with their current guilds, you still keep some server pride going.
Alternatively, for the sake of simplicity, skip the alliances part and just have guilds assign others as allied/rivals.
Finally using the phantasm mantra zerg build, really good stuff here. Really nice spike damage, although you’re fighting small zergs and its easier to build more zerker.
I’ll also upload some shatter stuff soon. MoP, triumphant distortion and Mind Stab are good buffs for us.
@Lord, sorry but that’s a bad version. No Triumphant Distortion, sword OH is useless in zergs and let scholar runes to pve.

I was sitting there saying the same thing.
“OMG ileap now indicates range! … Wait.. it still fails miserably when I’m out of range, it just now tells me I’m a failure in big letters. =/”

If players can complete the wvw season weekly achievement far quicker than they can complete the wvw-related daily achievements, you’ve swung the pendulum in too far in the easy direction.
Henge of Denravi
I was actually looking forward to Season 3 because of the achievements. Now that sounds incredibly shallow and not something that a person who only plays wubwub would say, but I was hoping the Season 3 achievements would bring more people into the very empty wubwub maps just like they did during the previous ones too. During the first days of Season 2, the ruins were full of people and had constant fights going on but now.. Yeah. Nevermind.
