I expect LS3 will contain 25 min story, 12 glider skins, 4 BL weapon sets and 6 outfits, and possibly, very possibly, a gem store sale on instant repair canisters, in incremental releases over 9 months.
My wishlist for the next expansion is.. oh, let’s see.. no, nothing.
I fully expect the next expansion to contain 1 completely new fractal, a promise to reinstate the legendary team (don’t worry, they’ll never keep it), a complete remake of the trait system and scrapping of the mastery system (after all they did state that they intended to add to it, ie a clear death sentence). Oh right, and more glider skins!

In due time, all will serve the asura.

I’ve been involved with numerous teaching guilds and honestly I have nothing but positive things to say about the majority of them. Many require no prior experience, and are often happy to let you join with exotics providing you have a good attitude and are willing to learn.

I like to play my own way and dislike being nothing but a meta clone, and in most cases my own playstyle and builds outperform the meta because I understand my proffesions more than the average joe who just copy/pastes a build and thinks they are good to go.

I understand what your saying here, but a mentality like this won’t get you far if you’re applying to a teaching group. They need players who are willing to function as part of a team, who will listen and adapt to whatever the situation calls for. You’re not being a clone by adopting something similar to the meta, rather you’re taking into consideration the experience and knowledge of players who have cleared the content hundreds of times and have figured out the most reliable ways to do things. I’d argue that it’s more elitist to simply assume that your way is the best way without providing any justification for your cause. After all, please keep in mind that the raids are extremely difficult for learning groups to clear, and it can be extremely demotivating to have just one person within a group that is unable to adapt.

Raids are about teamwork. If you aren’t willing to make a small sacrifice to adjust your build to make it better for the team, then maybe raids aren’t for you.

Good God let it go already, this change is not just about queues, its about players who have no interest in wvw going onto the map and taking up limited space with no regards to anything but their own convenience to do something that has nothing whatsoever to do with the content. This is something that has been asked for many times over the years. Learn to adapt like everyone else and go to a city to do all this crafting that you claim you need to do so often.

Legendary envoy armor is a prestige item for dedicated raiders. Making it accessible to players that aren’t interested in the raiding experience (which includes the difficulty) is pretty absurd and diminishes the achievements of those that got it the ‘hard’ way. I’m not a fan of the ‘everybody is a winner’ ideology. People that put in time, effort and skill deserve to be rewarded for it. If you’re unwilling/unable to do all 3, you’re not entitled to the reward and raids are not the content for you.

Dungeons have a larger story line than raids, this is not a matter of opinion but a fact.

When you compare things to each other, you address the similarities between them, you’re not trying to prove that both are the same. In my opinion there are plenty of similarities between dungeons and raids worth mentioning, which I’ve already addressed.

Anyhow the point I’m trying to make is: ‘why weren’t all these super casual, story obsessed people complaining about dungeons?’ And I think the answer lies with the rewards and not with the quality of the story or the difficulty/barrier of entry of the content. Imo some people are using the story as an excuse in order to get easier, although more time consuming, access to the legendary envoy armor.
If you’re truly interested in the story, there are plenty of resources, both inside and outside of the game and there is no need to waste development time on a ‘story mode’ that players will play once.
If you’re interested in the legendary armor and the ‘prestige’ of the skin, just get good and do the raids in their current form. Nobody (aside from envious players that don’t want anybody else to accomplish what they can’t) will benefit from making legendary armor into another brainless farm achievement.

Also, telling me my opinion is just my opinion and doesn’t matter is NOT an argument.

Sir, i reported for active duty, last night. Yes, sir, last night was just the same a before, EB that has no history of crafting stations, sir, and it had a long queue, sir.
Yes, sir, your solution is working, sir, but I still can’t report for duty on EB, sir.
The upper brass, sir, said to this worthless private, sir, that the problem would be fixed, sir, with removing the stations.
As it goes, sir, I can’t do my job, sir. The solution seems to not work in my case, sir.
This private is too dumb to guess, what a working solution, would be sir. This private is forced to wait outside EB, and cannot help his team, sir. Requesting transfer to EB, sir.

There is truth in that, WvW has turned, strictly in a competition a sort of group PvP.
Anybody else, that does not think, with this group-think, is very much unwelcome.
In my view, there is no way to change this driving force and we have to accept that WvW has taken an elitist turn and is headed in that direction. Time will say if that survives with dwindling population and multi-server grouping.
We all know about the route, that will be taken, first 2 servers, link and when that fails, 3 servers link and when that fails 4 servers link and so on and no end in sight about the queues that this creates. Eventually, even the die-hard crowd starts dropping out and that becomes the slow death.

Yeah, I’d prefer if it was Staves, but both are correct. I do like how Adryn is a Stavemaster instead of a Staffmaster, though.

If Adryn were a Staffmaster, he’d be too busy stuck in corporate meetings with Mordremoth to be able to take the fight to the heroes. (Unless that’s why he’s fighting? “YOU ARE RUINING OUR PRODUCTION SCHEDULE! THIS IS A DIRECT MANAGEMENT INTERVENTION!”)

I think the presence of siege enhances the feeling that we are in a war and not some barbaric all out slugging of each other in a vast open plain with no structures and no other motives. Besides, siege itself is very costly (the ones that are effective) and this balances itself out to some extent. So nope, I don’t vote for less features in game.

It is essentially a new " which servers have less players that hate the DBL?" win mechanic that did not exist in the game before.

It’s not new. There are players who dislike EBG. There are players who dislike ABL. There are players who like DBL. It’s not a new idea, it’s a new variable.

When you’re creating maps keep some things in mind.
There needs to be 3 ways out of a spawn for every side.
There needs to be an equal amount of camps, towers, keeps as the other borderlands, so it provides the same total ppt.
Every capture area needs to have a purpose attached to them, whether it’s keeps that hold your spawn points, or towers that allow you to siege other structures or provide buffs or give access to other areas.
Need some open areas to promote fights, even tunnels and lane ways should be big enough for a zerg to run through and not have things like the camera be obstructive, ebg has a lot of good examples of these.

Here’s a possibly crazy idea (apologies if someone else has already suggested this, the topic searcher doesn’t think so):

Why not put the crafting stations back in Obsidian Sanctum? OS certainly doesn’t have any queueing problems, and I’d like to think it can be easily filtered out as counting towards wvw “activity.” Plus it removes the issue of using the WvW crafting stations without participating in WvW by moving them to a place that isn’t safe from attack. The more I think about it the more I like the risk/reward trade-off of being able to warp to/from WvW for crafting without losing your place in the PVE maps, but at the risk that you might be murdered if you aren’t on your guard while doing said crafting.

You only need 6 people for puzzles. The recommended number is higher to let you have a greater margin of error and so you’re not as hard pressed for time. Even so, I wouldn’t try doing Hard Bounty with only 6 people given the selections for those can be pretty nasty (looking at you, Yanonka) with some of their routes being incredibly long (Diplomat Tarban/Prisoner 1141) and eating up a lot of time. Some people advertise in LFG that they’re about to do guild missions so maybe that’s something to consider if you’re short on numbers? You can always have the people leave the guild when you’re done, as well as making missions more accessible to those who maybe want to remain guildless but want commendations for ascended accessories.

Hello everyone,
with a lot of people lately being especially vocal and negative about raids, I thought I would take some time to express my absolute satisfaction with this gamemode. Anet, please don’t pay attention to people complaining, it comes from silly entitlement of some individuals who expect to be able to easily access everything (including content that wasn’t even designed for them).
Raids are a major success, I love everything about them. I think you’ve set the bar perfectly, the tuning is just right and there’s no need to change things up. Most encounters are a real challenge when you face them for the first time and remain very entertaining and fun even after many repeats.
Raids are what’s keeping me playing during this content drought. You’ve shown again you’re capable of designing beautiful, challenging, fun and repeatable content. Raid combat, map design, the lore, everything is just so amazing. Even more so if you consider that raid team is actually very small.
For a long time as a veteran player I felt left out. Majority of the game is designed to be very casual, easy and relaxing. That’s a good thing, but sometimes you just want a bit more engaging content, which takes some preparation and commitment. We finally got that. Please don’t ever step back, don’t let anyone make you think raids were a bad choice. They are perfect just the way the are.
Keep up the good work.

Really Bright Areas [Merged]

I am not sure how long this has been a thing (I never saw it during my last 2 Map Completions), but I was roaming about for a while during my 3rd Map Completion, and I ran up on a particular spot in Gendarren Fields (at the Almuten Waypoint) whose gamma is off the charts wrong. The area is way too bright.

At first, I thought it was my graphics card until I brought a friend along for a second opinion, to which he saw the same thing I did.

Attached to this thread is a screenshot of the area, and when you enter the building near the Almuten Waypoint, your character’s face, etc. turns almost completely white.

Please fix this, Anet.

Things like this can cause some players to wrongly assume their graphics card is messed up when it is not, potentially making them spend unnecessary money on a new graphics card, and yes, that could happen to somebody in-game who does not go through the proper troubleshooting steps.

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Many of you have been inquiring as to why we made the decision to remove the crafting stations in WvW. We made this decision because we have been seeing an increase in queue times with world linking. Upon observation we found there have been players taking up space in the maps who are only crafting and not participating with their teams. However, we’ve been listening to your feedback today and we wanted to let you know that we will be adding a banker to each team starting area in EB, Alpine and Desert. Thank you for the continued feedback!

Apologies for being a bit combative here, but you said you would have ANET stop making raids if they continued in the current form.

Because in their current form, they are divisive. I don’t want to see them go away – but I also don’t want to see them continue down the path they are on now either.

Just look at the recent complaints about the content drought – in the forums, on reddit, on news sites. A lot of players don’t even consider or mention raids when they are making those comments, because raids do not fit with the general theme and feel of the PVE game we have grown used to.

It is like they are a side game developed for a new audience – which is what I actually believe Anet originally intended. IMO, raids were developed to fill a marketing niche – to try and entice a new category of player to the game.

The problem is, imo, they did that at the expense of the base game – both in terms of development resources (however small) and the walls they put in the community. Raids created divisions in the game that never existed before. Yes, there were a few elitists that tried to pretend that Arah was somehow exclusive, but that was never really the case. As long as they stayed away from enrage timers in that kind of content, it was always doable with pretty much any build/playstyle in the game (and that was a good thing).

They consciously tried to make raids something apart from the rest of the PVE experience – and, among a decent sized population (I believe), that has not been well received.

I have made more connections with people and got to know more players with a still increasing friendlist, than I ever did with fractals/dungeons/open world/LS. Simply because the old content did not require me to interact in a meaningfull manner with the game or the players. Raids are not building walls between people, they are breaking down walls for me and many others. I was hardly interested in the people I pugged fractals and dungeons with, I got kicked out of more groups and saw more people kicked out more fractals than I ever saw with raiding.

Ultimately I do not want to go back to the harsh content that is dungeons and fractals which I often times got kicked out of for no reason at all, or worse even didn’t allow me to join since I did not meet the 5k AP requirement. I do not want to go back to having full zergs of people yell at me for killing a champion in queensdale and orr. Often would I get yelled at for conducting different than these 100 people pressing 1 at a champ. I do not want to go back to players mindlessly rushing content for 1/2 weeks only to leave the new maps in the dust when the the next update happens. This type of content builds so many walls the chinese are probably still impressed with the total length of it.

Putting these 6 devs at LS3 is not gonna turn it in good content. Simply because it is easy, repetitive and temporary in nature. However if you have fun looting AB, SW chests and all that stuff, I do not demand it to be changed and turned in different content.

These 6 devs were even working on LS in the past ( correct me if I’m wrong), it still was not a replayable and engaging experience. LS is the culprit, it is temporary in nature and we got a small expansion because of all the devs working on it. Look at all this content that has been received exceptionally well for the resources spend.

- SAB ( 1 devs initiative )
- Shatterer ( very little resources spend )
- SW jumping puzzle ( again a few devs)
- Raids ( 6 man team )

Putting these 6 people on LS forever is a bad idea because of diminishing returns and because LS is a flawed format for new content. Raids are probably more rewarding content for arenanet than LS3 will ever be. Now maybe they fix these issues with LS3 ( which would be outstanding dev work), I have good hopes since I sincerely believe these devs working on LS are just as competent as the raid team.

We literally made a raid squad in my small dutch guild yesterday on the fly, got some friends/pugs some of mind you were first timers, and 5 minutes later we were clearing wing 1 with vg and gorseval killed at 2 attempts ( so difficult, so much organisation). We are not exceptional players at all nor have we raided much together. Non of these issues and walls you guys describe were present. How is it quite some friends of mine with only 20 LI’s have no problems getting into raids? How is it quite some casuals only raid and are still succesfull?I really doubt how many critics actually tried to raid.

To me it seems an awfull lot like a lot of players want a share in the raid experience (for good reason), but do not really understand what this experience is about. Making an easy mode raid will turn them in what we have with fractals/dungeons/open world. LS3 is comming up and we won’t have a new raid for a long time, have some patience arenanet is changing and you won’t see results immediately.

Yes you are forced to raid for Legendary armor

You are also “forced”:

To play PvP for glorious armor
To play WvW for their newly added armor set
To do full map exploration for old legendary weapons
To do full HoT map exploration for new legendary weapons
To play events for Karma armor/weapons
To play AB for Auric weapons
To play VB for bladed armor
To play TD for chak weapons
To play DS for leystone armor
To do achievements for achievement armor/weapons
To win WvW seasons for Mistforged weapons
To do fractals for Fractal weapons
To do high level fractals for golden fractal weapons
To do fractals for the fractal backpack
To do Ranked PvP for the PvP backpack
To Play SW for luminescent armor

You might as well quit the game, everything seems to be exclusive…

And all of those are simply skins, with maybe the exception of a few stat combos, giving no advantage at all over anything you could buy off the tp or get in any game mode.

World Linking 6/24/2016

Posted by: SilentKill.9586

I would suggest some improvements to the linking system anet if you are going to continue to use it.
I believe you are basing your links off of server population not wvw population. If I am wrong then I stand corrected.

1. Anet you need to verify population during time zones not just population. Then pair up servers that have off hour coverage with servers that do not have off hour coverage.
2. The top six servers do not need linked with anyone. Ive fought all 6 so far and been just blobbed down by every server in all timezones.
3. Close down the bottom 3 servers and give free transfers to any server not in the top six. There are to many server loyalists who refuse to go to a higher server.
4. Once you have figured out the wvw population correctly you could do a rotation. The tiers could stay the same but you could do a round robin with other servers instead of playing the same servers over and over again like before. So say top three are bg, tc, yb. All three of those servers go to play in different tiers with better coverage servers.

What you have done is basically stacked all the top servers in t1 and t2 anything below this has lost more and more guilds over the past few weeks because not much left to fight.

Just my two cents
