Glad I was able to get 186g for mine last night

ugg I’m so jealous, I knew that was going to happen. I’m so freaking pooor lol. I spend 4 hours last night waiting at the SB event because it kept getting reset by the patches. I hit 3 back to back to back, I only had 1 level 80 toon though so I figured I would only get the one shot since we had one chest per day crap now.

This is the first time I have ever gotten lucky in this game. Heck, I even had to borrow gold from the guild to sell the dang thing.

I have always wondered why a developer doesn’t use the model: Gamble to get it first and then a month or two later make it a direct buy.
There are always people that want it ‘right now’ and will take that chance. And there are those that will never gamble to get it. So why not please both groups and allow the gamble then later convert to a direct buy. The developer gets money both times. Plus if they make the gamble cheaper than the direct buy, some will still take the chance.

I wouldn’t call it sexist just more ways to play the current lottery. I have seen plenty of male characters in magenta, pink, purple and all shades in between.

I don’t even know what to say to this.

Color does not define what gender you are. Those days are way behind us. Females appreciate blue just as men appreciate pink. Females do not have rights to the color pink and just because something is pink, does not mean it is instantly only for females.

There is nothing sexist about it at all. You are just looking too far into it. It is a unique skin that is exclusive to the Black Lion Chest. Same as the Tiger Charr Backpack.

Oh, I don’t mind guests, Cargan. I’m happy to have you all.

What really bothers me, though is that there are consistent pushes to declare TC the unofficial RP, Orr, Event, and Leveling server -which, face it, is 90% of the game.

So, there is a constant influx of people to the point where is becoming a problem. That’s what bothers me because I want the “unoffical” anything to be more spread out as to avoid overburdening any one server as has happened to TC.

That said, I like your idea. I need to get the biggest broom I can find and make sure my house is in the quietest retirement home I can afford.

I’m going to give some feedback to ArenaNet here. And I really don’t want to be negative, but somethings will be said. First off, being told to go to home city, then to LA, then to home city, then back to LA… yeah, I thought circular logic was only for people suffering from cognitive dissonance these days, but apparently not. Second, the events, although a nice improvement and with little wait between them are two few in number. You may want to add more to the zones if you want people to go back around through them and see stuff they might have skipped. Thirdly, the lost and found achievement… after five hours of combing wayfairer foothills, then being reduced to having to youtube the answers, and even them not working = waist of my time. I don’t like wasting my time, i could have spent my time on your game, literally doing anything else and it would have been more constructive, in fact, I could have logged off and watched paint dry and I would have done something more meaningful. If you want a scavenger hunt achievement people can’t just “look up” the answer to, here’s a few tips to keep you from failing to produce enjoyable content in the future: Start with bread crumbs, insert a random critical thinking element (20 or so possibilities for what that element is, is a good start if you hate youtubers), toss out a single clue with no bread crumbs, add a maguffen, new critical thinking challenge with a different set of elements from the first, bread crumbs and your done. People will have enjoyed the challenge, and the story-like feel to it. AND it wont be another “hey there’s an item somewhere in this zone… maybe…possibly not… we might patch tomorrow and remove it. we don’t know yet.” All of the “NEW” guild stuff / loot / class fixes are cool and all… but some of us actually were more excited about the whole living story, and the possibility of gw2 becoming somewhat like a persistent world with an ever changing story and events. But its clear, the living story aspect as it is right now, is just frustrating and boring busy work. From a objective perspective It seems like you’ve put that aspect on hold so as to continue slipping in a form of gear progression so that you can maintain your ex-wow player base (who love that pointless and endless treadmill of busy work). Just speculating here, since what I experienced so far was so lazy, no, slothful, that there is no way people in development had their attention focused on this. If your goal is bug fixes this month, good, fine fix them. If your goal this month is content, great put it out, make it worthy of your name. If your goal is adding loot to the never ending treadmill, fine, do it if that’s what it takes. But please have some consistency in quality. If you can only handle one item at a time, then do so. stop juggling and throwing out content that isn’t finished, or even well thought out. To the ArenaNet team, you’re better then this.

How Guild Missions Should Look

So there’s already a decent amount of unhappiness on the Guild Quests, and I think from the current viewpoint this is a pretty fair assessment. For various reasons:

1. Putting the only event that doesn’t require Guild Merits in the War tab: This penalizes non-WvW guilds, just as placing it in another tree would penalize WvW guilds

2. Lvl 5 requirement: This simply just isn’t feasible for small guilds

The good news is it’s an easy fix and here’s how

1. Create 5 tiers of events, these tiers are scalable but start at a level appropriate to size. That is a 5 person guild can do T1, 10 T2, 20 T3, 30 T4, 40 T5 this already appears to be the case at least for the 3 Tiers of the bounties and you could keep it at 3 tiers (5, 20, 40) but that would leave some holes.

2. Each T1 does not require Merits to unlock

2. Each new tier requires ANOTHER unlock (with Merits past T1), this lets guilds unlock as they expand rather than requiring a large guild to begin with.

3. Create a separate tab for the “Guild Challenge” Guild challenges require the equivalent Tier of each other challenge to be unlocked.

This setup allows accessibility to the content for smaller guilds, while still requiring a lot of work (even for large guilds) to unlock the highest tiers.

Hopefully the hype of these missions will dissolve, and that guild specific rewards that are rewarded separate from non-guild participants are guild based and not personal based. Otherwise we could see the end of small guilds.

Currently small guilds were able to exist because the mathematical bonus’ offered were not that significant, but i fear extra gold find, reduced way-point costs, on top of personal rewards specific for participating guild members will change this.

‘How many Charr does it take to change a lightbulb?’, to which the other replies, ’What’s a lightbulb?’

I wish some NPCs would actually say this, somewhere in the game. That would be genuinely awesome.

Anyway, I’ll stick to the lightbulb theme…

Q: How many Order of Whispers agents does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: We already did, when you weren’t looking.

Q: How many Norn does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Fifty! One to change the bulb, and the others to drink long into the night and sing tales of the heroic adventure!

Q: How many Guardians does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: One. You just put the lightbulb on his head, stand him under the socket, give him a greatsword, and let him spin around for a while.

Q: How many thieves does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: One to shatter the bulb with the well-aimed throw of a dagger — then, in the pitch darkness, stab you in the back and relieve you of all possessions. That is all.

Q: How many asura does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Only a bookah would phrase the question in such an simplistic manner, without appreciating the complexities of the situation. Naturally, asuran lightbulbs never need to be changed, so a security golem must sweep the area for the insurgents who vandalized said lightbulb. Next, we analyze the room with a spatial spectrometer to measure light reflection dynamics. In the event of sub-optimal parameters, an entirely new room may need to be constructed around the lightbulb, so as to fully take advantage of luminescent interplay. During construction, the security golem will be occupied with dispensing refreshments to the workers, so additional personnel will be called in…. etc. etc. etc.

I hate to personally say it, but this might be the time to start a petition to attempt to block this patch.

No… you don’t petition to block new content from dropping. I don’t want big guilds to be excluded from the content too just because small guilds have been… the answer is make our position known, and understood, be willing to discuss it at length until it is… and then act like adults once the “final” decision has been made and deal with it’s consequences on an adult level.

We aren’t 5 year olds… we can certainly deal with an unfavorable turn of events without trying to screw over everyone else for whom it is favorable. At the same time… when decisions have been made, the decision makers need to be given feedback and alerted to dissident opinions… that is the very basis and strength of freedom of speech. “Good” decision makers take this feedback into consideration in the future and incorporate it into more accurate decision making models… even if their decisions continue to press disfavor on a portion of the population affected by them… not all decisions can be favorable to everyone… but everyone should be heard and acknowledged… and their feedback should have weight.

I know there have been some concerns about Guild Bounties being in the Art of War line. Our goal with this system is to give guilds activities and long-term progression that they can accomplish by working together as a guild. These missions are meant to be difficult and challenging to not only unlock, but to accomplish.

We would also like to make every guild upgrade line valuable to every guild. Currently, Art of War is very focused on PvP and WvW, but our plan is to continue to add more guild upgrades in the Art of War line to accomplish this. These Guild Missions are the first step. Along with this system, we also added a number of new guild upgrades that guilds can earn.

In the end, our goal for all of this content is to give guilds new goals and challenges to accomplished once they have researched deeply into each line, as well as require guilds to have researched multiple lines to unlock some upgrades. We expect guild members to have to work together as a guild to earn the influence needed to unlock these new missions, as well as overcome the challenge of the missions themselves.

In the future, we plan to continue to add more guild upgrades, as well as continue to add challenging guild missions, as we don’t want guilds to run out of goals and accomplishments they can achieve.

~Izzy @-’—-

Allow me to be clear….

I have absolutely no problem with guild missions appearing 10 upgrades deep in the WvW line.

I have absolutely no problem with larger guilds being given content that only larger guilds can complete.

I have absolutely no problem with giving guilds goals to work for… I WANT MORE of that…

I have absolutely no problem with guild missions appearing 500 tiers deep in a tech line I don’t care about/have no use for.

What I have repeatedly protested in this thread is that LAUNCH CONTENT be exclusionary.

I would have had absolutely no foul reaction at all if you had announced that a “guild missions lite” or whatever name you would want to give it would be available on launch day for smaller guilds to activate some nominal small content to do together as a guild and participate in the new reward system at a lower tier in a more popular tech line AND that there would be more large guild or hard core content available 25 or 100 tiers deep in the AoW tech tree. This way… we wouldn’t bleed members to the borg while we work toward these new guild goals… to activate missions that our guild now no longer has the numbers to complete.

I agree with a lot of players that most things can be completed with a 5 man team. A small guild of 20 players has the same problem as a guild of 500 in this respect… there has been no content aside from wvw and helping to open temples in orr for any group over 5.

I want more stuff for larger groups to do that isn’t WoW raiding… but you have chosen to exclude players from launch content… most particularly a new reward system with confirmed monetary bonuses… and given players the choice between not participating immediately or leaving their guilds to join a larger collective.

Make your new missions 5 million tiers deep in whatever tech line you want…. with as convoluted an unlock system as you want… with as prohibitive a cost to research as you want… I’m fine working toward them as a goal… which you stated is what you want. LAUNCH CONTENT should not be exclusionary… because you bleed population from the excluded percentage while they scramble to catch up.

I have two large guilds I belong to and I’m sure they can do the guild missions, but I have a small guild of my own for the purpose of playing with real life friends. We have no area of research above level 3 and zero influence spent in Art of War as WvWvW is not of importance to small guilds.

The rest of my small guild hasn’t been playing the past two months and the guild missions were something I was hoping to use to get some of us playing together again. If the first mission type is restricted behind a level 5 Art of War research wall then it’s unlikely that my friends and I will ever do them.

This has become a long thread, and little of what I have to say is unique, but I feel that as an officer in my guild, I need to say something.

Our guild is small. We started in a Korean grindfest game back in ‘04, and then migrated to GW1 around the release of Nightfall. Since then, the core of officers has maintained much the same. One year, my wife baked cookies and sent them to the other officers in guild. We’re that kind of community, we keep things close.

We have ignored the Art of War tree because the interest in WvW in our guild was very low. Most of us are older now, we’re not the college guys / gals we were back in ’04. We play evenings and save our influence for the guild boosts that we activate on the weekend when people get the most benefit from them.

The things that are most upsetting here for us are:

#1: We will have to wait through the upgrade queue times to get access to new content.

#2: We’re going to have to spend some time focused specifically on gaining influence to get things in a timely manner.

Yes, we could buy influence. Frankly, I could cough up enough coin to buy all the way from lvl 1 to 5 by myself, and if we distributed the cost, it would be easier. But even if we buy the influence, we still have to wait.

Had this been announced a month ago, we could have prepared to hit new content running at launch. There were forum threads weeks ago (I opened one myself) asking if we would need upgrades like Politics lvl 5 to get access to guild missions, but those threads were ignored until now, less than a week before the launch of new content.

I would sincearly hope that A-net takes one suggestion and runs with it: Reduce the gate for the launch of content.

Honestly, we know these missions come in tiers of difficulty. We don’t mind having higher tiers of event locked behind higher guild upgrade requirements. I don’t think most guilds would complain if they couldn’t instantly launch the best / hardest / most rewarding content.

What has sparked rage in my guild, is that we can’t access any of the content until we grind out some upgrades. And that kitten blows.

I seem to recall a statement (cannot find source atm) that the Guild Bounty would have to be completed before other mission modes could be unlocked, if this is the case… :sigh:

Not happy.

I have no qualms whatsoever in grouping up with anyone to achieve a goal. I find it highly enjoyable to be off on my own doing something and see a group of folks taking on an event. I will rush over to help out and then tag along with them sometimes for hours as we just fight our way through an area.
What my concern with this content is currently is that they have stated that small guilds can do the missions if we can recruit others to help us out. I have done the raiding scene, I detest any content that I can start on my own or with my very small group of gaming friends that leads to needing 10 to 40 people to see complete. I do not want to have to go through the hassle and drama of coordinating a raid anymore, this is one reason I love GW 2 and the dragon events. I can be in a massive group of heroes that comes together on its own sees a goal accomplished and then we all move on to be heroic as we see fit.
The folks I game with are the core I have gamed with for years, we have stayed together over 5 different MMO’s have been part of massive guilds and small, currently the latter, we have never balked at expanding but since coming to GW2 and leaving the drama of larger guilds in the dust we have seen no need to expand especially with the way GW2 has been developed we have not needed to do so and that has made our game time so very stress free and enjoyable.
If this content is for guilds to have something to do as a community then I hope it is developed in a way to accommodate as large a variety of guild sizes as possible, if on the other hand this is geared more towards larger “raiding style” guilds to give those folks that have been craving that raid feeling then I ask that it be stated as such. I just do not want to sit and get all excited for content that I will be unable to see because my guild is too small. I, like many others eagerly wait to see what is next on the horizon with this game and the excellent team that creates it.
I feel it would be a kindness to know which way this is actively being developed. And I know they stated that small guilds can do the content but I ask you, What is the metric by which a guild is measured as small? You and I may think very differently on this and Anet may think even differently still. Ultimately it is Anet’s perspective on what size a guild is to be labeled small and I fear that my little 5 man guild is well below that title and therefore not on the flow chart of deliverables when the development decisions are being made.

Sorry but if your guild is 5 man, thats a group not a guild, there does have to be some restriction. we cant have every small guild dropping events endlessly.

I am sorry but that is a very elitist attitude. Everything in this game can be accomplished with just 5 people, outside of major outdoor events, and even those events while needing the assistance of others give you FULL rewards for your time and participation. These new missions will only reward the guild that starts them with the FULL reward.
As I said I have no problem grouping with others to accomplish a goal, but when they announce content that is guild oriented and then say that I am required to have outside help to even see the beginning tiers then there is something wrong. I am not going to argue about the cost requirements to get to see them, many have made more eloquent points towards that than I can, however saying 5 people is not a guild and does not deserve to see content is ludicrous!

Do you even realize that the entire game is based around rebuilding a 5 man guild to face down the elder dragons?! That’s right Logan, Caithe, Rytlock, Zoja, and Eir are a GUILD! Lore alone in this game dictates that I am in a GUILD! I am not asking to be able to do events that require 30 people to complete, I am not saying that those types of events needing massive coordination should not be in the game. I applaud Anet for looking out for those that want to have that experience. I am saying that while they are looking at developing for larger guild content they also should focus some effort towards us small/tiny guilds.

My guild is a serious guild, we get together for WvW, Dungeons and all other aspects of PVE. We set up a schedule to farm for influence to advance our guild builds, we run for events to gather karma and dungeon tokens to kit ourselves out, and we pop into WvW to help represent our server…..

For the smaller guilds out there to ask to have the opportunity to gain these rewards is not a slap in the face to Anet or to anyone that is in a larger guild. It is simply us asking that Anet not lose sight of us in the push of new content and going the RAID OR DIE mentality that plagues other MMO’s that seem to think all content needs to have 15+ people to be completed.

Our preconceived perception was based on Colin’s statement that the first tier would be accessible to all.

And by Leah’s statement that even super small guilds could enjoy the guild event. (I don’t consider helping someone else complete their mission to fall into that category).

I do understand the appreciation for large events for large guilds. I am not trying to take that bone away from anybody.

Us small guilds just feel overlooked based on our preconceived perceptions. If the initial comments used to set the mental stage for the way this was going to be rolled out were more accurate, there would be a lot less resentment.
